I think I am the only one not interested playing as a big bird :/
Nope. I want Skritt. I Miss my EQ2 Ratonga.
Now, the change could be a good one. It could be great even if they have seriously taken what we’ve said in here to heart, unfortunately their track record thus far doesn’t instill much hope in that regard.
I didn’t realize we were members of the Anet Board of Directors. If that’s the case; you’re right. All changes or lack of changes should indeed be approved by us first!
Well expansion could help a lot but maybe if they introduce holy trinity and something like raids or whatever. Gw2 had something and its gone for a lot of people.
Now we see the true nature of the OP.
WoW —-→
Gawd. My lazy kitten is still trying to get to 70 on 5 alts so I can continue my personal story and catch up to the next living story. I think I’d just stare and drool at the screen if I needed to reach level 90 or 100 to unlock new content.
If an employee is wearing an Anet tag; it means they are working. At every other publisher I’ve worked with, the tag is only available while playing from the internal network (at work) or logged in to the internal network via proxy server.
Either way its unlikely that said employee was out to grief or waste anybody’s time intentionally. Instead they were either trying to track down a bug with the assistance of other players, or some other in game task. Regardless, it sounds like you were just collateral damage.
I have never played an MMORPG that didn’t offer some kind of PvP. I always preferred non-consensual overland PvP. But that type of fighting seems to have gone the way of the Carebear.
Anyways. I enjoy the sPvP in GW2. Of course, I ignore the map chat so that makes it more enjoyable. Getting profanities screamed at me by adolescents (or adults acting like adolescents) is hardly my idea of a good time.
The rewards are great and the action is non-stop. Haven’t had this much fun since camping Bells in EQ2.
New playable race: Skritt.
Do it Anet!
Best response I’ve read so far.
I’m good at adapting to change. So, these changes will not affect me.
I realize that I am a minority.
People design their own “hype” out of unrealistic expectations and impatience. This goes for enthusiasts of any technology be it an operating system, a smartphone or a video game.
If people would patiently wait for announcements before developing opinions and making assumptions, the forums on the Internet would be a very different world.
Gold: Those days when getting gold was tough are gone.
When was getting gold tough??
I look at it this way: If the thread, and topic, doesn’t apply to you, why would anyone get upset? If it does apply to you, well then, one might lash out with an argument based on semantics.
You must be new to the Internet. Welcome! XD
2 – Mash all into a big world!
Lay down the mist on top os the pve world, make WvW a invasion for resources or control, this kind of strife that drives and pull comunities together.
Open World PvP would require dedicated servers separate from the general servers as it would interfere with PvE events. EQ2 learned this lesson quickly after the initial launch back in 1999. “Facets” for PvP don’t work either.
Mega Servers is going to be as close to “open world” as we’re going to get. And its been fine so far.
Don’t get me wrong.. the 1997 UO player in me would love to run around aimlessly killing anybody in sight at will. It just doesn’t work these days however. The carebears tend to like their PvP on their own terms.. not yours or mine.
Sweet so I don’t play, I don’t spend money in their gem store, they don’t make any cash. Great!
Not a problem. There are thousands of folks like myself ready to take your place in line to spend our RL cash on the BLTP. ^^
Sort of confused. The game is free to play. Why not log in and just take a look around and form your own conclusion?
As for new content, the homepage is neatly organized chronicling each of the new living stories in detail.
Sometimes I wonder how people managed to crawl out of AOL since 1998.
The entitlement in this one is strong, yes.
The only people affected by a lack of an “expansion” are those who blow through the new content as quickly as they can. But, traditionally those folks are like locusts and as soon as they’ve consumed all the new content they move on to another game.
I’m not going coach anybody about their play style. However, to those who play at a relatively steady rate, all the new content produced this year is plenty. And to those who play at a casual or slower rate, even overwhelming.
I’m still playing catch up by leveling 5 toons to 70 so I can unlock new content I haven’t gotten to yet. But I also take advantage of everything the game has to offer. Crafting, PvP, WvW, LS, Dailies, Weeklies & Monthlies.
I love it when people post like their computer is only capable of having one MMO game installed on it at a time.
Real Gamers don’t need a development team to keep them happy. Real Gamers are playing several games at once and spending the most time and money in the game they currently enjoy the most. There’s no need make elitist demands when you’re always content.
I had an Aunt that would give me 6 rolls of pennies that she rolled herself and an expired bank calendar every year for Christmas. When I was too young to care it didn’t bother me. As I grew older I began to resent it. I thought she hated me as my siblings always received something personal and well thought out.
Fast forward 20 years. She died and left me her entire estate. My siblings got nothing.
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
This is an online game. No matter what they do, people will kitten, moan and complain ;-) They need to stop being so afraid of that, and just communicate what their goals are. If people complain, at least they’re getting feedback before they release content that flops.
Is this your first MMO? Please show me another game which has developers who layout their entire roadmap for the game for the player base to critique.
The fact that this topic was even brought up is sort of creepy in an Internet kind of way.
I have one of each. I play casually and with the exception of running class quests, usually concentrate on crafting. So, my opinion may be among minority. But, playing every class isn’t a bad idea vs. asking for opinions about which class you’d like to play. You know better than a thousand strangers after all.
Wouldn’t Skype suffice for the exchange of Chuck Norris jokes?
Just like any game.. the devs play the games they develop. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t want them developing that game.
When they play on their own time it is outside of the corporate network on non-gifted characters. This is a policy they agree to when they’re hired. If you suspect a dev is playing casually and creating an advantage in game, you should contact customer support and report the character.
Likely, when you see a dev in game, they want to be seen. They aren’t going to affect the gameplay.
In UO back in the day.. EM’s, GM’s and Devs would get personally involved with players and screw around with spawns, raids, PvP, etc. Today, these things don’t happen very frequently without being exposed immediately by those affected.
For many gamers, the forums are 90% of their entertainment. This is not directed specifically at the OP. But in general.. many gamers game for the drama.. not the fun. Been going on since 1984. This is not a new phenomenon to online gaming.
Oops. I must be in the wrong thread. I’m over 14 (over 30) and have been having a blast since release day.
Sorry for the interruption. Carry on with your displeasure sharing.
WvWvW is good enough for Factions.
If you want old fashioned Factions.. go play UO for $13.50/month.
Nobody online is willing to admit lack of talent.. so this is moot discussion.
Wow. Black Lion Trader must be doing better than I thought, if they are willing to forgo the expansions. The expansions were a major money maker for GW1, and I would have assumed would be just as big of one here in this game.
Different age o gaming. EQ2 expansions sold off the shelf during pre-order when GW1 was out. Now, it too, is F2P with a sub and RL marketplace. Once Sony sheds the Sub to keep up with games like GW2 there won’t be much of a difference.
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the OP just needed to vent or was trolling.
I vote for an “I Win”, “I Hate”, “Login” option when the game is launched.
This should adequately segregate the community in to the proper channels.
I just looked at those two last lines and decided that the post is not even worth reading.
I scrolled down as well and realized this was a “I am bored, I quit” post.
Well, considering this game is F2P.. and not subscription based.. I am surprised that this thread has had any merit at all.
Quit. Unless you’re dropping $200-$300/month on the RLM market.. the publishers won’t miss you.
I enjoy the game as well and am frustrated at certain aspects of it. But, I’m not spending more than I’m willing to walk away from on it either. Usually about $20-$70/month.
Wow. I’m having a flash back from 1998.. Players demanding to know if the UO Developers actually played their own game.
Sort of like painting a landscape of a place you’ve never been to. I doubt any Dev since the days of MUDS and MOOS has been successful without playing their own game.
Get a grip people.
GW2 is not the CoD or LoL of MMO’s it was trying to be.
Show me the source for this please. I don’t ever recall Anet ever comparing themselves to any of these games you mentioned.
The patches are fine by me. 12 minutes of my time.. no big deal.
Take me back to 1999 when Ultima Online was down for 24 hours with a 48 hour roll back on all the servers. Yah.. the monitor got quite a beating by my forehead.
Its not that big of a deal.. Sub or otherwise.
Entitlement continues to dominate the MMO genre.
No less important.. but, this is just one of thousands of the same discussions on the same topic that have been occurring since 1996.
A game can’t change the Community. Only the Community can change the Community.

No issues with game play on high settings. 51-53DL cable connection if that matters.
As you have played MMOs for years; I expected that you would have done your due diligence and learned that there are more than one character slot available. Thus, giving you the opportunity to try out each class for yourself and choose one that suits your needs best.
However, I missed the part in your post that requested directions to the “I Win Button”.
I don’t understand the 1-80 reference since Crafting is 1-400.. but based on your topic posted.. I use the following:
http://www.gw2crafts.net/
I use http://www.gw2crafts.net/ when I’m in a hurry with a particular crafting skill. But, for the most part, just gearing up my alts leveled me pretty quickly.
At level 5 it really doesn’t matter. Once you hit level 10 and start working your spec tree is when you want to start adjusting your equipment to your skills. Have fun with dropped gear for now. Do all the quests. Class, Personal Story, Live Events, Dynamic, etc. Don’t over think your profession choice so early.. this isn’t that kind of MMO.
It was an attempt to compromise your account via your email account. It was not a “hack”.
“Hacking” hasn’t occurred since Mathew Broderick’s character set the old analog phone in to the cradle and started dialing random phone numbers in search of a computer that would answer.
People toss the word “hacking” around too frequently these days without understanding its meaning/origin.
Accessing a game account or even an email account for that matter is the equivalent of Identity Theft or Social Engineering.
“Hacking” is blatantly accessing a single computer system or network directly in order to access the data or use the applications/services. So unless you are running WOPR to play GW2 or read your Gmail.. you weren’t hacked.
This lesson in Tech Support 101 was brought to you by the letters A, X and the Number 5.
This sounds more like a UI update vs. a Crafting update per se. In other words, the Crafting System wouldn’t be updated.. but rather what you are requesting is better interface for managing your crafting window.
My advice would be to try them all out at least to level 30 then make a decision or simply fill all 5 character slots with different professions and go that route or look up each profession and read on the feedback and go that route.
Best advice for any MMO with class/profession selection and always a good answer for the ago old question.. “what should I play”.
You have several character slots available. Why not try each of the professions? You can delete the ones you don’t enjoy playing and keep the ones you do. Chances are, you’ll enjoy more than just one profession anyways.
Im playing on a 2009 imac i7 with a hd4850 and the experience is flawless.
Same here on a brand new (Summer 2012 cMBP).
Besides, wouldn’t taking it out of Beta mean it was complete? If there are issues, it obviously still needs more testing.
OSX, I crash BUT this needs to be fixed...

Yes same problem and every mac user I’ve talked to about it has this issue. I’m kind of PvE’d out and would like to try WvW now! lol
No problem here. So, ‘every mac user you’ve talked to about it’ – 1
