Well, did EoTM improve WvW by a noticable margin?

I would close eotm and only open it if you are in q for a map. eotm was supposed to be an overflow but instead its an alternative.
think of it this way: reset would happen every 3 hours! yaaay lol. welp imo it would be a lot more fun.

there was the soldier/cele bunker meta, then hot came with massive power creep. both allowed casuals to be carried by builds. the rewards system, the solo/duo q only, the matchmaking system in the past that allowed people to grind into legend, the fact that the leaderboard wasn’t locked from new f2p accounts… why are you trying to say that gw2 pvp doesn’t cater to casuals lol?

yeah the wts never happened, the 250k prize pool was a sham, pro teams a myth… seriously what the hell. what planet are you on? if what you are trying to say is that the pvp scene isn’t up to par compared to other games, ofc that’s true. are you also saying that it cant be? if so then I don’t and wont share that surrender. I’m going to continue to post on these forums until they shut them down.

I understand where youre coming from, but making something all inclusive completely undermines its value. for a games competitive scene that spells disaster. take any fps for example, or even chess. the rules are simple, the quest to the top is not. if the top is reachable to anyone, then no one will reach for it because its so easy and thus has no value.

A major charm of WvW is the extended battle against specific servers… or rather, the war.
Just something as simple as reset night is a foundation that keep WvW going at a steady pace, week in and week out.

even when an extended battle against a ridiculously stacked server is normal? wvw is deserted in a lot of servers most of the time.
seeing reset night go would be sad, but do you think the sacrifice would be worth it if wvw improved by a noticeable margin?

This. Often you’re not just playing for a time slot, you’re trying to help out the next one.

you would still be able to do that. it might feel less impactful cuz of the short matchup but that wouldn’t prevent anyone staying in wvw an extra hour to help out the next guys.

If the question is how to entice the OTHER 19 players, you are not going to do it by doubling down on something they already DISLIKE.

PVP needs to slow down, have MORE SIGNIFICANT PASSIVES THROUGH TRAITS, and less spiky and button mashing game play.

It would also help a lot, to have trait lines that are actually focused on one thing, instead of having multiple lines that need to be used together.

catering to the lowest skilled player is dumb
no it doesn’t need to slow down, slow people need to speed up

Could you elaborate on this topic? I mean, I’m not a big spender of money in MMOs but on the other hand, I’m not keen on cosmetics or other visual things. Especially if, like in GW2, most of gems can actually be EARNED IN THE GAME by earning gold. I mean, how many MMOs allow this?

well for example if I made a game name changes and new skins wouldn’t cost 10-20$ but more like 1-5$, and you wouldn’t be able to buy them with in game money.

I would rather get rid of soloq and do teamq. We have a LFG system that no one seems to use. If the community utilized that to make teams they could filter out who can join by their rank.

it would be interesting to see how this would play out. might work! forcing people into teams could make for better matchups, strategy, and overall experience. going casual hasn’t worked out so far, at least not as good as it could be, nawmeen.

what would that be like lol?

curious as to what sorta mechanics would change, how servers would behave differently, and if this would create a more competitive environment. right now if youre locked into a tier with an obvious blowout, its a normal thing to sort of give up and not try your hardest. with much shorter match ups it could be that nothing would change, or it could be the opposite! maybe it would create a race like mindset and get people going lol. every minute, every camp, and every battle would matter more. how would this effect night capping? band wagoning? population imbalance? the game mode in general? perfect balance is so hard to create, and a week only compounds problems.

chose 3 hours cuz it felt like the sweet spot.
assume that everything is sped up to compensate for the change.

We all know how successful DTM on Courtyard was… you can’t just say “Add this!” and expect results.

Rule Mechanics

  • 15m time limit
  • Best of 3 rounds. Rounds lasts 5 minutes
  • Lowest health player at end of a stalemate round loses that round

It’s whats needed… at the very least.

this is good but I would increase it even more, to 5 rounds 3min each. reset cd’s each round. it doesn’t take much for a match to start snowballing and once it does its spawn camp central.

Population is based on people I think, not on active hours.

If server x has 50 active people that are 10 hours online/day and server Y 50 active people that are 3 hour online/day. They have the same population but server X feels like they have 3 times more people.

It makes sense in a way that servers are not being punished for having active people and being fun to play in it. Servers are basically set full if they are not fun to play in (people dont stay online for long) and/or they have lot of PvE dailyfarmers

Yes this is exactly it, I keep saying this but clearly no-one listens. It perfectly explains why some servers are closed and others are open. JQ has been a casual servers for a long time, They have a lot of people that player for short periods but enough to be included in the population, BG in the last few weeks has gone this way as well. They come out for reset and maybe 1 or 2 days for the rest of the week and thats all. Whereas Mag still has a lot of people playing for long hours.

sadly dual wield isn’t viable in pvp or wvw unless youre just playing for fun and not to win.
in that case there is no set build and I encourage you to experiment on your own and find out what works for you.

the fact that we know where the evil aka chaos comes from is a bit of a 180 from other sources of pop culture topics dealing with this issue, mainly star wars. the fact that we don’t know where “good” magic comes from doesn’t mean it isn’t there, just that it hasn’t been revealed yet.

I’m guessing that this good magic is a representation of mother nature, the spirit of the planet. in short we should all become hippies and stop consuming things we don’t need.

one of the bigger downsides is how monstrously slow adren buildup is with hammer. having slow anims is one thing, but combined with not doing those anims very much and the weapon is dead.

the thing is I could link builds like that all day, its not just condi mes and ham rev. well what we could do is nerf stats or nerf every trait and skill that rely on them, aa’s included.

if a majority agreed on something being op, would their collective subjective opinion be treated the same as a singular opinion? for the record I’m not trying to speak for anyone else but in my experience most people I interacted with in gw2 didnt enjoy fighting against what we agreed was op. great statement about passives I agree, altho this game is heaven compared to teso in the passives department. what makes a game balanced imo? hmm that’s a good one. skills that don’t take more then say 33% of your hp, no passives at all, no stat stacking designed for a pve environment, no masses of unused traits/skills, not designing professions around one game mode when there could be more, not giving certain professions all the tools to succeed in one area of the game while not giving any to another profession, erm… that’s all I can think of for now.
