good point about top stats.
what if the stats were kdr, adr, number of points decapped/capped, time spent on a contested point?
maybe double the top stat gain for the time spent on a contested point part because it is a combination of healing/damage mitigation aka boring tanking.
also top stat bonus awarded per match not per team.

some simple trait/utility buffs/nerfs to bring weak stuff to the fore

fire
burning precision – 12 icd
blinding ashes – 4 sec icd 1 sec blind
earth
rock solid – grant 2 stacks 4sec of stab to allies 600 radius
written in stone – get rid of passive effect part and cut cd in half
air
inscriptions – create a half duration glyph of storms when ever you cast a glyph. get rid of boon part.
arcane
elemental surge – increase ferocity gain by 100 cd reduction to 33%
elemental enchantment – 15% to 20%
elemental attunement – swiftness + protection 5sec to 3sec

conjured weapons – cut cd in half
glyphs of lesser + regular elementals – cut pet ability cd by 33%

staff
buff staff lightning auto 0.66 to 0.86
lightning surge – cast time to 1/2sec, cd to 6 sec
gust – cd to 15 sec

scepter
shatterstone – double cd add 1/4sec daze

Thief and warrior are necro counters, they have the strongest burst in game and the best damage evasion tools.

which always annoyed me cuz necro is traditionally the melee counter.

so to sell high you have to buy low first, right?
correct me if I’m wrong, but if a ton of people are selling low, doesnt that devalue a good for personal gain? that would mean more and more devalued goods would have to be put in circulation to keep up with production, which means a ton of people getting paid really bad wages. of course selling low means a ton of people can afford something, but that doesnt mean all people can afford it. also if youre keen enough you can see that nothing has changed much in the course of human history, there are still 3 tiers of hierarchy: merchant, consumer, producer. pointing all fingers at the consumer is a good way to divert peoples attention from the producer.

a lot of traits and skills would have to be completely reworked.
I was thinking what might would be like as a burst boon: low duration and highly impactful, like protection. on something as iconic as a guards staff, maybe each pulse could give 2 sec? idk that’s just a random number for arguments sake.

its really annoying that 1/2 the game is spent on maintaining 25 stacks of might. I don’t want to take away the coordination of doing so though, so have duration caps would hopefully provide that.

No, you’re confusing issues. Blowout matches aren’t caused by the matchmaking, and matchmaking isn’t worried about the score in matches. Matchmaking only worries about the final outcome, that’s it.

Blowout matches are inherent to gw2 PvP. The match dynamics are very snowbally with capture points, making even fairly close matches in terms of team skill end up as blowouts in score. Nothing that matchmaking can do will change this; it’s built into the very structure of the game.

so would you rather have a matchmaking that gives more close matches or more blowouts? that’s what people who are upset with the matchmaking come to the forums about. too many blowouts. it doesnt have to be this way, people can and do come up with creative solutions all the time. if we didn’t then we would never have evolved as a species.
I do ofc agree that gw2 pvp is snowbally, but there are plenty of close matches as well. there has to be a way to enable more.

Matchmaker most definitely chooses which team is going to win 100% of the time. One side will always have players that can’t even find the home point, while the other team runs rings around them. I’ve been on both teams an even amount of times.

I’m saying that you’ll end up on the better team just as often as you end up on the worse team. The basic effect of the system produces a 50% winrate.

so Sooloo says that most of their matches are blowouts or something like it, and you say its ok because the amount of those matches each player is on the receiving end of is 50/50.
the alternative being that if mm was fixed somehow then we would have more close matches.

chances are if youre in bronze you don’t have the “skill” required to climb tiers. just chance tho everyone is an exception.

I’m saying that you’ll end up on the better team just as often as you end up on the worse team. The basic effect of the system produces a 50% winrate.

the loss does seem a bit high, but if its too low then people that belong in gold will be able to grind into platinum.

if you reward blowouts you encourage match throwing / bribery. I’m guessing this isn’t a normal thing encountered, but it would encourage such behavior nonetheless. also if you are going to reward big wins, big losses should be accrued as well yes? this might be fair, but people wont feel that way. reason doesn’t always win, just ask a lawyer.

good ideas but solutions bring more problems.

idk dodge the first two vaults and then get weakness on them and start using damage skills. might help. if they aren’t spamming get weakness and cover it with some others, try to cast cancel skills with obvious animations to bait dodges.

… if might was a flat 33% damage boost? so no more stacking, its just one boon, a counter to protection. it would probably have to have its duration nerfed a bit.

I’m just trying to satiate my curiosity here, nobody get triggered or what ever term kids use nowadays.

as an added side note, it would be interesting to see what this game would be like if boons had a duration cap. we would be forced to coordinate boon rotations.

some others and I asked for buff consolidation years ago. I agree its really annoying. I don’t give a kitten what guild banner buffs my enemy has because it has no bearing on anything whatsoever. also those dumb pve regen, run speed, and 5% damage buffs shouldn’t be allowed.

It’s much easier and still brings Anet tons of money.
Just put the player cap for a map based on the smallest server of the matchup.
If the server can bring 40 into a borderland, the other two servers can bring 40 and the rest has to go to eotm or any other map not full. And make sure the queues are dynamic and numbers corrected every hour or so.

So, either you sit in queue for days or you transfer somewhere were you have a chance of playing wvw.

so crazy it might actually work. would be very unpopular for the first month or so.

better option for anet then lowering the aoe cap on some skills. although being able to take down numbers 6 times your size is verrry appealing to me.

completely gutting team play in a team play environment is not the way to go. yes duo can ruin matches, but its not always the case.

btw could you q for teamq back in the day and jump in hj? if not then that seems like a good thing to implement if we ever see a return of teamq. also disable hj spectator team switching.

if we take this to heart, then server transfer shoulda been disabled from get go and new players assigned a server based on the lowest average wvw population.
or, raise aoe cap for most damage skills, remove cleave, and lower/remove it on a few anti zerg ones. change support skills to only work on your party. limit boon and condi duration stacking. lastly, everyone listen to me I’m an expert hurrdurr.

idk this is kinda random and not ideal but it is a starting point at least. deadly arts is better but critical strikes will fill in the damage deficit while giving you a bit of sustain while you learn the class. rune/sigil optional. may want a bit more hp. watch out for condis.

sigil of rage shouldn’t be touched atm because of easy boon duration.

frailty sure, pretty low already but np.

purity no, too much easy passive cleanse ingame already.

water is already 5sec, dropping it down to where laserbeam druids would start using it would be obnoxious.

sigil of air and fire are both pretty weak now. I’m not sure if there really is a point in running them over force anymore.

as always my advice to people seeking build help is to check out metabattle.com and switch stuff out bit by bit to match your playstyle. all classes are fine, just depends on what kinda game play you want.

as a general guideline:
marauder gear is good for direct damage
expertise isn’t as good if people have cleanses
the class that pulls off celestial the best is ele then ranger, engi, mes
dodging and skill management is still better over tanking and healing

yeah man, that sounds good at first, except their rating loss is significantly lower under your system. idk I think this would still be abused to an extent. its similar to rating protection aka q dodging, your potential loss is minimal and it allows one to stay in relatively the same position with no risk. I like the route youre taking with this though, certainly better then most other suggestions (mine included). hmm another fault I see is that if enough people make it high enough up the ladder, they are unlikely to fall due to poor play. this would increase the size of legend/plat to a degree where the rank doesn’t matter anymore.
