Don’t fight in big Zerk,thanks to AOE cleanse. Skirmish, small fight is more of your battlefield. Kite them and let Condi do the work for you.And any class that lack Condi Cleans is your easy prey. That being said but you can still kill an Eles if play smart.

Engineer can deal with a lot of various situation compare to Eles since they practically Eles with Kit but lack of Stunbreaker if you go with Trip Kit like i did. Also Kit is much much better than Atuunment Swap since it bears no CD, means you can swap in and out at will. Plus the access to a lot of combo field and Blast Finisher are also Engine strong point over Eles.

Eles, while it may be true more sustain than Engine but we lack of the versatile to deal with many different situation like Engine. For example, Eles stuck in melee or Range depend on weapon choice. Attument CD is also a minus compare to Engine since it is being affected by ICD which is 15s,10s if trait. Because of this Eles pretty much is forced to put in at least 20 pts in Arcane trait to be optimal for most situation,hence reduce the build you can take.

My conclusion is Engine is more flexible compared to Eles. That come from me, who play Eles for a long time.

I will admit that War has a hard time 1v1, but it is not that impossible like you thought. But in team fight, War is pretty good current state. If it is Condi fight, pop Condi immune,rush in, lock and burst down, then get out of there, all of this can be accomplished during the Condi immune duration. If wear Soldier Amulet, the direct dams will be no problem. If it is Direct Dam fight, applied the same practice but with Endure Pain. And trust me on this, in team fight, it is way messy to see a War Bull Rush in,90% of the time it will connect, and that’s all you need to burst 18k Hp engine with 1500 toughness to 0 in less than 5s. On a side note, I see more and more War showing up in pre-made team as well as soloQ,some even have 2. So that is a good sign that War is catching up other prof for spot in tPvP.

Torment and Stealth War Incoming?

I could see a several reason why Stealth should not give to Warrior. Warrior possess one of the highest burst in the game, long stun lock and sustain if wearing Soldier Amulet, yet still dish out amazing damages. Right now, the only way to counter War Stunlock is look for its animation. Without anyway to see the stun chain coming, Warrior will be ridiculous strong, if not the most OP in OP level.

Torment and Stealth War Incoming?

Torment was first introduced only available to Necro, Thief and Mesmer. Now later War is also given Torment.

Stealth was before exclusively to Thief and Mesmer through skills and Ults, not by combo. Now later, Stealth also is given to Ranger.

With these 2 changes, I could see a future in which Stealth and Torment will be available to all class through skill and Ults, not by combo. The only difference is how many they are given access to.

You and me both play Eles. I play Eles first before coming to Engineer, but we both have different opinion. I have 1000+ hours on my Eles, on all aspects of the game and have the title of Champ Magus in PvP. Switch to Engine, I am so jealous at how the class functions. I clearly see that Engine is WAY easier to do combo with so many Blast Finisher we have compared to Eles as long as you know what is in order. Funny enough, Eles being advertised as being versal but I find that description is Way more right to Engine. All you need to know is the order in which need to be excuted first. For example, with my Engine, I can heal for 10k+ in 2s in which I can never achieve on my Eles.

You dont know which class is running which build. That assumption is a hyperbole. What we do know is the current balance requires a guardian bunker because it provides way more advantages for teamfights and CC.

Not having one in your team heavily crushes your chances of winning.

You are not wrong but not entirely correct. I have played tPvP on the past few days and I see a lot of pre-made team not running any Bunker, let alone Bunker Guardian and they do pretty well. What they have over is the flexibility the team comp provide and the feel that they do not need a bunker to win a game. My team,strictly speaking, have 1 Condi Engine uses Rapid Amulet, 1 Condi Necro, 1 Thief, 1 Warriror, 1 DPS Guardian and we do just fine, even better since we have mobility and flexibility.

#4: Even at 1,312 condition damage, burning is the equivalent to only 6 bleeds. The only class I can think of that can’t sustain more than 6 bleeds on a target is the Guardian.

six bleeds is a lot churning earth is considered a devastating skill (hence the five-year-long windup) and it applies eight. i think it says a lot about some specs and classes being spoiled if they look at six bleeds on a target as being a low figure.

There is still people can not interrupt, dodge or blind CE nowadays o-O??? Please spare me the laugh, it is the most predictable skill in the whole game and the most easiest skill to counter …..

Hammer is supposed to be slower than pistol. Swigging a gigantic hammer, don’t think it should be faster than putting a trigger on pistol. Though, only the final chain attack is slow and it gives protection., the first two is pretty fast. Same with mace.

If you can fix that, can you also look at the speed of the thieves short-bow’s auto-attack as well? It should be around 0.25? (yeah it seems ridiculous, but it seems way to slow now that the projectiles don’t follow the target.) too.

Request a “fix” onHiS removes Torment and refuse to change build to adept just because it removes Burn, Bleed and Poison. Now this? What is next?

Since the patch magnet goes on interrupt recharge when you cast it with your back turned to your enemy or when you turn your back to your victim while casting magnet. Is this a bug or an intended change that didn’t get included in the patch notes?

And if it was an intended change, why?
The cast time and animation warrants enough of a warning to potential victims.
With everyone moving around so much it’s very frustrating to see it go on interrupt recharge because they dodged to your backside as you are casting it.
Magnet is hard enough to land against players who are familiar with the skill as is.

And as a side note, to be sure, I tried it out in hotjoin on the (magnificent) skyhammer map. It seemed to just interrupt and drop enemies at their position a lot, rather than dragging them to me. Magnet has always been wonky when there is a height difference in play, but it seems to have been worsened now.
Might be a perception thing because of the change, but that’s what it feels like.

What gives? Did anyone really considered magnet to strong?
I’m not saying it’s useless now, but it was a powerful tool that has lost (to) much of it power as it stands now.

Any news on using Magnet drop enemy on their position rather than to me? It is happening a lot to me and it is very frustrating. Also, if the terrain is uneven, it will be either out of sight or drop enemy at their position. It makes things harder to do the combo.Bug or working as intended?

Specter Heal 3 is actually better than Dagger Heal 2, that I agree. But if compare it to Dagger Heal 5, I much prefer Dagger Heal 5. My bad that I forgot the Specter Heal 3. Nevertheless, with only 10 pts in Water, I don;t see you can have a good heal that recover your health to be able to disengage safely. Sure you can use all 3,then all they need is wait for you to use all them, Immobilized you and you see yourself on the ground instantly. Plus low health pool, Condition class melt you if they happen not to be glass. I have a friend try to use Air Burst Combo on my Engine using Rapid Amulet, she can not kill me in one shot. After she done with her combo, she is a free kill to me.

Umm…what?

You can stack might in fire with an S/D build with 0 points in fire. Here’s how you do it: Dragon tooth->Ring of Fire->Phoenix->Earth Attunement->Earthquake->DODGE

You could also add an Arcane Wave in there too.

I know about this combo. Then that means you wasted a lot of skills and put bith Fire and Earth Attunement in CD, things is you wont be disengaged that easily when it comes to team fight. And let assume the Eles has no point in Fire, and has the trait set up like X/30/X/X/30, I still don’t know how we will have a good healing with this setup providing X =10 pts in Water. And we still miss 1AOE Heal? I only see 2AOE heal in this setup.

1. Considering no one used Longbow before, it might be worthwhile picking it now.

2. Necromancers have seen one of their key traits increase a tier, which means they’ll have to respec one of their top builds. Meanwhile, they have seen a massive drop in survivability due to DS changes. If a Necromancer before could switch to DS while having only 5% life force to “prevent” a 6k critical hit, they’ll now eat most of its damage. DS can no longer be used as a pseudo Mistform as often as it did.

3. You mean, like the buffs we have gotten to staff last patch, and some to focus and utilities? The buffs we have gotten to traits, like fire’s 30 and air’s 30? Certainly, most of them weren’t enough, but we are getting buffed.

4. We now have more stun breaks (and better access to stability), so we’re no longer as stuck to cantrips as we were before. Staff’s and Scepter’s damage were buffed in the big patch, and only nerfed to a single trait to a very defensive build, which makes sense. And fresh air builds have decent healing.

5. You don’t seem to be aware of how strong fresh air builds are. How do you “dodge” them? Their air burst sequence is instant. How do you dodge a sequence of four or more 0 casting time skills? Outside of the two arcanes, your air burst recharges every 5 seconds. Outside of your air burst, you still have the entire fire line to cast, and a bit of earth, until you go back to air again, this time stacked all over with might. If you get targetted, you’ll have plenty of swiftness to run away, perma vigor, earth attunement to get protection, water attunement to heal back a good portion of your entire HP, and passive healing that will give you back a good amount of HP while you’re “spamming” your skills. And yes, you can hit pretty hard even bunker builds. More so than that, this build has great party support. 3 aoe healing spells, 3 ways to remove conditions from allies, regen and protection spreading, might-stacking, etc.

6. I’m not sure of how a “pro” I am. Elementalists appear in most (all?) of the top pvp teams, especially with the two variations of valkyrie burst builds (fresh air or the old one with 20 points in water), so I would like to know why you think they’re mediocre. This build is very strong and might be toned down someday, IMO. I’m not sure how good their bunker builds still are, but they used to be top meta before as well.

For PvE, every class that is not a warrior, a guardian or a mesmer sucks. Nothing comes close to warriors in pve unless they can offer something unique, like Mesmers, or have enough party defense to not make the dps warriors fall down in harder content, like the guardian. This is a problem with pve’s simplistic design, where dps rushing, berserker gear and dodging are king above everything else.

It’s the same thing with Ranger and Engineer. They do play or resemble jack-of-all-trades, master of none, with no purpose in pve while being quite strong in pvp.

This situation won’t change for as long as pve’s challenging content remains as shallow and simplistic as it is now.

There are something’s wrong with your point 5. To say that we can refresh Air every time an attack hit with 5s ICD,an Eles must have 30 pts in Air. Then to be able to stack might in Fire, an Eles must invest in 30pts in Fire. That is already 60 pts spent. That leave you with only 10pts lefts. You said we have protection while changing to Earth, then the build must have 10 in Arcane. To able to regen heal while spamming attack, the heal must be Signet of Restoration. How is this build have access to permanent vigor, swiftness, good healing, good chunk of health back while running away,having 3AOE heal is beyond my knowledge, please elaborate more on your build. And please stop saying that A bunker build using Cleric is able to hit hard…I play Bunker Eles most of my time in Eles in tPvP. It took me at least 5-6 mins to down a burst Eles (30/30/x/x/x). And Valkyrie is not the bunker Amulet, and wear it does not make a Bunker.

I like the change that the extra dams dealt while they are in DS will not go to wasted, means their survival has been affected nonetheless. I want to see how this go out. Maybe less Staff Condinecro because they now die quicker than before with not enough tools to generate LF.

Right? I mean if no one uses it, why do you guys care if we ask for it to be changed a bit in functionality from immunity to a cooldown but a little stronger (clearing condies too). I mean, who’d know?

oh my no…..your already complaining about a rarely used trait with very specific viability that has only shown up really during this condition meta….which its still rarely used.

Then suggesting for it to clear conditions, when there’s already claims that we already have excessive condition clearing…….your just trying to get our class nerf, we already get nerfed directly and indirectly every patch

Just shut up already… I gave (as Google said) an over powered acceptable alternative that’s stronger… I don’t care when it’s used, how it’s used, 100% immunity to an entire build is NOT okay in a game, get it? Okie, if he is not dying, why don’t you finish him off with raw dams then as a Condition Builds? With only 4k less left and not heal at all, someone will die eventually, is it not? Using all your condition attacks while AR on is just plain stupid. If he heal, good for you, more and more conditions on you. If he is NOT heal, just beat them down with Raw Dams. Oh please don’t tell me a Necro can not put raw Dams enough to beat 4k less Engine down…

Or, maybe, if you bothered to read the topic you would know that this argument has been debunked multiple times.

Medikit allows to heal the engineer for 1k HP, giving a good amount of health back without going over the 25% hp barrier.

Also, I guess you’ve never played a conditionmancer.
All condition weapons hits with insanely low damage and they don’t scale with power at all (or, if they do, the scaling is unnoticeable). Scepter MH and dagger OH have the infamous record to never hit over 500 damage. The only skill which is capable to hit 1.2k damage is Feast of Corruption but, look at the irony, you need conditions on your target to do so!

They don’t work exactly like Grenade kit which deals also massive amounts of damage other than applying tons of conditions, you know…

I don’t read the whole topic 16 pages long. But I know for the fact that all QQers about this trait being OP is ONLY Necromancer, particularly Condimancer Necro. I will not explain again why I think and most of other people think this Trait is not OP. In my post, I will only point out the common sense that you should do in tPvP when engaged a AR Engineer. Engineer is a HARD counter to Condimancer Necromancer only thanks to AR trait, how does it make to OP Level? Rock always beat Scissor, does it make Rock OP? No.
AR is a Hard Counter to all Condition Class? No. I only see Staff Condimancer Necro crying, I don’t see Ranger, Mesmer, Warrior, Guardian Conditions cry about it? 1 Class among 6, Staff Necro can not defeat nor be defeated, yet Staff Necro dominate the rest? It would make more sense to cry Staff Necro is OP rather than crying AR OP.

Now, as a Staff Condimancer Necro, you can not kill an Engineer when AR kick in. So

1/What stop you to call for help from Allies?Are we playing 1v1 Deathmatch Mode here? No

2/Leave him and do something else. Wasting your time to kill an AR Engineer while you know clearly that you can not kill him is a STUPID move. Instead ask for someone else to do the job for you. Rotate the position with him. Where is your teamwork? I am not talking about Random Pugs match together. If you are soloQ , ignore this.

3/See his Allies coming. You should know better than anyone else that Necromancer is lacking of disengage ability. The better you leave, the higher chance for you to survive. Then why Stay and Fight to death?

4/The point has been neutralized. Good, let keep it that way. You both enter the stalemate. So whoever arrives first to help is the winner. So look at point 1 and 3 to know what you should doing.

Overall, why try to defeat something that you know you can not defeat ALONE while you have team mates fighting alongside with you. Even so, if it is only a very small chance that you will encounter AR engineering. Tbh, since the last Necro patch, a lot of Engine has decided to give AR a drop because most of the time, it does not do anything to help them survive. Also, please don’t confuse with Elixer Engine with Trip Kits Engine.

By Solo Orr, you mean solo Champ, Vet Mobs? As a 0/10/0/30/30 with full berserker Set Staff Eles, I have no problem solo Vet, but when it comes to Champ, I wonder if anyone can do solo it o_O?

Renewing Stamina: Why a major trait?

Renewing stamina is the Arcana VI major trait, it grants 5s of vigor on critical hits, with an internal cooldown of 5s. Mesmers get the exact same trait as the Duelist 5 point MINOR trait. We have to choose a sacrifice to our utility and playstyle in order to get what virtually every mesmer I’ve ever seen gets for free.

Meanwhile our arcana minor traits are ho hum at best. 2s of fury is okay but not all that useful when it basically just gives an autoattack an extra 20% chance to crit.

I’d trade Renewing Stamina to be the minor trait slot and have fury on attunement swap as a major trait, provided it was a longer duration.

Tbh, Our Renewing Stamina is WAY better than Vigor Trait on Mesmer. Our trait procs without any Setup at all, all we need to do is keep attacking and it procs,no worry. Mesmer Traits requires some conditions to fullfill to proc:

1/Clones has to be Shattered to get the effect
2/You have to be close enough where Clone shatter to get effect

So I think Renewing Stamina is justified to be a Major trait.
