If this is not happening as many suspect it is, if there isn’t just one or two people controlling all the dawn, dusk, the legend, the lover, and all the other expensive precursors can someone from Anet just confirm it and put this to bed.
If it’s just normal market behavior can some staff just look at it and tell us there are multiple people placing these orders up.
Lol, I don’t have an inability to play the TP. Anyone could buy low and sell high. All it takes is the ability to perform basic reasoning and multiply by .85.
^Hahaha, this is so funny. Nerf us to the ground! Thieves and guardians for everyone!
I lol’ed when they talked about our mobility being similar to a thief’s mobility.
So now that portal will be homogenized, can Mesmers get a +25% passive movement skill/trait?
This door should swing both ways…
No, mesmers are already too strong because they have por-
Oh, I see what you did there.
from mind wrack.
Anet says they have issues with OP AoE.
QQ about mesmer burst in SPvP.
Judging from the past, AoE nerf to mind wrack incoming.
Yes, it’s one of the reasons it’s so boring.
Just take my portal and give me a thief’s shadow return.
Why are you not learning these dungeons within your guild? Best place for learning. Pugs just want to get in and out most of the time.
I can’t blame someone for being tired of teaching that 100th newbie the ropes, tbh. I’m weary of it myself.
Thief has a skill that allows them to pop back to any point on the map they marked. They also have a 25% speed boon.
The real reason people QQ about mes is because they get into a fight with one, see a bunch of clones, then proceed to freak out and get facerolled.
They find it easier to cry about mes rather than learn to play.
You should have no issue with skill points if you got your cash from playing the game. If you grind on the TP.
Sorry, you can’t buy those.
I’d be happy to give you guys all the bandwagoners that joined TC.
Seriously, can I do that somehow?
Listen to music. Talk to teammates. Leave and go run FotM.
Make alt, have run to ori node, mine ori, delete alt, repeat…..
Sounds like an exploit.
Probably why ori prices are falling, people are exploiting this.
This is not a real solution. I agree with TC fully.
This post has a red tag like a dev commented, but I don’t see a post.
I agree. I thought the HoM title might have supposed to be descendent. But I’m not sure…
Either way, takes all the value away from the PvP title.
All of GW2’s PvP modes involve zerging and outright outnumbering your way to victory. Why does this surprise anyone? Skillful fights can only be found in those small scale battles 1v1/2v2. Anymore than that and you have the ability to quickly kill one of the opposing side to make your numbers advantage.
Based on that ratio (10 dyes per 5 tokens). I would presume that ANet did their work and found that, on average, a player gets two dies per day.
Makes sense to me.
Two dyes per day is very generous. I’ve seen 3 in the last three weeks. Others I play with report similar values. Not a large enough sample, I know, but still…
This price increase is going to bring my legendary process to a grinding halt. There’s no way I’m paying that much for those items. No. Way. I’ll just wait a few weeks for it to drop.
TP came back up, elaborate totems are now 21s and powerful venom sacs are 19. Wonder if there’s a relation. Perhaps they cleaned out a lot of posts from banned accounts.
Mesmers aren’t dark so much as they’re massive trolls. Piking someone while I’m covered in butterflies just adds further insult to their injury.
That’s something I approve of.
Eat ice cream too, when you drink your karma jugs.
So, as many of you know they made a new effect up to “fix” the mesmer sword 2 skill description. It used to say that the skill applied distortion. Most players thought it was a bug that this skill wasn’t effected by Masterful Reflection. What do you think was the reasoning behind this change? Is a 2s reflection every 10s (8s if you trait for reduced cooldown) too much for mesmer? It only reflects projectiles, mind you.
Did they ever comment on the reasoning behind the change? It seems like they would have, but I have been unable to find anything about it on the forums. The way I see it is, I’m fine with nerfs if they’re justified. But this seems like it was a very knee jerk move. They seemed to have taken the nerf bat to a skill that was never working properly to begin with.
So in this thread, discuss the potential balance issues that the trait effecting sword 2 might cause and any feelings you have about Anet’s response to the issue. Please keep it civil, productive and on topic.
I doubt they’ll every sit down and give a good solid look at fixing our bugged skills. Not changing them, not buffing or nefing them, just fixing them to work as they are intended.
They’ll probably pull a sword 2 and just edit the tool tips for most.
(Perma) swiftness (33%) overwrites every classes signet skill (25%) speed boost. Warriors can easily obtain perma swiftness.
Disregarding swiftness, With everything else a warrior has going for it (amazing dps, amazing surviviability, amazing mobility, amazing crowd control, Heavy armor, The highest BASE HP) do you really think its ok to give Warriors a 25% speed boost signet?
Every class has something it lacks, and that is good. Even specced tankish warriors have good damage and mobility. Why would Anet give Juggernauts a permanent speed increase for free?
If I recall correctly Guardians are in the same boat as warriors. They just trade the high base HP for mitigation (aegis) and the plethora of healing options they get.
Mesmer could use some help in the movement department.
They only have one proper swiftness skill and no gap closers.
While mesmer does seem to be a very slow class, you should try the second effect of sword main hand 3, blink, and focus 4.
Great gap closers.
Mesmer sword 3 only works reliably if you’re right next to the enemy and on flat ground. Often the clone will get stuck along the way and never reach the target so that when you switch you’re still out of range. It also requires a hostile target to use so you can’t even spam it to move faster.
If everyone had a 25% run speed signet then it’d be the same as if no one had one. It makes some classes special. If you want everyone moving 25% faster, might as well just make the maps smaller and everyone doesn’t have to fiddle with signet in for out of combat and signet out for in combat.
Mesmer mobility is pretty awful though. Most have to run a specific rune set to deal with it.
It would help if mesmer focus 4 and guardian staff 3 didn’t have weird stacking issues (let alone separate behaviour for each).
No, if everyone had one then you’d have a choice. Do I want to sacrifice a utility skill to move faster? Instead of this, do I want to shove one particular type of runes that do not go with my build at all into my armor so I can kinda keep up?
Powerful Venom Sacs and Elaborate Totems are over 18s each now.
Keeping your skills up is all well in good, but there’s no reason to atm. I mean, if you don’t like SPvP there’s basically no alternative to compete. WvW is a place where almost everyone just runs if they encounter a fair fight. But this merrygoround point control format is boring. It doesn’t reward you enough for actually fighting players and puts far too much emphasis on moving quickly from point to point. I’d like a format that focuses on killing players not dodging them to get to the point asap.
Current format is boring to play. That’s the main reason, I think. The only appealing achievement for me is the titles, but they aren’t prominently displayed, so what’s the point? Gotta click on someone to see their title, how stupid.
Just because you’d like to waste your time fighting trash doesn’t mean we all should have to. It’s silly. If you don’t want to skip then make a group with the condition of no skipping. Is that so hard?
Glad I waited on buying up for bifrost.
I bet you can get any ranks they add by hiding in a zerg. They’ll mean nothing. Calling it now.
Their teleport is a “weak version of blink” that does damage. When did blink start doing damage?
Or they could, I don’t know, but a LFG tool in the game instead of putting off the responsibility to a 3rd party. What happened to holding a company accountable?
What about us solo runners? What will we do? Kill yaks for gold/karma/xp?
I can solo cap a supply camp. Do I deserve no reward for that effort?
You can assume a “perfect” situation where you can’t communicate outside of the means the game allows.
Assume the ideal world for the parameters set. In this case, no outside game communication. Remember this is just an exploration of thought. Though it might be too much to ask of some of us…
THIS IS A THOUGHT EXPERIMENT NOT ANYTHING MORE
In this thread, let’s discuss the effect the WvW map and it’s info has on the game. Also how communication is handled in WvW.
I was thinking a day or so ago, how everything in WvW would be very different if we didn’t have these features. Take the map for example. Let’s say we strip away all the extra info on the map. The crossed swords, the yak locations, commander icons. Let’s say we just had a map showing enemy/allied holdings. How would this change the game?
We’d have to coordinate more. Communication would be vital. Sentries and guards would be even more necessary than they are now.
Now let’s take it a step farther. Strip out team and map chat. Only have local chat. You’d be forced to send messengers to update commanders. They’d have to coordinate out of a central point like SM or from your spawn. They could be intercepted and stopped. Info trade would have more of a strategic value.
Is this better than our current WvW? I don’t know. But considering it is certainly interested. So share your thoughts and let’s discuss. Keep it friendly, cheery, and on topic.
I’m sorry but there is some really hard fail in here when it comes to understanding probability theory.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_%28probability_theory%29
Tbh, I’d rather have siege ladders and other things like that first.
As far as the penalty currently in place…
“Each time a character gets downed, that character accumulates one point of downed penalty. For each point, 25% will be removed from the starting consciousness bar the next time that character gets downed. Each downed penalty point expires one minute after being added. If a character goes down with 4 points of downed penalty (ie. five times within one minute), they will go straight to the defeated state.”
Does nothing to your stats while you’re up and wears off quite quickly.
I have no issues with it if it’s implemented properly. I mean, it fits right into the lore. For those not wanting it encroaching on their “fantasy.” Have you seen a siege golem? Have you noticed that flame rams hover? They’re asuran tech.
There’s PvP in there for a reason. If you don’t like it being camped get a force to clear it. Whole area is a war zone after all.
Downed state makes the game easier. There is nothing about removing it that would make the game any less difficult. Stop making assumptions about my abilities. It’s silly. It’s also silly that you’d hop into this thread and try to brag. Iirc, can’t pets res a ranger when it’s downed. No wonder you love it.
We’re talking about it’s effect on WvW. The culture it creates and how it molds combat. Anything to add on any of those points?
They removed healing, and the trinity because people cried about not having the skill to down healers, or groups with good healers.
Now you’re crying about the downed state. Come on guys, this is embarassing.
I guess not.
We’re talking about it’s effect on WvW. The culture it creates and how it molds combat. Anything to add on any of those points?
after reading this thread I decided to give it a try… I put 4 exo shields from dungeon tokens and the very first try gave me The Chosen
This is what’s wrong with the legendary process. Utter disregard for achivement. Just toss crap into the forge! You’re so legendary!
No insult to you poster. You’re just working with in the ridiculous system Anet has placed us. Give us a scavenger hunt already. At least it might be a real legendary process. >.<
It does have a terrible effect on solo combat. There are many many times where I downed one of a group with only two/one left to fight that I lost due to downed state. Thing is, if they’re downed by me they just get a res. If I’m downed, I get a pike in the face. It creates lazy, zergy players. They don’t play well because they don’t have to.
It all ties back to WvW creating and anti-skill culture on an individual basis.
Tried to advertise my siege stockpile amounting into the 100s for sale. No one on the server was interested or even raged at me.
Update:
Some one linked me to this- http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit
Although blueprints are soulbound, they can be dropped when equipped, allowing them to be passed to other players. Players will sell the blueprints to other players for coin. While transfering blueprints in WvW is intended1, selling is not.
Players will spam the chat about selling blueprints, otherwise players will be unlikely to observe the actual trade. Selling in this fashion is not only subjected to suspension (players selling blueprints should always be reported) but is also highly susceptible to scams.
Is that Anet’s stance on it or just people assuming?
Anet has said on the forums that they want siege to be tradeable directly, but can’t due to technical reasons. So its’ not against any rules. However, due to the means by which you have to trade, it would be very, very easy to scam someone. So be careful.
Link to Anet dev saying it’s okay and not an exploit:
