Since you clearly don’t read anything I’ve written but what appeals to your opinion of me, I’m going to ignore you from here on out.
Actually, let’s lock this thread up. I think it’s going to be tough to keep a discussion going.

There is no problem with the thief class. Go complain about mesmer like everyone else.
Yeah, glad to see thief getting some much needed attention.
Ah, another mesmer complaint thread. I guess the last round of nerfs still left a few people unable to kill all mesmers. Don’t worry, we’ll fix that soon enough!
Like with any class a mesmer chases, you only catch them if they make a mistake. The whole “everyone can outrun you” thing comes with being the shell-less turtle mesmer is.
You should be switching them around as needed. Nothing wrong with two stun breakers.
Although I have to say, I’ve never seen this guy, even though he claims to organize and “do a lot for the server”.
As it stands, if this was seen in mapchat of WvW, especially during peak, he would be hammered continually by the majority of the community on at that time, since we all give what we can for the good of the server, not just to line our pockets.
He’s free to do what he wants, but his actions will have repercussions, and I would think that would be the exact same way on most servers.
Do you play in the overnight? Do you ever leave your army of 1 spammers? I doubt it. I run solo or in a small group. I’m the guy that keeps your zerglets supplied. Most of my prints come from camp capping. I’m happy to “line my pockets” with discounted siege. I make a fortune selling an item I never have the chance to use. You know, none of that money ever goes to camp or fort upgrades. I just sit on my kitten farming dolyaks while you guys go do the real work. /sarcasm
It’s comments like this that make me want to leave WvW. TC, for the most part, has let me down on this instance. But you guys don’t need players like me. You have your zerg. Tier 2 ftw.

Wait…people are complaining about pets, which are some of the EASIEST things to kill in PvP? AoE kills them pretty fast people, it isn’t that hard to take out a pet.
Phantasams were easier to kill. Did you see all the crying they caused?
It’s your seige, do what you like with it. If you don’t want to contribute, don’t.
But don’t be surprised if you take flak when you try to sell something that everyone else is contributing for free.
I got the idea from another TC player….
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Skill-Point-Price/first#post988568
So yeah, everyone is doing it for free. /sarcasm
Yeah, it reflects them back to the source. You take no damage if it reflects.
No automated groups. God forbid we have efficiency. Let’s drag out the process so we can “socialize.”
The people who they call you out like that are most likely the people who spend literally hundreds of gold and badges to upgrade towers, camps and keeps when nobody else does, drops siege without a second thought, and spends countless hours in WvW. If they see you selling siege in team/map chat, obviously they would think you’re not contributing, since they already use hundreds, if not thousands of gold pouring into WvW.
But their thought process isn’t logical. I work hard for TC. I’ve been with it since beta and I’ve never though of leaving. I help out whenever is needed. Run with zergs (even though I hate it) when we’re out manned. Try to coordinate and work with the zergs. But if I’m honest, the reaction I got today has made my loyalty waiver. I was taken aback and very disappointed.
I have been using my pet to go after siege as well using “Guard” on walls, though I’ll hold off for now.
I wouldn’t stop using it as I don’t see it as an exploit (I happily used iZerker before it was nerfed). The real problem is that Anet does not seem to use consistent logic when considering problems, such that Guard and Dragon’s Tooth are not also fixed (maybe they will never be if people don’t cry about them enough, like people did with the iZerker).
People just generally hate mesmers because they force them to learn to play. Hence you hear a lot more QQ.
If I ever saw someone demanding money for a siege equipment even if it was reduced price I would look down on them, this method is almost an assured effect of a jumping puzzler mentality, as I highly doubt someone would do this if they bought it with cold hard cash.
That being said you are acting as a free loading leech to those mesmers that camp in EB puzzles for hours on end without asking for anything in return. Imagine if mesmers demanded that you pay them 30 silver for each person that they are portaling up? What you are doing isn’t much different from that, sure you may donate free siege during the heat of combat every now and then, but you are still demanding money from people off of materials that you got for free, which comes off as nothing but greedy and selfish.
I feel bad for the commanders who have bought siege off of you in TC.
Lucky you, I was still on the page. First, siege drops like candy from enemies. You’d know that, I’d think, if you played a lot. Second, I’ve portaled people myself in the JP. I find it hilarious that you all think it’s selfish to sell a good. An asset that dropped as the result of combat. I’ve got some alts that aren’t in full exotics yet. Can I get some gear. For the good of the server.
I find it funny that you all don’t see the parallel. I’m simply selling a drop. Nothing more. Just because some people seem to think it’s expected to give away a good for free, I’m supposed to comply else I’m denigrating my server, myself and my guild? No, I disagree.
The effectiveness of your armor is directly related to your combat effectiveness. Maybe we should be giving away exotic gear that we find. If it dropped for you in WvW it goes to the server. Every lv 80 should be fully geared, if they aren’t we should just give them our extra. No profit from your play. Do you not see the parallel?
I spent all day looking for a group for FotM lv 6 and AC. Could find neither. It’s ridiculous. I share your opinion that the third party solution is ridiculous. I literally made no progress today because of this. I had no fun. And now, I find myself not wanting to log in out of frustration. I don’t have a skill barrier with fractals, it’s a logistical one. Pathetic.
Maybe if there was more than one button for search and talk and grab some meatshield’s banner, we wouldn’t have this issue.
Mesmer suffereth so suffereth ranger. Sounds like the same situation as Izerker. I’m sure this will quickly be brought into balance. Grats!
Your remarks hold the assumption that everyone in WvW is a zerglet. If you read my OP, you’d notice that I am not a 1 spammer. I roam and cap camps mainly. Solo or with two or so people. I have very, very little need of siege. I also talked about how, in those rare instances that I’m with a zerg, I do contribute. So there you go.
In the past month I have probably spent 50 gold on upgrades & stuff in WvW. I’m not a commander or part of a big guild, and I’m not rich, I’ve just contributed as needed when needed. Now, I’m not saying that everyone should make this size of contribution, but everyone should make some form of contribution, whether it’s putting down siege where it is needed, or stopping by a tower when running past to see if there is any siege that needs refreshing or upgradeds starting.
Now, if you feel that you would rather make a profit than a fair contribution, then that is your choice and your right to do so if you choose, after all you paid for the game the same as everyone else, just don’t expect me to pat you on the back and congratulate you.
I’m happy to make a “fair contribution.” However I fail to see how my giving something away for free is equitable. I find it silly that you all see giving away a resource as the standard. So I can expect to get free exotics now? For the good of the server, give me your drops.
Hey if you want to switch servers, and be my pusher, I’d be happy to have my guild buy siege off you.
I think our entire Alliance would do it.Don’t be afraid to get in touch!
No thanks, I’m loyal to TC. Even if they act silly about things like this. When I see them donating their exotics to new lv 80s I’ll start to feel bad for my “filthy” siege.
I’ve been doing it for a while, but a lot of my regular customers have left the game or just don’t WvW much anymore. I tried advertising in map chat and, let’s just say, it didn’t go well. I was accused of not being a team player, of not caring about the server, and all that jazz.
None of it is true. I just see it like this. I am almost exclusively a skirmisher. Most siege is useless to me. If I ever do find myself near a zerg or helping out when we’re outmanned, I drop siege if I have it without a second thought.
However, it drops often enough that I can gather up a reasonable stock. To me, selling siege rather than giving it away is no different than selling exotics rather than not giving them to your allies. You got luck and got them. They’re your stuff and you have to right to profit off them if you’d like to. No one is forced to buy from me. I also never sell to the enemy.
Not to mention, I always sell at lower than vendor cost to purchase the prints. I manage to profit from my play and the players I sell to get a good deal as well. Seems like a win win to me.
Am I wrong? I know I won’t be advertising anymore, lol. I’ve had enough of the pious server pride stuff. But I’m interested to hear what people think.
So am I wrong on this? Are arms dealers okay and are they good for WvW? Let’s keep this polite and friendly. I hope we can discuss this rather than bicker.
How did they make that portal last so long? Lol, this was the vid that sold me on mes btw.
Sword 3 skill is horrible. It only functions 40% of the time. It’s fricking ridiculous and it needs to be fixed.
Does anyone know if the channeled bug effects thieves too? I’d assume it would.
In summation, because people are too lazy to l2p, get rid of everything that makes mesmer mesmer.
Yeah, horrible idea. Stop trying to kill my class.
When you have to run the same paths over an over, it gets a little tiring retraining newbies each run. So eventually, everyone stops carrying newbs. Find another group of newbs that need to learn and muscle through it like everyone else or find a guild to teach you. All I can say. If you’re not in a guild in a game called guild wars you’re doing something wrong.
For all the explorable modes, I see a strange lack of Arah.
I don’t understand what is causing the audio bug. I get it on my system as well. Nothing is more fun that fighting claw to hear whooomp whooomp whoomp instead of the awesome battle theme.
Staying with the group will save you money, but you’ll become a lazy player. There’s a reason individual zerglets die so easily. I roam and cap camps. I normally come out with 10 to 20s more than I started after repairs. The key is knowing how to run, how to hide, and how to fight.
I agree that the rate of income is to low for roamers, but with zerglets you just stand there and spam 1. Why should that be rewarded? I’m not trying to be rude or mean. But seriously your reward/work ratio is very large. Why should you make mint?
Something similar happened to me once. I never got my money. It wasn’t ori though… I think it was skritt bags. I just assumed that I collected my money by accident or that I lost it to the void.
All this guy does is insult the credibility of people who disagree with him. Lol, it’s quite funny. This is clearly a mesmer witch hunt. Stop trying to nerf mes. Set your sights on something new that you can’t kill.
I don’t have a problem with Mesmers being able to kill things. I have a problem with the fact that mesmers are essentially a requirement for a competitive team and it hurts the variety of viable team comps because mesmers have abilities which are extremely strong and not closely replicated by any other class.
I attack the credibility of those who make statements which makes it clear that they have no reason to be taking part in the discussion.
Well you don’t get to decide who has reason to participate in this discussion. Especially when the crying on this forum has an effect on all other game modes. Try to remember that. It’s not just SPvP you’re changing here. Also, you should never feel it necessary to shut someone down like that. If they really lack a point, you shouldn’t have much trouble saying why. If you can support your argument it shouldn’t be an issue if someone is saying something silly.
Well, I always end up in the positive, but the rate of income is slow compared to PvE. I also sell my siege to other players in my server. I’m a skirmisher so I have no use for an omega siege golem or flame rams when they drop. Though some people feel I should donate it, lol. Yeah, that’s why some people are broke. I’ve got a bifrost to make.
you guys has no experience fighting with good people on your side :P IRON takes out larger zergs all the time, 25 vs 30/35 is our normal zerg fight and we win 96% of them easily. downedstate is easy to crush.
Do you realize that to revive a downed player another needs to stop attacking right? so if 10 players are down atleast 10 more needs to stop attacking. so thats atleast 20 people not fighting you :P if you cant win anything that has more players then you, well then you need to get better..
Come now, it takes mere seconds to res someone with a zerg of that size. It’s not that big of an issue. My main goal with this discussion is to explore how downed state effects WvW and, how in my view, it perpetuates the use of zergs rather than smaller, coordinated teams.
To be honest, my idea of fun isn’t running with a horde spamming 1. I was thinking about why zerging was the optimal strategy in WvW and my conclusion was the res mechanic. In an individual battle, zergs don’t have to out play, they just have to have enough people to out res. It’s not conducive to an environment that fosters tactics and ability. That’s my issue with it and why I think downed state is flawed in WvW.
Most everyone in a zerg is spec’ed glass cannon. This has been my experience. I tend to avoid zergs, but they often find me. You’ll kill a guy and he’ll be right back up again, but they go down so easily it’s insane. You’d never spec that way if you knew a run back was waiting for you.
It is my personal view, that downed state in WvW hurts more than it helps. I believe that it’s the contributing factor as to why zergs are so prevalent. Can’t take an objective? Grab enough people and you can res your way through any resistance. It’s silly. It’s also why you see so many glassy builds in WvW. It’s basically a second chance if you’re in a zerg. You die and you quickly get resed, why spec for anything but glass cannon?
So what do other people think? Is downed state good for WvW or not? This is a discussion thread, so let’s keep it civil and friendly.

i love how 90% of the players on this post are totally ignoring the fact that in spvp and tpvp if a mesmer even brings time warp to the table. (Which is totally kittened because MI is better in every way shape or form.) its still on a 210 second cooldown time. that is only enough for 2 uses or 3 per game and 3 is pushing it really pushing it. because most games dont last long if your up against a good team or your team is good and know wat thier doing.
By saying you should take mass invisibility over time warp you have lost any credibility you might have had in this thread.
All this guy does is insult the credibility of people who disagree with him. Lol, it’s quite funny. This is clearly a mesmer witch hunt. Stop trying to nerf mes. Set your sights on something new that you can’t kill.
Just do the logical thing, go do something else. I’ve shelved sunrise for another legendary.
As I’ve said before, multiplication is distributive over addition. If you’re selling a single item worth 3g you pay the same tax as if you sold three items at 1g.
(.85)1+(.85)1+(.85)1 = (.85)(1+1+1) = (.85)(3)
Or is it that you assume that everyone wants a GS precursor?
Of course they do. Do you know anyone who plays an Engineer, Thief, Elementalist or Necromancer? I sure don’t.
Plays WvW for 5 mins
I know about 25 of the middle two.
Seriously, I have several of all of those classes in my guild. Your newbie is showing.
The fact that downed state exists at all in WvW is why zergs are rampant. It’s the ability of the zerg to heal faster that makes them persist.
There are also signets that res people instantly. That was possibly what happened in your case.
So, I’m wondering. How much does mesmer have to be nerfed before everyone here is happy? Can we just have you guys run trials with different spec mes and then, when you guys finally beat one, we can nerf the mesmer down to where that’s the only viable build?
It’d save so much time.
Complete data…. I guess you mean mostly complete or more complete than in reality.
I guess he means that they log and store each an every action taken in the game. Which would be smart move to do, since you can choose to mine the data for whatever reason later.
But how do you sort legitimate trades from gold sellers moving gold or players shifting funds.
They can utilize pattern recognition techniques to sort out malicious from legitimate actions. If they have enough data, the observed features of these actions should be significantly different. You should keep in mind that gold sellers, to be a business, have to repeat certain activities over and over again to do their “trade”. This is very distinct from a legit player that occasionally shifts funds.
~MRA
Yeah, but I was really speaking about the details of their specific approach. But yes, what you’re saying is accurate. It’s just the mathematician in me that hates the phrase “complete data.” (Unless it really is a catalog of all possible movement of currency without exception.)
Forgive me, this kind of careful speech was drilled into me.
This answer is as good as one from a dev.
No it isn’t. A dev answer is the only thing good enough.
sgfjsdhk.2391 is an account name. They just bought an account to use as a mule.
So many mesmers, lol. But we’re so easy to kill.
Me:
Most: Condition Thief
Least: Warrior
I always thought this was silly. Especially in SPvP and WvW. Why would the name be visible through an object at all? Just remove name tags of enemies in all PvP modes.
All they need to send you mail on the forums is your account name. If they can send you mail in game they can send it to you in the forums. They can get your account name just by adding you as a friend. Everything is probably fine.
Simply put, undercutting is the Nash equilibrium.
^Yep. He’s right.
Fractal weapons are the only weapons we can know for sure you didn’t buy your way to. So keep them just how they are.
