@jediyoda
these requirements are a joke
the hit on gpu compared to old maps is insane. drytop/sw were just a prelude. i had to really lower graphic settings to achieve 60fps, whereas in vanilla maps i had stable 60 with 50-60% gpu usage at max, around 40+ in dt/sw with 99% usage. in verdant brink its 20-30 with 99% load. for 1080p you need at least gtx960, more looking toward 970 for nice framerate and game not looking like 2005 title.

Only during the day because of all the fog effects they put in.

I get 31-34fps in Verdant Brink during the day with a gtx660 but get the full 60fps (vertical sync) in the same local at night.

I fully expect the other maps to be a bit better and for this one to speed up once they update it to no longer contain flaming, smoke belching Pact wreckage.

Which is why they should be equally beneficial.

Both methods should be viable for AF generation.

They should but clearly Anet wanted to combat the creation of bunker builds that are nearly immortal 1v1 by making it fill most efficiently when you heal others even if Troll’s is the best way outside the staff.

With how high they hold spvp balance I can’t see damage filling the bar quickly without some large offset.

With TU being the most popular Ranger heal for sPvP and the fact it will fill the bar almost full in one use, there is no reason whatsoever to not make damage a more viable method.

As for damage, 0.25% is just laughable, it may as well be 0. I put this in another thread, but that is 3.6 minutes of auto attacking with a short bow, so that you can go into the form once.

At least if Regeneration counted towards AF generation as a heal, then WHaO (and shouts in general) with RT would be very viable. Would also make WH with WBN not bad either.

I agree but this is also the same Anet who knee jerk gutted the boon sharing on WHaO because of some largely gag build in pvp.

At this point. I fully expect that the amount troll’s fills up the bar to be nerfed such that we only get Astral % when we actually generate green numbers. No more “healing” full health bars for points.

All simply because it wasn’t working as intended. Balance need not apply.

Color me shocked at release if this isn’t the case.

He specifically said

players afk macroing

That can easily mean players who have an auto clicker set up to mash “F” over and over to loot the corpses that pile up. That is, itself, an activity that is observable using dev/Gm tools and indeed bannable/infractable.

There is nothing that states that it is against the rules to go afk with a pet on “Guard Mode” and a trap set to autocast.

Agreed. But not only regen should be counted, anything that does healing should count towards AF generation including our signet of the wild.

I’m unsure whether Signet of the wild really should, since it works alll the time. I could see it being the same as a dps tick for the Astral Force, but much more and it would auto charge the force in about 20 seconds of combat

It’s super unfortunate that the Elite Spirit is bugged right now and doesnt have a heal tick because I was looking forward to testing how it synergized with Druid…

I believe it counts but the regen effect doesn’t proc at all if you are at full health unlike other heals such as trolls or solar beam on the pet.

Simply, it will slowly fill the bar during combat but not while out of combat/

No, smokescale is fine.

Smokescale therefore does ~22.5% of the ranger’s DPS in that same time. With the 15-20% number I’ve estimated, the Smokescale could afford being nerfed by about 10%, but anything more than that would land in the “excessive nerf” zone.

This is the kind of asinine logic that prevents the Ranger from ever having nice things…

old pets vs. new pets

in Ranger

Posted by: Substance E.4852

Substance E.4852

More powerful than the old ones? Hardly. New pets suffer from the same issues as the old ones, with the difference of a few of the new pets’ F2 commands being tuned as a “step in the right direction” from my stand point.

Take a look at the Tiger’s F2. It has a base 10sec cooldown and gives allies Fury within a 240 radius where it lands. Other felines that have pouncing abilities are on a 30sec cooldown. That said, I would like to see the old pets looked at and have cooldowns reduced to some degree for higher usage.

Then we have F2 commands of the Wyverns. The Wyverns themselves are horrible pets but their F2 abilities are nice and instant. The Electric Wyvern has an instant F2 command that I would like to see applied to old pets (as you mentioned) as well.

On a side note, I really wish they would turn the Jungle Stalker’s “Mighty Roar” just like the Tiger’s Pounce. No more 3s animation doing no DPS. Just a straight up, hard 2-hit combo pounce that grants allies Might would improve it so much.

The shadow stepping attack on Smokescale actually hits amazingly hard. It would outclass Tail Swipe on drakes if it weren’t rooting and channeled.

I agree that the Wyverns are trash though. They couldn’t even hit an npc river drake running in a strait line.

Moon Beam fills up astral force way way too fast. just spamming it on a golem fills my bar up in under 10 seconds. whereas all other weapons fill it up dreadfully slow (by doing damage)

I think this was the point.

If they didn’t make it dependent on heals to fill people would just run bunker builds and use shortbow/longbow to keep the bar constantly filled and spam aoe heals.

Do you really think Anet is just going to up and make Druid some kind of impossible to kill uberbunker?

The point is that you build Astral Form by healing others, not as a form you build up your self to burst heals at will.

We heal no bags?

in Ranger

Substance E.4852

I made the suggestion that Lingering Light could fix this issue. Make it deal X% of the health healed as damage as a PBAoE around the Druid whenever they heal something. Also, make the damage scale with Healing Power, not Power.

While I like the idea, this could end up being grossly overpowered in WvW if it’s balanced to be of any use what so ever in spvp.

Solar Beam hitting a full 9 times per cast is around 22% of the bar and we have no idea if astral wisp has any proc limit.

Between those two you could be in Astral mode almost more often than not in a fight. Facerolling 1-4 in Astral Mode could end up being a rediculous amount of damage for little to no drawback other than being point blank unless it’s as low as ~10% of a heal.

Can we get a buff to shortbow now?

in Ranger

Posted by: Substance E.4852

Substance E.4852

I love all you guys’ ideas, But is it only me but we need a increase in base dmg the shortbow does, i think its most weak Dps weapon out of all classes.

I don’t think so, I want more condi application so it is LESS hybrid than it is now. It does reasonable direct damage now because of the rate of fire, so although I would buff that slightly, I’d prefer to see it get more condi. We don’t really have a good condi weapon, except torch, but that’s 2 skills. SB also needs its CDs reduced, 4 & 5 particularly.

Yes I would agree on reasonable, but it does not scale well with the power stat. Thats the thing, if you wanna go SB with high dps, you can’t. (I know there is LB, but how bout people who want to play SB)

We need a dedicated condition weapon and something is going to have to give.

Necros don’t use scepter in a power build and neither do Mesmers. Same for Warriors and 1h sword and Engies with certain kits.

Whats the new key drop rate now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Substance E.4852

Substance E.4852

Then I will just chalk this down as another line of BS from Anet. Thanks all.

Why? There’s no evidence at all for what the drop rate was pre-patch (except: very very low). And there’s no data now either for whatever the new drop rate might be (except: very very low). All we have is stories from people who did or didn’t get a few keys; we don’t know how many drops they are getting, so we have no baseline with which to compare.

tl;dr we don’t know the drop rate before the patch; we don’t know it after — it’s (so far) impossible to say if it’s higher or the same.

You are 100% right. There is No evidence that they raised the key drop rate at all. Without Anet showing us the actual drop rate it’s just empty words (BS).

I got one yesterday which brings my grand total up to 3 in 3 years.

Pretty sure there are people who have seen more precursors drop from mobs in less time…

Really ANet? Re: Quaggan Rave

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Substance E.4852

Substance E.4852

This change reflects a complete and utter lack of prioritization skill on the part of Anet management and whomever is involved with deciding what gets changed/fixed and what doesn’t. This game has hundreds, perhaps thousands?, of bugs that need to be resolved because they affect gameplay, and yet management chooses to waste precious dev time removing something that the majority of players saw as nothing more than cute fun.
It is sickening to think that while they constantly beat the drum of “we’re working kitten the expansion” as an excuse for why they can’t focus on player issues, that they found the time to make the changes to prevent the players from having a little fun with the quaggan transforms.

As I said above, this most likely is a result from fixing a different bug or changing something that may have caused it from the start.

I somehow doubt it. Anet has been pretty stringent in combating animation glitches even if they have 0 effect on game play.

It all really started when people figured out the humping/thrusting animation glitch with the “How to dance vol 1” item.

It would have been pretty easy for a short quaggan flailing their arms in the air in a game with 10" men/women to get lewd very quickly.

Nomad or Cleric?

in Ranger

Substance E.4852

That’s probably very true, and it actually brings me a lot of hope. I think the days of seeing “full zerk or kick” are behind us. Now I think groups will be a bit more tolerant of what gear players use. Those highly skilled players with berserker armor will probably be able to squeak by, but others will surely have an easier time.

It depends.

As soon as folks figure out the HoT and Raid mechanics, the meta will slowly shift back to whatever the maximum dps option build is to both cut back on total time and to minimize the chances of mess up. The latter will be very important in Raids where reviving is not possible.

It’s the same in any other game. The only difference is that here we don’t need tanks or healers where as bringing 5-10 dps classes in WoW or FF14 = guaranteed failure.

I agree with this but I wouldn’t say FULL zealots. I’d make a case for working in a bit of toughness too. Irenio full on declared that Berserker meta days are over so I interpret that as you need to work in some toughness. A dead healer is a useless healer. I don’t want to get ganked by players or 1-shotted by monsters either.

It’s likely over in the sense that ultra casuals won’t be able to face roll everything the game has to offer in fullzerk but I highly suspect very skilled players will be able to nearly full zerk the HoT content.

Again, all speculation.

Edited to add more.

No, that;s the exact problem. Kick and Pounce’s 300 range forces you to move forward and you can not perform any other actions while being transported.

It’s likely a base mechanism of the engine and not easily worked around, if at all.
One fix would be to get rid of the gap close spam entirely and offset with other changes.

The only other thing I can think of is to make 2 versions of kick and Pounce with the first being the standard 130 range versions and only have the 300 range versions activate on targets 131+ units away.

I have no idea if this is even feasible but it’s the only thing I can think of to keep the functionality but allow for strafing and dodge rolls throughout the chain.

Also, they are never, ever going to make it bleed on hit. That would get nerfed faster than HaO did.

It would, but not because it was genuinely OP.

You can only maintain ~7 stacks of bleeds. This would have been very powerful back before the condition changes but Crossfire never got compensated for when bleed ticks were reduced.

It’s only about half as damaging as it was and would in no way be OP especially given the large amount of projectile counters in the game now.

If it only lasts one rotation it isn’t permanent. That’s essentially the exact opposite of permanent’s meaning. Your initial argument was that the Ranger could maintain permanent stacks of max might due to WHaO. There are certainly ways for a Ranger to get high stacks of might but this isn’t due to WHaO. We’re getting into the land of shifting goalposts here so let’s bring it back to the original point: There was no reason to put a 3 stack might cap on WHaO. It was not the problem with the skill.

You simply ignored all of the other sources I gave you evidence for, I am not shifting the goal posts. I demonstrated how to maintain 8 base stacks permanently with an occasional spike up from Mighty Roar or teammates stacking might as well.

Teammates stacking might on you is completely irrelevant to the question. They can stack might on you all day without WHaO. It has nothing to do with WHaO. As for 8 stacks of might? It’s nothing. 16 stacks of might? That’s a good start. But your argument was that a Ranger using WHaO could permanently maintain 25 stacks of might. This is incorrect and has been shown to be incorrect.

The group stacking was evidence of how the might stack could be topped off to 25.
Thanks to a little reminder from Oberon.
5 from JG stalker (Naturemagic + Beastmastery = 22s duration on a 20s CD)
3 from Call of the Wild Warhorn (Windborne Notes + Strength runes = 24s duration on a 24s cd)
3 from Clarion Bond (24s duration 24s CD)
2 from Sigil of battle (20s duration on a 9s CD)
3 Zephyr’s Speed (15s duration on a 15s CD)
These are all maintainable with moderate build sacrifice, before using WHaO to double the stax for their duration, meaning you could have had permanent 25 stax of might with the “old” WHaO (or close enough to not matter).
Sort of proved your argument for you, but I’ll butt out if you want…

I believe you are the one to have been proven incorrect. But Im going to sleep now.

This assumes some kind of impossible situation where you are never not swapping to a stalker since it will be 32 seconds between the applications of mighty roar (not counting the 3s cast time) if one were to keep zephyr’s speed on cool down.

-Swap to Stalker, Proc zephyr for 15s, Proc Roar for 22s
-Swap again to Proc zephyr for 15s, Roar has 6s left
-Swap back to Stalker, Roar has been expired for 10 seconds and needs another 3 seconds to reapply.

It is not possible to swap to the next pet and back to the stalker before Mighty Roar expires.

Im not even crying so much because of WHaO nerf, but because how fast they nerfed the skill, how much do the devs hate rangers, they had to actually hotfix it as if it were some sort of ridiculously game breaking bug lol

Well they buffed Longbow in several patches, and Longbow was a balanced weapon before the buffs. So they don’t hate rangers too much.

The Longbow was a joke before the changes.

Damage was abysmal at close range. At long range you could just strafe to avoid the arrows entirely, and Rapid Fire was a drop in dps at max range.

Not to mention it took them something like 2 years to buff longbow and before doing so they nerfed the shortbow into the dirt to make longbow more appealing

lol, best part of that update was the whole “Ya, okay guys, we cut the range by 25% for ‘reasons’ but we bumped the damage of skills 2-5 up to the amount of a single auto attack hit!”

I agree. also not sure what amulet they were using in that conference demo because solar beam seemed to hit like a truck.

It was probably either an assassin or zerk amulet judging by how often he was criting on targets.

It wasn’t any amulet with healing power as they specify the healing shown as the baseline amounts.

They also fail to realize druid is not a pure healer. Most of its attacks still do damage, and we have no stat combo in the game that is 100% heal oriented. they all still contain some damage modifier

Nomad’s is Toughness Healing/Vitality. Clerics would still be better for a pure healer and Zealots for a hybrid but there is a set for a total passive build.

It’s been that way since the second update that changed it to trigger when we are damaged back in June after it was converted to a trap.

Don't call old things "New"

Well, they are new arrivals to the gem store after a hiatus. And there are an influx of new players who haven’t seen, or bought these things, so they are certainly new items to them.

How’s the view of the universe revolving around you?

A: That still doesn’t make then “New”, it makes them “returning”.
B: The entire game is new to people who just bought it. Shall Anet advertise it as such every time they update the game?

They seem to get turned into a different thing all together. I doubt they will retain their secondary effects.

Watching the video you can see the Moose’s rapid fire arrows get turned into shining light projectiles that heal.

Except, people aren’t stupid. You cannot “soften the blow” and the haters you mentioned are going to leave if something (or enough) of what they don’t like is being introduced.

Now the question is if it is wise to drive away thousands of players who had been around for ages while desperately looking for a way to reinvent the game.

I seriously doubt anyone would quit the game if mounts were introduced…
Honestly that is just silly. If you don’t want mounts it’s simple, don’t buy one.

By the way I am neither for or against mounts. but people talking of quitting over silly things like this is just, well, silly.

Because grafic clutter is a thing, and I’d rather see developer (and artists) time spent on useful things. Also many advocating for mounts want speed boosts etc. Those are game changing factors.

While I agree that the proposed mass exodus will likely not happen. I’d not go as far as calling people abandoning the game over such a thing stupid.

If people leave because they introduce (more) mounts then they probably had only the “well, it has no fee so that’s something” reason for sticking around.

As far as speed boosts go. They could give a constant 50% boost and it would change nothing. You probably wouldn’t be able to use them in WvW, combat dismounts you, and PvE isn’t going to suffer from people moving faster.

If anything, an easy source of super speed would encourage people to release and run back when they die in world events.

We said we didn't want the trinity

or some post by A-Net dev specifically stated that the whole “zerker meta” is a result of an overall design flaw within the game.

the design flaw is that zerker builds can evade damage with skilled use of dodge roll, not lack of trinity

Being skilled is a flaw?

Yes, because apparently it takes skill to stand in damage and live through it by having toughness or being healed by some druid spamming heals on you. Watching the boss and aoe circles and dodging… that’s a flaw.

I love people who kitten on trinity who clearly have never played a trinity based game or frankly any other MMO besides GW2.

Truly experts in your chosen field.

Who said i did not play a trinity based game? I did my fair share of tanking, healing, dpsing. It’s actually not any better.

Then you know that most other games also involve moving out of red circles and instagib zones even when they do have very strict tank and spank trinity.

You also know that the game doesn’t have a controllable aggro system to even tank. All the nomad gear and druid heals in the world won’t matter if the boss wanders away and attacks your zerk ele for “reasons”.

People who cry that the sky is falling and that this is somehow the antithesis of Anet’s Quicktime Event “press x to not die” pve style either don’t know what they are talking about or are being intentionally disingenuous.

I would wager a guess that it works the same as Wall of Reflection aside from converting, rather than reflecting, them with the same catalog of applicable projectiles.
