The old D/D ele is too weak without Celestial to carry it. Now that Celestial is removed, we can objectively look at the build and buff it accordingly (mainly the damage part and active defense, don’t buff the sustain).
What are the main 4 stats needed to make d/d ele viable? Anyway a 4 stat ammy could work?
Edit: even if it means adding a new oneD/d ele was only viable because of sustain and might stacking. Even if they had the optimal stats (vitality toughness healing) it doesn’t matter since might stacking was nerfed and revs can get the same amount of might from pressing a button.
IMO the days of d/d being a good damage class is over.
I’d much rather anet focused their efforts on making s/x a viable dps build.
Have you tried something like Mercenary ammy with runes of divinity and might stacking sigils? Or if your damage is good enough trade out your runes for a defensive or hp runes?
The thing is you need to work very hard, wasting dodge/blast/sigil to get the same amount of might that Rev can press one button for. Not to mention the Rev facet gives might to the whole team.
Since they removed Celestial, they should buff the damage multiplier for D/D back up. It doesn’t need to be too high, about 10-15% from the current one would be a good start. Also buff active defense, but keep the sustain to be the same right now though. We don’t want immortal D/D to make a come back.

Now that we’re focusing on more QoL changes, would it be possible to implement this for the next pre-season?

You must get hit to remove 1 condition. It’s kind of useless unless you’re running Cleric.

According to our logs, the person playing as “Sam” was not the owner of the account
Out of curiosity, how do you find this information out. I know you wont say details, but it makes me question my privacy.
It’s very easy to find out. First, you look at the login history. Second, check the keybinds. Third, check the playstyle/build (and things like the order of utility slots). Finally, observe the game and deliver the ban hammer.

I would never pick a rev over an ele but ok.. You have a right to your opinion.
The comp 2 revs 2 mes 1 druid is very strong. With the amount of moa/burst/cc from both Mesmer/Rev, they can easily shut down the other team and kill one in split second. Basically, the whole comp is extremely mobile with a lot of CC/immob/Daze/moa. This comp hard countered Ele since they have at most one Armor of Earth.

It still removes a condition periodically if they above 75% and I main ele, so trust me with fire 3 evade, 2 dodge rolls plus overcharge water, I will never go below 90% against a necro 1v1 because until he gets me below 75% I am constantly cleansing his condi’s.
It’s funny. DS only remove one condi per second, on struck. Any competent Necro I know can apply more than one condition per hit.

…to look for the counter to Tempests and it laughed at me. Actually there is nothing listed. Not even a TBD. Not even a blank. There just isn’t a category.
Is there actually something that counters the Tempest because this class can really be a pain in the kitten with all of its sustain?
Is this a joke?
You can hard counter a meta Tempest with invocation Rev or Reaper. Like, I’ll win over a meta Tempest with those two builds 100% of time, regardless of skill.

Look at your damage. Like wtf, you healed your team more than you deal damage? That’s an indication of a wrong play style.
I think it’s best if you recorded a game where you lose so people can see how you do.

Just to clarify, I’m not saying Staff Ele is fine. You have to indeed work a lot harder to win with a non Healbot staff Ele. When I played Necro/Rev for the win, it was so much easier. Glass Rev can deal 20k+ damage in 2s. And Necro can win all the class 1v1 (with Thief you need to time weakness well).

I played a glass staff Ele soloq to Legendary this season, with like 90% win rate (mostly win streak) It’s actually not that bad, and pretty fun.
The key is don’t get hit.
I had zero toughness, so avoiding getting hit is a must. Fortunately, if you show up to a fight late, they usually don’t focus you, and just think of you as a healbot. Then they are surprised when you pulled a Meteor/Air Overload.
Of course, playing a glass staff in Legendary takes a lot more focus than a normal D/F heal bot. Positioning is extremely important. Denying rez with Air #3 or earth swap.
Tips vs classes:
1) Mesmer: Dodge into their clones. Mostly don’t run around so you don’t get killed with torment. Meteor/Air can clean them up well. Don’t be afraid to run with Fire #4. You’re not a bunker.
2) Rev: you must always be able to reflect their sword #2. If you can’t, you need more practice to play at Legendary. After that, it’s just a matter of keeping weakness up and kill them.
3) Thief: Earth #4 and #5 is extremely important. After they used their stun break is your time to trap them with an Air #5 and Overload (don’t cast #5 too early, wait for your Overload)
4) Ranger: super easy. You should win 100% of the duel when you know their rotation and time reflect.
5) Necro: avoid at all cost and only +1 them.
6) Warrior: avoid melee range and wait for them to waste cooldown. It’s okay to let them have the point, and rain death from outside. Use Air #3 when they close gap, and use Water #4 on cooldown.
7) Healbot Ele: you will need another teammate to kill this.
8) Engi: avoid their AoE at all cost, unless you have Earth Overload. Also, save your Overload as a stunbreak. Kite them with Fire #4. Usually I also don’t try to pick a fight with Engi 1v1.
9) Guard: super easy. As soon as you see you get a Daze, just Dodge and you avoid all of their damage. The rest is just time reflect and kill them with AoE. You should win 100% of time.
In general, glass staff is amazing at 1. So don’t try to hold point and 1v1. Also, if the enemy stick to you for the whole match, don’t try to outrun them. Just Dodge/CC a bit to wait for Air Overload to be off cooldown, then ReboundArcane Shield and kamikaze them xD. You will be surprised at how many thieves I killed this way.
P.S: I use the trait for stability during Overload.
P.S.S: I also haven’t played in a week or two after I got Legendary and the wings.

What would make legendary players happy to keep playing the game? Is it just quicker queue times? What if you could do other things while waiting? What if there was something other than leagues all together like unranked arena that legendary players could go to until more players make it to legendary?
How about asking the question what would make all the ranked players happy to keep playing the game, cause right now I am disheartened and completely de-motivated by the system. Its making me hate spvp.
Why are you disheartened? Is it the inconsistency of match quality?
Yes, most matches are blowouts even in diamond division. I rarely get close matches.
I don’t understand this desire for close matches in a ladder. It’s competitive by design. This is not unranked where they use MMR for closer matches.

That´s how i play most of the time. Start air, and swap fire/earth most. Rarely use water. But this is not the meta spec! If you trait water you use it or you loose a lot of your potential. And playing staff you know about water flieds ;-).
The Water #5 field on staff has a very long and clunky cast time. Basically, during the time you cast that, a Thief/Rev can already down you. And then, to be able to take advantage of that field, you need to precast Earth #2. In fast PvP combat, Focus is indeed superior.

Focus is indeed the best weapon for Ele PvP right now. Staff requires more skill to play, and the cast is a bit slow/clunky for the most part.

Two things;
1. Theres basically no reason to continue play once you get legend. No extra tickets, no extra shinies, just a title for getting there.
2. A lot of players gave up due to constant losing which leads to huge q times. Who in right mind would bother to continue play if they lose match after match. Pvp in this game is dead as Anet killed it by their horrible and most kittened matchmaking in the history of gaming.
Personally i have reached diamond, made wings and stopped playing completely. Atm theres no reason to play, i have huge ques and on top of that i blowout other team or the other way around. No close games whatsoever, faceroll or be facerolled. S1 had more prestige than this joke if you been soloq only.
Completely agree, after getting my wings there is nothing to do but trolling for fun. Actually I don’t like PVP at all, if there is no such legendary wings, I won’t touch it at all.
Same goes WvW, I played almost 1 year now I haven’t even played a single WvW game.
But if Anet add a legendary reward I will immediately jump into it and farm it all day.
Agree. After I got my wings and Legendary last week, I basically quit (just in time for BDO to start). There is not much to play after that, and the queue time in Legendary+ just sucks, badly.

Like it or not, I respect skill players but I hate GRINDING game to get a RATING. It’s even more unfun than doing it with an opposing team that is not of your team skill level.
You will think the same as me when all your grinders with bad reputation will be Legendary.
I soloq’ed to Legendary using a Staff Ele too. Played strictly 3 games a day except weekends. I don’t think you can argue that playing 3 games for daily is grinding.

How to win:
Don’t complain about the 3 enemy Reapers. Instead, learn Scrapper, Tempest, Reaper.
In other words, adapt to the enemy comp. Adapting is so difficult for most players unfortunately though.
Except reaper is hard counter for scrapper unless the reaper is bad.
Reaper also hard countered Tempest. 1v1, a decent meta Reaper will always win a decent meta Tempest. Tempest shines much better as a healbot in teamfight though

It’s a bug, Shocking aura should interrupt UA regardless of distance. I agree with Coulter about the possible cause, that is the Rev location doesn’t change during the cast. The Ele needs to be exactly the same place Rev starts casting UA to interrupt it with a Shocking aura, and that’s a bug.
Here is another example: Engi drops a bomb, then use shield block. An Ele with Shocking aura steps on the bomb next to the Engi will interrupt the shield block.

People should be able to see their own MMR in the PvP panel. But it’s a bad idea to make them be able to see all the MMR.
It’s like everyone should know how much gold they have, but they shouldn’t know how much gold other players have. If you want to know how much gold your friend has, ask them. They have the right to tell you how rich they are or tell you that’s privacy. It’s the same thing for MMR. People should know their MMR and has the right to share it or not, but it shouldn’t be public.

For leveling, you’ll be surprised, but Cleric gear is the best. You will be able to solo all stories and open world with it, especially if you use D/D. It’s also usually very cheap.
The only other set you need is Berzerker. This is required for high level PvE content.
If you only want to carry only one set of armor. I strongly recommend Celestial. It can do anything you want, including WvW. Obviously, it’s not the best of anything, but it’s the most well-rounded set.
Here is the list of the common armor stats by name:

ok since I don’t care anymore how bout you restrict the foes you fight to ones in your tier. should make for more even matches but will take longer to match them up. I’ve heard that the starting range is 15 pips /- and it gets wider from there. so if you are sapphire how is it competitive to face a team of people 15 pips ahead of you?
Cool, that’s not too bad of a suggestion. Make the initial match up 10+ pips instead.

Very dissatisfied with PvP, particularly this season 2.
Nobody likes to to lose, and it’s the way in which one loses that makes it most unpleasant;
…yes, Scrapper/Reaper/Rev is a bit overtuned, but overall I like S2 a lot better because there is no more force 50% win rate.
Also, people need to understand that this is a competitive game mode. There will be winners, and there will be losers. If you don’t want to lose, you gotta play better. No one can change that except you.
there is nothing competitive about the season. 95% of matches are decided before the clock even counts down. and yes the season appears to working fine for you. grats on being on the + side of coin.
Oh, so what do you think we should do to make it fair? Remember, 10 players in the game, 5 win, 5 lose. Now make it so that no one complain?

Yes, I have had bad teammates, who after the game (won) I asked, he said that was his 2nd match with Reaper (explained the bad positioning). But overall, it’s better than S1.
Also, a lot more people are switching to new professions for the achievements after they reach Ruby/Diamond. So be ware of more bad match making.

What people need to realize is that this is a competitive game mode. There will be winners, and there will be losers.
Attempting to twist the rule so that everyone becomes winners just mean this is not a competitive game mode anymore. It will become PvE. The one who grinds the most win! I’m sure you don’t want that either.

No, having a thief is usually a loss. They suck. Nothing wrong with playing them, but its better to play it in unranked where they have a better chance to win.

Suggestion: We should have a Preseason between PvP Season
- The Preseason will start as soon as the Season ends, and ends one day before the Season starts. This basically fill the gap between Season
- Matchmaking during the Preseason will use MMR. Match making during the Season will only use ladder ranking (no MMR).
- At the end of the Preseason, people will receive bonus pips based on their MMR. The amount should be tuned so the top players start around Emerald (for the very top players, they may get to Sapphire). The bonus pips will be applied at the start of the next Season, effectively bumps the top players out of Amber (all the rewards are still kept).
This is a solid idea. But, there will be a problem in starting people at emerald and sapphire. Forum will be filled with tears from winstreak heroes that moved past amber emerald easily thereby grabbing free 35 league tickets. So, essentially those people will be missing out on free 35 tickets. To avoid this ANET may have to change the reward system. Not sure if they can do that in the middle of 4 planned leagues (assuming based on achievements — year of ascension I thru IV) .
So, here’s what I think that can be done.
Maybe ANET can give league ticket coupons during pre-season. For example, you get 1 ticket coupon for every 10 wins in pre-season with a max of 35. I am just putting arbitrary numbers here. They need to proportion it out to the player’s league placement. Someone who is placed at sapphire at the beginning of the season will have to collect 35 tickets. Person who collected 15 will be placed at emerald. Person who collected zero will have to be at least rank 60 to be placed in Amber with 50 played matches. When the league season starts, the coupons can be exchanged for actual league tickets. They can even break it down further by placing people in certain tiers within a division based on how many coupons they collected. For example 10 coupon heroes will be placed in amber t3 while 20 coupon heroes will be placed in emerald t2 etc. This will keep people busy and everyone will remain connected to PvP.
I am proposing ticket coupons instead of tickets during pre-season because ANET wants to timegate this backpiece/glider acquisition. So, this system keeps ANET timegaters somewhat happy while playerbase engaged to PvP. Match made per minute will always remain high. Winstreak heroes won’t have a legit chance to complain.
That said, current loser vs. winner system will need some tweaking. It will work but, there needs to be some balanced matches. That will also mean high sustain or high dps meta gotta go.
I think you misunderstood my suggestion, so let me clarify it. People will receive bonus pips, which act just like the normal pips for rewards purposes. For example, as soon as the new Season arrives, I log in. The screen will show that I earned 35 pips due to my MMR during the preseason. It then plays the animation of gaining pips. Then I receive about 6 pips chests, including the League tickets.
Basically, imagine you get awarded pips at the start of the season. You won’t lose any reward at all. It’s the same as gaining those 35 pips normally by winning 18 matches in a row. The only thing missing is the reward track, but that’s fair.
