Lol, gotta update your view then. Having 1+ Thieves doesn’t mean a loss anymore. No one can tank against 2 Thieves. You will be able to abuse the 3k range travel to +1 fights and down people instantly.

You won’t have a problem disengage. None of the class right now can capture a Thief who wants to run away. Marauder is much better for damage given our high crit chance.

What’s the most common cause of your deaths?
Scrapper, Occasionally Necro. Most of the time getting singled out right away in team fights. (basically any opponent with sustained stability as I’m running Hammer/Rifle)
99% of the time the team I get is all over the place. Either triple capping. Not stomping. Fighting off point. etc. Basically all the stuff you see in amber.
ie. I had a engie once run from mid to home. Ignoring the 1 v 2 at home which he could’ve assisted, then running the long way around to far.
I rarely see the other team make such catastrophic plays.
The pattern I see in matches, is that it’s fairly close to around 150 points. Then everybody forgets how to play.
Alright, if it’s Scrapper and Reaper then I can’t help haha. I usually only snipe the Reaper and avoid any fight that has a good Scrapper on my warrior. They are both the top class at the moment.

You haven’t met a good Thief yet. I saw in my list multiple good Thieves playing on their alts. Their reasoning is to avoid confirming the obvious buff and get nerfed before the season starts.

Ridiculous how Anet constantly ignore that the ele class needs HUGE redesign to ever feel as viable and versatile as other classes nowadays do.
That is a pretty myopic viewpoint you’ve got going there, half the classes in the game have design issues, for example anything that uses AI which is basically broken to various extents on virtually every class that uses it, of course for some classes that is less of an issue than others, but on classes where it plays a big part like Ranger, Mesmer, etc it is a big problem, that has existed the entire game.
You should also get off your whinebox when it comes to ele and the entire game, where ele has been “meta” in PvE & WvW pretty much the entire game,

No its a bug where DS is only working in combat and when it dose this its not dealing with conditions from before getting into combat. Its not working as intended.
The first tick doesn’t count. You need to get struck again for DS to remove the first condition. If your 2nd struck gives 2 conditions, tough love. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. It’s not a great feature though.

Eles have the least health AND the least armor.
There is no even playing field. That’s why their sustain was always OP because they were balanced around it, and celestial stats. Without that, THE CLASS ITSELF DOES NOT WORK MECHANICALLY.

i’m a thief player. but i basically predicted this was going to happen. if you’ve been around long enough you’ll know that anet has a history and habit of overbuffing whatever is weakest to the point of ridiculous OPness, and then nerfing whatever was perceived to be OP to the point of being borderline unplayable. as much as thieves needed a boost, this is not what should have happened.

The part about never lose pip for losing is bad. It’s basic math. There must be a good enough inflow of Pips into the system or else people can’t rank up. Everyone starts at 0 pips, so the system has 0 pips total. Now in order for us to end up with enough people in Legendary, there must be more pips gained than loss.
Currently there are 2 major way to supply Pips into the system. You can’t lose pips while losing at the low tier, and you can gain pip if you didn’t do too badly in a predicted loss.

If your base HP is 11k, and another class can do more than 11k in less than a second, you’re basically toasted.
That’s why Ele were forced to Cele. There were too many class that can deal a 10k burst, making them inviable.
We really should have standard HP for everyone at 19k.
There are more classes besides ele with to low base hp.
I do think that there should be a difference between classes in hp.
Warrior should have more than ele for example.
Therefore I suggested to increase the hp for everyone by 560vit.Some classes who have enough vit with that change, wont go for extra vit, but they go for other stats that they need, like more offensive stats.
Others who needed a lot of different stats (like Celestial gave), will also go for other stats than vit (if vit increase is done), like healing power for example.People can go for more vit than you minimally need, but that comes at the cost of other stats. Less offensive stats for example or
those who used celestial amulet that gets removed (often bunkers) will probably not go for extra vit. They will try to use this chance to get other stats that they need.
If they dont, than they will have extra vit but that comes at a cost as well.
Heavy Armor already has 300 more stats than a light armor. Which means a Warrior has 300 extra stats than an Ele. Now the HP different is another 500 stats.
If you keep the disparity in stats, then you have to buff Ele so much for it to be balanced (for example, gives it Celestial Amulet).
We should just standardize the HP, and allow the 300 stats difference for armor.

No it is not apparently, i am sitting in diamond right now, decided to do prof achive on classes i barely play (and not so good at) and that have like 0 mmr probably. The matches are stupidly easy compared to ridiculous odds i get on my main(thief).

The reason why your matchups in Diamond has been getting better is because most good players has already gotten to Legendary a while ago. And I’m not saying you’re bad or anything. I know you’re decent, and that’s why you will have easier matchups in Diamond when most people moved up.

The thing is, just like the daily class achievement before, it make MMR worthless. You have matchup where the system thinks it’s fair, but it’s actually not because people are playing their new characters.

1. Anet should increase the cooldowns of every Skill/Utility by 10%-20% for every class (except maybe thief and warrior).
2. Reduce the uptime of every boon by 10%-20%
3. Reduce the uptime of every condi by 10%-20% (well maybe not this one)
That could be the first pass just to bring the power creep down. Then go deep and look into balancing better.
PvE players will cry lol, so it won’t be implemented.

The changes for season 2 will make this less of a problem. Each team will have a tight MMR grouping such that each teammate should be very similar in skill to you. This is different from season 1 and unranked where we balance players on each team, i.e, high MMR and both sides and low MMR on both sides.
The goal is to ensure than if the higher skilled team wins, all the higher MMR players go up the ladder. Less unlucky high MMR players will drop on the ladder, and fewer low MMR players will get carried up the ladder.
So if you’re unlucky and got matched with a low MMR team, you will keep losing and have no way to recover?

Honestly for ele dps to ever have a chance they’d have to undo the RTL nerfs. ~16 seconds RTL cooldown is what made berzerker ele viable at the launch of the game, because you could actually back out and heal up again instead of being forced to brawl every fight out with your sustain.
The RTL change was a big change. After that and the Mistform series of nerfs, all the Ele meta build became putting on as most sustain as possible and outlive the opponents. The reason? They couldn’t disengage anymore. Even with RTL nerf reverted, Ele without sustain can’t escape against a Thief or Rev with 5s port.

This is my preferred version. Its more smooth, more focused, and does not have too many flashy effects.
If a Reaper hugs you, you’ll die. If a condi Rev port to you, just sit down and don’t struggle. It’ll go away faster.

Honestly that’s wishful thinking. I’ve played with you multiple games on my glass Rev, and you didn’t survive any focus fire on your marauder Ele. You got rezzed a few times from your teammates though. Like, as soon as I put a target on you, you’re into running mode and dead a few seconds later.
Now imagine a thief with 30% damage buff, and those Mesmers who couldn’t bunk anymore, go back to Glass burst Mesmers.
There is no such thing as “Glass Rev” when at 50% health, 50% of damage is mitigated for 6 seconds, perma stability and 5 dodge rolls. If you were using retribution amulet, there is nothing I can do other than relying on teamates.
Glass as in Marauder amulet. Now if you don’t think Marauder Ele can survive and dish out similar DPS as a glass Rev, then please stop posting those wishful thinking posts. It does more harm to the state of PvP than helping.
I don’t ask for a glass Ele to win a glass Rev/Scrapper/Reaper/Thief/Mesmer 1v1, but at least Ele should have a chance instead of being completely useless, instead of being a liability to the team.

The biggest disappointment for me is that I have to wait to have fun in HoT
- Came back after work? Oh can’t do meta because the timer is not on.
- Craft Legendary? Wait 7h for an event.
- PvP? Wait 20m+ in one place, can’t do anything else
- Dungeon? Wait for a long time before people join
- Raid? Wait again, since there is no good LFG and people has to leave/join to post LFM.
It’s those tiny things that add up and make me sleepy, and then I went to bed instead. I haven’t recommended anyone to by HoT recently.

Don’t underestimate the Ele, it’s been on top before without the need of Diamond skill, celestial amulet can be replaced by the new ones without the overexagerated loss that it’s been trying to be portraited in the forus.
Yeah, because it had:
- Cele Amulet
- Energy sigil
- 3 mights on Cantrips
- Battle sigil 3 stack of mights
- 5 seconds CD blind
- Stackable Frost Aura
Now with all the above gone, it’s gonna face more nerfs:
- Aura nerfed 20%
- DS can’t protect you with condi bomb anymore. Armor of Earth gonna be a liability because Reaper will corrupt it to both Fear and Chill.
I’ll wait and see the full patch notes, but I don’t have confidence in Karl.
