I have been wondering for a while..
Rev shield #5 blocks. There is a trait Crystal Hibernation that triggers it at 25% HP. That trait doesn’t require a shield to be equipped.
Ele has Sand Quall trait, and that trait requires a war horn to be equipped.
Can we fix that?

Here’s what you’ll find if you continue with that comp: Druids lack both raw killing power and cleave. Enemies will easily Sneak Gyro-revive anybody you manage to whittle down, before the Mesmers can quickness stomp. Druids are at a noticeable disadvantage outside of 1v1, I can’t think of one reason to bring two druids.
If you sneak gyro revive, don’t you lose the point?
Yep, Decap Druid will trickle down when more people know how to play it well. It has all the best survivability of a Tempest with fewer weakness and a lot more CC + mobility.
This team is unkillable if the Reaper plays its role as a +1 well.
I’d rather not have a soloq, especially with the new improvements coming to the League system. After a while all the top team will rank up because of the win streak.

Thief is strong. Only a handful people can use it well though.
If you only get to Ruby each time, it still only takes you 2 seasons to get all the wings. Unless they significantly increase the amount of tickets required for the backpack, I think you will be fine. Even Legendary players are still gated by the time anyway.

YES Ice Spike gives Vuln BUT! the moment it would be on my bar i was downstate.
And i dont think you get the 20% extra dmg before you have the vuln on you.
Maybe if the Weak Spot trait procs before the dmg claculation for the Ice Spike …..
But the Vuln from a Single hit should not increase the dmg from that hit but the next.

DS nerf is only a trending persecution, pushed by players that wants to win every 1v1 fight, on team fights, there’s roles and each has a function, eles are doing theirs as intended as mesmers are. On those team fights DS is rarely OP, general sustainability and damage mitigation plays a more important role. In my opinion there’s a real OP trait that ele has that it’s a must pick and counters different mechanics and a whole trait line for a certain class, not a very specific build.
Not dude you need to have a CHANCE against any class or any build in 1 v1 . Having hardcounters where you have no chance cause you cant deal any dmg is just stupid and especially if you get hardcountered by 1 trait not by a single class

You’re asking for a chance for a condi Reaper to win DS Tempest. I’m asking for a chance for a none DS fresh air Tempest to win a Condi Reaper. Deal?
Just like I can’t pick a Freshair Tempest build and complain it dies to a Reaper, you can’t pick a full condi Reaper and complain it dies to a DS Tempest.
There is trait to do extra damage in ice. With it, you can get to this damage if you got full stack of vul and under 50% HP.

After waiting for 7h yesterday, I finally finished it. It’s painful, but it’s do able guys.
Diamond Skin isn’t OP, its completely useless against power builds but it walls off condition builds pretty well. The only reason we can even fight necromancers is because of Diamond Skin. Once its removed, load on the conditions and its game over.
FALSE. Reaper power builds are slow, melee range bruisers that are forced to rely on slowing down their enemies with chill or locking them down with fear in order to deal their damage. Druids also tend to be heavily reliant on immobilize. All of these are negated by diamond skin. Even if we accept the incredibly poor design decision of passive, complete condition immunity, it still counters some power builds pretty well. And yes, especially if (as you pointed out) the tempest also has permanent 40% damage reduction, high reflect uptime, and auras that chill or stun attackers.
Well..good thing eles have something to punish people that attack him..maybe one day we’ll have something that prevent us from being hit in the first place
Reflect, mistform, high mobility and near-permanent vigor aren’t enough? That’s a hell of a lot more then necromancers get.
Mistform is useless in high level PvP since you lose the capture point. It’s also on a 75s cooldown, not like Mesmer’s block. Meta Tempest has very poor mobility compare to Mesmer/Rev. And what’s the perma Vigor for if you spend the majority of your time channeling kitten cast skills?
The only thing I agree with you is reflection, but most of the DPS comes in melee range anyway.

It’s consistent with their old philosophy about balance patch every 6 months. Nothing has changed.
In March they will release a patch that nerfs Warrior.

Worse, I contacted support, and they told me to just try to wait/fail other events and try to get this up. What’s the point? I thought your philosophy was to not make people wait to have fun?
Can you just make the heart NPCs there sell the item instead? This is beyond frustrating.
I agree the CD should be 45 or less. At the moment, it’s very lack luster. One auto attack from a Rev does 3 hits, and the shield is destroyed in less than a fraction of a second. Blocking 3 hits also can’t help you with blocking a shatter from Mesmer, or any kind of burst from the new Elite specs. That lackluster utility on a 75s cooldown is too long. I think even a 30s cooldown is okay.

Yup xD. It’s sad to face ESL teams with Ambers/Emeralds in their party. Anyway, ANet said it’s fine, so there will be nothing we can do about it. I actually gained pips multiple times by getting 400+ points.
Weekends/weekdays user base are different. Weekdays players often have no obligation (gf/job) in life, so they are more dedicated. Weekends players spend much less time in the game.
It’s not only weekends vs weekdays, day/night also have different players. Pick the time that works for you.

Rev doesn’t have standard model (bug). It’s very hard to see their animation. I think it’s reported, but ANet may not act on it for a while, so.. deal with it :P

Pretty sure everyone try to adapt to their teammates (guessing everyone wanna win) but you cant adapt to inexperience.
Adaptation comes with multiple levels. You can take a look at the weapon set and equiped skills of a teammate at the start and make a lot of good educated guesses.
For example, at the start of the match, you see your teammate running far. If that’s a bunker Mesmer, you can freely go for mid. However, if that’s a Shiro Rev, then definitely run far with him too. Alone, he might lose the 1v1. On the other hand, a power Rev in 2v1 can win you far very quickly.
Most people try to adapt, but sorry if I’m too frank, only people with decent adaptation skill can make it pass Diamond+ League solo/duo queue. It’s not only about mechanical skills. It’s about really understand the strength/weakness of your teammates without them asking for help.
It’s definitely doable. Many people did that.
Really dont understand all the “totally possible” and “just carry your matches”.
Most of the time i get teams that play like total pvp newbies. Pve builds and 0 map awareness.
Not to mention the amount of useless teefs and warrs that are either trolls(diamond trolls) or players that dont care about the meta.I cant “carry” a match by myself. You know, teamplay and stuff.
It’s about matching your teammates style.
I think most people who think they get “bad teammates” is because they don’t know how to match their playstyle to their teammates playstyle. In short, it’s all about being adaptable.
Seeing your teammates like to +1 fights and left home being decapped a few times? Instead of insulting then, you can start watching home and intercept any opponent who wants to decap it.
Seeing your teammates dieing too much in team fights? It probably means they are using DPS builds. Heal them, or jumping into a fight first to consume the opponents big cooldown so your teammates can burst the opponents.
By adapting to your teammates, you increase your win rate a lot. I occasionally get matched with MMR tankers, but it’s fine because there is nothing I could do about that. However, if your teammates intend to win, you usually can adapt to their playstyle and allow them to maximize the potential of their builds/playstyle.
Sometimes I feel the need to bump this thread, but it’s sad that we even have to deal with this.

I got to Diamond solo/duo queue in 3 days after a 2 weeks vacation. It’s definitely possible. The other friend who I queued with got to Legendary (he played a lot more, and better too). Also, most of the Diamond+ players I have met are pretty good. I think it’s not good to just blanketly say they grouped or abused the game.
Warrior, Guardian, Necromancer, Revenant.
To help you understand the scale: warrior/guardian can 1v3 veterans while ele struggling with 1 veteran (during leveling).
I mean, there shouldn’t be any big technical reason it is limited at 12. When customers want to give you dollars, you don’t turn them away like that

Maybe something done with Alacrity, make it a normal boon or reduce the amount on wells… that’s the only thing I’d consider as far as necessary changes goes.But yeah, I can already see people accusing me of defending mesmer because I main one and unwilling to see it’s “OPness”
For Ele it’s even worse. Compare a glass Chronomancer/Scarpper and a glass staff Tempest. Which one do you want for your team?
- Chronomancer has multiple ways to survive a combat, at least until help come, or you can stealth port away.
- Scrapper on Marauder has as much sustain as a full bunker Tempest
- Marauder Rev has a lot of blocks/evades/boons and a great heal
- Even a glass DH and Thief has more survivability than a glass Tempest.
- On Tempest, as soon as people realize you’re glass, you will be totally shut down.
Good luck running away from a Rev with port every 5s, perma stab and chill, and autoattack you for 4k. In low MMR you can sneak in a few Meteor, but when you face decent players I’d love to see how it can survive. Even then, a Marauder Rev/Scrapper is still a better +1 than glass Tempest because they have better DPS.
In short, glass Tempest has worse damage, and worse survivability. That’s why most of the Ele run bunker. There is nothing else.
…because D/D celestial and s/f fresh air were never a thing, yup, glass staff is definitely the only ele spec.

There is nothing secret about this build, stop being annoying. Everyone that has played ranger for a bit knows how this works, the point is not killing the enemy bunker but to keep him off the point By stacking immob.
Push enemy off the point with LB4 and auto attack once = ancient seeds, then use entangle, then finally CAF5. And you can add spider immob also on top. And after all that immob is over LB4 and ancient seeds is already off cooldown so it is immob again. And when they finally get off all that immob they get wolf fear. You don’t even need the glyph for this to work but it helps if there are more than one enemy. Not really a build but a little combo trik to pull.

Nah they’re right. The build isn’t new and knocking off point into immobs/cc isn’t that hard to understand.

No point in being secretive. It’s already all over the place. I’ve seen it from Ruby and up in almost every game with a ranger.

They made the rune with PvE in mind, not PvP. It’s actually balanced in PvE.
