Pen / Shelter have been improved on our server
PvP is an entirely different game that focuses on stricter balance because they hope to have it become an esport.
So what’s your point ?
PvP has been touched specifically in every patch, just like PvE
I lol at people who think condition damage on a ranger is superior to straight Rifle burst.
It’s okay though, keep dreaming. Ranger Damage is good in long drawn out skirmish or if the target is completely zoned from the Ranger. Same can be said of the Warrior however
LOL rifle burst is the easiest thing to avoid and at the same time rifles warriors are one of the easiest class/spec combos to kill. I see a warrior kneel down in front of me with a rifle I just run straight past him and it cancels, or if I’m too far I dodge at the extremely predictable moment it fires. DONE.
The ranger however, if specced right which most PvE and WvW players don’t quite understand how to do I’ve noticed, can burst almost just as high with their condition stacks PLUS they can survive better then most burst classes while keeping up pressure and damage.
Any decent ranger will beat any decent rifle warrior, the ranger has too much control for the severely lacking rifle of a warrior.
WvW is not about 1v1 and people who think that way are not good WvW players. It’s about objectives and actually winning. In a 1v1 or very small group encounter, the rifle burst animation will be detectable and avoidable. In the more common WvW scenarios, trust me, it goes undetected the majority of the time. Ranger condition damage is largely worthless in WvW given the amount of condition removal going on. It is very disheartening to play my necro in WvW because of this. Invest time in dotting up a target and see it removed a second later. Sorry, the rifle warrior is going to far outperform a condition ranger in WvW.
This guy gets it. Sadly ranger fanboys dont understand what’s written. Your damage is only good if you’re allowed to sit there and sustain it. Which the same can be said about sustained Rifle damage. Rifle burst is superior to sb burst and no one in their right mind can deny it. Also GL dodging rifle burst you cant see coming when its from the back lines of a crowd of 20+ people.
A good meal, a movie…you know something not at your computer.
Well that’s what i’d do.
@randomfightfan… you know I forgot about the Engy… ma bad… considering all the issues that have been piled on the Engy since day 1, I ’ve never gotten round to playing one… maybe I will give that idea of yours a try, sounds fun.. and that is what interests me more tbh
Grenade engineer while fun is heavily reliant on the stupidity of other player and the engineers positioning. Abusing terrain / LoS etc… and even then its overall DPS isnt as high as say Ele. It does however have some good burst and wins the war of attrition if not locked down.
So what your saying is….
You want more brutally challenging content that doesnt allow for these builds but focuses on sustained damage output ?
Well, chances of that happening are slim unless they rework conditions. In the likely hood that actually happens you’ll see those classes you mentioned get hit with a series of nerfs to adjust for them all being able to stack unique conditions past the current 25 cap.
Plenty of tears in this thread.
Seems like a good system to me.
Why should an alt character who has never stepped foot in WvW have the ultimate title and the upgrades of something another character accomplished? Why should this set of achievements / unlocks be character bound when others arent ?
There’s really no logical rationale behind this and it only goes to isolate and dived the WvW community and Professions Utilized in it.
Ever wonder why you see far less engines / rangers / warriors in WvW ?
Cause everything they can do others can do infinity better.I don’t wonder that because all classes can use siege the same.
Right, well you got me. I forgot WvW is all about PvDoor and Siege. /sarcasm.
Lets test this theory… which one on a Siege weapon last longer through damage….
A) Guardian
B) Engineer
…. yeah right everything B can do, A can do better.Um probably a guardian. I don’t play either class so I don’t know for certain.
Not sure how it applies to the WvW changes though.
Play a guardian I guess if you want to sit on siege and take as much damage as possible?
It directly applies to WvW, almost no one is going to role the more fun classes to get these titles because its literally a burden on them to do so.
For a game which was supposed to “not be a WoW clone” and “reward you for playing” its certainly going out of its way to be exactly what it didnt want to become. Grinding WvW rep per all characters sounds eerily familiar to that game. Just sayin ANet needs to pull a 180 on this before they do more harm to WvW than the state its already in.

Not hardcore enough. If you die you forfeit your actual life.
GGWP.
I laugh at the people saying warrior! Sure those 10-12k crits are nice… after you’ve knelt down for 3 seconds waiting for it to go off….. unless ofc those Ranger dots have killed you while you stood still by that point :P
Anyway Rangers have the best single target and I’m tempted to say that Necros have the best AoE ranged (with the proper traits ofc).
I lol at people who think condition damage on a ranger is superior to straight Rifle burst.
It’s okay though, keep dreaming. Ranger Damage is good in long drawn out skirmish or if the target is completely zoned from the Ranger. Same can be said of the Warrior however
mystic weapons / legendaries / material transmutation /etc….
Until they fix some of these events people wont do them…
Between the map events breaking and the events themselves just being anti-fun (looking at you Grenth)
So yeah best bet is just to “guest” to a more populated server and check, thankfully you can guest to two servers a day so you have multiple chances to check.
Single target ranged damage
Warrior / Mesmer.
Ranger lol..
You know what sets facebook apart from this idea…
No VIP. It’s Open to Everyone. You should learn something from that method.
Simple answer. Not worth it.
Silly idea is silly.
Data storage is localized….blah blah blah
You know what, this has been answered to death, try searching for it.
There’s actually a logical reason, aside from everything being bigger in Texas.
I believe you can log in with an ALT and still get the chest, just not the guaranteed rare.
And yes, if you have one level 80 character you can still do all the events and nothing will change for you.
That’s not accurate.
Even with only 1 level 80 character things will change.
Instead of having 1 rare or higher per chest per boss event, you’ll have a menial chance at said rare or higher.
Things are changing and these are bad changes that Anet needs to step back and look at. Does changing the chest loot actually help the game. If they see it as helpful, then they need a new look. Other aspects of the game need to be as rewarding as these. That’s the real flaw, not the chest or its reward system.
They go to the only spot worth going to….
Dungeons / Fractals.
Even WvW is stupid in its current state and is nothing more than Zerging or PvDoor.
Eh….
I’d just take the 700g and turn it into more.
Then i’d outright buy the legendary i want.
I’ll wait to pass judgement on this update.
Last few things i’ve seen posted from anet have left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Been there pretty much every day for the past 2 1/2 weeks.
Any chance we can get something other than race specific dances…I mean even if it gem store related i’d take it over the existing ones.
If all weapons are the same type
I.E 4 Hammers you will get a hammer
If they are a mixture you will get a random pull
Either way enjoy playing the lottery as your odds aren’t that good.
I believe i speak on behalf of all the sane people left playing this game when i say …
No. Just No.
Stop it.
Here you go.
Fixed that thing we fixed latch patch
Cleaned up some tool tips
Still thinking about Ranger / Engineer / Necromancer balance
Nerfing Theives
Buffing Ele’s
Changing Loot Drops for Chest
Removing Culling….Maybe.
A secondary patches to patch the stuff we broke with the first patch
Subsequent patches to patch those patches
Flame and Frost updates
There you go pretty much covered it for you.
Citizens!!!!!!!!!!!!
No no, im only kidding.
Tybalt: Burn me. I’m a human girl? Whoa, i’ve got two hands and some lovely….apples.
Nah, and i personally plan to get T3 Hum for my Thief.
Don’t change it Anet.
Probably to prevent you from being permanently stuck in combat with a clone that’s stuck in the world somewhere outside of shatter range.
Just a bandaid that doesnt address the issue.
How about making the rest of the world worth participating in ?
You know those DE’s that aren’t Dragons etc…Give those better loot.

its almost like people ignore the fact that sigils exist.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Nullification
that guy just called warrior downed state….good
maybe in PvE, but unless the people you are fighting are pants on head mentally handicapped its literally the worst downed state. If they press 3…. just walk away and watch them die.
I’ll leave this here for you as its a good read to get a general idea on how to make money and get T6 mats.
Oh God…reading that is going to kill me. Going to buy like 1000 bags and probably get 10 tier 6 mats
Your odds are actually greater than that. Also farming these is equally as valid. You should be able to amass 100-200 in under 2 hours of playing if you run event chains throughout Orr.
But that’s okay, keep telling me the story isnt happening….considering we are already in phase 2 of 4. I actually believe that the story isnt happening, because ANET dropped the ball on telling a story this time and focused way to hard on a system instead.
Teaser content is teaser content, it doesn’t matter whether it’s the first second or third instalment. I directed you basically to the article without a link , so I can’t blame your fool-hardiness.
Same article as before this time with link:
Angel Leigh McCoy – Living Story: EvolutionWe’ve had long meetings, with our most colorful thinking caps on, to discuss how we will pay off all your patience during these early months of teaser content,
Colin Johanson, MMORPG interview on Flame and Frost*
World-narrative wise, February continues to build the fundamentals of this story to provide more hints and growth to this storyline as it builds into the core components and takes off in March and April.
And
Colin Johanson in a 4 part interview with Guildwars2guru.comGURU: So what kind of sort of changes might we see to the world itself as the Living Story progresses?
Colin: I think you’re not going to see a ton of stuff in February. It’s mostly just a little more setup stuff. We hit the end of the year and decided to really make that a big thing for 2013 and as a result we really just didn’t have time to build that much stuff yet. I think, looking ahead, March and April is more when we kind of get in to the cadence of what a Living Story can be. Other than that we’ll build from there as the year goes on.Just to note, that part 3 and part 4 are more in the right direction, means that its also still teaser content, I believe. And they focus on the system much more because once it is in place, then you can tell the story, It’s like inventing the TV before inventing the TV program.
I have to point this out…
The system was already in place. Any programmer worth their pay knows how to write an automated script. Anet is pulling legs if they think setting flags in a script is somehow new.
Too much gullibility here. It’s not teaser content, its being lazy.
Silly OP.
Logan is to busy running away too cook.
Single Target Ranged DPS….
Probably GS Mesmer with an honorable mention Rifle Warrior.
Well technically a sniper warrior build can deal a 9-11000 damage crit with it’s burst skill, currently the highest in the game. So warrior does win in burst damage, but that build only works to a certain finite point.
It works fairly well if utilized correctly. I mean that in the sense that anyone can run the build but in experienced and capable hands it can be pretty dang frighting, especially if you watch your buddy get 1 shot.
Single Target Ranged DPS….
Probably GS Mesmer with an honorable mention Rifle Warrior.
I know you guys are incapable of finding the right information on the living story, which totally isn’t (completely) your fault, but i just want to put this here:
From the GuildWars2.com main web site blog:
Living story article – Angel Leigh McCoyThese first couple months of teaser content have allowed us to ramp up to make the long-term Living Story an even fuller and more satisfying experience for you all. As designers have come off other projects and joined us, we’ve increased the amount of content we’ll be delivering, starting at the end of March.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/march-2013/
March 26, 2013
A hybrid army erupts through fiery portals in the Shiverpeaks. A Molten Alliance between the dredge and the charr Flame Legion has created a force powerful enough to massacre any who stand in their way. One settlement, one homestead at a time, they’re wiping out all resistance. The razing has begun.
In Flame and Frost: The Razing you’ll meet the norn Braham and Rox the charr, two Tyrians who fervently believe in doing what’s right, no matter the risk. Join Braham and Rox in a desperate battle to defend their homelands from annihilation in the third installment in this four-part series!
But that’s okay, keep telling me the story isnt happening….considering we are already in phase 2 of 4. I actually believe that the story isnt happening, because ANET dropped the ball on telling a story this time and focused way to hard on a system instead.
OP is right, light armor & heavy should be more balanced.
GW1,
Heavy = more armor
med = + element resistance
light = + mana poolGW2 should be something like,
Heavy = more armor
med = +20% endurance reg for 6 piece
light = -20% heal skill cooldown for 6 piece(best bonus for lowest armor)Broken.
Not even going to point out why as its blatantly obvious.
Its called a suggestion. Numbers are meant to be tweaked… or maybe it offends your Warrior/Guardian that you are so proud of?
Im proud of all my characters be it my Warrior, Engineer or Necro.
What you seeming fail to acknowledge in that system is how heavily imbalanced that is given the current existing systems. Traits / Runes / Sigils. Even with number tweaks are you so blind as to ignore that with that system an Engineer could have near permanent evasion, and an Ele could literally never die with all the heals it has ?
No, okay. Clearly you haven’t even scratched the surface when it comes to thought of that “balance proposal”.
Just 3?
Brainstorming =/= Balancing,
“Numbers are meant to be tweaked”. This means balancing is done later in playtesting. That’s how brainstorming works. Playtesting can reduce the 20% to 5% or tweek armor values or even skill effectiveness & cooldown if they feel its justified. I never said the other aspects of the game has to remain static
The idea is to provide different survivalbility tactics for different armor classes.
And here is a free English lesson. Quoting “balance proposal” implies i used this to describe my suggestion. Did I?
“air quotes” are hard to comprehend when used in a facetious manner to describe absurdity.
What you proposed was indeed a change to the armor structure and its mechanics…In common gaming vernacular that is described as the act of balancing.
Now that the “English Lesson” is concluded lets get down to the down right illogical assertion that heavy armor is superior to other armor types in the game.
What you seemingly overlooked is the fact that they already are balanced.
Don’t believe me ?
Fine, then why are the stat ratios on armors, jewelry, and weapons universal ?
Why are Trait stats unique per class ?
Why are do certain classes have a heavy emphasis on durability traits than others ? (Hint, its not the heavy armor classes)
No, its cool im sure all this play testing you speak of ignored all of this. Im sure you’ve clocked thousands of hours on this game and are thus way more aware of the issues with “armor class imbalances” heaven forbid when i said my Warrior, Engineer, and Necro you’d take note that those are all 3 Armor types. The ones that most fit my play style but not my only classes. Heck lets go ahead and lay it all out on the line…Where’s yours ?
All you’ve managed to post is a joke of a balance proposal to an issue than non-existent.
Ok, the physical destination is Southsun. In terms of getting to the destination (that is, the end) of the story:
- How do the Dredge and Flame Legion factor into all of this?
- What’s up with the weather?
- Why the Norn and Charr? Why not the Sylvari?
Since we don’t have all of these, we can’t say that there is poor direction.
The other points though I have no particular feeling on. The refugees tell enough about who and what they lost on the way to LA for me. My mind fills in the blanks.
Again very relevant to poor story telling. Especially if you’re going to call this a “Living Story”.
The direction and even more so, the pacing of this 4 part event is way off.
We’ve had 2 parts directly dedicated to being nothing more than errand boys. Nothing to show why the dredge and flame legion are working together(etc)…One could be lead to many assumptions, but the very nature of telling a story is to not leave it to ones assumptions but to guide them through the chaos as if they were living it. A really good story makes you feel emotionally and physically attached to it….Im getting none of that.
The sad fact is they don’t do anything to engross you in the events. If you want to deny that then i do have to question what kind of literary works you enjoy.
It goes to show how invalid the rationale behind your assertion that the story is only ambiguous because its incomplete.
It’s ambiguous because its told poorly.
If a story has poor plot development with no sense of direction or correlation to its direction in the case of this event then it becomes …Vague.
Ah, you replied to me asking about constantly battling Champions. That’s why I didn’t understand.
Please, explain how you’re supposed to know all of the plot points before you get to it?
How do you know that it has no sense of direction if you don’t know where it’s heading? The destination isn’t apparent now because we haven’t hit all of the plot points.
So yeah, while it may be poorly told, your rationale that there is no direction is also invalid, since you don’t know the destination.
On the Contrary, i know the destination. Southsun cove, that much was made clear.
The problem is the lacking development in the journey of these “refugees” and the survivors. Other than suddenly appearing in Lions Arch we have very little to go on as to…. Where they came from (a big problem for the hunting down of their trinkets). Their intended path of travel is also a big problem, most of them seemingly were either too brazen or genuinely unfortunate…but we the “wheels / driving factor” of this living story have no part other than UPS pick up boy. Not even a simple cutscene upon returning their mementos showing their trek, nothing to emotionally bond you to them. It’s lacking in the story telling department big time.

Never ceases to amaze me… Anet gives you something to do, a mystery to figure out, a way to make the world seeming to evolve and change in a permanent way and you complain about it. Things happen in our world that are unexplained until someone solves the mystery.. Why don’t you, instead of going through with blinders on make your toon apart of the world and look around you and actually see what is going on.
I beg to differ on this.
The world will still exist and change with or with my character interaction. It’s a scripted event and in no way is actually a living breathing or even cognizant of my existence in its role.
Contrast that to the world changing events of “The Lost Shores”. You actually felt more involved in the development of the world, where as with this event its being built by NPC’s for NPC’s with no assistance needed by players. To call this “living” is a joke to any real living systems.
Do ANet expects us to play the game with a detectives eye to every last scenery item we pass by while battling a champion, with entourage, solo?
You’re constantly battling Champions? With no respite?
To the contrary, you magically knew the route each of the NPC’s took with such an ambiguous statement as not on the roads.
I find this either completely and utterly luck based, a lie, or an attempt to stroke your ego so much as to hide the fact that you let someone else do the work for you and merely followed along.
Not entirely sure what that has to do with my reply, to be honest.
No. I dislike walkthroughs, so I don’t use them. And I’ve still got one of the newer items to find. Haven’t had much chance to log in lately.

I’ll leave this here for you as its a good read to get a general idea on how to make money and get T6 mats.
It means what it says.
You essentially become an immovable object. Unless a dedicated force is thrown to dislodge you of your position.
in sPvP its the act of holding onto the cap with your most durable member. Be it Guardian / Ele / Theif / Warrior / Engineer / etc…
How they do it is irrelevant. It’s the means to the end. For Ele it can be through the use of earth shield + their burst + mobility + healing etc… It doesn’t need to be done via stat stacking but that can help.
