Im not even going to comment on the rewards part however….
The trailer was lack luster and the story is very stale. This does nothing to further Scarlet as a character and only uses her as a pawn. For a being claimed to be pretty much a super genius she’s done some of the dumbest stuff imaginable. Also, really not impressed by the obvious puppet master of the puppeteer gimmick. It’s been beaten to death numerous times including in guild wars 1. I was looking forward to an interesting story and epic finale, and i’m sorely disappointed in the direction this is headed and can only hope that whatever game-play changes come with this are worth my time as a player.
Here’s how we nerf berserker …..
Stop making content that is a DPS race and make content that actually utilizes Support and Control.
Remove Unshakeable and Defiant. Give boss encounters access to boons and conditions.
Congratulations you’ve nerfed the need for berserkers!
I feel the issue is mostly tied to dawn and dusk. As has been stated.
It’s not stopping me for going for Sunrise myself, but i can see why people going for Surinse/Twilight/Eternity could be frustrated as their respective cost are a bit absurd currently.
Have you tried having a better internet connection ?
I know that’s kinda not the answer you’re looking for but faster download speed/better wiring = faster download which solves 90% of your problem.
I personally feel that if this skill was allowed to trigger on fall damage you might see more use out of it and the fall damage trait as it would allow for more diversity and outplaying/planning.
I miss the 1000 Grenade Engineer fun times
I’ve also yet to get teabagged in wvw. This really happens commonly?
WvW is an extensive experiment on how simple “harmless” animations can be chained together into something vulgar, and there are many WvW players that are of the mindset to discover them.
Heck, you are lucky half the time if it’s not your own team that is degrading you for not being as uber-l33t as they are.
That sounds like a team I don’t want to be on. Maybe get a new guild or server, yeesh. I’ve never had that experience on TC or in my guild.
Im sure many people would be happy to join higher population servers, maybe if Anet made server transfers reasonable …. Or even opened them up for free in between WvW seasons we’d see less of this.
Engineers can do some pretty nice healing too if needed and traited properly.

Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
Wipe all resistance from your mind
There’s a secret deep below to find
If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen
You’d wake up screaming from The Dream
This next part will sting, but it brings me joy
Sometimes to change you must destroy
A fire is rising you cannot contain
Tyria will burn, while I remain.
“Thump, thump”…a clear reference to the Forbidden Thumpers. Is Scarlet trying to annoy Primordus into attacking the surface?
Or is it…
Thump, Thump. Time to jump.
Could it be the secret return of the Bunny Thumper ?
Aww who am i kidding rangers won’t get a hammer anytime soon
Remove Diminishing Returns.
If you find a way to reliable spot bots.
Farming will happen with or without bots. However having an artificial limitation system that only actively encourages people to bot is not the way to go about being a productive and fun game.

This. When you see an awesome trailer for a movie but the movie turns out to be really bad (and the cool scenes from the trailer aren’t even in the movie), you feel lied to and betrayed. Same thing here.
You sound like you went to see 47 ronin.
Sadly that’s pretty accurate for both the manifesto and the movie.
It’s just going to be the revival of Zombie Rurik again.
Don’t know why everyone is overlooking him.
Remove Diminishing Returns.
Or they can just nerf the new tequatil so that the open world content is there for everyone who wants to participate in it and doesn’t require specialized guilds and VOIP. After all they shouldn’t be restricting this content in the manner they are, if they want “more challenging bosses” that’s what guild missions are for. Make these guilds run around the world cleansing (vanquishing) minions until said boss is irritated enough to make a random appearance anywhere in the permissible zones, not just 1 map.
But that would leave them doing more work instead of just scraping the existing platform spot and putting in what they feel are new and interesting combat mechanics that essentially boil down to throw more bodies at it.
When ANet did the big bot purge last year, ~35000 bot accounts in one night, you could just watch the prices going up pretty much hourly because, Who was putting most of the supply in the TP at the time?…bots.
This here…. It’s a shame DR punishes normal players more than it does the bots. Wonder if Anet is ready to admit they made a mistake here.
She’s not even worthy of being a champion of a wet paper bag, let alone Primordus.
Don’t worry they’ll nerf this method like they nerfed crafting to 80. Give it 2 patches.
No im fairly certain its the retailers way of saying, we don’t refund MMO’s.
Many retailers take this stance.
2014 is going to be an amazing year for GW2 and the community!
Chris
It better be amazing… and this better not be more of the same empty hype. The game was said to be something everyone even MMO haters would enjoy and while i have enjoyed the game it is pretty clear it has several flaws to address.
The problem with the open world combat is the same as it is in other games when you get roughly 5+ people in the same place; tactical thinking starts to be less important, and it becomes less important to pay exact attention to everything going on. Leading to people just going “yawn, okay, autoattack and keep an eye out for when I need to do something else”.
This is exactly the problem that should have been solved already. I’m not saying they aren’t going too, but what i am saying is for a game that has been out a year it only saw 1 maybe 2 dungeon paths in where stacking is not optimal… Open world is still a stack fest including Teq.
Again auto attack to victory is beyond boring. Those “combo fields” yeah… those could use another looking over as they do generally nothing to provide meaningful combat experience.
I do not want faster change.
I want the change we are supposed to have when it comes to balance. Separate the game types and their balancing. Stop doing sweeping balance unless it is drastically needed because its a game breaking issue.
I think the generic excuse is….
Everyone heard what they wanted to hear and for the most part we (arenanet) have held true to our vision of the manifesto.
…It’s a shame that GW2 has literally become the Fable of its genre. Way over hyped with a plethora of empty promises.
Basically players like you have your own idea of what the Manifesto meant. So far, I haven’t seen any broken promises, since the Manifesto still holds true to today. And with GW2 being named game of the year in 2013, I’m hard pressed to see how you still think the way you do.
Really then explain the following quote from the manifesto
“We want combat to be meaningful. We don’t want you going oh i swung my sword, i swung my sword again.” -Colin
Explain how this has been held true in open world combat whatsoever ?
Is open world combat fun that’s completely relative to the player however what i can state is the so called depth of combat that’s “new and innovating” are nothing but words. The combat system fully disregards any play style that isn’t spam auto attack or spam your big burst combo. The combo fields and cross player interactions are utterly disappointing and do not bring anything to a fight.
There’s quite a few instances of quotes like the above that stand out, and that is exactly why we have the novel “CDI” threads. The community is not happy with the direction the game took from what had been described to us.

Well, last year they added one new zone and it’s completely deserted most of the time. many of the other zones are also very sparsely visited.
It takes a LOT of work to generate a zone’s worth of new content.. and the player base will be “done” with it inside a week, so it’s just not a good use of dev time.
People used it until….
They butchered open world farming. Removed half the mobs, removed the rich Ori nodes and otherwise kept it underwhelming from a playability standpoint.
Then they added Karka Queen which while good, doesnt draw people to doing it.
Neither did them ignoring the passion fruit / flower issue that had been ongoing for around 6 patches. Granted its fixed now but the damage was done.
Nothing done to it in its current state makes people want to go there. Even its Guild Missions are lackluster by comparison to other zones.
I hope those guys are put in jail, shutting down gaming servers ain’t cool, especially being as it’s a new year and we’re trying to have fun and escape reality.
Jail’s a little extreme unless they stole accounts.
I think the copycats and the vigilantes that spur from these things are more threatening.
If you think that, you clearly need to go read your federal laws. Jail time is wholly appropriate.

Who would have thunk it, a game with multiple regions not functioning properly for people outside of the registered region.
Shock horror gasp…
and the award for understatement of the year goes too…..
I miss all the promise the game had…
You know all those beta promotions and developer commentary, back when you actually thought they were going somewhere.
Then you realized they shipped half a game with half empty promises to get you to look at it again.
Like that one cute puppy in the kennel, you know you can’t have it but want it anyway.
Yeah, just imagine us poor suckers who pre-ordered the game….
By comparison your loss is nothing.
There is nothing to win, therefore there is no case to be made.
Anyone who believes there’s an objective in this game that constitutes winning is naive and using this term about as loosely as a lady of the night.
Why do people even argue about P2Win….
There’s nothing to Win. No big competition, nothing in the store that gives you more than anyone else that doesn’t use it.
If you feel this game is pay to win then might i suggest you learn to actually make gold ? It’s not rocket science or that hard to do. Boring yes, but any joe wearing even off traited Greens off the TP can do it.
I’m against more HP and Damage as a solution to making things harder. That doesn’t solve the problem with the experience being so mundane that tactics are utterly irrelevant.
Fights need to have interesting mechanics, Control and Support builds need to be equally as viable as DPS and the Rewards for completing said content need to be much better than what they currently are.
R-Cade-Tron
For when the SAB becomes playable in our home instances
Elec-tron for the next election event
If they do a “traditional expansion” they run the risk of fracturing (no pun intended) the player base. That is far from optimal for this game. They would be better off rolling out an expansion through living world content that isn’t temporary.
So, keep in mind that If we ever do get hammers engis wont be expected to auto-attack with them. It’s kind of forbidden.
Found your problem, you want to auto-attack to win.
Personally left playing warrior because i found spam 1/2 to win boring. Engie is far from spam 1 to win and has me enjoying the game much more.
Or we can just move completely away from this notion that RNG = Problem solved.
RNG itself is a problem. Give people more options to set goals and have those goals be the deciding factor in getting the rewards. A branching system that says oh your want x item ? Cool go do Y, Z, Q and you’ll have it.
I’ve been running condition damage and grenade spam, works good for stopping the hammer charge in its tracks and allows you to dive through and pressure the squishier back lines with your heavier armor classes.
I run p/p or p/s though (if i need the extra defenses). Rifle is there if i need a bit more control but often that’s overkill.
Personally tired of seeing more time gated vertical progression coming in with very minimal horizontal emphasis.
Would love to see this changed through how we acquire resources within the open world. Remove the artificial caps, whether it be the daily timers for bosses / nodes and remove the annoyance known as diminishing returns as it only punishes and denies people the ability to work on horizontal progression at their own leisure.
Ascended Gears / Weapons need to go back to the concept board and be made able to swap stats as it it not friendly for players of multiple characters. Additionally reduced the absurd material cost and time constraints required to get said items and gear. Another viable alternative would be to change world completion rewards to include ascended gears and retro actively reward those who have done so with them while adding them with more frequency to open world encounters.
Fixing “stacking” as you claim it to be is alot simpler than body blocking.
Make control builds worth it and problem solved. Get rid of defiant and unshakeable they are poorly designed and thought out and do nothing but turn dungeon runs into an artificial DPS race.
Just incase you had any desire to listen while not playing this is their official soundcloud page https://soundcloud.com/arenanet
Probably fix all the features that should have already been in the game.
Then i can only pray the bad case of food poisoning falls into some lava. Ring of Fire sound fun. Maybe her food poisoning gives Primordus gas or something…. You know so we actually have something to do with those other Elder Dragons.
Eh the problem is that the hammer crowds out arena nets predefined weapon for control… the mace.
Sadly instead of looking for ways to buff the mace, they took the easy road out and nerfed its direct competitor. Worst part is hammer is still more viable than mace in most zerg situations which is were it saw the most use. 1v1 usage was mainly used in sPvP where any and all balance touches to the weapon should have happened. Not globally. Again something they said they had the ability and were willing to do separate balance for sPvP / WvW / PvE.
I’d be happy if the game was made feature complete instead of having piecemeal features.
I know its not the most exciting thing to look forward to but all the minor tweaks to systems that really should have been in at launch is getting old.
Also, remove DR from everything in the game and come up with a better way to promote us to play other modes / area’s instead of penalizing us for playing your product and playing areas that are densely populated by players.
Sure would be nice to have Templates return….
I honestly don’t mind….
Gives me a reason to work on another class. After the thief changes it actually might be fun to try since i wont have to sit there and micromanage a resource while trying to bust things.
I certainly haven’t read 28 pages…However 1 thing i think lacking from the red post i’ve seen.
Separate the sPvP / WvW /PvE balance changes. Currently i’ve seen atleast 4 “Balance Devs” and 2 of them are PvP related frankly… this is unnerving as it sets the wrong tone. You said you could balance these modes independent of each other please do so.
pretty sure that’s a bad road to go down considering boons are already strong.
