Its more meant for rifle users who can stay out of range and target people who maintain ~5 boons.

If you do so you can keep a constant +37% damage output up. (unless you want to use kill shot, then you drop to 25%.)

This is keeping in mind that you can take the empowered trait for +2% damage per boon you have on as well.

But why waste baubles on 1ups? It’s free to kill yourself, and you get 5 free lives.

Then why complain about not having enough lives to complete the dungeon when the supply is limitless and free.

There’s a couple of strategies you can use to deal with Periscopes:

1. Use Stability. Depending on how much damage you can deal, you may be able to destroy the periscope in a single use of the skill.

I am lvl 80 full exotic DMG Guardian and there is no chance i can destroy it in single use of stability….Maybe glas-canon warrior with hundred blade…:-D

Who said you need to be glass cannon. Solider’s stats do fine. Knights as well. It’s about not being braindead and using your skills effectively. Sadly the people that complain about this either dont have the required skills/traits are too stubborn to swap to them, or dont know how to evade.

I don’t love the nerfed kit refinement. If they want to help engineers they need to buff those duration times. Literally having magnetic aura last .2 seconds is a joke. Also that global cooldown 20s way too high.

Why not include zone 3?

Zone 3 takes about 6 minutes while 1 and 2 are roughly 3 a piece. It makes it more efficient to skip the last zone and start over after 2.

Starting a new character, going through the tutorial, running to SAB, entering the zone and watching the cinematic takes roughly 3-4 minutes, so, it actually would be more time efficient to do zone 3.

Assuming people are constantly creating character and not just running it on the ones the have created already is a pretty big assumption.

Let just all imagine this game has been out since august of last year… and we already did all the trivial character creation 8 times. It’s no longer faster to do zone 3.

Im honestly shocked it worked given how much is tied into guilds.

Asking a steady big guild to do away with their home world for a new one means they have to start again from scratch on everything. Kinda whack imo.

Either that or a bunch of solo’s / small guilds moved which seems more likely.

why would they have to start from scratch?

Influence is linked to that world. If you are on another world you earn a different influence specific to that world that isn’t shared.

… It makes little to no sense.

In my opinion, short stories like these, and of course novels of the game, actually benefit the game and the game’s lore. Let me try to explain:

Even if i were to ackwnowledge what you said as being factually accurate (and it is for the most part) Even The town Ebonhawke has “scripts” laying around for a player to stumble upon. For me having this lore (albeit in ebonhawks case its gw1 lore) in the game is a far greater story telling tool as it reaches your entire base, not just the select few who read the post.

One of the great things I like in the game, is walking up to a random NPC and discovering a mini story from them. The new patch had loads of little NPC’s which didn’t obviously have stories to tell, but rewarded the player when you spoke to them – many within the instances. For me, this is a hugely rewrading way of telling the story and really got me going out exploring the village and talking to more NPC’s.

For me, this is the way forward for subtle, world building story telling to accompany the main story. As I said, I’ve no objection to them being on the forums/website, but I’d LOVE to discover these lesser stories through background NPC’s

I agree with you, nevertheless I liked the blog post about Braham’s story.

Pretty much how i feel, i like the backstory. I just wish they’d have put this into the game in some form. At the least im glad we have one, i just want more :P

Complaining about people complaining are you ?

That’s terrible. Also, you seemingly only see what you want to there’s more than just complaints on these forums. There was a massive thank you Anet thread just yesterday.

My complaint is founded on the basis that this should be in the game. They spent the time working on the living story and this would have made me way more interested in the events if it was in act 2 or even in the current acts as either a viewable cinematic / mission similar to the Reunion of Destinies Edge.

Whatever! I would much rather read it in a GW2 book.. Better way to get to know the characters.. There are some things they just can convey in a cinematic.

More power too you. This is a personal preference just as my preference is to have the game story in the game.

I also think i covered all the counters i currently use.

My point is i shouldn’t have to trait and skill into these to run to events around Orr. I can deal with the occasional immobilise/knockdown but i want to enjoy my skill slots in the open world, not run manditory slots just to get to the next event.

Shockingly you dont have too, it just makes things so much easier.

I mean bad players will always complain about CC, good players will bring CC removal and kill the mobs.

I think the mobs around Orr have too much CC. Tar Ele’s have a short immobilise which isn’t too bad. Risen putrifiers however have quite a long immobilise in comparison add to that the map population of putrifiers creates a problem. The risen gorillas around Jofast have a 50% snare which lasts for 1 min and stacks in duration which is annoying when trying to run the karma circuit. i think 1 min snare is slighty overkill imho.

Now i could run around Orr on my warrior using balanced stance,SiO an dolyak sig and place my traits in mobile strike’s which would give me a counter….but why should i have to? i’m not in a dungeon, just running around open world content from event to event. I’d like to take skills that are fun to use, not required to get from A to B.

Also the event that moves south from Meddlers WP spawns way too many mobs of the same type Risen Nobles i think there called, that have an fast casting ranged AoE ability. These aren’t a problem by themselves or in 2-3’s but when 8+ come running towards you, as soon as they reach maximum range they drop their AoE in the target which leads to a powerful stacked AoE that wipes the NPC’s your were protecting, this also happens at the temple of Balthazar as you escort the troops and keep their morale from falling. Mobs spawn. AoE stack on the soldiers.Event failed.

This isn’t a moan, just my 2 cents….if i wanted to moan i’d have written about the state of melee viability….warrior with a bow and arrow of all things! :P

Its almost like “Shake it Off” or even the traited “Balanced Stance” are hard to come by….

Oh wait, no they aren’t and this post was brought to you by a warrior.

You have completely derailed the discussion that was happening because of said post. So in fact, you have proved my point. I at no point said i was better. The title implied a discussion on those who are a bit shortsighted on the games development. It brought relevant and intellectual discussion posts until you decided to flame the person who created the thread. I’m unsure of your reasoning or logic in doing this but you have done nothing but prove that people would rather flame others than have constructive things to say. This post was specifically to discuss what I felt, the disclaimer was simply to avoid people saying that this was how I want the game to be etc. At no point EVER did I say people cannot speak up or complain, I fail to see where you are getting this. But I can attempt to clarify once again JUST for you and maybe others who just didn’t get it:

This thread is to ask people to not troll, flame, harass others who had ideas or complaints. And for those who do complain to take a moment and see the entire picture before just posting a complaint that is not followed by a constructive suggestion. That is the entire point of this thread, and others have gone with the theme. The only person bashing anyone here is you, not that I mind, I’m a big boy and can take it. But seriously you have done nothing but derail some very good suggestions and discussions, which again, was the point of this thread. I’m very sorry if you or others for some reason thought I was somehow saying “I’m better than you, do things my way”. Clearly that wasn’t my intention. Now I don’t wish to sit here and have this pointless argument with you since clearly your headed somewhere with what YOU think my thread is about, and that road I’m not going to follow. I encourage others to continue with the interesting and enlightening discussion as was the purpose of this thread.

So you instantly dismiss what im saying yet again because it does not match up with what you view as your intent.

Fine. Let me give you a “Proposed Change” some constructive criticism.

Your topic line, is bad. Instead of labeling people as being shortsighted you could have instead started off with something like so.

“An in-depth look at the direction of change”

You can then lead off your first paragraph with something along these lines.

I believe, Anet is trying and to make a truly enjoyable product for the masses, and while the past few patches may have rubbed you the wrong way its not all bad. Infact … (insert claims of praise here). That isn’t to say they have strayed and made mistakes however i believe these slow patches are a sign of greater things to come (insert hypothesis here). I would like to see others take on this.

Your entire introduction then no longer needs a disclaimer

Instead you went the route of naturally introducing a divisive nature into your topic not once but twice. I’ll point this out again, then you keep on this path and use logical fallacies throughout your posting. If you really wanted any insightful constructive discourse to occur you would have refrained from all of that.

You have yet to explain which part where I bash others. Still waiting for an intelligent response that isn’t an attack.

Have you at all read your threads title ?

I guess that reading comprehension you say im lacking was lost on both of us.

You have come into this thread hoisting yourself on a soapbox setting yourself apart from the community while simultaneously labeling those who don’t share your point of view.

You instantly start off with an ad-hominem right there. Not a good way to go about inciting “intelligent discussion”.

Then you further prove this by having the notion to put a “Disclaimer” on your post as if to say, hey i know im being offensive to you all but i honestly dont care because my opinions are better than yours.

They are not to appease my style of gaming, nor do I think anyone should tell others how to play)

The whole lot of your post assumes people just sit at events, not everyone is like that. Meanwhile no one should be forced to play the way we currently are being. You want to progress, Farm Fractals or CoF p1. That’s it. End of story. That’s pathetic and goes against Anets whole design choice. They want us to do these events but then put in restrictions. DR + Chest Limitations = Complete horsecrap. They seriously need to remove these foolish limitations or significantly revamp the Open World.

I feel like you skimmed the thread and responded. While you are allowed your opinion it is clear that you are the one making some pretty vague assumptions. I replied selectively to your points, as you can see in my thread in no way was I assuming anything about anyone. The questions I posted were something of a personal nature that players can ask themselves to see where they are in the game and evaluate how they play. The answer is purely personal and is for no one else to judge. they just added some small part to guilds to build influence and help them achieve enough to further there missions. This is a step not their entire answer to the problem at hand. They realize it is not ideal for all and they are working on trying to make it so it is. Please before responding read carefully and don’t make assumptions based on your anger at the game or forums.

You assume anger and want to patronize players for voicing their concerns, frustration and complaints. Good guy. Glad to see that you can peer into the text and instantly jump to anger as a conclusion as opposed to passion for the game.

Kinda what i expected though, the same psuedo-passive aggressive nonsense. Oh guys stop whinning they are trying. Yeah we know, and when they make missteps we(the players) are going to let them know it otherwise they will assume silence means everything is fine.

It’s better to let you voice be heard than silenced. So kindly OP stop trying to force your ideals on others, your aren’t a saint. Your post is a passive aggressive flame and troll bait. If people are going to voice their complaints and you disagree, do so constructively something you’ve failed miserably at when creating this topic.

And that’s being stupidly generous on money making. I had set that as my goal for myself and decided i didnt want the full set and ended up having made ~80ish gold in about 22 days.
