+1 yes please. I have leveled a few characters now to 80 and the one thing than makes me cringe is having to destroy barricades etc for a heart on a condi build. What takes the warrior 2 seconds to demolish, my necro takes 30 seconds or more. A nice compromise would be to allow a “rot” condition on objects so as to speed up the process IMO.
Currently my end game is doing my daily then logging out.
Log in at reset
Farm home instance
Do the three easiest achievement for the points
Log out to play something else
If they want my money they sure do have a strange way of keeping me online.
I never found them to be challenging at all, just find the purple ring and interact with it.

Interestingly enough your opinion is the exact opposite of what the forum warriors were screaming for up until now.
That could be due to the fact that those that were happy were playing, and those that were not were complaining and demanding an Xpac. It seems we have a juxtaposition going on now, but the former kept players happy and the latter will drive a few (bored) players away.
Even the inclusion of a rehashed festival as this point would tide over many of the complainers. This extended dry spell is causing many players in my guild to just not bother logging in; myself included.
I could back up my old games onto older HDD’s, but once I grow bored of a game I generally don’t want to take the time to find all the needed files for a backup.
“all the needed files”? Simply copy the main folder to a different drive. Don’t even bother uninstalling it.
For games that don’t support moving their location, simply create a directory link (cmd: mklink /D) from the old to the new location. This will make it look like it’s on the original drive, but actually be on the other.
For GW2 specifically, simply move the folder, or just Gw2.dat.
The current lack of content is what people were asking for last year when they were complaining about wanting an expansion. ArenaNet is simply delivering.
Thanks for the backup info, really, but I will most likely not bother if and when I pack it up. At least I know it won’t leave a ton of garbage behind like some games.
As for players complaining about wanting new content, I didn’t complain at all as I was busy playing and as far as I am concerned season 1, even with it’s zergfesting, was the best time I have had in any MMO ever and all I had to do was wait another 2 weeks for more. Season 2 was more a chore with having to repeat chapters in order to get the AP’s (very boring) but at least it was delivered in a timely manner with a better story.
Now I am stuck waiting while they trickle out information at a snails pace, so I am instead looking elsewhere.
Complaining on the forum is probably the most useless of your three options.
I recommend a) Not logging in and b) not buying gems. Daily logins and gem sales are the only things that will steer this particular boat.
Well I log in for my dailies only (for now) and I have not bought gems in over a year and a half. It seems to me at this point the only thing left is to hope they still read their own forums, if not we are all kittened till they decide to give us anything to do.
Once again, this game was specifically built with two week releases in mind. Those of us who have played since release are out of content. Period. And have been beating on the same content for some time.
And again, I can’t just leave. I run a guild.
Unfortunately you were enjoying the game (as was I) when a majority of players were screaming for an Xpac on the forums. The saddest thing is now I spend more time reading the forums and reddit than I do playing due to the lack of new things to do.
Really, that’s a reason, your SSD drive? Perhaps you should have a larger SSD drive, or just add a second one….that would actually make more sense, because then you could just keep the games on the drive and go back to them when ever you felt like it. But of course, potentially you’re not one of those gamers that ever goes back to a game they played a few years ago…when my Terrabyte SSD is near getting full(it’s only 2/3 full right now), then I’ll get a second…much simpler to just keep everything loaded and on the drive then have to re-download it as well as what ever additional content may have been released in the interim. Of course this is just a suggestion and not everyone would want to do that…but then again, there are some people still playing the original GW.
Well for starters my SSD is 128gigs and I bought it when I had a better paying job so there is that. Even though the price for the higher capacity SDD’s have come down by a large margin, I still am not going to go buy another one just to backup my old games. I could back up my old games onto older HDD’s, but once I grow bored of a game I generally don’t want to take the time to find all the needed files for a backup.
Point being that I thought I had finally found a game that could keep me interested by giving me more or less constant content. It now seems I was wrong and I am sure a new game will peak my interest before long if the drought continues.
I do love people that say “take a break, come back for xpac”
The great thing about gw2 was, i could do that and not pay to come back.
Now I’m gonna have to pay to come back? Why should I, when there are lots of f2p releases out there that can take my gemstore money.
Then when i’ve invested in another game, thats even less chance of me coming back to it..?
You have a good point and I’ll add another. Games take lots of space on my SSD drive (31.5 gigs currently just for GW2). And if I grow bored of a game I generally delete it and move on to another game. I did this with LotRO, Champions Online etc and even though I have lifetime subs for those two I will most likely never re-install them.
If I get bored of GW2 I see no reason to keep it on my SDD. Even if the xpac grants me the ability to spew rainbows out my bottom, there is no way I’m downloading and installing it again when something else (newer) will have taken it’s place by then.
Most likely not for this game, but I will get all the “content” I need when I visit the beach tomorrow!
Am i the only that see the business model of this game is “leave when bored, back when new stuff happen” ? And that the so called “bleeding” isn’t a problem since they’ll all be back for HoT ?
No you are not. But it seems the general consensus was that we NEEDED an Xpac and that is taking all their time it seems. Personally I was happy with the biweekly updates but I am retired. Having them moved to a 3 week schedule would have sufficed IMO to make most players happy.
ANet did say they were trying to implement all content you would normally see in an Xpac as time went by, but that didn’t make the majority happy. You reap what you sow, but as I was in the minority It looks like I’ll get to do my sewing much much later than I would have liked.
They are doing something, every weekend you get a brand new PvP bonus buff #esports !
I’m taking a break myself only getting dailies, until I get hooked on something else then I won’t even bother with that. As it is I spend more time looking at the forums now that I do looking at the rear end of my characters.
Well if we don’t see any filler content (eg dragon bash) to make the waiting more bearable I may have grown bored of the game and moved on by then. Seeing as this thread is 4 months old does not give me hope for the timely release with many more specializations to be shown; not to mention guild halls etc.
And yes I could play something else and come back upon release, but this stagnation just sends a bad message to the players IMO. Making us wonder what, if anything, is coming to keep us interested till then.

a red post, from colin?! oh boy, time to get on the hype train boys
Shhhh, the dev is a very timid animal, don’t scare it away or we may never see another one.
I got 19k AP’s and I have still yet to get my dungeon master title; although I was one in RL in AD&D for 20 years, heh. I am old school though, and I like to take my time. Dungeons, to me, are something to be enjoyed, learned and not rushed. I can see the point of the speedrunners as time is something most players worry about and many players are impatient for the shiny at the end of the tunnel, hence I avoid the LFG tool. The problem for most players is more in the design of said dungeons of not giving enough loot for the trash (minions if you prefer) combined with the VERY high trash to boss percentage but that is ANet’s problem.
The LFG tool can be a toxic playground, your best bet is to ask the players before you get into the dungeon what their mindset is regarding said dungeon. Joining a like-minded guild would also be a good option, but as I don’t even bother doing them anymore I cannot help you there. I do wish you good luck in your journey though, may you eventually find enough like-minded players to fill your friends list.
I got 4.3 million karma.. does squat…
Spend a couple hours clicking on crab grabbin gloves and turn it into nearly 400 gold?
If only it could be done in a few hours. I have tried this method also and after an hour I got apx 9 gold from the tp. In order to convert in such large quantities I would have to spend days if not weeks destroying my mouse to get these results. Personally I would just rather farm SW and at least spare my mouse the beating.
I use a rifle warrior, set up auto attack and get a coffee. I could use a longbow, but I accidentally unlocked scarlet’s kiss and kitten it I am not gonna use it!

There is of course a fine line the dev’s need to address.
Do you want to challenge the majority of the populous to the point they decide it is not worth their time?
Do you want to make things so easy a child can do it?
If you choose to far into the first option every casual will leave the game is search of easier games elsewhere, the weekend warriors are after-all paying customers. If you choose to swing the pendulum to far in the other direction, now only do you lose the hardcore paying customers, but many of the casuals will too soon become bored.
I’m sure many of us like a challenge, but not many of us would keep playing if liandri was the norm and not the exception. What they have designed thusfar has at least been steps closer to a challenge (toxic blooms in Kessix), but even those are mostly ignored now, so we will have to see .
…snip
the more you people are satisfied with seeing videos than playing the game, the more and more anet will feel they can get away with it
Could not agree more with this statement. I still play but most times it is in WvW with my guild. Reveals are all well and good, but could we get some actual content along with it to fill in the void??
It is fine, we are after all discussing something that ANet will most likely disregard as they do in most cases. I was just saying that from a convenience point the primers are worth it for some and hence why ANet will not offer them for say badges.
I would like to see WvW only food offered though but it would have to persist as a flag when not in WvW so when you need to enter again after being DC’d or logging out as not to waste the effect. If it were to persist into the PvE world though it would indeed ruin the economy for the crafters. Mind you I never use food in PvE as it is mostly unnecessary so the crafters will still feel the hit; certainly for foods like pots of lemongrass
Note: This would require more coding and only amounts to wishful thinking IMO as this is WvW, the red haired step child of GW2.
Edit: sorry if I ramble a bit I try to see all sides of an argument, kitten my debate training.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
As expensive as food is for 12 hours does not take into account never having to refresh them as they become a fire and forget convenience. That was my point and not the cost in gold/gems. I myself have bought a few of the extenders during the tournaments for the ability to never have to worry about running out in the middle of a scrim.
Great idea and also a good badge sink if they are the currency we use to purchase them. Increased duration also has my vote, but I’m fairly sure ANet will never implement it due to wanting to sell the extenders in the gem store.
On a similar note, how bout making siege recipes that make 10’s or even 100’s of a siege type, my fingers are getting sore.
Nope, but the way they are dragging their feet on everything else I predict sometime in December. The Xpac should arrive by summer 2016.
Edit: the good news is that if you are into skins you will have another 40000 to choose from in the gem store by then.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
I will of course adapt, but some of the adepts I used in the past such as necro spite I was parasitic bond (gain health when you kill a foe) is being changed to (gain health and lose conditions @ 25% health). This adept is much more important to my necro build than the unholy sanctuary (grandmaster in death magic) or any of the minion grandmasters as I don’t use minions.
As it sits now though I cannot go 1 point into spite to get this trait and instead HAVE to choose unholy sanctuary. Like I said I will adapt, but it won’t make my current build any better with this change.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
I agree with you. Having to choose from a poor grandmaster (or master) because you like the other options in the line sucks. I will have to deal with it of course but that don’t make me any happier seeing as five of my current builds are not meta but have traits I am used to playing. Builds that incorporate more than the three lines will unfortunately be a thing of the past.
Not anymore. When they first introduced it I was optimistic that I would see it released within half a year, but now I am losing hope fast. Also with the slow as molasses trickle of information we are getting at this point they seem to be dragging it out even more.
I might be a bit happier if they had not abandoned the core game to give us this hyperbole of what we will be getting, but without any real content to fill the gaps the game at this point is just one gem store sale after another.
My humility.
/15chars
rank 10000=legendary of your choice. tadaaa!
And actual WvW will have tumbleweed rolling through the center of SM.
However you may actually see a few fights (occasionally) in EotM with the huge influx of players.
I think they should just get rid of badges and implement reward tracks similar to what they do in PvP. As for extra rank points, maybe have lines for increased karma/gold/exp/MF gain but make them really expensive to get.
I like this idea too. Maybe then I could finally unlock some of the dungeon skins seeing as seldom set foot in them.
My main question to ANet is can I be reimbursed for the TONS of gold I used (threw away) to upgrade over the last 2.5 years?
I know the game needs gold sinks, but seriously badges would have been a better currency here.
I think they were able to teleport an apple or something across a room a while back. But they said that the necessary processing power to deconstruct, store, move, and reconstruct a human atom by atom has not yet been achieved.
Did not know that, however, if they were to freeze said apple with liquid nitrogen it would not teleport slower. As this is a new science to me, I cannot be 100% sure, but logically a teleport destroys the original in the process and hence chilling it would not matter.
Well teleportation (although it does not exist in the real world yet?) is the ability to move yourself through space without the burden of a physical mass. Without getting technical it allows one to disappear and reappear a set distance away instantly leaving the former “you” erased from the physical world. To this end it make complete sense as your former self no longer exists and hence neither do the conditions placed upon it; your new “you” however will retain these as they were taken along for the ride as it were. I know that may not be very clear but suffice it to say that it works rather logically even in a fantasy setting.
This is what happens when the NPC’s don’t get the memo.
The new stuff they discussed were the changes to waypoints and the specific upgrade timers.
Did you miss changing the values or is it really going to be the same timers on towers, keeps and SM? O.o
Now I cant even try to see an advantage anymore. Because that’s just kittened. It means that unmolested keeps and SM is going to upgrade twice as fast as towers due to multiple dolly sources, when it should be the complete opposite.
Please don’t expect logic from a game that makes you move slower when you are being attacked. But you make a good point.
Seeing as we currently get nothing from excess ranks in WvW, I for one would settle for anything. Titles, unlocks to siege punchable, food/util purchases (not op food, just a no cost option) etc.
And I do realize that many many players farm EotM for ranks, but ANet can add things in to make WvW player’s lives easier without trivializing the ranks (even further than they have). IMO the proposed changes only benefit the newcomers and (once again) veterans are left out in the cold! OK, we get it you want to make the game new player friendly, but for kitten sakes how about some appreciation for those that have been with you for 1k days now.
Magic 8 Ball says:
Please insert 100 gems and ask again.
PvE = Warrior/Ranger depending on my mood at the time.
WvW = Necro for zergs, mesmer for roaming.
Although I have every class @ 80 I use them as mules currently because I prefer the play style of the three I listed. I don’t PvP as I prefer my game play to be vitriol free (even though ANet want seems to want to cram it down our throats) so I cannot say what I might use there.
Breaking news:
Necro roamers get a reprieve this week on GW2.
I have heard there is a tv show about hoarders, you may want to watch an episode or two to get a few pointers; just sayin.
BTW I have a160 slots and only 20 are full with essentials I have learned to use a bank for the others.
Meh, back to silverwastes.
My only hope, albeit a very unlikely one is that they announce templates for builds.
I would settle for minor version of dragon bash at this point. Just add a few pinatas around the city maps with a vender for the food items would make a few weeks fly by for me.
Talking rangers here; longbow rapid fire doesn’t bother me as much as the knock back simply because closing the 300 gap to use say staff could be done easily (albeit painfully). The problem is with the knock back in that even if I get to within range to use the staff I will get knocked back and have to start over giving the ranger time to get another rapid fire volley off.
There is no smart play here, it is just a slaughter with us being the main course. If they were to give us even one reflect we would have some defense against this, and even though it would not be on a weapon skill such as blocks it would promote smarter play. That is why spectral wall has my vote. Even if it does not reflect please anet make it block.
I wouldn’t put the reflect on the reaper. I’d put it on Spectral Wall, so it can also be accessed by the core class.
Yes please!
All I know is that In WvW, when I get chilled I get quite kittened off. The condition itself not only makes you move like a snail on Prozac, but all your cooldowns take SOOOO long to use. Chill to me is an awesome addition to our class and I even tried making a few chillomancers, although descent a power build kicked them to the dirt every time. Now that chill can not only do the aforementioned effects, it can, if traited, cause damage too.
It is a win/win in my books and even though any class if played well could get the upper hand, at least we will make em work for it now!
Pve and roaming 6,0,0,0,6,6
WvW zerging 0,0,0,6,6,6
I think what impresses me the most is that now we actually be avoided in WvW and not just a free kill. If you wanted to be that kitten hard to kill tank that had a good chance of fellow players coming to your aid in the past you had to play a guard. We are FINALLY going to get the attrition I have dreamed about for going on 3 years now.
And if you wonder where all the complainers on this forum went, then remember that all you had to do was listen to us. Thanks from a VERY happy beta 1 necro.
Normally I am a pessimist, but honestly other than some of the utils, I see nothing here that doesn’t improve the class 10 fold. If this is crap, I would have loved to have a nice steaming pile of it 2 years ago.
