Wait a bit till you bring them back. I cashed in 4000 gems for over 800 gold when the market skyrocketed. If you keep them in the TP I will not get these glorious trades. I did the same when the black wings were released and made a cool 200 gold after the market fell back (buying back gems) even with the exchange rate.

Might have been fixed with a stealth patch sometime after the initial release or I didn’t have the trait in WvW active at the time, thanks for checking it. I will test it later after I get home.

According to the description:

Corrupter’s Fervor: Whenever you apply a condition to a foe, gain a stack of Corrupter’s Fervor for 8 seconds, granting 30 toughness and 2% reduced incoming condition damage per stack (maximum 10 stacks).

Why is is that when I am wielding a staff I don’t seem to proc this? When I use an axe it is fine,. If this is a drawback of the skill, could we get in included in the tool tip, thanks.

P.S. I would personally like to see it benefit the staff as well.

I agree, if we are suppose to transfer the condition to others as a corruption, give all playstyles (condi and power) access to a way to transfer it in plague, say a 4 skill. When in plague we are locked out of our weapons so no use there, we are locked out of ds so no shrouded removal, and bleeding ourselves with blood is power for instance at least gives us our weapons. Condi users may have plague sending, but if they only have 2 conditions on them or they just proced it they are toast as their condi is quite high, and hence is their damage.

Having plague be a corruption is just a very bad move for an elite, and although there are other options, NO elite should make it possible to kill yourself. CC was just as bad, but we have other (albeit all bad) options on healing (a non-elite).

As others have said having it act as a self centering well would be more in line, even if you have to fudge the numbers a bit to make it work. I still have it on my power build, but I generally just don’t use it; lich is useless on it’s 15 seconds duration spam 1 and flesh golem dies when someone sneezes on it.

Still messing around with this, wanted to keep some form of deeps(main source is LB spam with the 50% crit chance while at the same time sustaining myself and helping out allies.. Thoughts?

Pretty close to the build I run, but I specialize in well bombing. Vampiric rituals along with well of corruption, suffering and either well of power (condi heavy hitters) or spectral wall to control the flow of battle. I also took corrupter ferver because if your only real power is coming from toughness, you may as well get as much as you can. I use runes of the pack simply because I like the added power + swiftness and giving your party buffs is nice too. Solid build though.. but I never have run a meta builds instead relying on my own talents to build what works so ymmv with what I say.

Edit: this is a WvW build btw, in PvE I will run a reaper when released.

And get this every edition gets a wopping yumongus 3 explorable zones to explore x 3 layers that’s a total of 9 layers. With the first map I have also concluded that at most a full HOT map is equal to 150% of a Guild Wars 2 map so the HOT map surface is equal to 4 and a half maps. Now isn’t that worth a full $30? I think so. Go ahead and enjoy it for the full 1 month it will last you at $50, $75 or $100 smackaroons.

Please don’t remind me what else is in the expansion because those things will not keep you logged in once it’s all been done and explored.
A friend of mine did pay $100 and he even knew it was only 3 zones he told me so himself, I hope he has a lot of fun with it, I’m out not of the game I love it but I am out until it drops below $30 because it isn’t worth a penny more to me.

I will of course explore the PvE maps, but my main enjoyment in this game is the WvW. Those maps have kept me entertained for almost 3 years now and they changed very little. I bought the ultimate edition not only for the half off gems, but to support a company that for 2.5 years has IMO tried it’s best to make many different types of players happy.

If the price is to high for what it offers you then of course wait, but I’m more than happy with what I will be getting.

Movement Skill Changes and Reaper Impact

Nothing will chance for me when it is released. I will still play my tanky wellomancer in WvW (now with added support) and I will play something else in PvE. The reaper offers me nothing I cannot do better with another class at this point and the chill and cripple changes just make me happy I have other classes to play.

I’ll still use CC, but I will be taking blood magic so as to have other heals (siphons) at my disposal. I will use the new corrupters fervor to hopefully offset some of the condi damage I get so as to minimize the use of the heal. If I do have to use it I will try and make myself less of a target when possible.

The other heals need to be boosted or changed outright in order for them to be usable IMO.

A concern about specs from a tank necro

Join the club, my old build was 1, 2, 5, 0, 6 as a well bomber, and I am now forced into taking 3 full lines. I can compensate a bit with some of the changes, but in the end I will lose something.

That is not such a big deal as I will gain much more than I lose with the integration of traits, so in this case I am happy. However CC will still suck.

Let’s be clear, that’s not what the OP said. What the OP has a problem with isn’t the difficulty of the content, it’s the unrelenting nature of it.

It’s like walking 20 miles with stops to rest and socialize, compared to walking 20 miles without stops to rest. Both are still just as far, have the same hills and challenges, and get you to the same place at the end, but some of us find only the first to be enjoyable.

The open world is populated by (less than) dangerous monsters, go figure. If you venture outside you take a chance of running into them; and honestly a wide open empty world would be VERY VERY boring to 99% of the player base.

Also there are many a settlement, camp, city etc to give you that needed rest.

2) if your below 50% hp with 3 boons dont try to stomp.

ai is so bad in this game that circle kite + ranged auto will get you through almost anything

It is worth noting that the reduced condi damage should synergize nicely with the corruptions. Just look at plague, those bleeds aren’t as bad with this trait.

I don’t think it’s worth taking over other traits but I don’t think it’s bad.

Yeah. Personally I still feel like much of Death Magic is underwhelming. …

The problem is that the master traits are bad. Your choices are:

(1) a stun to fear conversion that works every 60 seconds
(2) a toughness to power trait that doesn’t work well with any existing armors (it seems to exist to benefit reapers)
(3) a minion trait that doesn’t work.

I don’t get why nobody likes toughness to power. Knight’s necro is kittening amazing with blood/death, and corrupter’s fervor would probably borderline overpowered if necros had better health regeneration.

The master minor really needs to be changed though. It’s the most boring, pointless thing ever.

Shh, don’t let the secret out . I actually have used the old “Deadly strength” trait forever in my necro zerging build and the extra power is very welcome on a tank IMO. The only trait in that line that does nothing for me personally is the “Soul Comprehension” one, as an extra 20% seems rather bad.

If you watch the live stream it is self evident the devs working on the engy are quite excited over the changes. What I didn’t know was just how coddled their community was.

2 hours in or not, could you at least feign interest in the necro changes Joshua? And If not could we get another necro designer (or at very least player) to sit in the other seat.

I understand the frustration, but Joshua Davis mains Engineer, it only makes sense would be giddy over the changes.

Oh I completely understand, but I would just like to see equal representation is all. When devs discuss and banter the ideas back and forth it can lead to more incite into what was changed and why. Although Robert Gee did a great job describing the changes having a necro player along for the ride would have not only given Joshua a break, but we might have had someone from our side of the coin voicing an opinion.

On a power necro if we take it for granted that our condi output is quite low (0), then plague and other corruptions would give us negligible damage with the new scale. The problem with this heal (CC) is that other than being to only one what is worth a kitten to most play styles it gives you vulnerability.

Vulnerability is not in itself a damaging condition but it makes every attack hurt you more (now with the added benefit of making condi’s hurt more too). If it had been for instance bleeds or poison the 4 seconds at a reduced damage rate would be fine for a power user (although the +5 seconds still hurts).

Unfortunately my necro is a sylvari, and I could not be bothered leveling a human just so I can get a replacement heal for one that should have NOT been touched in the first place. Although you are correct, at this point a human necro kicks the kitten out of what we have now been given by the devs.

PvE critter are just big dumb bags of health. I am not saying you are not talented, you may well be, but until the changes go live we cannot say we got the best of the revamp. Afaik PvE critter don’t even purge their conditions so it seems the playing field you are using is a bit skewed in your favor.

The CC change alone makes me feel we got the shaft though.

Edit: seriously ANet fix your kitten. If you cannot make a separate website to do your sales then at very least put your forums on standby. Making all pages load this kitten slow just makes you look incompetent.

I agree with 90% of your post, but this little gem kept me alive in a zerg situation with my soldiers armor. No escapes = dead in some situations (lag spikes make positioning hard) and having the little extra power (10% currently – 7% and 14% soon) would lets me still hit hard enough to do good damage. I almost lasted as long as guardians with my old setup only loosing about 200 power for over 1k armor. If you were to redesign these traits I would like to keep this one. Boring or not, I actually liked this trait.

I hate the Ascended changes, I hate the Necro nerfs, BUT I will buy Ultimate too (once the site stops being soooo slooowww), because I’ve been here since release and the game has paid me back in fun (and sometimes annoyance), lol.

I solved the problem of then making necros garbage, I got an 80 warrior and 80 mesmer. I’m sure I will find something I like there. At VERY least I will be able to reset a fight when needed.

Well said, the only thing i wish they did to appease all the scrooges is to add a char slot to all versions. I think that would have kept things much calmer around here.

Well one slot for the regular version would be nice but I wouldn’t complain about getting 2 for the ultimate; seeing as I have already paid.

I don’t have quite enough fingers to get good at an ele. Having said that I have been chased by and chased enough PU mesmers in my time to know that I would rather be the one resetting the fight than the poor bloke that has to sit there and take it. Mesmers have really no way to convert chill, but seeing as leaps and blinks are not impaired by chill I’m sure I will be fine.

I’ll still keep an eye on this forum, but after 3 years and over 5k hours on my necro I am tired of being the brick that other classes have to drag around behind them. This change to chill and the recent CC change only show that ANet has NO idea how to make an attrition class. /rant

I have the spare cash and I like to try the betas. As I see it I am paying for access to a behind the scenes look at what they are planning, and with the slow trickle (non-existent) of current content I may as well see what I will be getting. Also having access to the beta can help them with bugs etc, and that to me is worth the price of admission.

Being fairly new to the class I was wondering how the experts here deal with condi spam? I tried torch with the condi removal, but I prefer the focus. I do have a few sigils of generosity I have had since beta, but will they be enough to keep me condi free whilst roaming?

Same here, 5k hours on a necro wishing every patch that it would get better. Fortunately I have a fully equipped mesmer I was saving for when they finally did something with conditions.

OK, so I can’t jump worth kitten and I am sure my ports and veils will be bad at first, but at least my own heal won’t get me killed by a rapid fire ranger.

I think the self-vuln is fine if CC stays at 25s, but its not okay to have both that and the increased CD.

The only reason the vuln bothers me so much is that the heal is VERY well telegraphed, and if you get it off it puts a bit bulls-eye on you. The extra 5 secons is a pita too, but both is a real double dose of kitten.

Speaking only for myself, I was in a good spot for about a week. It was right after they showed the reaper and just before they cut off my kittens by making all classes with leaps laugh at me again. If you want happy from me again you will have to do better than what I have seen from ANet today.

Actually he does have a point, and the 5 extra seconds doesn’t bother me as much in my build as the 10 stacks of vuln (+10% damage) for 4 seconds. In essence adds insult to injury (literally). Both consume conditions and plague should not have been touched IMO.

I was contemplating a few descent chill builds with varying decrees of condi, power etc. Now I think I will be sticking with either my current death shroud build in WvW or in PvE, a reaper shroud build based upon clearing mobs quickly.

Either way If these changes go live I will avoid chill as I do now. And some have said it will be no big deal, but if I am having problems with enemies resetting now what hope do I have when they can just leap away and heal every fight? Attrition is a two sided coin requiring someone to fight and will not work when your opponent can escape at any time.

Unholy sanctuary is in the death magic line, but as others have said it is not worth the investment unless you are already committed to the line. For instance you wanted to use a staff (currently) then it is a fine line with increased aoe and cool downs. After the changes who knows, but it is still a VERY poor grandmaster.

Rune of the Reaper:

(1) +10 condition damage, +5% chill duration
(2) +10 Vitality
(3) 25% chance on being hit to cause chill (2 seconds) 10 second cooldown
(4) +25 condition damage, + 10% chill duration
(5) +25 Vitality
(6) +5% damage to chilled foes (+10% damage to chilled foes in reapers shroud)

From the 3 builds only 1 of them I run is zerk the other is hybrid and condi and with the new condi changes annouced (did you read about that?) I would say the opposite of what you said is true…

That’s what I’m saying, I believe that the condi changes are going to buff up hybrid and condi builds to the point where pure power builds are going to be left behind. Unfortunately for me, of my 4 characters that I play regularly, 3 of them are pure power, simply because that’s what I find enjoyable to play

Now try to look at it from a condition users point of view. I enjoy playing condi, but as it sits now I am unwanted in most (all?) situations so I generally run solo. To me these changes are a very large breath of fresh air and I can only hope they make what I enjoy playing wanted by others.

Expect less revives from now on...

Let’s be honest though, even now a shorter chilled/crippled leap still means you’re getting away from a necro.

Too true, but at least now it is not a guaranteed skill-less escape as it will become.

Disengage, heal, reengage.. rinse repeat.
