Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic someday?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

After some internal debate I broke down and bought one. As has been said it does work out to be a bargain and I was 3 scraps short of my new shadow longbow skin anyways. I also have 2 sigils of generosity I wanted to remove from unsalvageable weapons.

The silver fed still requires 60 copper per use and to me that is just to high seeing as I have enough mystic forge stones to last me for about 3 years (rares only) so it sits on an alt.

In the future ANet you may want to include a few more things to do in your stress tests. I completed all the actual content is under 20 minutes. Even though I stayed around a bit longer, many players must have grown bored because there were less and less as time went by (not very stressful on the servers).

I know I don’t speak for many here, but I like the chance as a necro. My spectral wall is actually useful for those times I need a quick escape or when I want to separate the front from the backline. I do notice I get tossed around a bit more when I run with a guard in my party, but that is the price you pay for having my CC be much more powerful.

YMMV but I personally don’t care about a bit of ping pong when not in plague form, although foot in the grave needs fixing IMO. Solid change.

If you ever want to know what your odds of winning against the house are just check out the opulence in Las Vegas. Many many tears went into the cement of those multi-million dollar buildings.

Bottom line is if you like a skin, dye, node or anything else wrapped behind a RNG wall your best bet is to just buy it on off the TP outright. If however you like to gamble then by all means give it a shot, but just remember the house always wins in the end.

I will never give up on the necro class, no matter how bad it gets. I may throw my fits about it, maybe occasionally offer helpful comments, but I won’t give up no it. I honestly don’t think we’re in the horrible place so many people say we are. Yes we have problems that need fixing. No we are not a totally broken class. Boycotting necros will accomplish absolutely nothing.

I was mistaken…badly. After this latest debacle I don’t know if I can ever go back….

This is one year old. Talk about necro’ing a thread…

He does have a point and necro’ing a year old thread only shows how long MANY of us hoped it would get better; myself included. Sorry to say but I have already given up (short of being a well bomber in WvW) fortunately I have all the tomes I will need for leveling my revenant.

You know, I have over 3k hours now on my WvW necro, I have a ranger for pve because you know, damage, but this may finally make me put the old fellow out of his misery (loot mule). From what I am hearing the revenant will be much more along the lines of what attrition should have been for us and it even gets heavy armor.

At this point even a greatsword with godly abilities would still not make up for the total and complete deconstruction of this class from the beta weekend onward.

I used to battle between using fitg or death perception, at least thats cleared up.

My only battle between the two was if I had a guard in my party in WvW. This change kinda clenches it though as I am not gonna have to make the decision again.

RIP FitG, your usefulness was questionable, situational, and will be easily forgotten.

P.S. to those that didn’t partake of the first beta weekends DS used to offer stability (unlimited) whenever you entered it. Although this was over powered, it amazes me how far anet is willing to turn down the dial in the name of “balance”.

Meh, as has been said you can do 99% of the content with exotics, and 99% of my characters do. Self imposed grinding to get a very minor increase in your stats is your choice, but still still only a self imposed barrier. If it is that important that you have ascended gear then just play the game normally, salvage everything and eventually it will come to you.

No worries though I don’t see me tarnishing the experience of those that want a certain player in their dungeon, I am quite happy just doing my own thing.

I’ll see myself out….

Sure, wildstar. The only MMO out there today with open world duelling. I think your comment speaks for itself.

Actually my point was that if you want to kill the true PvE crowd just add in open world dueling, hence the Wildstar reference. There are many games that offer open world grieving, sorry I mean dueling, so why should we have it here? I for one would leave this game, regrettably after 3000+ hours if they added it, as I am sure would many others.

Edit to add: the answer is probably greed, but then again I won’t blame them for not hurting their bottom line, as I enjoy the freedom of adventuring without being bothered by certain players.

Tommyknocker.6089

As a PvE person, I don’t have any objections to ANet trying to get me to do PvP or WvW in hopes I’ll try it and like it. What I do dislike is making the PvE dailies so super specific. This map, not any map. This harvest in this region, not all harvests anywhere. This meta boss, not any boss. I wp to a map, harvest as little as possible then wp to the next for events, get event run to next, get and run to next….. If I want to do the boss, I might have to wait up to 2 hours.

I’m not a person who worries about immersion, but this negatively effects my enjoyment of the game. I’m checking off someone else’s list rather than playing and getting things done while enjoying what I’m doing.

I used to be able to pick my map and get things done there. Doing events I ran across on my way to harvesting, rezzing NPCs, killing ambients, etc. I might be doing the same things as the current dailies but it felt less forced and artificial.

I agree completely, if they had kept the original 10 salvage anywhere, 10 gathering anywhere etc. and still reward the 10 achievement points for doing any 3, the system would be perfect.

That would however not be a gold sink for waypointing as many (myself included) could do some of them in our own home instance; you know like what I thought I would have permanently with the purchase of the home nodes.

Lesson learned, I’m never buying anything again for my home instance when they can change the rules when they feel like it.

I gave myself Elite: Dangerous for Xmas seeing as I played the original in 1984 I was/am stoked. I find myself just logging in to gw2 to get my daily reward and do 3 chores for the achievement. I sometime rally with my guild during the week in WvW and generally do guild missions on Saturday, but my playtime has decreased significantly from what it once was.

My hope is that in 2015 they do something about the missing crafting professions and add more real content than they did in 2014. If not I now have another game I am playing to fill the hours.

Too true.

Whenever i get a character to lvl 80 no I just buy (or craft) a set that can be salvaged if and when I want the rune/sigil back. Karma/badge gear is good for experimenting but you need to purchase it with eyes open knowing whatever you put into it cannot be removed easily (cheaply). in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tommyknocker.6089

I’m fairly sure the meta would get more interesting IF the monsters you face were to target (agro) the guy doing the most damage as opposed to the guy wearing the toughness gear. I’m sure if I was getting targeted by five players and one of them was hitting like a tank on steroids I would not be targeting the guardian. Even if we don’t have a trinity here, monsters seems to be quite stupid in this genre.

How is this point relevant to meta groups where everyone is wearing glass?

snip

It would not help nor hinder them, however those of us that like to wear more toughness gear would feel safer; or at very least be the last targeted. Although as has been pointed out the wiki does say that those that do more damage are targeted first (so it says) so my point is mute.

That is not to say I would not like to see more I in the AI used in these games.

Aww I bought all the home gathering nodes just to faceroll my daily gatherer. That was my favorite daily.

If it’s “Gather in Ascalon” for the daily, maybe going to the Black Citadel and doing your harvesting in the home instance there will still count?

Small hope, I know, and nowhere near as convenient.

Although this would be a step up from having to port all over the kitten map, some of us don’t even know the layout of the other home instances. A better way to not make those of us that paid for the home nodes feel left out would just to allow them to be used no matter the daily region.

On topic. I will hold judgement for when it is released, but if it means it will cause me to do very specific things in very specific areas, I can’t say it will be a step forward at all. Currently I can pop off 70% of the daily without having to do or go anywhere special and although there will be rewards for doing so it will feel more like a chore this way for me to complete.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

After seeing all the legendaries, both in preview and on other characters I must agree.

The problem as I see it is that some of the designs may suit your character but you are stuck with the footprints/glow and special effects of the model. I personally would love to see a model system introduced that allows us to “personalize” the glow/footprints and effects of your own legendary. It is after-all your legend you are trying to convey, why must we be stuck with what that particular designer thought of as legendary.

Either way adding a few more options IMO wouldn’t be a bad thing after 2 years.

I must agree with the OP for the same reasons I despise picking up an environmental (branches etc.) weapons and dropping them as if they are on fire. I understand ANet wants us to see and do things through the eyes of another, but I didn’t spend as much time as I have learning exactly what my skills can do in a certain situation to have them scrapped at the drop of a hat.

I also don’t play a thief and as such the play style is foreign to me even if her skills are op as some have said. As an older gamer it isn’t as easy as most would think to abandon all my hard learned rotations and abilities just to try and learn a new set at the drop of a hat; hence the reason I have only one main and a few crafting mules.

Please in the future give us the option to choose, Thanks.

I am sure he could have have put an IMO in there somewhere, I too thinks the actual content of these patches are lacking. I want the last two professions to be implemented already, with or without precursors is fine just add them. I want to see more meaningful changes to WvW, not only just PvP. I want to see rebuilding being done in LA and possibly Kessex Hills too.

Not once did I speak for the majority here, but IMO many would like to see these changes implemented also; I know many in my guild would.

I love my necro in a WvW zerg where you can replenish your life force very quickly and are a god of laying down pain with wells and marks. However if I am roaming I use a mesmer, and if I am doing any PvE content I stick with my warrior. However, if the fight is not going our way in WvW the lack of mobility, vigor, blocks ect. makes us an easy target for cc and focus fire and we seldom get away; my guild has the saying you just need to outrun the necros.

IMO Necro’s are fine for what they can do, mind you they are quite limited in most areas of the game compared to other classes and as has been said the build diversity is quite lacking.

I do take my hat off to any roaming necros I see in WvW though simply because you need to be very good. Otherwise you are usually just troll bait for mesmers and thieves.
