Yep jewelery 500 and chef 500 seem to be a huge over-site on ANet’s part. Personally I have alts that have both these maxed and they have become the red-headed step children of the crafting professions.
I honestly don’t care what they do, be it a glow for your armor, custom foot falls, etc for jewelery or longer lasting/better food stuff for chef, I for one would just like to make my characters feel more complete.
To me they current increase to the professions just feel like a bandaid approach to how easily the exotics could be gotten and a rush was put in to compensate to give us “busy work”.
If we are to get other things included in the LW episodes to make expansions mute, maybe start by increasing these two professions to 500; although the year we have waited at this point sadly just shows they have no idea what to do with them.
I was amazed that you could actually see the chests uncovered from everyone in the area. Having it only be a party specific “find” would go a long way to both make partying up more desired and reduce the mega farm it is becoming. Also this would give players a reason to spread out from the one most lucrative area.
Got 3. 2 from drops in the same week (don’t even want to know the odds on that) and the dawn from 20 rare greatswords that I usually just salvage for ectos, but i figured why not unlock an exotic skin if I can. The funny thing is I even got the ghost puppy from my first 200 tot bags and my luck is usually terrible.
Just bought $10 worth of lottery tickets; wish me luck!!
Got the mini when I really just wanted the trinket that lets me change my characters color. Guess I will just keep trying for the rest of the festival; funny how some of us don’t even care about the mini still get one. Got to love RNG.
May as well add my voice to the cacophony here. I too am disappointed in the change, you have in essence turned buying gems with gold into a cash card shop. Although this may appeal to the really dumb in society that cannot work a slider it rubs me in a very wrong way and has a distinct odor of greed.
As for a suggestion I would suggest you re-implement the slider, because I’m sure if a player is capable of actually playing the game they are quite capable of using this “confusing” mechanism.
Also if the slider is so confusing, why is it so prevalent in all the other TP areas? Please just admit you made a mistake and change it back.
Edit: If you are in need of more funding, maybe give us things in the gem shop we want to buy.

if you want to quit gw2 in the next 3-5 months, transfer into any t1 server
I disagree. I’m a bit of a zergaholic though, dropping wells and watching the other side melt is a passion of mine. As for roaming I mostly don’t, but when I do I bring a cheese build mesmer so I can escape when needed. T1 roaming is what you make it, but I would suggest making and using a build that can get out of the way of the runaway train when need be. As for me I’m on TC, but I have frienemies on JQ so either is a good choice.
lets nerf the only role necro has in wvw..
I agree.Btw, i don’t run it and still considered #1 target
When zergs see me.. they run. (.. mostly directly at me)
So very true.. Also in order to run death perception, you give up your stability in DS (Foot in the Grave). In doing so most CC effects cause you to become a big black ping pong ball and hence quite useless in any setting (zerg included). The trait itself requires a large investment in soul reaping, grand master trait, and thus IMO is just fine the way it is.
Rune of Attrition
1) +25 toughness
2) +25 vitality
3) 25% If stuck below 75% health gain regen (5 seconds), (25 second cooldown)
4) +50 toughness
5) +100 toughness
6) Upon using a heal skill reflect all incoming damage (3 seconds)
EotM…. But that is not a server thing so much as a color thing.
If they just re-packaged the first years festival and called it Halloween 2014 I would be happy. The mini dungeon under the statue in LA was to this day my favorite content, followed closely by the marionette. The labyrinth last year was a chore with much fewer drops and hence (for me) less fun; although the giant arguing heads was a nice touch. The search for the backpiece was a nice refreshing way to bringing the players together and the entire event just felt more rewarding.
Last years event was, to put it nicely, a letdown in comparison…

I have been trying out a condi mesmer in PvE lately and honestly the only thing that bothers me is the fact that structures take 4 years to destroy. Bosses are a pita too, due to the fact that conditions are overwritten to often, but the structures are a real game stopper. I don’t see why ANet just doesn’t add a “rot” modifier to all conditions so that structures could be damaged in the same way as creatures are.
As I see it we already suspend belief when we see an elemental take “bleed” damage, why not allow those of us that use conditions to do this content as fast as even a poor power based build.
1) Give us the attrition we were told we would get. Getting stronger as the fight goes on is all well and good, but useless when other classes can reset the fight when they choose to.
2) Have DS allow for some healing, even if it only works at half power it is better than nothing.
3) Toss up between reducing our cool downs and increasing our projectile speeds, however I would not be upset if we got both.
Worst attrition class in game. Only class to have no endurance regen, block, invul, etc, and very little stability.
We scare support/healers as our DS life force, shows up as our health bar, so we look like were constantly dyeing.
We take no heals in DS, meaning if we use it for defense, we miss the group heals.
We don’t really have a role or job. We used to be ‘king of condi manipulation’. Tho other class’s now do that much better.
We don’t really give the buffs. Even Vuln stacking, a Eng can do it aoe quicker than we can single to cap. Even our combo fields, not really sort after.
Main tools are Condi – group wide stacks means a solo necro can sit on cap, meaning any condi the group throws is 100% wasted.
Minions count as players and upscale elites/champs/events.
Main ‘zerker’ spec/weap is dagger. Which is melee range as a squishy clothie, and we don’t even cleave. (Tho 2 target buff kinda helps a little I guess).
Our main ‘support’ seems to be lots of regens. Tho they can be overwritten by people with no heal power, constantly & accidentally. Same with all our chills & poison. Due to the way the game actually works, they are totally pointless anywhere it matters.
-We do kick cat at lots of aoe taging monsters to get loot bags!
QFT. Could have not said it better myself.
I just tried to purchase gems with paypal. In doing so I was forwarded to the support page at ANet instead of the acknowledgement page. Thinking this was just an error I exited the paypal site and tried again with the same result. After a few minutes (logged out then in) I tried again as I received no e-mail telling me that paypal was confirming my purchase (something that is usually immediate).
Then my purchases ALL decide to go through 15 minutes later?!?
So now I have 20000 gems instead of the 4000 I was trying to order and a 300 dollar hole in my bank account. I have filed a support ticket, actually one before I didn’t get my gems and another after (remember 15 minutes delay here) so I hope ANet fixes the error.
The reason for this post is to inform others that may get forwarded to support to just wait as there is chance your order went though and Anet is just taking their time on pushing it though, something I have never had the displeasure of dealing with till now.
EDIT: I never received word from ANet over either of the tickets I submitted. At this point I will swallow the loss (although it is poor business practice), but seriously get yer kitten together and DON’T EVER steer a person towards a support page if there is not a problem needing support as it confuses players.
Also at this point I am thinking that submitting a ticket to the garbage would get better results because it would at least get looked at by the dumpster divers.

well they need to stop doing things on paper and actually test this bs.. I cant even see how a necro can look op on paper with the state its in I wish I did not start with this class and found the others interesting =C
maybe I just need to force myself to play another class for a while and forget this. I hear Mesmer is an ok class due to the fact they buff and fix its skills and abilities and I do ok when I stuff around on it now and then.
Give Mes a try, I now only use my necro in zerg vs zerg fighting for the wells when I am with me guild. I have a warrior for dungeons, a mes for roaming and a ranger for world bosses. I suppose the idea of having a “main” main that can do it all is dead, so I moved on.
Maybe if they release the templates ability to the game I may try to use my necro in different ways, but as it sits I am just as happy making ranger templates at this point due to the fact they can actually regen at a descent rate (when traited).
Ok great, TC is comprised of superior players than T2. You guys are better and it’s not the fact that Mag is a completely dead server and FA doesn’t have any non NA primetime coverage at all. You’re up by 600 points per tick because you guys are just better.
I never said we had superior players, so please quit putting words into my post; I find that quite rude. Even uplevels can put siege disrupters on rams/cats, and as I have said you only need a small presence even if off hours to defend what you have (at very least your keeps). The only thing lacking is the will to hold what is yours. Either way I will be spending my week in PvE getting a few ’cheves because nothing bores me more that an enemy unwilling to show up.
Nice lying there Tommy. Clearly FA and Mag have comparable numbers to BG………..
I don’t honestly care if you believe me or not TBH. But I do know that 5 people in a tower with well placed siege and disrupters can hold off a map blob without breaking a sweat; I know as I did it once last week. FA doesn’t lack the numbers as was seen on reset they just lack the conviction to defend, however mag needs to drop a tier IMO.
I’m from TC and although I cannot speak for the server I will tell you that the only difference between a t2 and a t1 server is the defense. If you arn’t willing to do the grunt work of walking yaks, defending towers/keeps, responding (preferable using a chat program) against overwhelming odds, then you lose.
It is nothing personal, but if 90% of the server only wants that sweet sweet lootz then there is much better ways to get it outside of (real) WvW. Simple advise would be placing a few players in every tower/keep with the new siege disruptors. It is not as if we don’t want the competition (we do, bored currently), but you have to have to be willing to give up on most of the loot if you want to compete with t1.
to help everyone out with this i found that when i hit 29 i went and did my story line and only had to do 2 of them to get from 29 to 30. then the xp went back to normal. hope this helps everyone.
Gonna try this tonight.. I used a birthday booster @ lvl 25 and I don’t want it to be a total waste.
Edit: It worked a bit, it took 4 (early) chapters to get me to level 30.. at least it’s over now.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
Leveling a mesmer for roaming in WvW. Leveling a zerker ranger for nuking anything and everything anywhere (who needs pets?). Making a legendary (maybe) as I just got venom as a drop, although IMO all legendaries should give above ground footprints at least, so I may not bother with it.
Got a ranger to 80 yesterday in EotM, and I am starting a mesmer just to see how rolling on the keyboard feels. I still have my necro to fall back on, but until we are given a bit more in the attrition department, as we were promised, I will run a more synchronized profession.
Maybe once ANet realizes that one of our trait lines (Blood Magic) is a waste and a detriment to our main class mechanic (DS) I’ll roam (pun intended) to the other classes.

Anet PLEASE give Dirril some TP credits or something. My god, I have dealt with this all day, your techs couldn’t do diddly, but low and behold one of our own solved the issue. All Hail Dirril~!
I second this. After a day of pulling my hair out then having to bypass the login screen (may want to give this fellow Rafal.9062 a nod too) with a command line, a fellow user had to post a final solution. Pay it forward ANet and at least give these guys a few gems for their effort.
Signed: A happy fellow user
This seemed to work on Windows 8.1 (latest updates): disabling “Automatically detect settings” in the Network > Proxy control panel.
Not sure if this was just coincidence, or something else was fixed. Perhaps the new launcher is more sensitive to network issues / crappy proxy detection? I had previously tried basically everything everybody else had in this thread (repair, run as admin, disable firewall/av, uninstall/attempt to reinstall).
It’s a simple setting to test out, so it might be worth a shot.
FWIW, That fixed it for me as well – I no longer have to run the launcher with -email / -password / -nopatchui.
This is on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
Make sure “Automatically detect settings” is UNcheckedFunny thing is, I usually disable auto-detect but apparently I have gotten lax in my old age.
EDIT: This fixed the issue on all 3 computers. I think we have a winner!
THANK YOU BOTH.. you have made me a very happy man!!
try this one:
1. create shortcut to Gw2.exe
2. right click on newly created shortcut -> Properties and add params like this: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -email your@email.com -password yourpassword -nopatchui
3. run from your new shortcut
This worked for me, but I cannot access the new TP. On the few occasions I have tried GW2 crashes.
Yeah. Funny, or should I say the sad thing is that they.. or well the monetize people in fact think this will increase there key sales a lot.
They look at the numbers.. oow many people farm for keys, lets make that impossible and then many of them will buy. However in truth they won’t and those people tent to not understand games so much. They are to focused on making people buy stuff.
So all they end up doing is in this case removing an element of the game many people like.
It’s the sort of thing you so in cash-shop games that do not do much good for the games.
Question is.. are the monetize people also still believable after it turned out this did not increase key sales? Sad thing is that probably they are indeed still seen as professionals and can go on with making other bad decisions.
It also means that in the blog they basically lied when saying the rewards would be better. I think many people will see this as lesser rewards, not better.
Hasn’t worked out to well for the record companies thus far, just saying.
My only problem is I don’t want to be forced to rely on the RNG in order to have these nice skins. If push comes to shove though, I’ll just not even bother with them at all.
I never did key farm, but I did like to buy the occasional skin off the TP, and if this change places any of these skins out of reach of the average player it is a kitten poor decision on ANets part IMO.
It still amazes me how a class that is decked out in heavy armor wielding a 2 handed great sword is more mobile than most of the light armor wearing classes (eles excluded here).
What has armor class got anything to do with mobility???
Well if I was gonna run a marathon I would not want to wear the full body medal bullet proof stainless steel chest piece and the matching steel plated boots. I would think that a nice pair of running shoes and a t-shirt would be a much better alternative.
For a fantasy game this tends to stretch reality a bit to far for me, sorry if it wasn’t clear.
EDIT:
…snip
The mobility is the only thing going for the greatsword. Warriors are slow and clunky to begin with, and with they added nerfs they are far from high energy damage dealers now.
I guess you have never played a sword/warhorn warrior with the gs offhand?
Thes guys can get across a map faster than most classes can hope to.

Black Lion Tickets Scraps and/or Black Lion Golden Tickets for GEMS.
That is all, Thanks.
…snip I challenge any of the balance team to play a necro for the next 2 months after the patch. strickly necro.. see how your adventures fare.
Never gonna happen. All the detergent in the world wouldn’t wash out the foot prints on their armor when seeing a nearby zerg coming at em. Until the necro become viable in every game mode I have relegated mine to zerg vs zerg fights only.
Got sick of waiting for a change so I just have a mes (now) for roaming and a warrior for anything PvE related.
I honestly hope that with the key farming being removed (moved to higher level), that they increase the rewards offered in the chests.
I don’t mind spending a few gems occasionally to the RNG gods, but I refuse to empty my bank account just for the chance of a skin ticket.
Better yet just put an actual gem price on the skins so I don’t have to buy those chests in the first place.
I wouldnt say that is improving the bloodmagic line that is completly reworking it.
And i am not sure if it would be for the better…
In that case, what would you change or modify?
Step 1: Make siphons and Regeneration boon (add Parasitic Bond and Parasitic Contagion, too) heal the Necromancer while in death shroud.
Step 2: Re-evaluate from there for additional changes.
The primary reason the Blood Magic line sucks is because it’s in conflict with our profession mechanic. Remove that conflict and it can actually be balanced properly.
Could have not said this better myself. If an entire trait line ignores our main class mechanic, it makes that trait line useless to all but a very few builds (MM). Even if it were to be re-evaluated to the % of healing we are given in and out of DS it could still be a benefit to us.
Could be due to the fact that there is nothing to talk about. We get a few new colors, but no added functionality, so everyone will just wear the color that suits them and people will just follow the new rainbow.
Now if they had added a guild color or a squad color only usable by, and seen by, only a squad/guild then I am sure there would be a few posts, but alas no.
When Necro gets to deal a massive burst of damage with full life force is when I would support the OP.
Me too except for a small caveat. That being we should get our healing traits (and any incoming healing), utilities and elites usable while we are in DS.
Hmm, well I guess that would just be a warrior then.. nevermind.
Thief is the most powerful stomper by far:
- stealth stomp
- blind stomp
- stability stomp
- teleport stomp
Thief is also the hardest to stomp:
- stealth (100% chance of success)
- teleport (100% chance of success)
Elementalist has the best WvW downed skill:
- invulnerability + movement
(can even move into towers/keeps while downed)
Necro here, if I get downed in WvW I usually just open the map (if not 1v1) and wait till I can port. Even if I can somehow revive, I still won’t get away from a group. Saves me from seeing the finisher at least.

I’m just hoping they get this “sprucing up the UI” out of their system and deliver on precursor crafting, housing and anything else we have been asking for since the last CDI.
1. Put people on the balance team who are interested in fixing the necromancer class. Maybe then we’ll be the first to get fixed, and not dead last, rushed in just before a major tournament. It’s things like this, and the way Signet of Vampirism was rushed and not given any attention (thus it is completely useless), that makes it seem like the devs are completely uninterested in the class.
2. Balance from the point of view of the overall game, which includes PVE and WvW, and not just pvp. Pvp is only one third of the game, and probably even a smaller percentage of the player population. It’s absurd to constantly balance around pvp only.
3. Send the devs to visit the necromancer sub forum for ideas on how to fix the class. It wouldn’t hurt if they visited more than once a year.
+1 to you. The only real change we need is for the Devs to look at what the people that actually play necro’s have to say about them. I’m not saying to go on blind faith here, but we have been on the back burner for so long now most of us have lost all hope for a good change.
I’ve actually stated it on a few other threads, that as the attrition class, we should have much more access to torment and even a bit of confusion. The reasoning being that torment makes your enemies stay and fight as opposed to running away and confusion makes those that stay hurt themselves when attacking. Seems more attrition based to what we have currently.
Even if we have to give up some of our fear for the other two conditions you would have my vote. Sadly as it sits the currently the mesmer has a much easier time of making their enemies want to stay and fight than we do.
As for your suggestion of an AA (staff in this case) having torment, I’ll agree we need more ways to keep enemies from running away from us.
what a bunch of ungrateful dead. snip…
Not ungrateful at all, if anything I am grateful for ANet finally giving me a reason to switch my main to one of my other classes.
Yes the DS ability to rez and down was a nice change, and yes a cooldown on some spectral skills will be nice too (not all of us use them though, so not so much). My problem is that in all the tweaking all the other classes got, we are still either forced to take a GM trait for the stability or become a virtual ping pong ball, not to mention we have NO reliable escape after a year and change of playing.
I am now quite sick of being a sitting duck with only one viable build option in WvW (fear spam). Leveling a mesmer currently because they not only get stealth, but the torment/confusion we should have been given if we were to offer a challenge.
Not me…
I feel we have been getting the “stinky” end of the stick for so long we need nose plugs.
Hence why I started leveling a mesmer when I heard of their buffs. Even the change to PU don’t negate the fact that stealth, blocks, vigor etc far outweigh the additional health.
It’s a good decision, and I might do the same for the first time during 2 years.
My patience reached it’s limit, I’ve had enough.
Leveling a mesmer currently. The plus side being that all the ascended armor and trinkets I bough for my necro can just be moved over to my new main.
I won’t be as good in a zerg, but roaming will be fun for a change anyways. Still gonna use my warrior for all my PvE needs though.
I played a necro main from beta hoping we would get anything to compensate for our lack of mobility, stability, blocking, evades, vigor etc etc, but alas it will never happen; or at least within my lifetime I fear.
I just rolled a mesmer and even though they don’t have any extreme movement skills like the thief they are far in away the better class (without the buffs coming) due to the fact that they can stealth and clone their way to victory. I also will be dusting off my dual axe warrior for the extra damage axe 5 offers, but I am sadly gonna put my necro in the waiting room at this point.
Spectral abilities and a seconds shaved off here and there will NEVER make up for the fact that we are just sitting ducks for the duration of the fight.
Make Mesmer
/15 char
It may be a bit out there, but I would be quite happy if they just replaced half of our bleeds with confusions and torments. This way when we are under pressure and have no way of escaping at least we are still a threat. Confusion makes for a very nice auto attack and burst skill killer and torment with high enough stacks makes an escaping enemy only hurt himself.
A thief complaining that a necro escaped him. That’s hilarious.
So much THIS!!
I can see him around the campfire when he is an old man telling his grand kids about the ONE that got away.
Ok lets make a compromise, we will give up shadow walk resetting a fall, if you give up even half of your mobility.. seems fair to me.
Good enough, key farming is stupid, and obviously not something they wanted players to do.
I have nothing against players that want to make their eyes bleed by doing repetitive content ad nauseam. That being said the rewards for actually buying the keys seems trivial, I believe, because a certain percentage of the player base diminishes the value of said keys by farming them perpetually.
Hopefully (dreaming), if they move the rewards for said keys to be more of a nuisance, maybe those of us that buy keys will see an increase in the rewards offered from the chests. Most likely a pipe dream, but the main reason I haven’t bought keys for a very long time is due to the rewards offered in a chest.
Fancy interface for the chests aside; ANet can wrap crap in a shiny package all they want but in the end you are still unwrapping crap.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
how could the buff necro def?
remove aweful ICDs from signet of vampirism,
lower life force lost when hit in death shroud,
give things like spectral armour extra effects,
increase the healing of life steals,in short there are plenty of ways they can do it
I like your post and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Seriously if any of these were implemented I would be incredibly happy. All I am expecting at this point though is a bit higher life force generation and a few tool tip rewrites. As it sits I’m thinking I may start leveling a mesmer next week.
We feel it’s important to offer players the chance to adjust their world ability point selections at the start of a tournament, but I understand how it can be tedious to have to spend those points again across all characters. Being able to reallocate points at any time, in a manner similar to our trait system, is feedback that I will definitely bring to the team, for future consideration.
Thanks!
A few more months (maybe) of the EotM karma/badge/wxp train, and there might be a few players that are not maxed in everything. May as well have an option to keep all your skills maxed if they are already there anyways.
I myself would be happy if they just let us get the runes/sigils out of them even if the armor/weapon itself offered no salvageable mats. Being bought with badges means (now with eotm) that they are easy to acquire, but it would still be nice to recover the upgrades.
+1 (we don’t need no stinking badges back)
Sounds extremely trollish to me OP.
If the dev in question had/has the power to kick you, then I’m sure he/they has the power to just move you to your own mega server instance instead. But as others have said send a ticket if true, posting here will most likely not endear anyone to your plight.
