Add me into the happy crowd.
After 2.5 years being told we were attrition if only we could master DS and having our shouts, screams and protests unanswered; I will be finally happy to say main a necro . Although the numbers are not finalized, it does finally seem as if a dev has heard our pleas.
Putrid Defense – 10% less damage from poisoned foes
Trait that decreased dmg of chilled foes – 15% (not final)
Protection – 33%
Frost Armor (RS #5 + #2) – 10%Holy Moly.
Finally some god kitten attrition!!
I’ve been playing since beta and my only ascended armor set is on my WvW wells necro; one piece I got as a drop. For everything else I use exotics but I do admit I make a ton of gold selling silk and linen to those that must have it. Either way, as in life, if you want the best you had better pay for it. I’m playing for fun and not to be an alpha dog myself.
Oh and thanks for buying all my silk.

Slow and well orchestrated attacks.
I’d say there is a reason the hero/heroin wins against the big bad boss every time.
I could not restrict myself so. I theme all my characters though to suit the class, hence my norn is a huge warrior that is a drunkard and spends most of his time hacking at stuff with his axes. My necro is a plant person as I believe that being only on Tyria for a short period of time would make death related material appealing to them. The only human I have currently is my thief, but as I play him as a sneaky underachiever with delusions of grandeur it suits him.
Magic 8 Ball says:
“ask again tomorrow”
I would honestly have a heart attack the day I log in to see a +100 anything gain in WvW icon above my taskbar, for that matter even a +20 to magic find PvE worldwide could very well give me seizures.
Nope. Day seven now, or is it eight – I forget (it all blurs together now) – of farming SW for hours and hours and no portal drop.
Also, rng is rng. “shrug”
Same here and I have not gotten a portal. I have seen many linked though and although I will come back to it someday I am through for now. If anet doesn’t e-mail me with an invite I’ll just sit this one out. It is frustrating, but I am sure reddit and these forums will be rampant with threads concerning it.
To those of you with the RNG gods on their side, have fun for those of us that were not so lucky.
Speaking for myself, I simply don’t want the toxicity of PvP flowing over into the PvE environment. For the same reason I enjoy WvW, but have only entered PvP a few times. Even the lobby is a cesspool of this vitriol and I, and I am sure many others, play games to have fun, not to listen to this garbage.
If Anet were to implement an out of the way arena that could be used with all current PvE foods and such then I would support it, but honestly I firmly believe that those that want it aren’t being altruistic in their motives. BTW finding a very out of the way area in WvW would accomplish the same ends as places like the skritt and centaurs are generally empty even on T1.
As for mounts they are simply not needed with wayoints being quite prevalent.

Death Magic° Remove Deathly strenght.
This trait is the staple in my build. I am currently using the toughness to power in WvW in my build and if they remove it as you suggest here it will totally destroy the build I use.
If it was moved/modified to suit another tier or line I would be good with that, but I would prefer it not be removed.
If I finally get one (after over 40ish hours) I will leave SW and not come back for a VERY long time. I am so burnt out on farming now I honestly hate the place!
All my current builds are a collaboration between the stats I got from my trait lines and my equipment. When these changes go live I will be missing out on every stat that I augmented with traits/equipment thus making my current gear worthless to my builds.
Take the case of my necro, I have very little ferocity gear as I relied upon my soul reaping tree to provide most of what I got. Now, however, I will have to reinvest in new gear if I want the numbers to match what I had originally; can’t say I am happy about the change at all.
My solution is to just spend hours customizing the rear end of my characters.
I use the minor traits deathly strength to boost the power of my necro in WvW zerging while adding the greater marks trait for the added radius and making marks unblockable.
I have played this exact build for over 2 years now and really enjoy the tankyness it provides. Now I have to choose between greater marks or deathly strength so I will choose neither and instead just be a 66006 necro clone. One without the other is far to much of a sacrifice and the strength I will get with the sprite line now FAR outweights the toughness I would receive in the death magic line.
You don’t get stats from lines anymore, so I’m not sure what you mean.
No you will get them from your armor/trinkets, but that don’t mean I wouldn’t rather use tanky gear (soldiers) to give me a bit more power with a trait instead of having to only use zerk. With this change i will not get the extra power unless I sacrifice a major trait for it. And that is something that doesn’t appeal to me.

I have run nonstandard builds since the beginning betas and have gotten used to using minor traits such as armored attack to reinforce my power. Now that most of these have been, according to the stream, incorporated into major traits taking away other somewhat useful traits, my question is why even bother using any toughness/vitality traits at all?
This one steam, has in essence destroyed every build I have made in the last two years with this change, and I will now just become a clone of every other <insert X class here> when and if I decide to play the game that is. If your intention was to give us more choice you have failed terribly. I can see having to make a choice between buffiing X weapon/skill and Y weapon/skill as a major trait, but this change just makes me want to start naming all my characters with the 6 6 0 0 6 prefix.
Thought up another, more rhetorical one. Do you think that after almost 3 years that is it a wise move to totally recreate a system (some would say for a second time) many of us have used and understood for years?
Also will this change make it easier or harder to design future content for us the players and if not easier, why bother? It is a simpler system, although veterans may not like it completely, they will quickly get use to it. Since it is simpler, there will likely be less of a learning curve for newer players, putting them on par with veterans quicker. It will allow easier balancing because it does have some inherent limitations (can’t combine two “master” traits in a single line now). Finally, it allows for easier integration of new traits as they will just add a trait line, and since those lines will likely be in the form of an Elite Specialization line it is even easier to balance since multiple elites cannot be combined.
So, it seems like a complete win/win from a developer stance. They just have to weather a few months of veteran player complaints (and during that time, many other veterans will help them defend the system too). By this time next year, only the nostalgic people will remember or care about what we have as our current system.
it wont be the end of the world, but if you had an off the road build, there is a high chance that it will dissapear.
most of my alts were just for fun, and had those type of builds. Just for fun builds will die. there isnt room for both with only 3 choices per teir and only 3 lines
And you have no idea how much this saddens me. I love nothing better than designing builds for specific purposes and have, it’s true, woken up at 3 in the morning after thinking up ways to make X work with Y and then trying it out on GW2SKILLS.NET.
Time will tell with the AMA this afternoon, but if the new system is dumbed down to much I may just as well be a <insert X class> clone.
I am deeply concerned about how the Hero Point system will affect WvW-centric players.
Since Hero Points will exclusively be attainable through what is known at the moment as Skill Challenges, and the lack of those Skill Challenges in WvW will force many to play PVE to get all their skills and traits back, will WvW offer appropriate methods of gaining hero points at a comparable pace and difficulty as PvE will offer??, because this is a pretty critical point for people that have no interest whatsoever in playing PvE.
They have added an AMA thread in the WvW forum section:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Ready-Up-4-24-Specializations-AMA/first#post4999434
It would appear that you are not alone in your concerns, I would also like to know.

they said they think it will be easier to create new elite specializations now.
I was thinking more broadly than just the skills and utilities. I was more focused upon new content as in new dungeons, bosses, fractals, open world content etc. as these are generally things that may require certain builds. As an example I have to carry a few different sets of gear in order to do different content, so what I am asking in this example is will this new system reduce the clutter in my inventory. There are many other ways that moving to a new system could benefit us the players, but if it makes content truly easier to implement, and in return giving us QOL then it is a good move, but if not, then my question is why bother making us get back on the hamster wheel as we did in the NPE.

Will vitality, toughness and healing power be as useless as they are now in PvE or will they become more necessary with this Xpac? Also will PvE ever get any real AI making the creatures more than just large punching bags of health making the meta be “zerk or go home”?
I like to do a bit of theory crafting and enjoy building characters with a eye on themes (chill thief etc.) will any of my creations be anything more than a waste of time in PvE as they are now?

For me the lag comes and goes but my main problem is with the constant DC’s.
I DC when I meet a large blob, I DC when I am in a 3 way in garrison and I DC when I try to leave the game. The queue times are usually quite high in T1 so this can turn a minor inconvenience into a MAJOR PAIN IN THE KITTEN very quickly. I have sent in numerous reports to ANET when it happens and yet it continues. At this point I could care less if we get new maps when it is apparent you need to fix the ones we have currently.
And yes this is a bit of a rant post but you would rant too if you got DC’d every time you wanted to join up with your guildies for a bit of fun!
There was a post similar to this on reddit and that is why I bought it.
I spend a good amount of time in WvW so it pays for me to use it. If however, I was not going to WvW in this game I would have saved the gems as the other buffs expire far to quickly.
EotM ruined ranks.
This farm is ruining a difficult title to get.
Well at least when I get yak slapper (4 more years) I’ll have one I can wear with pride, unless they start making yaks spawn in OS that is. And at the rate they (ANet) are making actual achievement mean nothing I can see them doing that next week.
I could not tag quite so many targets in WvW without one; more I will not say in this thread.
I play most classes currently but that is only due to the inability to use templates and save builds. If I could make templates for each play style I would only have one main character. That won’t sell character slots in the store however, and has sadly (purposely?) been put on the back burner for over two years now.
No thanks, just learn and do the events when the map is over 50% and you will not only get a few shovels but you will earn the other rewards too. Having an item in the gem store that promotes mindless farming is IMO not needed in this or any other game.
I have a power necro for zergs, a mesmer for roaming and a thief for everything else.
Necro’s are not the worse class in the game, but they have been pigeon-holed by way of the nerfs we were given after the dumbfire debacle. I am not saying the necro is garbage, but everything we can do other classes do better; save well bombing and (debatable) tagging.
I have once gotten a box of ascended armor with rabid stats and gave it to my condi mesmer.
If I got an ascended armor box with a stat I didn’t use, I would most likely come up with a build that works with it. For me It is not all about the meta, but about being able to think outside the box. 3.2 silver is quite low though, but I would never throw it out or sell it anyways as you never know what changes the future holds, but I am also a bit of a pack rat.
For WvW, whichever weapons I have equipped usually depend on what I’m expecting to run into. Staff and Scepter/Torch are a reeeeeeally fun combination, though, if you’re into condition shenanigannery. Here’s wishing you luck finding a set of weapons you enjoy!
I use this combo a fair bit myself, although it doesn’t pack the wollop of power. I use it due to the ability to lay on condi’s thick while still having a toughness of over 2800 (rabid/dire mix). I know that is not a consideration for most, but as I grew older and my reflexes have diminished, it is a good combo for me, that has the added bonus of being quite forgiving.
…snip
If I could have any title, I would have ultimate dominator even though I rarely wvw, because it really shows your dedication to it to get 250k kills…. snip
Unless you run obsidian sanctum and use the other server to “help” you farm kills. I got 100k kills the old fashioned way of actually playing WvW and when I do finally get that title I won’t wear it.
OT: my favorite one is combat healer because it very simple to get and shows others you are willing to help out when needed.
Super laggy today. I also have noticed massive rubber-banding/lag spikes since the airplane update…
The lag has been a problem ever since the stability change.
yes ever since the stability patch… but that doesn’t mean stability is causing it but since that monday patch 2 weeks ago…
Actually the lag has been a problem for over a year (release?) with every patch, even the ones designed to fix it, making it progressively worse. Many members of my guild could “spidey sense” when another guild was around by the loss in frame rate and a slowing effect (lag) on their connection. Since the stability patch however it has gotten much much worse and now DC’d are becoming the norm and not the exception. Our entire guild of 20ish had at least one player DC every 10 minutes on reset, and one very unlucky fellow DC’d 4 times and rage quit.
I often leave the mini out and you get the “too many players in an area so we are putting your mini away” warning that allows one to know others are getting close.
Until it gives away your position when you go through a veil, or other invisibility. Pets tend to show your approximate position, same goes for talking backpack, but those are other issues.

I’m a member of a small guild on TC and the lag this evening was so bad that the majority of us were rubber banding all over the kitten place even when facing even numbers (20ish)!
Seriously guys if this is the way reset is going to go, I can see three very empty servers fighting over the dust or just giving up to let the roamers have all the territory. Funny thing is we used to fight against each other now we just fight to stay connected!
I realize that we are not in the same category as your precious e-sports, but for the love of the game, fix whatever you broke.
It always confused me too as to why the high level blanket condi food (i.e. koi cake) offers a +40% to all conditions, but the high level select food (i.e. fancy truffle burger) only offers a +15% to poison etc. IMO It would make more sense to have it be reversed.
Oh well, logic doesn’t go well in a world where there are rainbow shooting unicorn bows I guess.
I wasn’t aware that these even came from the chests as I have never had one drop, but I agree with the OP. I spend my time divided between WvW and PvE and these items would be useless to me and a waste of bank space. If I am unable to sell them then I will simply destroy them.
Side note to ANet: Some of us have no interest in the vitriol that comes with the PvP environment. I do WvW, but the chat isn’t open and I can avoid 99.9% or the diatribe there while supporting my server. Please remove these from the chests.
WTB a -1 button, thanks.
Please think of the poor wing flaps!
I blame the lawyers for everyone being an entitled child.
Disclaimer: to any lawyers that may read this post I live in Sweden and have no fixed address.
I wanted to be on the Titanic, but I took an arrow to the knee.
To soon?
People complain because they are unhappy.
If you don’t want a lot of complaints don’t do something that will nearly universally annoy people. Or choose to do it and put up with the complaints.
Anet is of the second mentality since they pretty much ignore their forums anyways.
Good. I really don’t blame them.
I get upset about their lack of transparency often, and then I get over it when I remember that a huge portion of their playerbase is kitten children.
I wouldn’t come around here either.
+1. You can remember this fiasco the next time we would like some information on what might be coming out. Way to go protesters, you have won the right to see even less red tags. Are you proud of yourselves?
But I like bad curry. Reminds me of glop me old mum used to make; ah the memories.
I would settle for a block user as it seems to only be a few people making these threads.
Meh. I turned off the post processing to remove the sepia tint effect and played some music while I did map completion. Seriously it is for one kitten day, relax already.
Good call, but, problem is now my ranks (NOT from EotM) will matter even less than the title I will have worked hard for in REAL WvW.
Some days I truly hate this game when true accomplishment can become so belittled.

JQ the new top ranked server complaining when you had so many players transfer to you for that very reason. The queues and lag come with the ranking btw.
The irony is thick; just saying.

IF we are given new dungeons in their current form I could care less.
Stacking and spanking once you all know where to stand is beyond boring to say the least IMO. Stealthing past all the lessor or trash mobs becomes the rule and not the exception once the dungeon is repeated ad nausium.
If Anet can put such emphasis on the RNG in other areas of the game they should do it here also. As for me, I don’t do many dungeons anymore, but if I did I would prefer they adjust the way they are done before they added in more of the same.
As for quitting if they don’t add something you want, that is your option. However, many of the twists and turns they have done since release (unskippable cut scenes.. BAH) have made me upset too. I just try to tell myself though that they are trying to please more than just the few and eventually some of us might get what we wanted.
If I can tell for sure* that a couple players are dueling I let them be. If however I get a message saying I disrupted their fun* I just block them and go on my way. If you want to use a World vs World arena to privately duel then expect to get run over.
- subjective I know, but it is not as if we have an DUELING flag we can set up.

Frankly I think they should move it to Death magic & make it apply AOE stability to nearby allies upon entering & leaving death shroud (2 seconds each)
I don’t think I would want it in death magic, but I concur on the rest. As a VERY selfish class we could do with a bit of party support and making our FitG be an aoe (5 target) would go a long way towards making me want to take this (occasionally) over deathly perception. If you added in the stun break I would use it regularly.
