HEY ANET! I used to be proud of my rank in WvW but then you came up with the EotM k-train and it started to mean nothing. Then this week came along with the buff to k-trainers only to make the situation worse. I am sitting this week out due to me personally NOT enjoying the (not so new) k-train aspect. I only hope when (and IF) I decide to return that you have learned from your mistakes here, but I doubt it!
Honestly I would be happier with consistent AOE timing. I have noticed that depending on the encounter, and once the red circle is placed, sometimes I have 2 seconds to dodge and sometimes must less.
This change would make getting out of the way easier. You can add the consistent type too, but I would just prefer all AOEs to be timed the same.
… snip Tommyknocker I’d be interested to see how it shook down ingame, from my experience a life blast build relies heavily on crit damage for the bigger numbers which is why I tried to get at least 200%.
You can switch out the sigils of bloodlust for sigils of cruelty if you prefer. I tend to take the bloodlust though for when I am not in shroud as it seems to hit higher when I don’t crit.
Similar build here, I gave up a fair bit of ferocity in favor of raw power. Still very tanky; been running this in WvW since patch.
Not meta by any means, but I am a survivor. I would like to take spite, but I found that with blood the warhorn buff and life siphon have become to good to give up.
If you want suggestions for future events you must first take us seriously.
We do not want another karma train, those that want that garbage have EotM,
We do not want PvE garbage in our maps, scarlet was MUCH more than enough!
We do want the devs to realize that many of us only go into PvE to get gold ect.
We do want to be rewarded much, much better (see above).
Ok these are things I want, but most people in my guild and here seem to parrot these requests. Treating WvW like just something added on to many of us is insulting to say the least. Events like the golem rush week just seem to make us feel like second class citizens whilst catering to nobody save the k-trainers.
As for suggestions I would offer the following:
1) Fight week: structures offer nothing save a waypoint and or safe haven but all kills reward 5 times the PPT (up to 5 can stomp) and MUCH better rewards per kill.
2) Defense Week: Each player inside a structure adds to the overall toughness of the walls and gates. If outnumbered you get free cannons and oil pots on all owned structures.
3) Roamers Week: Any group under 15 (in an area) will get structural vulnerability for free on all structures (gates and walls) that they attack. They will also cap bloodlust twice as fast as normal. All kills by roamers will count for 3 times the PPT amount normally given for a kill and give better rewards.
These are just off the top of my head and could/should be tweaked to suit others, possibly with a community discussion. Something I can assure you we NEVER got before you thrust this week upon us!
Nomad would be viable if they had foes that hit really, REALLY hard, or if they had attacks that were unavoidable or something.
Just as high defensive characters pay for their build by being very low dps, very offensive builds should pay for their build with being under much greater threat.
So far that’s just not true in most cases.
False.
It appears not to be true because we’ve had 3 years to perfect and improve our ability to stay alive – to learn boss tells, encounters, AI behavior and everything else.
In the current content things don’t appear hard because you have experienced players running the content.
If we were exposed to new content I guarantee you most players would be unable to zerk.
The threat is there for new players even today and was there for everyone at launch .The problem is that given thousands of attempts at said content through trial and error the threat goes away since people learn and adapt.
Hence we need a new approach. The reason PvP and roaming in WvW are so popular and wearing full zerk is more risky there is due to the fact that your opponents think.
Way back in the beta days enemies in PvE would dodge and get out of the aoe circles occasionally, but many complained that it was to hard for them. I personally long for those days back and I am a self confessed filthy casual. I still hold out a minor thread of hope that the new AI will be implemented world wide and not just in the new areas; but that is most likely a pipe dream.
Not trying to be rude here, but a D/D ele complaining about meta bullies, strikes me as funny. At least you can use and drop frost bow, which is one the the most wanted utilities. If you want to know what real bullying is try playing a necro for a week and see how many dungeon runs you are welcome in.
As others have said though just start your own LFG and take it from there. I know when I wanted to do dungeons as a necro, starting a party with casual run or similar terminology got descent results although you may have to wait a while for the party to fill. IMO many of us dungeon casuals have long since given up on them.
Well I would, BUT due to the way WvW is so unrewarding I have need to do some PvE.
This is not what I want to be doing, but in order to get food, armor, weapons etc I need gold. So in a way I do not strictly WvW, but that is due to ANet’s policy of not giving me a steady supply of gold so I am forced to play their way and not mine!
Bare minimum you need to pause glicko for the week. This isn’t WvW and shouldn’t be counted as such.
I agree completely. When we have very few numbers on in the middle of the night it is usually enough to hold off a descent sized blob with just AC’s. Now they will be out of luck simply because a handful of golems can wreck a gate in less than a minute.
Also setting up a few ac’s to fend off the golems is useless, one omega can target and destroy ac’s very quick. Going to be EotM mark 2.
Seriously ANet before you do things like this consider this scenario:
Would the PvPers like it if it rendered a complete play style (defending) useless?
Would the PvEers like it if everything you faced was (even more than now) EZ mode?
If you are wondering why the forums have blown up over this you need look no further than EoTM. I am sure they love it there, as all they want is their 24/7 k train now made faster with cheap stronger mobile siege added. Those of us that enjoyed a more skill venue are now stuck with either EotM mark 2 or sitting this week out.
I myself will sit this week out save maybe filling in a few chores for my daily.

I bought WvW gear ONCE. I learned my lesson; if you are gonna buy this stuff at least put a rune/sigil in it worth very little.
Nowadays I just use GW2SKILLS.NET and make or buy what I want off the TP. This way if I decide to change my build I can at least get my runes/sigils back (black lion salvage).
Honestly, if we cannot extract items for the rune/sigil AT LEAST give us a warning when we try to slot something!
My thoughts are that currently if you don’t do enough dps you don’t get credit, and thus do not get reward, for whatever you’re doing.
You are, and have always been, punished for not having enough dps
As far as I’m concerned Colin is blowing smoke.
Sad but true. Until they equally reward the guys doing healing , crowd control and other support, players will continue to gravitate towards carrying the biggest stick.
PLEASE please bring back dragon bash.. restocking my supply of 20 minute food at this point would be most welcome! The chefs may not like it much, but I would be very happy with food that doesn’t cost one arm, one leg and one eye.
Yours truly from a one armed, one legged cyclops.
how about shroud makes you immune to ranged attacks?
Would be a bit to OP IMO, but having it offer an immunity for the first 2 seconds or so would help close the gap when facing lb rangers.
This might be the only thing that would make me give up death perception; well at least for roaming.
I like having 53K+ health 3.4K armor and 3000+ power (without might stacks)
It’s my go to class for new content or whenever I can’t be kitten d to “speed run”, or whenever I want to run a class that doesn’t die when “other players are noobs”.
Care to share your build? This sounds like something I would like to try.
I would care more if they behaved more like henchmen and less like children I am forced to keep an eye on lest they get into the cookie jar.
Let me guess, necro?
I still play my necro and its my main.
I do all kind of gamemodes with it. I’ll be posting the builds i use for each mode and that may help, i don’t know. We can still do pretty well if played correctly and carefully.PVE: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_DS_Shredder
PVP: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Celestial_Signet
WvW: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Signet_RoamerHere you got some WvW videos as well, may help, i don’t know.
Unfortunately not all of us are in the 1%. I myself wasn’t sold on the necro for the burst, nor for the high end condi; I was sold on it being an attrition class as was originally advertised. I am well aware that a few players are godlike with a necro; although top end PVP teams seem to get by well enough without them. IMO if you are making an entire class only be a beast in the hands of the very few, it is a waste of a class (dev time) and anet would do wise to listen to the other 99% of us.
Still sucks /thread
I still do. My necro is a particularly tanky (death/blood and soul) well bomber in WvW and it works quite well. My damage output is not as good as it once was with the ferocity nerf (ferocity used to increased with soul reaping) but I can survive well enough with it.
For everything else I use other classes more suitable to the content.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
Some of those changes (if real) could not happen fast enough!
Necros are one class that you’ll run to and kill without a thought. It’s funny because when in WvW, I see a necro, I go for it. Sometimes it takes one to know one. I think we all know our weaknesses and what makes us tick. Lack of escapes is still the #1 reason why people always gun for the necros, and this continues to plague us.
Another reason I like to gun for the necros is because they can be easily interrupted. I know our heals are slow, if you’re a melee and you can’t interrupt me when attempting to CC, then it’s a l2p issue. I also know necros don’t get invulnerabilities, which surprisingly so many other classes have.
If we use our elite abilities, unlike other classes that have strong elites, ours can be ignored…literally. If you see a plague, run out of range, we have no swiftness in plagueform and no way to close gaps, gg mobility. If you see a lich, put up wall of reflection, or again, run away or use los. Or better yet, just side strafe left & right and watch our highest damage attack miss.
I wouldn’t pick a necro to solo roam in WvW, seriously. But I continue to play my necro because I’m needed in WvW group/zerg meta.
+1, Could not agree more. I am not one of the 1% here and the scariest time for me as a well bomber/support necro is when I have to make my way to the zerg. It seems I always find that one ranger, mesmer or thief that has nothing better to do that make me run back from spawn. Lately I just sit in spawn and wait for a group heading to the tag.
Reflection wouldn’t help us close the range, as a reflected knockback would knock them back.
I wouldn’t use it on the knockback (if i could time it right), but just being able to reflect the rapid fire would be a godsend IMO. A block however would be a descent alternative (pipe dream?).
…snip
And I don’t really feel like lowering my IQ tonight – so have fun.
Good thing we kept it courteous and professional. I would have hated to see this devolve into insult throwing. Would you like to start throwing feces now? I f so I am not interested.

Okay, those who want the “zerker meta to be gone” are quite likely wearing soldier’s or whatever tanky gear and feel inferior. So they claim that those playing in zerker gear are brainless and can do so because there’s no AI.
So; if the AI gets raised – who’s the first to die?
Not the zerkers.I’m sorry but this makes no sense. If you built to be tough you do not feel inferior, although it does take a bit longer to kill things. And generally if you built to be tanky you don’t go down as easily as those that wear full zerk. So your assumption of the zerker being the last man standing is illogical at it’s core. I am not saying that there are not exceptions, but saying this as fact is just wrong.
You don’t – ok – why then complain about those who wear a different gear? There has to be a reason for that?
You do as you don’t know how to play – sorry but it’s true – if you knew you’d go full glass. So if the mobs became harder those who need tanky gear right now wouldn’t stand a chance.
I’m aware that there’s a lotof people out there who wear zerker’s although they shouldn’t, but I somehow guess that’s still a minority.(And btw I’m quite often the last (wo)man standing – in full zerkers
)
I did not complain, I was merely stating that iron man (can take a beating) is inherently tougher than spiderman (can’t), to use a analogy. As for the AI, it remains to be seen as to what (if anything) is done to it, and at this point it is all conjecture. If a player wants to go naked through arah it makes no difference to me as I was not the OP. Becoming more tanky allows one to take more damage (not just avoid it with dodges) and hence makes you less likely to die when you slip up. If you cannot understand this simple principle I cannot help you further.
Edit: And I am glad you are often the last person standing, but that does not disregard that hitting a cement block would do less damage than hitting say a balsa wood plank.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
haha, Anet already think shroud is OP in its current form and its the main reason we cant have nice things.
Anything that we get becomes OP because our class name is necromancer apparently. When same mechanics are on any other class they are fine.
We just need to learn how to use it… lol /s
Personally I play the necro (was gonna give it up before blood magic rework) simply because I like to play the B-52 of my guild. I have a tanky well-bomber that suits me very well and although I only use him for WvW he is still my favorite. I “may” make a reaper for PvE eventually, but that depends on what content we get in the next year there.
Protection is really good, but it is not as good as Devs seem to think it is. (Look at guardian shield 4, which is probably the only bad weapon skill they have).
Anyways the fear wasn’t there at launch and that’s the main reason to use the skill, even if it is trivial to avoid in a fight (except in WvW AOE soup). Sometimes I take it just for the field. (Cast it on the Svanir shaman and watch him spike up to 30 stacks of confusion after).
Spectral Wall will never be a pvp or dungeon useable skill.
It would become much better if they replaced the protection with a block or (PLEASE) a reflect. LB knockback rangers might even be easier to counter; at very least it would give us a way to close the gap.

Am I the only one that is praying that they add the new AI to the entire world?
It might not fix the zerker mentality, but you would have to be a kitten good player to pull it off. Things like condi burns and evasive blocks etc. would mean a lot more if the enemy was actually fighting back once in a while. But unfortunately I believe it is all a pipe dream.
There is no chance (nor reason) that Anet would even consider this request (to change the number of Salvages a kit offers). There are numerous other solutions to the OPs issue.
There is a good reason. The fact that people salvage much more than when the kits were first designed.
They do this for the magic find generally. My suggestion is to just sell every light/heavy armor and weapons on the TP (medium armor can just be sold). Access is easy enough from most places by going to the mists or WvW borderlands. You will have enough to convert gold to gems and buy the copper-fed in no time. If you still don’t want to buy it then it is your loss.
As for myself I have bought 3 of them for my main characters and I am quite happy. To each their own.
“Just don’t gain magic find anymore”
lol ok
Not till you get the copper-fed. Then again I am starting to think this less a question on how to help a fellow player out (to which you got more enough replies) and more a whine about the game not being fair.

Yeah no…
he is stupidly overtuned. If you want to drive players away from the game then leave him as is, otherwise fix him.
Yeah, I am sure the whole playerbase will leave the game because a single fight requires some slight planning and organization….
Maybe not the entire playerbase, but the likely the ones that want the instant gratification (MANY). Up till now Teq was getting done fairly regularly simply because you could do a LFG and get a taxi onto a map within 15 minutes (sometime less) of the event and have a good chance it would succeed. If it is kept the same the LFGs will dwindle and only organized groups will even bother; similar to TT.
Not a good selling point for an open world event. I am sure ANet have the numbers, but seeing as the size of this thread on the subject many here are not happy with the new difficulty. We already jumped trough the hoops once to learn the fight, why must we do it again simply because ANet’s fix is to just give him more health?
For WvW none, I am quite happy with my well bomber there, and the nerf to chill/mobility is a real downer for roaming. In PvE I’ll give up blood, because afterall who needs healing when stomping target dummies?
Disappointment?
It has been one week after a major patch that totally redesigned builds; you will of course see variety. The meta is still in flux and players are trying new things. Give it time and you will see some stronger builds prevail, till then enjoy the fact that everyone isn’t just wearing zerkers.
I would LOVE an open pvp zone. Ganking pve’ers would make me soooooo happy.
EotM is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In PvP, the change hurts necromancers whose only way to keep up with their enemies is based on mild CC, i.e. chill and cripple, which after the change no longer affect the movement skills.
This change wasn’t even justified in an intelligent defensible manner which in itself fits into the Anet’s failure of communication track record.
It needs to be either rolled back or explained by someone in a manner that is informative and justifies the change beyond a childish, naive ‘normalization’ argument.
Yep this change pretty well ruined the reaper for me too. Why should I have chill on an auto attack when the effect is no longer a deterrent to escaping? Sure they will still have the effect on them after the leap/rush/whatever but if they are out of range of our (amazing…lol) mobility at that point, then again, they can reset the fight whereas we cannot.

Effort v reward how much time is 1g and a spoon worth? if you fail 2 out of 3 that’s nearly 4 hours.
Exactly this! How much gold is your time worth to you seeing as you need to rely on the person next to you being able to do as much damage as you are doing; or at least know what their abilities are. Not to mention the guys on the map close enough that are scaling it up but not actually fighting, those waiting dead to be rezzed, the rather bad guy on the mortar, the list goes on.
I’m still all for an instanced encounter myself, I may never do it again, but at least people won’t complain about it (as much).
Apx $500 but I don’t consider it an investment per say. I regret nothing as this game has given me over 6000 hours of fun (thusfar) and if I was not spending time here I would just be spending it on less entertaining things. I was never was a fan of the outside anyways.
Been requested many many times. We even had a dev at one time ask what we would like to be included with said template (PvP forum though). Since then it has been quite silent on the dev front, much to the chagrin of the entire GW2 community.
Count me among the many that want it!
+1 Balekai, could not have said it better myself. If you are having problems with a necro now, remember the free bag days of yesterday because they will not be as easy to get now!
And to the OP, no we don’t need a DS life force nerf, you just need to learn when to attack us. Like I said no more easy kills!
Ummmm you know there are 24 bosses + 6 tempels + SW map so in total lets call it 31 world bosses. From those 31 only 2 are some what with higher difficulty(Teq and TT) and actually chalenging.I don’t see how 2 or even 3 bosses (if HoT introduces 1 more) can creat toxic enviroment.Casuals have 29 world bosses vs 2(3) hard core ones…
Ummmm, and you know that making these 2 bosses instanced takes nothing away from the game right? The way it sits now when say Teq or TT are failed, some poor bloke gathering ore has to hear in map how everyone on that map is an <insert swear word here> for failing the event, he had no part in. The possible new(ish) player might just quit GW2 simply because the friendly atmosphere he heard the game had decides it is not for him afterall. I can understand you wanting to keep it organized only, but that goes against what GW2 wants or they would not have made it open world IMO.

(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
My point of view goes like this.
I am a member of an organized WvW guild that enjoys mixing it up, however I avoid PvP like the plague because of the vitriolic and toxic atmosphere there. If I wanted to hear that kind of language I would just go pick up my child from pre-school.
If ANet wants to make content for the hardcore in the game they need to make it instanced so as to exclude the so called newbs from being able to attend. In lieu of this if they must make it open world then they have to keep it, within reason, doable by most players.
TT is already dead because many of the casuals (you know guys that work and only play to have fun) don’t have the time to sit on a map for an hour. My point being if they continue along these lines PvE will become as toxic as PvP, and if you don’t believe that fail a boss in SW and experience it for yourself.
I’m not calling for a total reversion because with the new condi damage he becomes far to easy. What I would like to see is that the pendulum swing the other way a bit and increase him by 50% instead. And while they are at it maybe give TT another pass too.
TL:DR ^ see above.
They should just increase the reward and leave everything as is. That and I think the game needs to have a few world bosses that are harder to kill, other wise Tarq would just stay a check-box on the daily to do list.
Every world boss should drop something nice so players would have an incentive to be bothered.
Tarq is in a good place as far as difficulty goes.
All I know for a fact is that the LFG tool is full of taxis for teq (or was last week), but I have not seen a LFG for a wurm taxi since it was released. This tells me that 90% (loosely) don’t even bother with the wurm and have instead gone on farming SW.
Hard content is all well and good, but I fail to see how it will appeal to most of the player base when the bar is placed well above them.
or if the reward is basicly 1 out of 10 wins you get a scneded gear box.
otherwise you wont get people to like this
This. And 90% (loosely) of the players are less hardcore and generally if the content is to hard won’t bother with it. Players don’t like to stand around in an organized map to possibly watch it fail so eventually teq will be a ghost town similar to the 3 headed wurm is now. I have still to succeed at the wurm simply because I refuse to sit around for an hour for it to maybe fail.
And yes, I can join an organized guild, but my roster of guilds is full. Also if you need to have teamspeak just for succeed it should have been included in the core game IMO.
I don’t, in WvW I am far to busy looking for my next victim (loot bag).
Let em bleed out or I’m sure one of the guys behind me will finish them off.
I have never run meta builds, unless I discover them myself that is. I prefer to do the experimental thing, trying to see what works. Then again I have always had a problem with people telling me what to do. I have builds that although not meta are fun for me and after all in a game is that not more important? I generally don’t bother with dungeons or fractals so it don’t bloody matter to other players anyways.
Better than that, each stack of a condition counts. Mark of Blood will give you 2 stacks/target.
Oh sure tell me this when I am stuck at work for a few more hours
.
Really liking the changes thusfar though, although the changes to plague and cc are kinda bad, I guess I can adapt. I will use golem, even though if an enemy passes gas nearby it dies, simply because he can proc the stacks I hear. As for a heal I will most likely stick with CC for now, in hopes they buff the others a bit.
