Anet said that this is just the first step to make other types of build viable and purge the “GO FULL ZERK OR GTFO” movement that has been plaguing the game since launch. I hope it works, getting sick of these PvE meta builds.
If anything it’ll just become more prominent with the nerf to crit damage. Less damage from the same people will make it more noticeable that there is someone in a non zerk build.
The only way to get the numbers anet has said for the crit damage change is literally to crit 100% of the time.

A healway warrior has passive heals that outheal any damage I can do on my warrior, guardian and engineer… 1v1 y’r near unbeatable against anything except a thief maybe.
Except the healway warrior also uses blocks and evades as well. I’ve run across it and honestly they have no chasing power and deal crap for damage. It’s basically a sit on the point closet to enemy teams respawn in spvp and do nothing else really.

I can’t believe how unfriendly this game is to the casual player in concern to endgame content. I never really thought about it until I realized that with 40 gold there really wasn’t anything I could do anyways with it.
There is no endgame content where “you can’t really do anything” with a 1g exotic rifle instead of Scarlet’s Kiss, apart from 20+ fractals where you need agony resistance.
If you insist on being “casual”, get the “casual” stuff.

You can literally go all the way to 40 taking the least amount of damage from agony with just +5s on all your accessories no AR on weapons or armor in fractals. (assuming infused back piece and rings thats 30 AR right there +15 more for the amulet and 2 trinkets for a total of 45 AR the max for the 30 bracket)
First of all, I don’t think you can compare any game managed by Nexon to basically any other game on the planet not managed by Nexon in terms of communication. Nexon is basically the very embodiment of not giving a kitten about your players.
Actually the nexon thing holds quite a bit of important. ANet is owned by NCSoft, NCsoft had 30%~ of their stock bought by nexon. Also I believe the person who heads up their gem store is also an ex-nexon employee.
Actually i currently have 72% crit dmg with my ele.
After the patch it’ll be around 50%., That’s a 22% lose in damage. No amount of power/pres/cd/vit/tough could make up for that in pvp terms.
Considering the general rule is max 10% for zerker… it’s far high for celestial user which contains a time BLOCK on crafting.
It’s not a loss of 22% in damage. Unless you literally crit every hit.
So I take it you all think that there shouldn’t be esports in any game. Because those players like in LoL win millions of dollars for winning a large tournament. Or should you be able to win millions of dollars for not being competitive and playing only the PvE part of the game? Should you win millions of dollars for completing the Call of Duty campaign? I think this is awesome that they are finally recognizing the PvP community with this level of reward.
Think they’re finally acknowledging the fact that the pvp community is dwindling ever since launch and is at its stalest point in over a year. Ever see eles or rangers in top pvp? There might be 1 for every 30 warriors, mesmers and thief. PvP has gone stale, it’s left a sour taste in most people’s mouths. They’ve had over a year and a half to fix the issues with it. Being capture the point type maps gets old, having the same 4 classes with little to no variation in builds among them gets old.
They figure giving out a legendary to a few PvP players (no way are PvE players going to win this what so ever) will do little to no harm even if they are tradable to the market and might help bring a bit of people to PvP.
I think lack of good content (mindless zerging every 2 weeks for the past year is not good content), no end game (other than fractals really), balance patches so far and few between, PvP being not what they said it would, idiotic changes to systems that work fine but could have been fixed/better with slight tweaking (removal of glory gain and what not).
Stupid patches that don’t address issues that should be addressed, stuff that make little to no sense (removing glory and not putting another system in place while removing it at the same time giving pvp players no real incentive other than it’s pvp), and overall just dumb choices from the devs.
If anything just readd glory gain till they can either fix the problems with it or leave it as is. Glory is gw2s version of balth faction. You used balth faction in gw1 to unlock skills for pvp, or in the case of most people who never ventured past 3 builds zkeys. You use glory to get new item skins.
Now they’re changing the trait system because it’s too confusing? Confusing to who people who never played a game? People who don’t look over the internet? You’re told how to spend your trait points when you get one and I haven’t forgot that since LEVELING MY WARRIOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. So they’re dumbing the traits down to the level a 2 year old can figure out. Oh and you’ll also have to buy your traits from what I read. HURRAY MORE MONEY SINKS THATS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED IN THIS GAME.
ANet has nobody to blame but themselves for people leaving.
Of all the people I bought this game with only I remain the others have gone back to league of legends, PoE, dota2 and some other game because the lack of balance updates, lack of pvp variety (capture points? really?), lack of end game content amongst other small menial things. Catering to casual players is viable strategy(league of legends made a bajillion dollars off of it) but you still need to appease the hardcore players.
Also a lack of communication from devs is a large reason why some games literally just go down. ANet you should look into a game called dungeon fighter online, it would appear your game is literally headed into the same direction that game went.

Go into high level fractals. Everything does way to much damage (one of the main reasons people rage quit at dredge on the third), basically any champ or legendary will 1 shot down you during lvl50s.
They have several trait tutorials now, so confusion isn’t an issue any longer.
If you needed your hand held to figure out this games trait system you’re either brand new to games or you’re completely helpless.
Needless to say they’re dumbing it down even further.
Not to mention you’re going to have to buy traits which is just kittened.
Why wait for season 2 to start/finish before a balance patch?
Balance before season 2 then make minor changes along the way. Seriously it’s like anet wants people to quit the game.
Not quite on the topic of crafting the legendary but… I don’t think legendary weapons are worth all the effort it takes to gain them. Sure they look awesome and I would love to have one, but that’s it. They look cool. If I wanted a weapon for stats I’ll just craft an ascended. I think Anet should make legendaries better stat wise. Not hugely better but still better then what they are now. This would be a disaster if they were easier to come buy, but they aren’t and so I think this wouldn’t make them “OP”
No just no. I see enough legendaries already I don’t want to be forced to grind 1 out to have bis items. I already hate the grind of farming money to make multiple sets of armor already we don’t need another bis gear farm.
I was wearing zerk armor on my warrior before it was cool. I’ve had my zerk armor so long that when I bought it a week after release I didn’t even know runes of strength didn’t work (they were fixed eventually).

Just transmute the skin onto a second zoija weapon or something so that you can have two of the same ascended zerk weapons but easily recognise which one has which sigil based off of what color it is. That’s what I did when I got a shaman weapon chest. Now I know first glance which axe has sigil of battle and which has sigil of undead slaying.

LOL how many ppl craft those?! you need toxic spore that is no longer dropped. You also need dust and they are expensive. Which make the tonics and nourishment too expensive for general use.
Spores do drop still. They drop from krait and nightmare court (toxic alliance or not), foes in kessex hills, and foes that die with toxic corruption which you have to harvest, and those toxic offshoot events that nobody does (yes they are still in the game.) Dust an expensive material? Once you’re done making ascended gear you literally have nothing to do with dragonite ore, dust or emp frags. I’ve personally thrown away more empyreal fragments than dust.
Also you don’t craft them to get rid of all your excess dust? Granted if you didn’t buy any of the toxic consumable recipes I wouldn’t bother with it now.
I run a support build on my ele with magi stats with celestial trinkets. I wouldn’t say it’s the most optimal thing in the world but it works for me.
But as adula said if anything use it for an underwater weapon unless you want to run a support based healing build.

I WISH the GW2 UI was as good as the GW1 UI.
Honestly they’ve done themselves a disservice by not allowing it to be as customizable as the gw1 interface.
Champs are very welcome in a map. Instead of “nerfing” Queensdale, move the meta to Cursed Shores…. Move it to Southsun Cove… Move it to Malchor’s Leap, heck even Straits!
This is the only game where starter zone gives better loot then top zones. Which is weird to me. Is it weird to you?
Only reason people do queensdale instead of frostgorge is because they count as events.

Hammer damage is increased when a foe is disabled. Reduces recharge on hammer skills.
“Disabled” refers to any effect that prevents character action. (Daze, Stun, Knockdown)
All 3 of which are completely irrelevant if you have stability/stunbreak not to mention that the moves that cause these for a warrior are extremely telegraphed. There is no reason in a 1v1 you can’t dodge earthshaker or backbreaker.
What they also want to see in an expansion is some ‘new element / mechanic’. That can be many things. Personal house, house building, mounts, factions, mounted combat, mini combat. A specific new type of content that does not yet exist. Of course what one wants is different per person but any good expansion would add something completely new.
Highlighting this because it will never exist. Theres no reason for mounts to exist in this game like gw1. You can map to any town you want/waypoint. Granted the waypoint you want probably isn’t open if you’re in Orr but there is generally a waypoint close to pretty much everything you want. I mean hell go look at snowden drifts north west corner and tell me why we need 3 waypoints all within 10 seconds of each other? 1 is pretty much perma-contested because it’s a guild puzzle waypoint the other 2? yeahhhhhhhh………..
Balance patches are to few and far between. So many useless traits/runes/sigils. Why would you kitten yourself by running x when y is stronger and z is stronger than both x and y combined? You wouldn’t play a guardian with just a staff in pvp would you?
The problem is there is no reason to mess with much of anything after you’ve figured out the best stat combo/weapons for your style of play.
Aside from Healing Signet and mobility, i’d say that warrior skills in general scale too well with Power. Autoattacks (GS and Hammer) doing 4-5k and Whirlwind Attack (which is also movement and evade) doing up to 3-4k per hit (compared to the measly 800 a Blurred Frenzy – which also self roots – does) is too much, no matter how offensively a character is built.
Blurred frenzy also gives you evasion and you can cancel it anytime if you have a weapon swap available. Same with whirlwind. God forbid a class that is suppose to be the master of melee be good at doing damage with it. Also if you’re actually being hit by multiple GS and hammer autos you’re doing something wrong no matter what class you’re on. The autos are slow and easy to dodge just by walking. I’m by no means saying that warriors aren’t strong but they’re a class that THRIVES IN MELEE. They’re meant to take punishment and deal it right back. Also I’ve never seen a 4k+ auto with gs/hammer unless it was a crit in zerk gear.
I’ve said it time and time again the problem with warriors isn’t healing signet it’s cleansing ire and the defense tree. Also WvW would be better off not allowing consumables but that’s a completely different argument and irrelevant.
Ok to answer some of your questions. 1) I have 2300 armor and already told you my Attack / crit chance / crit damage. 2) I do 2-4k with lightning whip versus EVERY target EXCEPT Warriors. They are the one of 2 classes who can 2-3 shot my Ele. Thief being the other. To stop CC i had used AoE, + AoE traited for the extra protection and stability. However the amount of damage his CC abilities did 7-8k Earthshaker is over 50% of my health. I have almost 14k Health. Why is the Warrior the only “bunker” who can take a glassy builds damage and face tank it while out healing it, yet any other bunker can be killed. A Warrior even in the worst players hands can just run his/her hand over the keyboard and still wreck havoc on any Elementalist.
Because ele is in a sad state of affairs and has been discussed to death and they need buffs.
People are shouting for an expansion because a large playerbase is tired of being shafted by temporary content with very little left of it being permanent. The PvP community is just shouting for faster balance patches and bug fixes.
If you missed a LS update and didn’t get the meta achievement for a mine-able node in your home instance you missed your chance to get it. People want some form of end game other than pvp/wvw or to be in a giant zerg for 2 days every 2nd Tuesday. The aetherblade dungeon (temporary), and the molten test facility (again temporary) were great. They turned them into fractals (four of them, 2 being boss fractals). This is an example of well thought out content. Marionette as much as I hate to say it wasn’t as mindless zerg content. It required a bit of communication with people in chat yet was completely doable but still could be failed even when people figured out how to do it be it from lack of people or lack of communication between players.
Let’s just ignore the fact that ANet killed whatever competitive scene this game had (before it even began really) by not fixing traits/skills in a timely manner. Balance patches are to few and far between. I mean hell when’s the last time you saw an ele in spvp? When’s the last time you ever saw a vast amount of rangers? Granted they realized that a majority of their money earning potential comes from PvE players but it’s still not a reason to completely ignore balancing things.
For the past year (mostly) we’ve basically been a mindless zerg achievement point hunting group every other Tuesday. It’s gotten old. People want something different.
The only thing we as players have to blame is ourselves for playing this game but still some of the blame can be shifted towards ANet but not all of it.

According to the wiki there is no armor labeled as “tribal.”
Unless you’re talking about everything else. For the most part everything thats in pvp is in pve.

There is no “tribal” armor in pvp. Only weapons which are available from a karma merchant.
Also as far as I know all pvp skins are obtainable in pve some being quite expensive others being dirt cheap or karma.

Yes, the guy is a thief and yes there were 3 of them and they should have played better, but as for the mobility aspect, warriors just have ridiculous mobility compared to everyone else in the game. That he has correct.
When I fight a warrior I can almost guarantee if I get him down to 20 percent he’ll run, and there’s nothing I can do to catch him.
According to OP he had a hammer and sword in his main hands. The highest mobility you can get on a warrior is sword+horn/greatsword and if they have this combo equipped the only thing they’re going to kill npcs. If you’re roaming with 3 people you can kill 90% of singular people if you have 3 people who aren’t brand new to the game.

The knights had their hp lowered by 25% because only 50 people can fight 1 knight at a time. Read patch notches before making silly statements about people not playing. Granted it still doesn’t stop the fact that some players are just bad.
Stealth with only 2 direct counters to it. 1 being a wvw trap 1 being a terrible ranger skill that is never used.

Still fail to see how they can be working on anything else when they’ve said themselves they don’t have the time to test content before they throw it out. In case you didn’t play at release it was riddled with bugs EVERYWHERE. Skill points not working/activating correctly skills not working/traits not working. Some of these are still present today.
They say they’re working on all sorts of crap. They’ve proven to me that working across 50 things having 2 people on this, 4 on that, just doesn’t work. Granted not all of them are going to know how everything works/what effect it will have etc etc but less projects worked on at once = less time consumed on that project = faster release = more projects getting finished faster.
It’s like building a medium sized house with a crew of 14 guys. It’ll take them roughly a week if they don’t have to wait for permits/inspections/other crap. Build a house with 4 guys who have to wait and them working on week ends only it’ll take them much much more time.
I know some items are set up for it, but I don’t see them going to 500 any time soon with jewelry or cooking.
The logical product of jeweler 500 would be ascended jewelry, but that is already limited to laurel vendors, and so on. So it’s tied up in that respect.Anet’s developers need to find something for jewelers to make in the first place before they can move forward with taking it to 500.
Except not every stat is buyable with laurels/guild comms/fractal relics which would be the purpose of doing this and would offer another way to get the jewelry. Do you know of anyway to get an ascended amulet for other than laurels/laurels+badges other than the triforge pendant (which costs kittened amounts of gold to craft anyway)? There’s more than 1 way to get armor/weapons (non ascended gear anyway) you can buy it with gold or karma, craft it, be stupidly lucky and have it drop, or do dungeons and trade the tokens in.
We already have 3 (crystalline ore/ingots, and xunlai electrum ingots) things in the ascended crafts section in the bank. They probably have something to do with the jeweler so they might as well just use em already.
Basically if they release ascended jewel crafting you’ll finally be able to get the exact stats you wanted for your ascended trinkets that aren’t buyable from the merchant like magi’s and assassins (you can’t buy ascended assassins or magi’s trinkets and the only way to have them currently is to have had old magic find ascended and have picked them).
There is a very good reason as to why there is no dueling in the game.
The game is balanced around 5v5 not 1v1.
Dueling would lead to massive amounts of threads with people whining about how X is much better than Y and how it is impossible to defeat A with B and so on.

Jewelcrafting 500 on march 18th update?
Signs point to no, says the magic 8 ball.
That patch is confirmed to be the removal of the current living story content, an epilogue if you will.
It is also confirmed there are no feature updates for that patch. Of course what the word feature might extend to is somewhat unclear, but the general consensus is no balance, item, skill, rune, sigil, or trait changes will be in that patch.

It is possible it could sneak in. Considering thats the date balance overhaul of sigils and runes and skill/trait nerfs/buffs are supposedly going into it.
Guilds are pretty much buffs, people to talk to when map chat is dead and missions.
There is literally pretty much nothing a guild offers that a solo player who only wants to play the content with PUGS anyway
Anet skipped the traditional quest grind to max and went with the hearts and LS is basically get 150~ AP every 2 weeks with a stupid backpack/hat. Nothing more.
