Travis the Terrible.4739

Let’s be honest there is no point in fractals after you’ve gotten your ascended backpack (assuming you went this way) and ascended rings.

Hell I’d say half the people in my guild don’t know that it exists or that you can get skill points, 20 slot bags, obsidian shards from the fractal relics.

The rewards for doing levels higher than 21 (the first level available for 3 pristine relics a day) isn’t even worth doing after you get all your rings. Some drops+1 gold+some karma assuming your average pug group time of an hour? I can get more of all this in queensdale sitting at boar. Once you start going higher everything just 1 shots you anyway so you might as well just go zerk or go home.

difficult=/= 1 shot kills/stupidly high health

Just too many contested waypoints in orr

Why should a player that is on Eredon Terrance (one of the lowest ranked WvW servers without the population to put up a fight), for example, have to play on Jade Quarry (the top WvW server with full 24 hour coverage) to enjoy the content?

.

You don’t. I got 100% map completion on a support ele build with very little help (outside of wvw because lol wvw map%) on yaks bend during the dead hours of early est time (2-5 am). This is more of learn to play issue and avoid mobs you need not even fight. Guesting to higher population servers just makes things easier if you die.

Mapping orr takes significantly less time than other zones unless you suck at jumping for the vistas. 2/3rds of orr is running around grabbing waypoints, pois, channel skill points and mining. I’d say you could probably map out cursed shore 2 or 3 times before you finish mapping lornars.

Transfering backpieces to other characters

I think you have to buy a gem store backpack. They come with 2 items – the actual backpiece (which has no stats but is not soul bound) and the skin for the backpiece ie plush char or whatnot. Then you can Transmutation the backpiece to the blank one, and transfer it to another character.

I think the gem store backpacks are the only non-soulbind on acquire backpieces in the game.

Any of the backpack “kits” that come out of the black lion chests give you a backpack strap. You can buy them off the tp for gold and you can then sell the skin for roughly the same price if you don’t want it.

That’s what they want you to do…If you want “cool skins” you got to pay them with real cash and/or spend a huge amount of gold…Nothing’s being hand out for free now.

Edit: Just wait for the next perm. dungeon if you want to see new perm. skins.

Black lion ticket weps are perm. They just change in price.

That aside there are some cheap yet great looking weapons that just need to be transmuted thats all.

pvp wise gw1 > gw2

Back when you could play any form of pvp at whatever hour you wanted in 2007/8 (less so later in 08) the game was fun and fairly well balanced. RA, GvG, HA aka tombs, Alliance battle, hero battles (when it was there) and team arenas (when it was there).

If they brought gw1 pvp formats to the table in gw2 they’d be far better off instead of this WvW and spvp crap. Both are cap this, cap that, stop them from taking this or that and win. Feels like the “teamwork and communication of tactics” has taken a back seat to “e-sports.”

Nothing was better than going into GvG and seeing you’re paired against a guild of equal skill level and barely winning or going up against a guild that was better overall and you win because of a ballsy plan.

Remove healing based on adrenaline level
Remove filling all adrenaline
Remove/change the scaling per adrenaline level to a flat .75-.8

Have it grant 3 adrenaline every 2 seconds while off cooldown.
Have it heal at a level 3 adrenaline base level no matter what.

Just my opinion on what they should do with it.

What happened with us!

The warrior was never a “free kill”.

No idea what game you were playing but playing a warrior at release was like taking a knife to a war zone known for using nuclear weapons.

Why would you play a warrior when you could be a d/d thief at release press 4 twice and down 3 WARRIORS AT ONCE? Why play a warrior when you could never die on a guardian bunker against 50 people at release? Why play a warrior when a ranger would just kill you by pressing the 1 key and never using any of his other skills at release? Was having to go through all of this worth it to just press f1 with an axe and crit an ele/thief for 15k? Not really.

The warrior was never a free kill at release. They were an easy kill 90% of the time just like how eles are right now. How often do you find yourself dying to an ele these days? If anything warriors now are more likely to not run away till they find a friend in pvp but run in head first and take some abuse till an ally comes in to help or you kill them.

Why I Avoid Tequatl & The Wurm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The problem is with how “difficult” the content is not where it is. I can honestly say I haven’t touched tequatl on yaks bend since he was revamped. I can say I haven’t touched the wurm since the first day because they decided to make content that was impossible to do with an average mindless zerg. I think we’ve proven as a community that content like the wurm is a bad direction with world bosses. Making a boss so stupidly difficult to do is just silly.

Outside of an exploit for wurm has it died since it was fixed?

Warrior Healing Signet Nerf?

in Warrior

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

8% is deserved, but anything more would be to much. People asking for a bigger nerf are stupid. I have read many threads about this subject and I agree that Anet makes a good call on this one. ICD of 7s for cleansing ire would make us perfectly balanced. Like one of the most balanced classes there are.

You’ll notice 8% but not in such a degree that it will ruin builds. And please don’t compare single out heals with each other. There are a ton of different factors you need to take into account. So many I don’t even bother to list them unless requested.

I don’t think a cool down on cleansing ire is required, not all, but most adrenaline skills hard terribly difficult to land.

Again here we separate the bad players from the good ones. I land 80-90% of my eviscerates except when playing against a s/d thief. But ye that is obvious to why.

People complain about the hambow removing too many conditions and I agree. The longbow F1 is to easy to use and in teamfights you build adrenaline up so fast you can use that one and the hammer F1 on cooldown, meaning 6 conditions removed every 7s. That is a bit over the top and is why the hambow is so so strong in spvp. Removing 3 conditions every 7s would bring them more in line with the rest.

And F1 skills were never ment to be randomly spammed and assumed to hit. The burst skills are there to be carefully set up and worked to, so you could finish off your enemy. You can even hit every earthshaker if you wanted to, just count their dodges and know which invulnerability/evades/eagis/blocks they have. Kite those out and earthshake, do full combo and you’ll most likely finish them off.

If you’re building up full adrenaline in 7 seconds with a hammer/bow combo you’re either hitting 5 people at once with your hammer or you’re pulling this number out of your butt. Longbow burst does not grant adrenaline (srsly it doesnt). The only way to build adrenaline this fast with a hambow build is to use signet of fury which has a 24 second recharge if you’re traited for signet recharge. The only way to remove 6 condis that quickly with f1 burst is to use signet of fury and use both your burst skills. Then if thats the case you’re better off just using signet of rage with lyssa runes.

PVT still the "go to" set?

in Warrior

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

PVT isint viable anywhere … It has a worthless stat which is vitality and it lacks the second most important stat which is crit dmg. Stacking armour isint good because it becomes weak after 2800 which is 33% dmg reduction. So if you want the best offense while being fairly tanky you can either go
1) full zerk gear + cavalier trinckets
2) knight gear + zerk trinckets

Don’t forget to be well protected from condis with melandru or Lyssa runes . If you’re using a stun based build you can ’’cheat’’ your stats by replacing the useless precision with crit dmg or toughness because of unspec foes that gives you 50% crit .

Hi I’m vitality and I’m the indirect counter to condition builds. Hi I’m condition removal with vitality and were here to tell you that CONDITION METAS ARE LAUGHABLE.

Sincerely vitality and condition removal.

If you think vitality is a worthless stat in pvp I’ve got some bad news for you. No matter the awful form of pvp you’re playing vitality isn’t meaningless or useless.

Why would you nerf the spirit weapons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

hahaha spirit weapons suck now? They have sucked from the word go. They have never been a viable build for a Guardian in any situation. Proof? No one uses them . . . Fortunately I believe I read that Anet are addressing this in the upcoming patch. Fingers crossed anyway, would be a nice mechanic to play around with if they were viable

There was a point in which people used the hammer on guardian in pvp because it would knock you back every 4 seconds. But that’s since been fixed.

2nd Burst Skill

in Warrior

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

I like the idea. As it is, the meta has warriors almost never using their burst anyway due to traited +15% damage at full adrenaline. New bursts would be a nice way to incentivize players to use the burst. Burst skills should be like signets. A passive bonus for adrenaline shouldn’t always be the better choice activating it.

Take that trait out and Warriors will use their Burst skills

Why bother to run that trait in pvp? You should be using your bursts in pvp for cleansing ire making this trait irrelevant. Only time afaik that trait is being used is for pve and I run 30/20/0/0/20 and take sharpened axes and just use my burst and get back to full in a few autos.

But, I’m talking about what’s inside the areas for your convenience, so you have everything in one place when you double click the ticket which is what both the Royal Terrace & The Captain’s Airship are designed for.

To be honest neither are really worth what they charged for merchants and everything to be right there. Not like running/porting around towns costs you anything anyway other than 20/30 seconds. Shameless money grab tactic is all it was imo.

The point of "time gating"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

A time gate is simply some activity where a countdown clock in one form or another prevents you from doing the same activity again within the time frame. Daily server resets at around 4pm pst (i think) is a time gate on daily achievement points, weekly guild mission resets, things that can only be crafted once daily, and the “daily rare” chest from world bosses are all examples of a time gate.

It is just an attempt by the devs of any game to force some things to take longer for the ultra wealthy, in GW2, they would have had all their ascended weapons and armors done on day 1 without time gating for example.

Except they already did and only slowed down the less wealthier players thats all it did.

RNG drops are not sufficient.

Some of us do not enjoy crafting at all. We don’t want a second job, we just want to log on and kill stuff and have fun. Do we not deserve BiS gear?

what if you had to buy the ascended parts from a player, but could combine the final recipe (with more materials) via an npc, say after a dynamic event chain oe in a dungeon.

For example:
buy from tp
elonian shoulder guard padding
elonian shoulder guard panel
ascended insignia
1 bolt of damask
1 elonian leather square

earn:
300 bloodstone dust
200 dragonite
200 empyreal
20 skill points

trade to npc for ascended shoulder piece.

crafters can do it themselves for less materials, but they have that initial cost of getting to 500.

Except it takes 200 of dragonite, bloodstone and emp frags + 20 skill points FOR 1 PIECE that is not the chest piece.

How challenging is Guild Wars 2 for you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

Look at Marionette/tequatl/wurm,

Marionette can be done with a large guild of say 80 people. Same for tequatl.

Wurm? How many total wurm kills across every server are there? No more than 15?

The reason why people are leaving servers and going to t1 servers is because of the amount of players available at any given time. How many people are guesting to blackgate to kill tequatl? How many to “try” to kill wurm?

I’ve been saying this since the rework of tequatl. If they continue to re-vamp world bosses and make them harder people are going to stop doing them because of the time it takes to organize and do them. I can’t tell you the last time yaks bend has killed tequatl but I’m willing to bet it was around the time he was reworked. Making stuff harder? Sure. Making things more difficult than they should be because you want people to have a challenge in pve that requires the other 100+ people in the same server/overflow is just bad content design. Especially for open world stuff.

Only time I’ve seen overflows outside of boss trains for zones that don’t get much traffic was during the first few months of the game when everyone was racing to get 1/2 characters to 80 as fast as possible as cheaply as possible.

There really is no reward once you get 100% map to bother going into lesser populated zones again for other than world bosses/dailies/guild missions.

Anet, why dont you split PvE and WvW?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

They can’t balance WvW like sPvP for the simple reason that you aren’t dealing with the same numbers 95% of the time.

And I doubt WvW players are bothered by dailies. You can complete your dailies from the comfort of WvW. The main complain from them is that Ascended equipments “forces” (because I don’t think it’s such a big deal) them to play in PvE.

The main complain for PvErs is that they hate WvW with a passion.

You can get all the crap you need to make ascended gear in WvW. It’s just far quicker to get all the needed materials in PvE. So saying it forces you to do something is just silly.

Get rid of the stat inequalities!

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

I think the easiest way to balance is this:

Armour balances versus Exhaustion
The tougher your armour, the slower your endurance regenerates.

HP balances versus Endurance
The classes with low base HP have naturally high base Endurance pools, and vice versa. So Warriors, being heavy and high-HP, would have only enough endurance for ~1,8 dodges and regenerate it slowly. Elementalists, being lightly armoured and low-HP, would have endurance for ~2,4-2,5 dodges and regenerate it quickly.

I’d go one step further:
Physical size balances damage absorption versus agility
Larger characters (total size, so depends on race and designated size) would take slightly (smallest Asura -> tallest Norn should be ~5%) less damage. On the other hand, smaller characters dodge farther. Tallest Norn -> smallest Asura should be ~25% extra distance covered.

This would just make asuran necros completely and utterly broken. Leave the endurance as it is and not take races/armor/hp/character heights into this. The game seriously does not need something this “complex” of an idea to it. Vigor is easily obtainable by most if not all classes and there are other ways to get endurance back with sigils/traits/food.

Leave dodging/evading the same as it is now.

in Profession Balance

It started out as a bit of flavor, and to give certain profession their strengths and weaknesses.
But after a year and a half of balance blundering, its lost all meaning. Warriors were suppose to be balanced around having natively high armor and hp, but theyve been completely overbuffed.
Now there isnt really any reason why a full zerker warrior has more hp and armor then medium armor professions who dedicates stats to toughness and vitality.

Inversely, Elementalist were suppose to draw their survivability from healing and boons, but had their healing and boons nerfed quite harshly over several patches that it doesnt justify the low armor and hp anymore.

Its one of those things that were suppose to be a part of balancing professions, that very quickly got forgotten entirely and never changed. I dont recall any changes have ever been made to a professions base hp/armor.

Let’s be honest here. Warriors were complete trash at the start of game for sPvP. Now they’re great because of buffs to them. Slightly over powered though. Eles? Great at the start now trash after nerfs over a year and a half.

Needless to say balance will find itself eventually and classes will be forgotten about for a while. Name 1 online game that balanced in a day, month or year. No game has been or will be100% balanced be it with new additions of skills, class additions (gw1 assassin, rit, derv, and paragon threw the game out of whack for a bit), new weapons (not skins but new weapons) or new stat combinations.

It takes time to balance. Now let me just throw this at you but if you ever played PvP in gw1 you know of a skill called smiters boon. The skill was just to good at what it did, now it’s a useless pile of crap thrown into the scrapheaps. Any build built around this skill was thrown into the dumpster and made over from scratch. It spawned a new term “smiters boon’d” for when a nerf was coming to skills. The skill was nerfed so bad that the devs haven’t touched it since it was nerfed.

Balance comes and goes and classes will be crap here and there. It’s how balance works.
