I do wish they would stick the Bleeds back on, say, Volley. That way those of us with Exotic (or worse, Ascended!) rifles that are condition based can still get some use out of our weapons.

Even before the rifle 1 change it was still better utilized as a power weapon not a condition based weapon with skills 3, 4 and f1 being so heavy into pure damage.

since the improved Arcing Slice that you can now actually use it, i find it so easy to clean conditions, i even dropped zerk stance.

unless you really really need the -20% condi duration.

This is a joke right? Only time youd ever use arcing slice is when you want more tags for bags. Unless you need condi clear. On single opponents it does less damage now than it did before the rework.

Also the armor skins are also now put into the wardrobe when you get them so every character has access to them so why not with the tools and passes. I just don’t want to pay another 1000 gems just so I can have the same tools on another character.

Putting the tools in the bank and grabbing them takes like 30 seconds. Assuming you park your characters in town near the bank…

Trading Precursors and other high value items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

One of the reasons they cited prior to launch for intentionally not having direct trading was to cut down on scamming. Something that was pretty rampant (at times) in GW1. Considering the number of things that share the same icon image in this game, it would be an even bigger nightmare here.

Yes, some people are going to jump on this as point out that you should pay attention to what’s being traded, and I don’t disagree. However, that’s not going to stop the support tickets about being scammed from rolling in adding more to their workload.

Only idiots got scammed. Just sayin.

Travis the Terrible.4739

Actually, they’re making changes based on what fans have been asking for (such as permanent LS content and no time limits for achievements). And many of the players asking are Guild Wars 1 players. Logically then, they are adding the stuff that is being asked about by Guild Wars 1 players. However, there is nothing any place in Guild Wars 1 like Dry Top. Nothing at all.

There is – I went back and looked around the Maguuma Jungle when LS2 was introduced. It does look similar. Since GW1, did not have jump and did not have up and down, that is why it feels different.

Maybe aesthetically. Dry Top has been there for some time, it would make sense that it’s still around. The dragons may have altered the landscape but they didn’t just completely redefine it.

However that’s still pretty far off from the same design – especially when you look at the core gameplay (such as combat).

It is 250 years in the future – with the Elder Dragons rising – things probably would change – look at Ascalon…..

Ascalon seems to be on the road to recovery – minus the obvious influence of Kralkatorrak’s corruption.

It wasn’t always a smoldering wasteland, that was just post-Searing. I guess I am a bit surprised though that after 250 years it wouldn’t be as green and lush as pre-Searing Ascalon.

If you’re approaching it as a topic of, say, geographical location – I think that is more of an issue with oversight and just a complete redesign of a landscape than any actual changes that happened lore-wise.

Some speculation on why the lush fields aren’t back.

You gotta keep in mind when the humans pushed the charr back to claim ascalon, they erected a wall to keep them out. So the land was somewhat left to grow as the charr are a militaristic race and with testing and moving those large war machines it’s going to have some effect to the land. So a lot of the lush fields from pre-searing may have come back, and were simply just eroded away due to that as well. Also the charr were laying siege to ebonhawke for what 240~ (not exactly sure how many) years before the treaty was signed. Eventually many charr began to think the stronghold wasn’t worth the effort and a lot of them gave up on the siege. After the treaty was signed they probably dismantled their siege at ebonhawke and moved it to Black Citadel or Blood Citadel.

Also the Ash, Blood, and Iron legions are still at war (if you wan to call it a war) with the Flame legion as well. So that comes into effect as well.

You should move. Some servers have such a low population that anet should merge then. My server for example, Ehmry Bay, is always last in the wvw matches and should be merged with the other 2 lowest wvw ranked servers, i should have used that free transfer anet offered before wvw season 2 and moved to Northern Shiverpeaks or another middle ranked server.

Henge of Denravi had that hype train and people on that server we’re sayin “oh yeah we’re goin to t2.” Soon as wvw season 2 ended that server has crashed and burned and is just a joke. If you plan to stay on that server go for it but transfering servers just for wvw seasons is just a joke.

If youre running 2 warriors in a group having a PS build that has EA is gonna be more beneficial to the rest of the team than running 2 pure dps based builds. Especially if you are running with out an ele for might stacks. If youre running 1 warrior just bring a banner or 2 and run a pure dps build.

If you have an ele who knows how to might stack correctly running a PS warrior is kind of a wasted slot. Warrior support pretty much is banners and the PS build.

Pink dagger + more fairylike things?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Travis the Terrible.4739

Well i would enjoy for Anomaly to cut down on the lighting when i store it and only light up when i pull it out, but maybe that is just me

There are some “fairy like” weapons and backpacks.
- You got the backpack of lyssa, which was introduced right before the S2 of the living story.
- Several plush backpacks
- lots of plush “helmets”
- etc.

sue there is not really a cutesy dagger as far as i am aware right now, aside from the black lion valentines dagger (or whatever its name was), so there is that

Also, lots of the “pink glowy” weapons are just reused assets from the Mesmer illusions, which are made available to the people through the mystic forge.
However since none of them is using daggers, you are out of luck unfortunatly….

Yes let us use a recipe item that was dropped by RNG and costs astromical gold when you can find another skin that is far cheaper and looks decent.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral beat me to it. I (and I’m sure others) had the suggestion to make the temple defend events harder and more likely to fail each time they occur. At some point defending them will be impossible even with a maxed out population on the map. Basically design them in such a way that they will eventually fail no matter what.

I have been trying to hunt traits there and have spent hours running around gathering and doing other things in hopes of the pre-events starting but they never do.

Im fairly certain defending the temple of lyssa unlocks that trait. Same with the others i could be wrong though.

Travis the Terrible.4739

Unless I’ve missed something they haven’t even said this is going to be added, so I don’t see how anyone could possibly know what would be required.

We could guess. For example it would be for making ascended accessories, so it would require the ascended crafting materials. Maybe Crystalline Ore and Ingots (which as far as I know aren’t in-game yet).

But that’s all it is, a guess.

It is pretty much implied if not confirmed by the one ascended Crafting material that is still not in the game. actually, 3 of them. Crystalline Ore for instance.

Crystaline ore and ingot which are probably the jewels and the xunlai electrum ingot which is probably silver, gold and platinum. This is of course just speculation. At some point they pretty much have to release it because you can’t gain certain stat combinations from drops/fractals/laurel vendor (magi’s comes to mind as one that has no ascended equivalent for rings, accessories, amulet, but backpack is obtainable through the means of crafting/mystic toilet).

yeah, no idea why build diversity isnt something in focus to be honest. Considering how long it has been now since they added Armor and Weapons and there still is no way of obtaining the same stat combination on rings such as Assassins and Sentinels(or whatever they renamed it to).

The whole “play the way you want” only works if you have every stat combination available for EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF GEAR which anet I guess failed to realize it.

I really feel like if you truly want to do speed runs and expect the most out of your party, you should find or make an organised guild full of active players that are experienced and can help you do that instead of expecting random players to be of the utmost quality and skill just to appease you. I find it far more frustrating when you join a party and run a dungeon with some smug elitist that constantly whines at the party for not being good enough or doing even the tiniest little thing wrong.

I hear there is a guild that is looking for quality players who know how to do dungeons.

"Do what now?" or "Why I'm not good at this game"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

So basically you want people to learn basic game mechanics and that wearing clerics gear is bad?

imokaywiththis

The fact so many people call clerics bad is not so much because the concept of healing is bad. Its that healing power just scales so horribly with the majority of heals in this game. Something that should be fixed but the balance issues brought about make that very difficult. That and they don’t want to create the “holy trinity”

Name one instance in the entire game where clerics gear is to go to gear choice.
YOU CAN’T

For general purpose pve zerkers is the preferred choice.
For structure bosses soldiers.
For wvw purposes zerker, soldiers, and knights are generally run the majority of the time.

It’s not just healing power scaling is bad, it’s that active defense in this game (dodging, blocks, side stepping etc etc) is your main defense. Clerics gear never will be a “meta” set regardless of what you’re doing. Unless you want to run a tanky healer in wvw and drop water fields than it won’t be useful for anything other than that.

Tequatl Turret Operators. You asked for one, well there it is. However this is not the main topic of this thread. Stat differences and arguments are well suited to other threads.

Yet another instance where other gear would serve the same purpose and do it just as effectively or better. :P But still

People just need to learn to play is the real issue. I mean if I can party with 4 other people wearing gear combos like giver’s and magis and other stat sets that aren’t considered “good” and clear all the games content regardless does it really matter? No, but could that 15 minute dungeon run take less time in different gear? Probably

When I’m running dungeons I don’t ask the pugs to do anything special other than “don’t be bad

Fractals is a bit different I want people who have the proper AR which really isn’t that much to ask and I’m sure everyone does this (guildie exemptions are made in the 10-19 bracket because the AR ticks won’t kill you but leave you low).
