Fought a warrior in WvW the other day. Had him dead to rights and he just vanished. I thought at first he had used Ash Legion Spy Kit, but I see that’s not usable in WvW. Not sure if he used Alt-F4 or hacks.
The OP asked for worst encounter. It’s sometimes annoying when thieves and mesmers use profession mechanics to get-out-of-jail free, but that’s how those professions are intended to be played. Someone who does that kind of thing is just a bad sport, and that’s the worst.
He may have left the mists, dc’d, or a rune that stealths you when you get low (forget what its called).
Id much prefer a more customizable UI like in gw1. They went backwards in some aspects like the ui and being able to buy multiple of things from a merchant (like being able to buy 250 of one item without 250 clicks.
2 handed axe would be nice.
There won’t be any new weapon types for this expansion. Will warriors be able to use any other weapons already released? Probably not none of the others make any sense.
Torch, dagger, shortbow, and pistol? It has to be one of those. Warriors can already use a rifle why not pistol? They use longbow so shortbow would be another no brainer. Daggers cause MORE SHARP POINTY OBJECTS!
And torch cause more offhands gogo.
At some point in the past certain ingredients became so super abundant, and under used, they dropped in price so far they practically became vendor trash.
arenanet introduced a bunch of new recipes for popular foodbuffs that would take an approximate metric ton of these kind of ingredients. If I recall correctly a lot were added around the time we were still chasing after the Molten alliance.
Ever since new ingredients are often completely overused in recipes out of fear the ingredients might not be valuable enough. It leads to some Minecraftian scenario’s where a person scarfs down a whole crate of food like it’s an After Eight.
Eatin more mutton than a 13th century barbarian.
Honestly anet cant “balance” the trading post thats like trying to predict where the next accident on i-10 is going to happen (for those of you who dont know i10 runs from florida to california).
Too bad, i just got excited to not have to grind AC and CoE anymore for sentinel trinkets.
You’ll make faster progress using the PvP dungeon reward tracks. The reward tracks give you dungeon skins as well as tokens. Just a suggestion, in case you tire of those paths and need a change of pace.
The fastest way is technically to do all the paths once a day then do pvp. Especially in ac where it only takes 30 mins to finish with average pugs.
The whole trait unlocking thing means new players just use whatever ones they have unlocked rather then ones they should be using. It’s an absolute mess and needs re-evaluating.
Colin has posted in the Traits thread that due to HoT being released they can be a bit more open in the thread. And that the unlocking of Traits will be made much more simpler to match the type of things you would do to unlock the masteries. So Trait acquisition will be adjusted at least one more time.
From what I have read on that is that theyre getting rid of it and putting it into the specilization part of the class. Not sure how thats gonna work with the 13th trait in each tree for every class but reve.
Short answer no.
Long answer same as above. It is a set that doesnt specialize in anything but does everything well.
@ OP
Not moving =/= AFK
Not moving = Not contributing
This. When I’m at tequatle with a ranger I don’t have to move because lol1500rangetequatlcansuckit.
Thieves, they either catch me alt-tabbed to change songs, or constantly “reset” with stealth which is just pure annoyance. Warrior not being able to follow thieves other than rifle burst and 3 (channels).
Also meditation guards are super annoying and unkillable in a 1v1 on a warrior unless they’re just terrible.
ye so lame that we get free content to keep us going in between expansions instead of waiting ~2 years without getting anything.
/sarcasm
Now take that same mentality and apply it to your favorite tv show. Why should a network give you the final season for free? It should go direct to DVD on a per episode basis for $20 a pop! Best way to milk your loyal fans.
You can’t use the same analogy. The TV show was free to begin with. GW2 had to be purchased.
Now visiting your DVD analogy: You can record your show and watch it free forever, or you can choose to purchase the DVD and get some extra content that comes along with the show.
Short way. You pay cable company, cable company pays studios to make content/air old content.
Nothing you see on tv is free.
I would very much like to know if we’ll be able to customize and decorate our guildhalls, much like housing in Wildstar, or is everyone gonna be stuck with same generic looking hall?
It would totally rock if it was the first case and each guild could make it’s own, original themed hall.
Doubtful they will change the way they work. In gw1 you get to pick between 4-5 diff guildhall skins (at a price), So they are highly likely to do the same in GW2. My guess they will be like EoTM areas. Desert skin, Jungle theme skin, Ice and Fire related themes also. And you’ll be likely to be able to change the skin of your guild hall for gold coin and guild influence.
In future they again are highly likely to offer diff guildhall themes on top of the ones they will offer. But they will likely be on offer in gemstore only otherwise you stick to the reg themes/skins.
In gw1 (just proph) there were 8 halls to begin with granted 3 of them played/looked very identical, nightfall and factions brought 4 more guild halls with each giving a total of 16.
Taking his advice is like putting your foot underneath a snake and hoping it wont bite you.
The sheer amount of people who cant see the sarcasm in this thread is to dang high.
Seriously this thread is pure gold. Now given ANets track record of releasing classes in expansions you can bet this class will be overpowered.
I have a 160 slot inventory and the only time I ever run out of space is when I run dungeons without merching between them and thats a lot of runs.
Seems like it just passively rewards more braindead passive builds, although I’d be fine with adding it in PvE.
Ahem… Celestial amulet? Yes, passive AI is the only bane of PvP.
It’d be neat if there was a sigil that granted fury and might to companions (i.e. phantasms) when you successfully land an interrupt or something, though.
Unless it grants fury for 60 seconds and 25 stacks of might, that’s another vendor trash superior sigil.
Mesmers more have “standard” sigil choices (much like everyone), with a few extra options depending on build and/or weapon choices.
Standard being “Force”, “Accuracy”, “Night”? …accept that 40% of our damage is locked in phantasms which do not benefit from those sigils.
Nothing really for Phants, but phant damage is built in and is already very strong.
Yeah, phantasm builds are meta for PvP… not.
And phantasms hit for 24k on a single skill use… not. What about engies? Turrets?
Warriors?
Eles?Trooper, Trapper, Ranger, Radiance runes are viable only on certain classes (disregarding the mini exploit).
What about runes of resistance that only works off of signets for the t6. Aka useless to engies.

Ask for another way to see it other than when it comes up.
Complain when they add it because you dont like where its placed.
Most ungrateful community ever.
A good solution to this would be to make WvW map completion separate from Tyria’s map completion, and split the two Gifts of Exploration between them. Give WvW map completion it’s own special icon too.
That way, PvE’rs wouldn’t have to play a mode they don’t like, and WvW’rs wouldn’t have to trudge through Tyria for a Gift of Exploration if they don’t like that.
But of course, ArenaNet won’t even bother with that.
Except you need the gift of battle for legendaries which is only sold in.. wait for it…. WvW for badges.
That is a great Idea!
I really liked the way you had to obtain the rank of the different culutres in EotN, fighting for them, gaining some kind of “recognition” among the Asura, Norn and whatsoever, until you were worthy of wearing their armor.
The “prestige armors” in gw2 (t3 Cultural) cost about 10 bucks. There is no prestige, and no need to farm materials and money to get them. In GW1 you had to bring the right materials to the armor smith to claim your piece of prestige. And the armorsmiths in Propecies were far off, Marhans Grotto and whatever that other place’s name that I can’t remember right now is, places that were kinda hard to reach… Some of the prestige armors in factions were only obtainable in the end credits for the last mission.
Why isn’t this a thing?
Why are the merchants for the dungeons in Lion’s Arch, instead of standing somewhere in their respective dungeons? Why are the three cultural armor vendors right in the middle of their cities? Wouldn’t it be more fun to have a little challange to get to them? So, I say yes to all kinds of new racial armor, I say yes to all kinds of new order armor, I say yes to new pact armor, I say yes to more armor that you obtain like you get Carapace and Lumi armor, all this stuff that acutally means “I did something to get this piece of equipment!” and not just “yeah I bought 800 gems and traded them in for the gold I needed to buy this awesome armor. Instantly.”
To be fair, elite armor really wasnt that costly to people who logged lots of time or actually played. Every 1 of my characters in gw1 had 2 or more sets (my mesmer had 8 alone). Especially late in the games life “prestige” armor really just wasnt that. It was easy HoM points. I mean i bought a FoW set for my rit with money I got from selling z-keys just for the HoM points.
Honestly I’m all for new armor but claiming something to be prestigous is just silly especially if all it requires is buying crap off the trading post and talking to an npc.
150 or so. I’d say maybe 15 to 20 talk. As for actually people logging in often id say about 35.
I say just play multiple professions! I got a warrior, guardian, ranger, and necromancer all at 80, and they are all fun to play.
I think GW 2 is the type of game you don’t want to focus too much on 1 profession, at least IMO.
This +1.
Playing one profession for too long just seems to get you into a rut. I started with a Mesmer, switched to a Necro, and now I’m playing a warrior (and enjoying it immensely).
Additionally, there’s a heavy cost involved with shaking up your build (in time or gold), so switching feels less viable the more you invest in your toon. Which also contributes to feeling bored. Unfortunately, I tried to change up my Mesmer build, but it really backfired (along with using up quite a bit of resources), and now I don’t want to play him at all.
Playing mainly 1 character since release I can honestly say that I honestly spend most of my time sitting in town. I just dont like they playstyle of a lot of classes.
They really kittened the class badly this time.
Damage is so low that my ele with no armor pretty much beats my warrior’s DPS lol. Absolutely pathetic.
Anyways, I feel inclined to correct you on something – warriors were trashy at GW2’s release but they vastly improved them later on.
Ever since spring 2014, however, they have been absolutely nuking warriors to the point where there’s really no reason to play them anymore. Warriors are in a critically poor state atm.
I would partialy agree with you on this,
Warrior indeed got vastly improved when it comes to surviability with the buff of healing signet and the additional condition immunity and removal options.
But on the other hand some weapons like Sword/Mh and Rifle got drasticaly changed to the point we lost build synergies, skills versatility and builds diversity with some of those changes.
For every steps A-net makes forward, they also make 2 backwards…
Except with rifle skill changes they made the weapon be a better power based weapon which is what it always was to begin with. If anything they took 2 steps forward on that approach.
It never made sense for a power based weapon for the auto attack to make the target bleed.
The Bleeds were there to improve your damage with Attack of Opportunity since Crack Shot wasn’t an adept talent yet, and since the Arms tree was about precision and condition damage you were at least getting some benefits out of those stats no matter what you did. Fierce Shot does indeed extra 20% damage over Bleeding Shot, but the bleed alone exceed that amount of power damage. So it was a nerf.
The Rifle had a condition build variant, I personnaly used the 4/6/0/0/4, which requiered Power/Precision/Condition Damage. And it could sustain over 4K Dps Unbuffed and still burst down your target with the mix of power attacks, bleeds and confusion from Distracting Strike. And it used to be a perfect switch option with Sword/Mh + Shield. The versatility of Savage Leap allowed you to get in or out of combats and with Quick Hands you could just switch between weapons whenever you needed to reapply a Cripple.
All those options are not viable anymore, and the change to Fierce Shot actualy reduces your DPS unless you are fighting a boss with max bleeding stacks.
So yes, A-net improved the Rifle in the latest patch for power users, but previously they also nerfed the rifle and completely destroyed a viable alternate build. Which sucks…
Except longbow was always the better weapon of the 2 ranged except in range. The versatility of it far outweighed the better burst and pitiful bleeds that rifle gave. If anything I’d still say longbow is the superior ranged weapon for warrior. PvP or PvE the versatility of it just makes it so much better.
Honestly the only saving grace to rifle would be its burst damage then swapping back to your melee weapon. I havent looked at the sustained dps numbers for either weapon as of late, but im fairly certain longbow is better. Granted this isnt about longbow but still.
Didnt anet raise the level on some skills on how they scale with healing power and people still said lolnotworth.
Honestly fgs 4 was nerfed because killing “difficult” monsters in 5 seconds by pushing them into a wall or pulling them to a corner was bad. Now it takes 8.
If anything the change to how fgs 4, dagger fire 3 and staff 4 worked was to bring ele damage down a tad in pve. They still do massive damage anyway.
Its honestly fine.
“It’s fine because I do not care” is not the same as “well-designed for everyone”.
You’re all making a big deal about something that was implemented because the playerbase asked for. Now youre complaining on how they did it. Its not like they wrecked the window for it like they did with the trait window update. And yes i prefered the old trait window and im not alone.
Its honestly fine. Its not like the change to the trait window.
Making a big deal out of cocoa puffs when you asked for cocoa krispies.
That doesnt fix the underlying issue of how conditions stack. Thats literally putting a bandaid on something that has had its stomach cut open.
They really kittened the class badly this time.

Also, at Jade Maw, no matter what you do, the pet will be a nuisance and make it longer by being an additional target for the ray. This is basically the encounter in the game that would single handedly justify a perma-stow option.
Not really, just swap your pet when it is targeted and the maw will change targets.
Or go into the corner with a cryatal afk and stow pet while the rest of the team does the dirty work.
The UI was only concept art. ArenaNet does not support any third party systems, so unless ANET themselves change the UI, we won’t be seeing any modifications available. That being said, the thread should be within the first five pages of this sub forum.
They’ve said any modifications that do not give an advantage to the player using them are fine.
I don’t get it. What is the point of phalanx over banner regen or shout healing? That trait actually needs to be changed.
Because regen banners and healing shouts are more or less only used to carry bad groups. PS effectively does the same thing but boosting the damage making the run faster.
Besides if you kill something in 10 seconds with PS and it takes 15 with banner regen or shout heal. Youre slowing the run down. In that case GTFO my party.
Given ANets track of releasing classes in expansions, the class will be stupidly broken op. Assassin? OP. Rit? Found its place. Derv? Yeah lolbrokenasallhell. Paragon? The countless nerfs.
If ANet learned anything from their experiences in gw1 they’ll actually make the class somewhere in the mid ground of strong and weak.
You can buy gems with in game gold thats why.
Didn’t knew stances had cast times (they don’t).
The defiant stance (healing skill) is the only stance with a cast time.
Decisive play comes from the player/experience not the build. If you make a decision dont chicken out half way through.
blonde hair, short skirt, eternity, the title dungeonmaster and you will be a PvE hero, everyone remembers
10/10
Go to a personal banker and just play around with the wardrobe and find a combination you like. Not everyone likes the same stuff…
Only time I want a certain class to fill certain things is so minimal its pointless. I’m more than likely to kick you from my group for running a build that does no damage, being dead 99% of the time, or if I don’t like you.
I’ve done alot of fractals and dungeons with all different sorts of team comp. I can honestly say if you have competant players team comp really doesn’t matter. Ive had problems taking certain guildies into coe and not had a problem in arah or aetherpath with different ones.
Over 4k hours over half logged on my warrior. I’d say about 1/3rd of my time has been spent afk in town or just being an la map chat troll.
People run dungeons for purposes other than money? Thats more or less the only reason i run them. I just use the tokens to buy weapons and throw them into the forge.
Strange, the fact that the game is too solo friendly is the reason gw2 isn’t as good as it could be in my opinion. The only things that require a group of players are world bosses(lulz), dungeons, fotm and guild missions. The rest of the game can be solo’d and its painfully easy. I miss the days of gw1 with missions that required a group of people to progress further into the game. Not to mention the glory of uw/fow, but I’m getting off topic. If they made the game any more solo friendly the game will begin to die. (imo)
Only back in the days of proph only were real people required to do missions because henchmen were horribad. Nightfall just made things far more dumbed down with builds like sabway and discord spam. You can run around with 7 heroes now. You dont even need to bother with henchman unless you only have like 3 heroes. If you think gw1 wasnt solo friendly in its current form you’re wrong.
Speaking from a pve point of view.
Didnt some dev at one point say if a new profession was gonna come out it would be a heavy class? There are 3 classes for the other 2 equipment weights why not for heavy?
GW2 is built on older DX version (9 or 10). The fact that MS will release a newer version wont affect this game at all.
Gw2 runs on dx9. GW2 runs on a heavily modified gw1 engine.
Rangers go from the family tool kit in gw1 to being the butt of jokes. Honestly the biggest downside to rangers is the pet itself. The ai is awful, the effects are minimal help or great help (cleansing condis or interrupting met shower that is 4/5 through the channel).
The only viable build in gw1 with a pet was bunny thumpers and that saw various forms but that was more about overwhelming the other team with the sheer numbers (ultimate anti tab target), knockdowns and conditions (disease, poison, deep wound). Granted gw2 is not gw1 but anet needs to realize that pets need to be optional.
Some waypoints are rather redundant (the top left of snowden drifts comes to mind with 3 right in the same corner).
People just now realizing that legendarys look like crap? The greatswords look like panitbrushes…
Anything higher than a +10 will take a while to sell, and are often rather pointless.
Customizable ui is all that matters. They went backwards with this in gw2 compared to gw1. And yes i am still complaining about this.
Basically the long and short of it is… Guild Wars 2 is much better than Final Fantasy online. But equally Anet could learn a few things from NCSoft.
The End
Anet is owned by ncsoft….
Fractal skins need to be able to be bought with pristine relics imo. Honestly anyone who is above level 30 in fractals has more rings than they do inventory space. Because all I do with the pristines I get is double click for 15 more regular relics.
Then you find out its just the next living story arc.
