Don’t rely on conditions to do your damage. The condition “meta” has been around for ages and people have figured out how to deal with it. Move along to pure damage builds and after a while you can go back to your condi builds.

One of the main complaints for warrior is that heal sig is to strong. Next its going to be that they remove conditions to easily because of cleansing ire.

I disagree as my point still stands- the two Greatsword specific traits will not receive a nerf whereas the two Axe specific traits will both be affected by the change.

For the record I am a GS/Axe+Mace Warrior myself and only trait 15 into Discipline for the weapon swap minor trait. Overall damage WITHIN A PARTY is increased by taking Attack of Opportunity as opposed to traiting further into Discipline but this fact is neither here nor there.

Again taking into account, sharpened axes HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. Seriously get this through your head. Where the trait sits will effect axe warriors no more than a pure greatsword build with destruction of the empowered. Both are 20 point traits. The crit damage nerf is an indirect nerf to EVERY SINGLE TRAIT IN THE DISCIPLINE LINE.

If you’re 20 points into discipline no matter what weapon axe, greatsword, hammer, bow, rifle, mace, or sword YOU’LL LOSE 2% CRIT DAMAGE. It’s not a nerf to axes IT’S A DIRECT NERF TO CRIT DAMAGE OVER EVERY WEAPON. Taking this trait into account is meaningless for this because it effects all weapons that spec into this tree NOT JUST AXES.

Now granted only players with main hand axe in 1 weapon slot will take this trait but there are other traits of “equal” value here as well. This trait is getting a nerf because it’s an axe trait in the discipline tree. Which is indirectly nerfing EVERY weapon that goes into this trait. You might as well say the 20% recharge on signets is being nerfed because you only get 9% for instead of the 10% you get now.

The only axe trait that is getting a direct nerf is axe mastery which is just 10% critical damage. Assuming its a 10% nerf to crit damage it’ll be worth 9% crit damage instead of 10.

Axe warriors will still have the highest crit damage because of the axe mastery trait before and after this change. As for the 2 axe traits being “nerfed” only 1 is getting a direct nerf the other indirect because of the traitline in which it currently sits but every weapon that goes 20 into discipline will be “nerfed.” So counting is pointless for the argument.

Axes will be fine they are and will still be the highest achievable critical damage of the warrior weapons.

This argument is comparing oranges to a truck.

Really wish people would read before replying -.-

Sharpened Axes is in the Discipline trait line which gives passive bonuses to Burst recharge and CRITICAL DAMAGE. As for overall damage reduction this is besides the point. My original post is to bring attention to the fact that Greatsword builds in PvE are already the ‘must-use’ build for damage and nerfing Axe builds more than GS builds will do little to change that fact.

AGAIN! That trait line change will not just effect axe warriors IT WILL EFFECT ALL WARRIORS. Counting this trait is completely useless. Besides if you want the most out of your dps in pve on a warrior you should be axe/mace with a greatsword in your off set to swap to for100blades, whriling blade, blade trail, and rush then swap back to axe for autoing because axe auto is faster and overall does more damage over time than greatsword will. Go test this in heart of the mists. Maybe you should “really wish for” yourself to read that again before replying.

2% crit damage change from that trait line at 20 discipline effects not just axe warriors who are that far into the traitline BUT EVERY WARRIOR who is in that trait line. The only change that effects axes directly here is the 1% crit damage (assuming 10% crit damage nerf across everything) you’ll lose from axe mastery. Counting sharpened axes in the discipline trait line is arguably dumb considering the fact that another trait that is used quite commonly is destruction of the empowered for the same trait cost.

Axes lose 1% crit damage but yet will still have the highest achievable crit damage among warrior weapons. 20 points into discipline for greatsword with the destruction of the empowered trait vs axe with 20 into discipline for sharpened axes will lose the same amount of crit damage here. So again COUNTING THIS TRAIT IS POINTLESS FOR THIS DEBATE.

Comparisons with any real world items are inherently flawed. Any infinite tool you have is de facto worthless (i.e. it has no monetary value) from the moment you pressed the purchase button.

Was using mine as an example. Needless to say though you don’t screw over the existing people who have/are supporting you already which they’ve kind of done here.

Axe build:
1) Sharpened Axes – a reduction in damage due to it being in the Discipline trait line.
2) Axe Mastery – a reduction in damage due to the trait itself.
3) The equipment nerf- Crit Damage reduction in general.

Greatsword build:
1) Slashing Power – no reduction in damage post-patch
2) Forceful Greatsword – no reduction in damage.
3) The equipment nerf- Crit Damage reduction in general.

Sharpened axes grants no extra damage be it critical or +% it’s just 20% recharge on axe skills and +2 adrenaline on a crit (seriously why is this here?) the discipline trait line for it will get nerfed so including this trait in your numbers here is just silly. Nerfing all berserker warrior builds (seriously they do spec into this trait line as well). Axe mastery is +10% critical damage so if it gets changed you lose 1% crit damage from it.

Now if you’re keeping track here, that’s 3% crit nerf on your axe traits assuming you only went 20 into discipline. THATS 3% FROM TRAITS. 2% from a traitline that people will lose as well not just you.

Assuming it’s a static 10% across gear and traits alike at 100% crit damage you’ll be down to 90% critical damage. 1% critical damage change to axes from their traits compared to other weapons for warrior which have no other traits that grant additional crit damage to weapons (seriously go look). This change doesn’t effect axes much more than other weapon available to the warrior now.

Now the change from crit damage to making it ferocity leaves doors open to make it a main stat on items like they said in the livestream so we might have better options in the future.

((Shrug)) Its meant to be rare. Mjolnir and Infinite Light say ‘hi’.

As a player who made mjolnir recently the hardest (not exactly hard but expensive) was getting the 350 lodestones I needed for it. I completed mine in roughly a week and a half by buying and upgrading the cores (cheaper by roughly 40s~ per lodestone) and lots and lots of dungeons, world bosses, and a night or 2 grinding out the champ train.

So getting 250 giants eyes in a week is completely doable if there is supply there to do it.

The morally “right” thing to do for this would just be to either

  1. Remove the chance for sprockets on it
  2. Add chance for sprockets to every other high tier mining pick (ori, bone and molten)
  3. Offer everyone who has bone and molten picks to turn in (like they did with soulbound ones) to get the new 1

After all my molten alliance pick (granted I bought mine when it was 800 gems) which is the same cost now compared to the new pick. It’s literally the same thing just a different look but with a granted bonus to it for the same value.

Look at it this way. You’re buying a truck (a) for xx dollars. Then you see truck (b) for the same cost but with no motor. Which truck would you buy then? You’d by the one with the motor. Needless to say watchwork pick is a giant kick in the teeth to players who bought molten and bone picks for 1k gems a piece only to have a slightly better pick thrown out there a few months later.

The crit change doesn’t effect axes more than any other weapon.

If you were running a zerk build your crit damage will be reduced by ~10%. They’re not changing power or precision just crit damage and how it scales.

You’ll have more crit damage in lower level areas but less in 80 areas.

From the time shield bash hits to the time chop lands is less than a second. Probably faster if the warrior was using frenzy. That’s less than a second to even hit the stun breaker key. Pointless argument to argue.

Double chop isn’t counted because by that time my thief would be in down state.

You’re telling me you have the reflexes of a grandma then? You didn’t think to use shadow refuge and stealth to run away when you saw 2 people? If you can’t activate a stun breaker with a second window of time and dodge then I’d tell you to go to PvE but then again you’d never end up in my groups anyway cause I don’t pug thieves 99% of the time.

You were hit at the same time by Lightning Strike, Static Shot and Fire Something. Therefore it wasn’t only a warrior but at least a Warrior, Elementalist, and an Engineer.
Considering the way you scrolled your chat window up, I assume there were a lot more. You were probably up in the middle of a zerg. Try harder next time.

Actually. Hardly. It was just a roaming Warrior and Engineer. Whilst dodging the Engi’s grenade spam.

The lightning strike you see on the combat log is me hitting the warrior the moment he popped his endure pain before he took out my entire health pool in less than a second.

My health pool is less than 15k (not a glass thief). The warrior did 3.1k, 10.5k and 1.8k. You do the maths. Again. Over 15k damage done in less than a second.

To top it all off. Eviscerate is auto seeking.

So you’re crying about warriors? The first problem here is you got wrecked by a warrior with axe/shield from the looks of it and you ate 2 skills that have very obvious animations from the warrior. I’m going to assume you wasted both your dodges on the engie nades?

Shield bash is 1/2 a second activation. Eviscerate 3/4 activation. Chop 1/4, double chop 1/2. That sir is by my count 2 seconds. Game working as intended carry a stun breaker or don’t waste your dodges on meaningless nades.

Also dagger/pistol with thieves guild? No stunbreaker? The hell am I looking at it?

Yaks Bend is populated. I do appreciate the condescending remarks. I expect that from ‘elite berserker’ players, my post was to Anet, not the Elite Berserkers, you guys are always a blast. (oops misspelled guys just a fopaux )

This is because content that requires 40+ people on teamspeak is not something that belongs in open world content. It’s basically more or less the time and effort to organize for event the rewards aren’t enough for people (I play on yaks as well) can be spent elsewhere on easier stuff in a shorter time and do more of it.

It’s basically the time and effort for say Famme to explain what to do to all the random people who do the boss train at resets (not so much lately cause of living story content) is spent doing other events that can be done more easily and more quickly leading to more time spent doing other things to gain money/karma.

It’s more or less why do Arah for an exotic set of zerk armor that you plan to transmute on to say you’re t3 cultural when CoF and CoE can be done much more quickly with much less organization for the same rewards basically.

In shorts many of the players on yaks think that tequatl is a giant waste of time and energy to organize for the rewards.

Best thing you can do – the second you see a gold seller in ANY chat, right click their name and select Report from the drop down. To be honest I’ve only ever been whispered by a gold seller once, and I very rarely see them in map chat (even in LA), so I am wondering if there are specific servers that are targeted?

If a warrior ran healing surge with a plentiful amount of healing power, I don’t think it would be so unbalanced for the surge to heal the warrior a tremondous amount for their investment.

The numbers can be tweaked, but I still want Healing Surge to be the prime Burst Heal for warriors.

Maybe separating the healing into 2 parts. A base heal and a part based off of adrenaline. Sort of like Consume Conditions (a necro heal). Consume has its base heal which has its own modifier and healing for each condition with its own modifier attached. Having a mass amount of healing power would still grant you massive quantities of health and would still function the same but helps to balance out power with healing power builds.

I actually like your ideas. But if they were to buff the healing on surge again by 25% across the board it would make you heal for almost 3/4 of your entire health (assuming no poison).

I’m going to assume you don’t know that Healing Surge has a healing power modifier attached to each level.

1 at 1 bar
1.25 at 2 bars
1.5 at 3 bars

Now with this is in mind buffing surges healing prowess isn’t the way to go tbh. I do like your idea for it giving a pulsing adrenaline every few seconds but giving it an additional 25% across the board isn’t the right way to give it that extra umphh.

As for a whole you’ve given great reasoning to this. As someone who has played warrior since launch and onward I actually agree with you almost entirely across the board. +1 sir. Maybe this should be forwarded to the guys in the balance department at ANet.

General:
Lyssa cooldown increased from 45 to 60sec (this is somewhat a nerf but also for other classes like thief, with this nerf many warrior dont have to get signet master trait and get something else..)

Implying people are taking the signet trait for the sole reason alone of this rune is just wrong. 5 stacks of might, swiftness and fury for 30 seconds? Instead of a 30 second down time with the trait it only has 18 second down time (19 if you want to count activation time as well). Seriously even if they were to nerf lyssa runes 6th effect by 10 seconds (it has a 50 second cooldown not 45) it still wouldn’t change the fact that people are going to use Signet of Rage with the trait.

If people were going to switch to a trait if this change were to happen they would just be laughed at because the other traits for the same points are just kinda ignorable or trash except for maybe the 25% movespeed with a melee weapon.

Any good hammer builds for PvE? :)

in Warrior

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

Hammer can be used on leveling and after reaching lvl80 mostly in fractals.

When something is done with NPCs which in that time deals more dmg than players then you need cc which is from hammer. CC for keeping NPCs alive so they can deal the damage. For example the ascalonian fracs map.

The only time that is even useful is when you just stun the trash mobs getting to the boss for it and thats to just slow the mobs damage so you dont die instantaneously.

Hammer is only good for 1 thing in PvE it’s burst skill to stun 5 things. Other than that it’s useless as a DPS weapon in PvE as the foes don’t dodge every little thing.

I tried to use a hammer for a warrior in PvE for the longest time and it’s just not a viable weapon no matter what the build. It will always be shown up by the other weapons regardless in terms of raw damage except for maybe sword but even then I think the bleeding damage will make it shine over in terms of just damage.

Even the gem shop stuff is just ugly, IMO. I buy gems like mad but I’ve only ever purchased one light armor set for my necro.

I really feel that introducing new armors every few months would really up player enjoyment in the game, and also sell more gems for ANet as people use more transmuttaion crystals. Win for all. Sometimes it seems they have maybe one person working on armor and he/she ran out of ideas before launch. And this is obviously not the same person who does the loading screen art.

Except if they do introduce new armor skins they’ll be in the gemstore (they act as just skins and you just apply to another item) thus making transmutation crystals useless unless you plan to transmute it multiple times.

Crafting is the only realistic way to get the armor and weapons you want (stat wise).

*IMHO the real problem is that hammer traits lay on the same line that gives toughness and condi cleanse.

Put the hammer traits somewhere else and things will go differently.*

Yeahh doing that is just going to make hammer stronger because you can then take HAMMER TRAITS WITH DEFENSIVE TRAITS. Where they are now you have to pick between hammer or defensive major traits.

Complaining about the effort getting to ascended armor instead of making it will not do anything for you.

I so desire a New Heavy Armor Melee class

My thoughts…

Medium health, lowest base toughness of the heavy armor classes,

Wanna touch on this. Every class has the same base stats (power, precision, vitality and toughness). This is of course excluding their base hp pool and armor ratings.

Order’s armors are only rare quality as well. Also a change in your play style is going to keep you alive more than your armor will. You’re using Soldiers armor stats which give you quite a bit of extra survivability while not sacrificing power in the process.

I’d suggest if you like the armor style to do Sorrows Embrace, Honor of the Waves and Ascalon Catacombs for the same stats but exotic quality and transmute it. It may help but not as much you’ll think it does.

I think that fire field is the only field warriors have.

Plenty of finishers.

Yep only fire fields which is burst on longbow. Unless there are runes that grant fields (I don’t think there are).
