When you’ve got 15 of them and don’t really care it’s a good way to get ecto.

We also have had the same problem- Guild Puzzle gave 0 merits.
Completed twice: yet 0 merits awarded.

Guild missions have been known to be buggy. My guild has done puzzles with more than enough people and gotten 0 merits on numerous occasions. Same with several rushes and challenges.

If someone from your guild does a rush from another guild while repping yours and finishes it will not reward anyone in your guild with commendations. My guild has sent around 1 or 2 people to the end of other guilds rush and kicking people from the guild if we aren’t going to do the rush on that guilds timer (generally it’s most of the time unless another guild just started) so everyone in the guild gets commendations for completing.

Guild missions are buggy and we have posted numerous times of these bugs and anet has refused to fix or do anything about it. I mean go look at the rest of the bug forum and look at the explosion of them that have appeared since tuesday. Most of the bugs regarding missions aren’t even new because of the mega-server. Its getting quite silly.

Last 20 items salvaged yielded 19 ectos. Longest run of no ectos was 4 items.

Le sigh this guys good luck has ruined the game for me.

I’ve gotten 45 ecto from 20 rares and gone 30 items without one.

Seems to be working.

Guild did missions on saturday with I believe roughly over 50 people

Bounty – Guild does tier 2 bounty because we don’t really need the merits and to spread people out across the 3 targets so everyone gets credit. Didn’t run into a problem here other than several other guilds also looking for the same bounty at roughly the same time.

Challenge- Didn’t run into an issue with it yet.

Puzzle – Seeing how there is only 3 guild puzzles this is where we faced an issue. We got separated in 2 maps. It took us 5 minutes to taxi everyone to the same map. By the time we finished getting everyone there another guild just started their puzzle. Granted we went along with them even though we out numbered them and didn’t try to highjack their puzzle.

Rush – We didn’t have to bring others in from a different map but another fairly large guild (dyak) was doing it the same time we were. Not much of a problem considering it made getting most of everyone through rather easier for both guilds. But considering the map we did it on wasn’t a megaserver. I can see future problems with this.

In GW2 even a max height norn wouldn’t look that big compared to a small human.

Well my female human ele is as short as possible and female norn as tall as possible are twice her size roughly. Soooooooooooooooo there is difference.

Warrior quick death after rally

The third ability in your downed state is “Vengeance”, which revives you to full health with a slight damage increase for a few seconds before killing you. You have a chance to clear Vengeance when you kill something but it is unreliable unless you get the 20 discipline trait that causes it to trigger all the time.

If you’re not hitting Vengeance and this is happening, I’ve experienced in the past insta-dying after reviving but only when returning to waypoints after death. Never on an actual rally.

The insta-dying thing has happened to me but only when I would use vengeance and die before the timer on it wore off and would WP before it ended and would wp and die 2/3 seconds after wping.

The way to measure a players ability? Actually playing with them. People with over 15k points are what I call “achievement whores”

ap’s =/= skill. I’ve partied with people who have over 15k AP’s who were just flat out awful, I’ve partied with people who have 2k AP’s and are better than 3/4 of my guild.

Needless to say find people who you want to play with and play the game with them. It will make partying less dreadful and much more fun.

Dropped 500 rare Great swords in the toilet the other morning (with a rough crafting cost of 210g), my return was around 50g of exo’s.

Dropped 100g of rare short bows four weeks ago and got ‘The Lover’.

Quite enjoy the gamble myself, although I’d never waste all my gold on the MF its just a bit of fun once in a while. I tend to have X amount of gold put away to have a gamble each month, and I always save my T5 mats and craft the rare’s (only a few gold cheaper).

If your trying this for a pre its not worth it. You can easily acclimate the money for a pre within four weeks (hours of play dependant) of casual play via dungeon play.

Precursors are now 700g so 4 weeks of continuous daily play 700/28=25g per day from dungeons. GL with that if you dont have a fixed grind party and have to rely on PUGs.

I can make well over 25g in a days worth of play. 15g from dungeons with pug groups that will take me an hour and a half roughly then 10g from just random item drops, selling miscellaneous crap. 25g a day is relatively easy to attain if you actually care to do it.

Better Stat After 15th Patch

in Warrior

Travis the Terrible.4739

Not true at all. The Assassin mix is so minorly better than full Berserker atm that even just the slightest nerf to critical damage would make Power > Precision. But it’s not even the slighest nerf, I believe it’s been calculated to be about 25-30%.

If you are talking personal DPS sure you are absolutely correct.

However if we are talking with Banner of STR and 25 stack of might precision is still more DPS right up until about 98-99% crit chance.

Basically, power you can makeup from buffs, precision is not as easy to make up. The difference is pretty negligible sure, but it still holds true.

I do just fine in my full zerk gear (all zojjas). The difference between full and a mix of zerk/assassins is so minimal it’s not even worth even bothering with. Basically it’s like drinking your 40th beer of the day compared to the 41st.

If it takes you a week to get 100 gold in gw2 you’re either playing 1/2 hours a day and afking half of that time or you’re not doing anything besides sitting in town.

I just sold the leftover materials from making my 2nd set of ascended armor for my warrior/materials I gathered for over 80 gold just yesterday. If I can make roughly 15g a day while actually playing (not sitting in town) in a matter of an hour and a half you’re doing it wrong. You can get 3g a day from ac 1/3 and that takes you 15/20 minutes depending on your group.

The problem with mats isn’t that they don’t drop fast enough it’s that gold is easier to farm than the materials. Farm gold not materials people. Any mats you get towards whatever you’re working for are just extra.

ac1/3 coe 1-3 cof1 gives you roughly 11 gold for an hour of your time with a good group(s).

Those are the ones I do on a regular basis and know pretty much everything about. Any item drops are just a bonus. I make 10 gold a day (average) by playing the game if I’m not interested in making/buying anything and half the time I’m online I’m sitting afk in town. If I’m interested in buying/making something I can farm upwards of 40/50 gold in a matter of a days worth of play.

Players say there’s not much progression after level 30.

ArenaNet pushes traits back 20 levels.

Be careful what you wish for.

Except there wasn’t other than trait points.

Also I expect a lot people to complain about this new trait change/system being pushed to lvl30 making the lower level players in their level appropiate zones easier targets for the mobs (granted trash mobs die in 1-3 hits to a lvl80 in zerk gear).

This is one of the reasons why I think they removed repair costs to be honest.

How to push "weak" builds closer to the meta?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

That’s the point. If the meta wasn’t just pure damage, those builds wouldn’t have to be terribad.

Except that meta isn’t pure damage. It’s as much damage as you can pack with enough support and utility which is exactly the same as what you can observe in other typical mmos.

People just wants to deal more damage than they currently do while running faceroll builds that cannot even die. How much sense does it make?

BUT THE META IS PURE DAMAGE. It’s more so how much might/vulnerability can you stack in the process of killing crap. Why else do warriors run FGJ, banners of strength/discipline, on your mark in dungeons? Or when soloing in open world signet of might and fury with FGJ or a stability skill? Hell I find myself being a lazy warrior in open world content with 5 signets and only ever using signet of rage for the 30 seconds of fury, might and swiftness and just autoing everything to death. Hell the only time I ever even use more than 3 skills on my warrior is when I’m in dungeons or soloing events/champs. Most of the time I don’t even dodge from trash mobs I just run through them and slap em 2/3 times and they fall over.

No matter how much passive defense you run the one hit KO’s still KO regardless of armor/hp (an ele in zerker gear getting 1 shot by the same thing that 1 shot a warrior in soldiers gear). The only thing that will make weak builds “closer” to the strong builds is to nerf the strong builds and buff the weak ones. They’re nerfing crit damage to help “bring other builds” up to zerker builds but anet has even said that berserker will still be the best damage even after that change. “These other builds” that are being spoke of are -

A- support based builds which aren’t meant to do damage but either buff/heal the party

or

B- condition based builds which are lack luster in group situations (because of minor traits that inflict conditions such as bleeding) and even when soloing it takes a while for them to get going compared to a zerker.

or

C- a “tank” based build to take a bunch of abuse. The problem here? Everyone has a dodge key. Use it and learn when to use it.

Speaking from a pve perspective solely.

No Holy Trinity = Boring?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

Problem with gw2 isn’t the lack of trinity it’s the stale gameplay bosses being able to one hit ko you regardless of gear making the tanky stats (toughness/vitality) less than ideal in pve. The same to be said about healing power which offers no offensive capability what so ever other than to keep you alive (which you’ll probably only ever need to use a heal skill against trash mobs while soloing). The obvious traits being superior in pretty much 99.999999% of situations. The sad state of affairs of sPvP of some classes being higher on a rung that’s not reachable on other classes (looking at eles and rangers compared to a warrior right now) because of the trait issues and pet issues (pets are pretty terrible and more often than not they die to aoe/splash damage and deal little to no damage). Then there is the issue of condition based builds being well let’s face it horrid for pve compared to pure raw damage.

The problems with gw2 can be solved by more rapid balance changes. Not saying to go all out and make major changes every month but small number changes here and there. Small changes can shift a meta harder than a flat out massive patch can. The warrior being total trash in pvp at release (other than the flavor of the month crap) caused me to pretty much give up spvp. Even as a warrior player I feel the change to crit damage will just make healing signet even stronger than it is now. So yeah….

Does GW2 follows the standarts?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Travis the Terrible.4739

Travis the Terrible.4739

Also we could just as easily pick points to reverse that list. For example:

1) GW1 is a trinity game.
Yes it was. It wasn’t your typical tank n spank either when they fixed mob AI.

2) You have to play PvE to be able to play PvP. You can create a PvP only character who starts at level 20 but you had to unlock the skills (and runes, insignias and weapon upgrades, ranger pets etc.) through PvE or (shock, horror) buy them from the in-game store.
You could buy your pvp runes, insignias weapon upgrades and etc with balthazar faction which you earn from kills, wins and what not from PvP. Not to mention the ability to unlock different pets was added so late in the game it’s well pointless to bring it up (the default ranger pet for a pvp char is/was a hearty wolf). At one point all the default PvP builds were set to what I think the winners of the GWFC (guild wars faction championship) wanted them to be and they were arguably the best pre-set builds in the game (the ones now are horrid) because they were part of the “meta” hell even with all the skills that came out since nightfall/eotn I’d say half of the bars would still work to this day. Shock axe is still being played in gw1 pvp believe it or not.

3) It has traditional progression mechanics. You have to complete at least part of one area to unlock the next and complete most of the game to unlock the elite ‘end game’ areas.
Most of the “elite end game” content was unlocked by basically finishing the story mode missions which took you maybe a few hours if you rushed straight through them (timed myself one day took me 8 hours to rush through factions while going to nightfall to cap searing flames and a few heroes and beat factions on a brand new character)

4) It has a lot of grindy titles (Luxon/Kurzick, Eye of the North allegiances, lucky/unlucky, wisdom etc.) which give you tangible benefits like better skills and better chance of retaining salvaged upgrades. Some, like lucky/unlucky could take years to complete.
luxon/kurzick -grindy, eotn titles – grindy to an extent, lucky/wisdom titles could just be bought with gold if you had enough of it.

5) Loot is randomly assigned to a party member, if a party wants to distribute it fairly they need to design their own ‘need roll’ system like in traditional MMOs.
Heroes and henchman basically made this pointless and no one partied with each other because of them, outside of speed runs. Not to mention this “loot” you speak of was more or less being traded to gain money. Randomly assigned worked well imo.

My thoughts from a person who played gw1 for ages till gw2 came out.

I don’t like TP flipping at all. Those guys do nothing but buying and selling stuff and yet get the most gold out of it, while people who play the game how it’s meant to be played earn less and less gold. Ofcourse, you could argue that making profit out of the TP requires some sort of skill. But I think those guys ruining enough in real life, they don’t have to ruin my game-experience too.

If you have the funds for it you can jack the prices up on whatever you want. A few guys did it on copper ore because they spent a little of their jillions of gold. (it was around like 25c then the next morning it was 1.25s).

The market fluctuates as well if you make a bad investment you can get out of it for little to no cost if you play it smart. I mean just look at dyes in regards to the change of how they will work here shortly. Even the dyes you’ve gotten multiple times across your characters (we’ll use a generic color such as “blue” for this) Blue dye has gone up from 2s to 40s. Playing the market involves more than just going OH THIS IS NICE LOOKING IT’LL GO UP, it involves a bit of reading whats coming out in updates.

Not sure if you saw the immediate direction of silver/gold/plat went when it was speculated that jeweler 500 was coming out a few months ago (it never did) but people were buying silver/gold/platinum in high quantities at way over average market price.

Barring random RNG the easiest way to get 50g per hour is to just go charge 500 dollars to your credit card and buy gems and then convert said gems to gold.

remove stacking from this game and u force more varied gameplay and allow build diversity again

How does removing stacking force more varied gameplay? Still doesn’t stop the fact that even if mobs are spread out zerk armor is going to kill them faster than condi builds.

To describe how this equals out to. Would you rather have a brand new truck or a truck from 1950 that’s been blown up to a billion pieces? Point is zerk armor regardless if mobs are stacked or spread out is not going to stop things from dying faster than with pure zerk armor over condis.

Build diversity is more of an issue in PvE than it is in sPvP.

Except you could inflict cold/water, fire, lighting/air, earth, piercing, blunt, slashing, chaos, dark, holy and shadow. As far as I know all damage types (other than conditions) in this game are considered to be just damage and not count as different types so having mobs weak to certain things would basically make them have to do another major overhaul to the game.

Also I’m pretty sure certain mobs are already immune to certain conditions. Dredge being immune to blind is one of them.

Will "Berserker" be viable post patch?

It’ll still be the best damage output all they’re trying to do is bring other builds into viability by nerfing crit damage instead of addressing the issue of conditions being underpowered in PvE.

What ^he said. It’ll take us hitting rock bottom in PvP again to stop all this whining entirely.

If un-equipping them is going to remove the stacks then I guess it’s time I finally got rid of my bloodlust stacking weapon.

It’s because runes are very difficult to get and expensive as hell.

You must be playing with people who are super poor or don’t want to pay a 10 gold for them 25% move speed runes.

As a person who has read all 3. The 1st and 2nd are the only ones worth reading.

They don’t really “bridge” between gw1 and gw2. More along the lines of telling you where the claw of khan-ur is, how glint died, and why lions arch (prior to scarlet attack) was a giant pirate town craphole.

As for the quality of them there are better books out there but it’s not twilight level.

The third book bored me so bad it took me 3 months to read it and it’s not even a long book where the first 2 took me a few days.
