Personal score does not factor into Leagues at all, only team score.

Can you give any word whether or not you’re going to be bringing back solo Q? You made the game free to play so anyone that wants to just pvp for example will be able to experience just that. However I personally don’t think that they are going to stay long once they figure out that premade groups will always have the advantage as opposed to solo players without the option of solo Q.

TLDR: If you don’t add a solo q option the new players will see themselves out just as fast as they welcomed themselves into your game.

You’re all missing the point, the whole thing that makes pu strong is the convenience and the over abundance of stealth. Which means stealth overall as a mechanic “not necessarily the duration” needs to be changed. I’ll probably make a video discussing my ideas probably on Monday, and post it on the pvp forums.

Make Moa Unblockable

Hey, I was playing some solo queues and was facing these chronomancers. I found it interesting that 2 of them could moa nearly my entire team and end the midfight immediately.

Since a chronomancer can turn back time on their skills and moa again it seems like there is not supposed to be counterplay for moa. It is because of this, that I hope the game embraces it and decides to also make moa unblockable, and while they are at it, make it undodgable and uninvulnable.

Bumping this thread because I feel as if Signet of Ether could use a look at adding passive healing with zero illusions. As it ticks every three seconds, I don’t see it being a huge issue and the healing is relatively low but something is better than nothing.

At least give Ether Feast a run for its money.

The last thing Signet of Ether needs is to dumb it down to the levels of passive warrior healing signet that require you to do nothing for the effect. Atleast mesmer signet has some type of barrier of entry via illusions to get the desired passive healing. If anything any signet heal that has passive healing needs to be removed, and compensated in some way to encourage more active play. I mean It’s not like you don’t get a phantasm reset or anything regardless…

Why are the Elemenatlists running vamp runes? I guess for the same reason they ran 4 Ele’s. They were trying to make a point during the tournies.

I think it was rather ironic, though: The comps with more people playing Elementalist ultimately lost. Elementalist is very strong right now in multiple aspects, but it seems like diversity is winning out here in the end. It’s very interesting to see and watch for sure.

I wouldn’t really go that far, I haven’t been following the eu esl too closely, but I don’t think that 4 or 5 ele team has been playing as that comp for too long. I could only imagine what would happen if they have. Regardless I don’t wanna wait around to find out.

Also, I don’t believe in banning classes, builds, runes, sigils or any sort of restriction in a tournament setting to help create “balance”. The moment ArenaNet does that is the day I leave the game.

That is a slippery slope. If people don’t want to multi class and their only viable build in the meta is considered too strong they will be screwed.

So yeah… I don’t agree with you on that point.

Fact: IF vamp runes get nerfed, Thieves will be dead. There will be nothing to prevent them from immediately dying to organized burst.

I think you’re kinda missing the point. The point is that your rune set and sigils should enhance your build, not determine whether or not it’s viable. Too many people are falling back on runes of vamp as a crutch, which boils down to bad balance. The only thing I’m suggesting is that they get rid of the crutch atleast until A-net can eventually balance things out with classes, the mechanic of stealth in general, comp stacking etc.

Diamond Skin is a terribly designed trait, it is a fine example of the sort of thing a game should not have.

Agreed, a good fix for it would be to reduce the duration of all incoming conditions by 50% instead of its current implementation. And furthermore, this thread shouldn’t even exist. These forums are have dwindled down to what I like to call “politics”. Even if you spew out garbage from your mouth, people will eventually see you as correct if you keep repeating yourself.

Diamond skin is a great example of a hard counter, something that shouldn’t exist, screws with balance, build diversity, and overall just brings the game down as a whole.

Condi mesmer is viable, however if you run scepter you pretty much in a skirmishing build, and are not very useful anywhere outside of a 1v1 scenario. However there are variations of condition mesmer that don’t get carried by pu and vamp runes that are more than viable imo.

I almost convinced that anyone who speaks out against 2v2 and 3v3 at this point are either A-net employees, or paid by them to keep the negative attention off the terrible game mode known as stronghold. Stronghold….. where the objectives can be ignored and you can still win the game based off kills because of overall poor design.

The only thing that makes me laugh at this point, is the “Having a new game mode will split the player base” arguments are gone because everyone knows stronghold is coming. But what makes it worse is that if the game mode flops, A-net instead of viewing it as a failure because nobody will play it, will refuse to make another game mode that is more reliable, takes less people, and is overall more fun to play, easier to shoutcast, and easier to maintain, aka 3v3 deathmatch. But instead they will refuse to accept that their unique little snowflake of a game mode is failing, and will continue to pour resources into a dying game mode while the rest of the small community will either leave, or continue playing conquest.

TLDR: Stronghold is poorly designed, you can ignore the game mechanics and win, and it wont work in a competitive setting. 3v3 takes less people, less time, less resources to make, and is overall easier to watch, easier to shoutcast, less time between games, etc. If I wanted to break down doors, I wouldn’t do it in a video game. TLDR is a lie.

The Priority List — Fix in this order

1- Bugs – Nobody can anticipate the huge impact fixing bugs will have on the game. This should have the biggest priority above everything else.

2- Class Stacking – This should probably be a thing regardless of bugs, balance etc. Because if there ever is imbalances in the game when it comes to a certain class, this rule in tournaments can soften the effect of taking a unbalanced mechanic that a profession in question has and prevent it from being compounded by bringing more than 1.

3- General Balance and Improvement- Obviously after you have fixed the bugs, and addressed class stacking, then you can start to “balance” the game.

TLDR: People already know stuff needs to be fixed and balanced, I’m just saying the order in which you’re doing it needs to be addressed.

Based off what I’m seeing, I’m pretty convinced they have a program that rng changes something at random with every patch, but what’s ironic is that the change ends up being better than what’s intended. Give it a few weeks like the bugged mantra change, they’ll rip out any hope you had in them prior, if you had any to begin with.

With Duelists Discipline I reported this trait to a dev personally on patch day, and nothing has been done to fix it yet. Any idea on when this is going to be fixed?

Also with compounding power It doesn’t seem to affect the condition damage based off the illusions you have on the field. Someone please double check this for me. Nor does it update your condition damage or power in your equipment tab. I reported this bug on the 16th of this month to the same dev. But I don’t really expect for this to be changed in two weeks because I’m pretty pessimistic at this point when it comes to fixing bugs in a reasonable amount of time.

Yes I understand that the bug with mantra was unintended, however for the first time in quite a while we saw mantra mesmer come back into the game. But I don’t feel that fixing mantra back to it’s original state was what was needed. Changing confounding suggestions in some way might have been the answer, but instead your decision was to complete gut it to the unbalanced mechanic known as mantra.

The way mantra is “supposed” to be, you are technically punished for waiting for the right opportunity to burst, the longer you wait, the longer your cooldowns on mantra is going to be because your timer doesn’t start till all of your charges are gone. Personally I felt that mantra in its current form was cheese BUT I felt the mechanic was there. With a few changes to perhaps confounding suggestions, or possibly reducing the cooldown by a large margin you could of made it something great. But instead you set the current form of mantra on fire.

TLDR: You made mantra great on sheer chance, and then returned it to the dirt without realizing about the wonderful accident you made.

Edit : My suggestions to fix it would be the following

Power Lock – Recharge increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds

That way you double the time in which mantra of distraction can be used while still maintaining the effectiveness of confounding suggestions. Not to mention you would still get use out of the no illusion shatter diversion & magic bullet for daze into stun on the second target.

Realistic way to nerf Mesmers

1. Phase Retreat is a teleport skill, and because of that, it can be activated while using other skills, just like all other teleport skills in the game. If you want to change it, you will change all these skills: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Teleport

2. If you change that you will have to change all mantras, which negates the puropus of this type of skills: High cast time to have instant sequence skills.

3. Mesmer is the profession with the least amount of unblockable skills, with just 4 and 3 being control based. Eliminating the unblockable part of Mirror Blade would put the mesmer in a clear disadvantage of being the only class without an unblockable damage skill.

4. Mind Stab is more than find as it is. In fact, before it was buffed to actual state it was a useless skill. There was also an official debate in this forum about the changes.

5. Chaos Storm is OK how it is. Staff is all about RNG, autoattack, chaos storm and armor have huge RNG on them.
Making Chaos Storm less RNG would make it way more predictable, and the defition of “Chaos” would be somewhat lost. Also it could become extremely OP with and AoE pulsing daze or a completely useless skill.

6. iCD is not what BD needs. What it needs is to not to proc. when dodging, blocking or evading. The CD of BD is already determinated by shatters. And blinding on illusions is bad as hell, since you cannot determinate their position.
In the point 4 you are willing for less RNG, and here you put the most RNG possible thing on mesmers.

7. IP being baseline is a must. Mesmers are so crippled without it, that to understand it you would need to add trigger chance to attunements swap, no initiative recharge through time, Death Shroud not having a separated health pool, rangers stuck with only 1 uncontrolled pet…
IP is a fundamental thing for this profession. The reason why DE was so important before patch was we needed tons of clones production to make sure we had the tools to make shatters 100% reliable.
Making it choosable again would turn shatter builds obligated to take it, and all others to forget about shatter mechanic.

These changes would put mesmers in a horrible position, going back pre-patch where shatter builds were the only thing good for competitive.

1. no weapon skills should be castable under the effects of CC whatsoever. there is absolutely no excuse for this. thief’s Infiltrator’s Strike was once castable while CC’d, and this was clearly overpowered. there is zero reason why any weapon skill, whether it be Shield of Wrath, Obsidian Flesh, or Phase Retreat, should be usable while under the effects of CC. there are indeed other “teleports” or “shadowsteps” that can’t be used while CC’d or using another ability so you’re wrong.

3. you’re wrong again. in terms of meta builds, mesmer is the only profession to have an unblockable damage dealing attack without having to trait or use utilities to do so. the only other professions that can deal damage through block with just weapon skills are thief and ele, using s/d and s/f respectively. both of which have completely fallen out of popular use.

6. if you want Blinding Dissipation to be balanced as a master level trait, then an ICD is exactly what it needs ALONGSIDE it being fixed to no longer go through evades, blocks, and invulns. without an ICD it needs to be moved to grandmaster and allowed to only go through blocks. it’s that simple. also, Blinding Dissipation only inflicts AoE blind around the mesmer themselves, not their clones/phantasms.

7. this is a very popular self-victimization argument by many mesmer players. mesmers, with or without baseline Illusionary Persona have always gone with power shatter as their meta build. it was the meta build then, and it’s the meta build now. justifying a popular grandmaster trait becoming baseline means that all professions deserve this treatment. by your logic, thief deserves baseline Slight of Hand because we otherwise have always traited for it in our meta builds, the same going for elementalist’s Evasive Arcana, or warrior’s Cleansing Ire.

Responding to your number 6, you make it seem like adept, master, and grandmaster traits have meaning in their placement. After the patch the only value it holds is merely what traits it has to compete with in each tier. You could move all the grand master traits and swap them out with the adepts and it will make no difference because once you pick one core specialization, you’re focred to go all the way down the line. Once they fix blinding dissipation to not go through evades the trait will be fine.

TLDR: Stop over complicating things as an excuse to suggest unwarranted nerfs.

Realistic way to nerf Mesmers

Because that Ele thread was surprisingly enlightening, disregarding the OP of the thread and listening to the more realistic inputs of others.

Mesmers are fine where they’re at… Just add some form of counterplay against them.

  • Have them unstealth immediately when they use any skills or abilitied
    “but mantras would be useless -snip-” no, it would be fair.
  • When they Shatter, make clones walk 15% slower.
  • Their F3 shouldn’t instantly remove Stability on targets. 4 shatter Daze hits should count as 1 stability stack removal.

Otherwise, keep your 7k burst dmgs in Stealth, keep your stunlocks, keep your stealthy durations. I just want to be able to outplay you… let there be more skill involved for Mesmers please.

The release has been out for 4 hours. It’s a little early to tell.

Yet. Maimed gets knee-jerk nerfed so hard that they didn’t even bother to consider if that was the right change to make. Could’ve (and likely should’ve) lowered duration instead.

I agree, I’d be willing to compromise with a duration decrease of maim by say 20%? That’s if they were to give the 2 stacks back. Other wise simply nerfing maim by 50% is way too harsh. Maim having 2 stacks gave the opportunity of condition spike granted you land your shatters. In any ideal situation the possibility of getting yourself and three illusions out to have a full burst is rare. On top of worrying about everything to negate it, dodge, condi clear, etc. This change was not needed.

As of right now, confusion is our strongest and pretty much only source of condition damage applications if the enemy attacks, confusion simply by itself is too little in terms of a condition build when a enemy can simply run away with little to no punishment while he waits for the duration to expire, or simply clear it. With the 2 stacks of torment there was atleast the possibility of condi spike if we land a successful shatter. Even then there is dodge, aegis, and all sorts of things to worry about that balances it out.

I honestly don’t even see the problem with mtg compared to the respected buffs of other classes. Engi condition builds are insane, mesmer mantra got a bigger ninja buff than I could have ever possibly imagined, and on top of that you literally ninja removed confounding combatants. Compared to other builds of players I played with and the burst potential they provided it seemed pretty even, but you didn’t even give it a chance.

Please think about it and revert it, give the community a chance to atleast play test it for longer than 6 hours. Ninja nerfing two condition traits in a matter of hours kinda put a damper on all the new excitement towards condition. Esp when you buff power with the passive minor replacing confusing combatants & the mantra changes is also just depressing to think about in comparison. +1 If you agree

Honestly I never liked the sound of confusing combatants, why gut clone death and then implement an equally passive source of even more damaging condition application.
MTD getting gutted seems a bit senseless, even if it wasn’t my fav playstyle.

What you don’t seem to understand about it, is even IF you crit, it’s still a 1/3 chance of a stack of confusion still being applied. It’s not a broken trait.

Wheres the appreciation? Your “Offer” still forces veteran players to pre purchase the expansion despite not knowing most of the information, and despite not even knowing a release date. If you wanted to show your appreciation towards veteran players you wouldn’t have to use a character slot as blackmail in order to get money from your existing player base, and frankly it’s still a shady move in my opinion.

Personally don’t fall for this, esp players who play other aspects other than pvp, if you play all aspects of the game, these are the types of players that could potentially be screwed the most when it comes to being completely uninformed before purchase equating to angry customers.

always nice to add such attachments for populistic like gaining…however like I said before….slow. is probably one of the main reasons why this is going to be the way it’s going to be…what is someone going to do with chill and slow on him/her? ofc there will also be resistance…but I doubt were getting 10 seconds of resistance or even more….ever had 18 seconds of chill? anyone….. ps. isn’t the mesmer being freed from almost having to go for traveler’s rune like it is now

The whole point is that this falls on a balancing issue. It’s the developers job to try and make it to where cripple, chill, and slow doesn’t get out of control, but not at the cost of viability. Good positioning and condition clear are there for a reason, and if they feel that those things aren’t enough, then it is their responsibility to change it to where it’s fun and balanced play, not to take the easy way out and simply streamline those conditions. That pretty much throwing in the towel because they either don’t have the resources, or not enough time to make it right, so instead they made their job easier. I hope for everyone’s sake they reconsider. However the rest of that article seemed pretty awesome, so thumbs up.

Currently as of right now, Signet of illusions resets your shatters, so what happens when you hit continuum split, signet of illusions, and then continuum split again? Does it literally just start over again, or will you make it to where it extends the time perhaps of you being in Continuum split before reverting back? Thanks in advance

What I’ve gathered from reading this

1) Talking about the leaderboards as a source of your skill suggests that you probably shouldn’t post on the forums for your own good, ever again.

2)The Op has a point, just because your build isn’t revolved around shatter doesn’t mean you’re 2nd tier. I’ve given meta build mesmer’s & other classes cancer so fast that they don’t even have time to get chemo, it does have its downfalls however. However my build/creation is getting erased and replaced by a different cancer come expansion so this is irrelevant.

3) Both condi shatter and power shatter are getting buffed in the expansion, so therefore this thread will become irrelevant as well soon enough. Since they are trying to nudge towards shatter only builds, which as fine as long as there are options for both styles of play, aka power and condi.
