If this update preview doesn’t get you slightly tingly inside, you just might be dead.

No new game modes, ladders are a decent start. This patch seems more quality of life features which was long needed sure. Personally until this game comes out with either a bunch of new abilities, or a smaller pvp game type variant, I’ll probably save my hard drive space.

Teams Streaming During A Tournament

So while waiting for a patch in a game I decide to check out the guild wars 2 page on twitch to see if there is anything going on, and guild wars 2 actually had more than 300 viewers so I went to check it out. Just so happens that there is a tournament being hosted, and what’s this…..a player is actually in the tournament is actually streaming during the tournament?

Most of the tournaments is hosted by “in this thread well call this person Mr. B” Mr B. Mr B. doesn’t allow streamers “or maybe Mr B changed his ways because he realized how arrogant his ways are, and how big his ego was” to stream while he his hosting a tournament because he wanted the views, and doing so would “hurt the potential for esports”. However the player that we won’t name that was streaming had more views than the actual tournament itself. What does this tell us?

- That the playerbase is potentially as interested if not more interested in the actual strats and live feed from the players point of view and live communication on the actual team rather than the shoutcasters opinions and point of view. Which is nothing against the shoutcasters, some people just like choices.

- That restricting streamers to broadcast during a tournament is not hurting the overall scene. It’s hurting someone’s ego if the players get more viewers than the person hosting the tournament, but they are still helping the game as a whole by getting attention to the game. The medium in which is broadcasted in most cases is irrelevant.

TLDR: Don’t restrict who can stream, regardless if there is a tournament involved. If you cared about the game you wouldn’t let your ego get in the way of it.

  • More Community Tournament and Team Support: This one is plain and simple. People need to watch and support tournaments as well as teams if they attempt to grow themselves beyond the game. I understand and to some degree agree why people don’t watch some of the qualifiers for ToL/G/etc as well as the weeklies because they, generally speaking, are stomps nine times out of ten. It is important however for people to tune into these streams regardless because it helps collect interest from third parties which could breathe some serious life into the scene. Now hopefully this issue will solve itself once the last bullet point about tournament structure is solved and we have regular matches that aren’t stomps, but up until that point community grown or run events need as much support as can be garnered. The same goes for teams that try to grow themselves via social media, twitch streams, etc.

Those are just my thoughts, lemme know yours.

TL;DR: Create an Ameture Scene, Add Ladders, Increase Low-Mid Tier Support, Support tournaments and teams.

I’m just going to respond according to section.

Balance- The game will never be anything as long as the game still supports things that give you passive abilities that are stronger than ones you actually have to manage and have the ability to be countered, aka healing signet.

Tournament Structuring – There is no “ameteur” or “pro” teams in this game, saying that would require everyone on a team to actually have a level head. 90% of team making “atleast in na” has been composed of backstabbing, trash talking, and false rumors to get themselves to be viewed as the more valued player when it comes to the competition. There is a reason why the Na scene cannot keep stable teams for longer than a couple months at a time in extreme cases, It’s because the ego surrounding players in the game is so high that players are willing to break apart even good teams if it means not risking their persona in a online video game.

Additional Low-Mid Support – This for me ties into ladders, and having more game modes. You have literally said in the past that “in your opinion” that having more game modes would split the player base. I honestly believe you would rather let the game die…actually the game is pretty much gone, let me rephrase. I believe you would rather let the game go into a worse comatose state than actually be wrong “god forbid, we don’t want that” about this certain topic. And when it comes to a “competitive” scene, this game is truly dead. The denial just doesn’t hit some people as fast as others more than likely because those people are emotionally invested.

The only ones who believe this game is fine the way it is are the left over remains of players shouting esports every sentence waiting for some miracle to happen. Bring new game modes and ladders for each mode. Not only will it give the existing player base of 10 people something new to do while they sit in their 20 minute que, but it will actually bring new people into the game. Making that 20 minute que a more exciting 10 minute que….. Kappa

More Community Tournament and Team Support – This topic is a no go for several reasons.

1- Every shoutcaster I’ve seen try to cover this game either do one of the following, or all of them. I’ll be nice and not disclose names this time.

-Talks too fast
-Skips small scale fights
-Rambling
-Miss big plays on map, ex- lord rush without noticing
etc
-Favoritism between players they know in game related to exposure time on stream.

However, this isn’t “entirely” the shout casters fault. This is partially the blame of the devs for poor map design, a 5v5 conquest mode in which the large scale mid fight cluster kitten is unavoidable, and other factors.

In short the majority of people don’t watch because there is nothing to be missed by tuning in. It’s just a uninformative, unbearable, unwatchable 5v5 conquest. Again smaller scale game modes including death match would be a good start, but hey, what do I know, right?

I figured I would take my time with my response since I’m currently updating a patch in Archeage. Hope you enjoyed it.

  2. pretty sure this will never get implemented. If it did, they would have actual metrics to prove nobody kittening likes skyhammer, and then they would run out of excuses to not remove it—but still keep it in the game.

That sounds great. There is very little strategy now when making a group because everyone just switches whenever they want. It would also reward smarter teams for coming up with a counter meta comp.

I think at least utilities and weapons can be changed but not traits, runes, sigils and ammis. Would prevent 5 lich comps from being rampant but at the same time prevent people from completely changing how there class plays (d/d->staff, hambow->axe, bunker guard->DPS and so on)

2—Solo Que & Team Que Map vote system

I think this would be terrible for team que because people would build a comp for a specific map and move for that map everytime. that means the entire other team would have to agree on the same map to get it to even a tie vote.

It would be great for solo que tho, would remove a lot of the skyhammer and spirit watch ques.

2- Yeah I think you’re right, however for solo q this would be highly valued. They just have to continue to not put terrible maps into the rotation when it comes to team que.

If its possible to counter comp , blame the devs not the players. Hard Counters shouldnt exist in the first place..

Also 2v2 is imbalanced because of supply crate. I havent seen a team without an engi winning a 2v2 Tourny.

When it comes to a engi dropping a crate in 2v2, simply kiting away from the crate would be the answer to that.

I disagree with preventing players from swapping to alts. This promotes players being multi-classers.

In tournaments, it’s banned mid match. But you can swap between rounds. In team queue you don’t know who you’re up against until you’re in match. So if you can’t swap, you can’t simulate a tournament scenario where you’d adjust your team comp on the fly.

You can be a multi class player, just make up your mind and what you want to run with your comp before you que, with what works best.

1 – This would be awesome. Builds and classes should be locked but then necro should start with some life force.

5, How do you mean? People shouldn’t be able to evade (weapon skill) when immobalised. Immobalised stacking should be removed, and getting immobed mid dodge should be fixed.

Regarding number 2- They literally said in another thread that they will never delete skyhammer, so a vote system would be the most logical compromise.

4—Leaderboards that WORK, combined with a smaller scale pvp mode

I know, I know. You’ve told us before that you’re working on leaderboards, and possibly more game modes, but until it happends, I’m going to continue to poke you with a long pointy stick until you present me with said things. A small scale mode combined with leaderboards at work would open up SO MANY THINGS, I’ll give you a few examples, and my example will be with 2v2 deathmatch.

-With conquest, lets just pretend that there are 1000 people that play, with obviously 5 people on each team. 1000/5 people per team is 200 teams. Not a bad amount right?

-With 2v2 deathmatch, with the same 1000 people that play and 2 on teach team, 1000/2 people per team is 500 teams.

500 teams > 200 teams And the best part about it, is that you are making more competitive teams in the game WITHOUT bringing new people in just by making the overall team size smaller, It’s win win. So before I get replies consisting of “If you make a new game mode conquest will die” OR “The player base is too small for another game mode” I’ll just get my sharp pointy stick and tap to the part about more teams with the same playerbase. The numbers don’t lie, the only thing this would do is benefit the game.

Not only would this change bring back lots of competition, however since the ladder would be working, 2v2 could be shoutcasted at any time. The ladder itself would and should eventually be the competition. That way when the authorized shoutcasters could spectate freely and never run out of material to cast, it would literally be infinite. Since the prize is constantly being fought over until the ladder ends, and then a new one would begin shortly after. In which I would assume you would give a hefty prize for placing at the top in the ladder. However this all relies on a new smaller game mode, and a leaderboard in which the community could trust.

5—Dodge while immob— This is just irritating, just fix it please.

6—Templates— Obviously this is more a quality of life feature, but I wouldn’t mind having it

7—Rewards— The only reason in which I’m adding this is because of the amount of just absurd achievements that I recently encountered. Please try to think of something more creative than having me Collect Trash for a achievement, or whatever. No. It’s a waste of space, a waste of time, and frankly more of a headache. If I had to think of a achievement at the top of my head would be getting 5 stomps in a minute, anything that didn’t require you to become a trash compactor and collector in order to receive an item that you probably won’t care about anyways.

In short this game has the potential of becoming something really good, but when it comes to pvp this game is like looking at a ferrari with no engine. A shiny box with a empty void only leaving you angry afterwards. However fear not my friends, if they were to make these changes it would come soon. Sorry I had to say it.

1— Lock classes at signup with team que ONLY—. The purpose of going into a team que, or anything team wise for that matter with a coordinated group of people is because you feel that you can win with the current composition you signed up with. Not going into a team que, seeing that the other team has a class or possibly a certain spec “depending if you know the person” that puts you at a disadvantage. Then therefore a mini game commences before the game starts for the remaining time on the clock in which I like to call “E-bay Character Swap”.

The main objective of E-bay Character Swap is to look at the enemy team, and whatever class they pick you immediately go to the character screen a pick a class that heavily counters theirs. Each team will continue to do this back and fourth, and the team who swaps characters last before the time runs out will be the winner.

The whole purpose of making a team is to make a composition in which you feel will have a advantage over most, not simply switch characters based off what composition you see. This type of nonsense garbage is fine in solo q, but anything that is team based should not have this feature enabled.

2—Solo Que & Team Que Map vote system — This one pretty much explains itself. Like I get it, I understand there are still some scumbags out there that genuinely enjoys skyhammer. However there needs to be a system in place in order for the majority of the people to decide what map THEY want to play, not what map the game randomly picks for them to play.

3—Que time for Hotjoin— I know this sounds crazy, however when it becomes a chore to simply play on the same team with your friend is when you know something is wrong. Like you guys aren’t even promoting team play in hotjoin, you’re encouraging more people to further break the current system in place, spectate to change teams out of combat, leavers, afker’s, etc. If you add a que time, you would get rid of all of that. Punishing those who went afk, leavers, etc.

Why must we elongate everything in gw2. If the balances previews for the classes are up and youve made short clips, why not show them in bigger groups instead of just showing 2. Also ToG ends in October? So we are going to have a ToL2 Repeat yet again? Why must these tournies take so long.

Allow me to clarify. The video for the last two professions is not done. Unless you want to watch Karl in front of a plain green screen, there’s no way we can show it tomorrow. These videos each take ~3 hours to film and another 8+ hours to edit. On some weeks, the video wasn’t even exported until the same morning we showed it on the stream.

We opted to do two at a time so as not to overload both you and Karl in the preview. If you look back to when we did previews live, one of those episodes was almost 2 hours long, and by the end they were trying to speed through in order to keep it from going longer. Both you and we didn’t think it was fair to the people who play those professions that were rushed through, nor was it fair to have to sit through two hours of a stream to see your profession’s changes. We feel that this format provided a better means of communicating these changes. We can now devote the appropriate amount of time to each profession and showcase the changes without having to wait for Karl to change builds and move between locations on the map.

You guys really should just let me edit for you. 3 hours to film and 8+ hours to edit each of them into 20-30 minute segments? That’s overkill in my opinion coming from a editors standpoint.

Personally I have to have my expectations so low that I’m not disappointed in the time frame when it comes to pushing out content concerning pvp “don’t take that personally”. That being said, whenever you do come out with a new game mode consider these suggestions.

Step 1- It doesn’t resemble conquest in any way, shape or form. No standing in circles, please. The community is screaming for diversity, not something so similar that it might as well be irrelevant in a few weeks after release.

Step 2- Give it and conquest a separate ladder that works.

I just would like to say in advance that if the tone or wording I use in this post offends anyone, I do apologize, this is an extremely important issue to me, and I would like to have my chance to retaliate to some of the comments being made today.

So to reply to the phrase in the title, maybe I’m not. That does not, however, mean I lack the commitment or the drive to get myself to that level.

When I first heard about Gamescom I was hype, same as anybody else was because holy kitten we actually have a Guild Wars LAN happening again. I had thought there would be an opportunity for me to shoutcast this event, but unfortunately ArenaNet was unable to accommodate this. I then tried to see if there was anyway I would be able to send myself there, but alas as with any American college student I dont have the 2500 USD or more to send myself to Germany, especially with this little notice.

When this fact finally sunk into me it sucked, and I was mad, not at ArenaNet, because I understand fine that stuff happens, but mad in general that, for the second time now, I wouldn’t be able to go to a Guild Wars event LIVE and meet the people I have worked besides and become friends with over the past two years now. It was then that I was invited as one of the all stars.

At first glance I was surprised too, because again, for the majority of my time in this game I have been a caster, and I haven’t played on an official team in quite some time, but seeing as this was my only chance to go and I have no guarantee there will ever be another GW2 LAN, I took this as an opportunity to better myself.

I am 300% committed to earning my nomination. Quite a few top tier players have already told me that my communication and general team play is good, and that only my mechanical skill needs work. If that means I have to spend 12, 18, or more hours each day playing and getting myself to the level of others on that list, I will do it. There is still over a month between now and Gamescom, and I personally believe that by the time it rolls around, I can be ready. I have no job, this is my job. I run tournaments and cast Guild Wars. That leaves me with all the free time I need to play, practice and improve.

My life for the past two years now has been (as pathetic as this sounds) about 90% Guild Wars and attempting to keep the scene alive, and the opportunity to finally see that evolve into a live event would mean more than the world to me. If you don’t believe I can prepare myself, that’s fine, but if you do, your votes and faith in me would be extremely appreciated.

In there it states that “top players” to go against each other in the tournament, we all know you are indeed not a “top player”. We are well aware that you have invested a lot of time in trying to make the community grow, despite whether it has or not, it does not say we are sending the most “committed” players, it says top players. If it was most committed players I would take a wild guess that ostrich eggs, would probably be on that list almost before anyone else from the amount of time he has spent playing. And I say probably because other people could be more committed than him, he was just the first person that came to mind.

So in short A-net says one thing, and then does another. I’m not really shocked by it at this point from all that has happened with this game in general. Personally I think that there should be a completely different vote that the players decide what casters should host in the tournament, and I don’t think that the vote should be limited to who’s in the official shoutcaster program. Sure it means A-net chose those people to cast, but personally I believe if you left a vote solely to the players, then the people chosen to take the seat for the shoutcast spot would not be limited to who holds a fancy title by A-net. And doing so might get the viewers this game desperately needs. At face value this means a lot.

Personally I think A-net should pay for the expense for whoever shoutcasts their event. To not do so is a cheap move in my opinion.

According to this official news a new Tournament of Legends will begin soon with 128 teams in total (unknown yet how many reserved slots).

What is your first impression regarding this tournament?

-First Impression, too much time invested for little return. Actually I take that time invested back. The competition is so non existent that you could get 5 competent players, practice for a day and have a high success rate to win.

-Will I participate? No, see answer to question 1.

-Do I have a team? No….But I can get 5 randoms and call it a team like everyone else does…

What professions do you think will be most fun in this tournament? 5 Mesmers.

What team do you think will win this tournament and why? The team that will win is one of the 128 “according to you”, obviously.

Instead of keeping scepter 2 the way it is, “which is a terrible idea because you cannot control where the torment goes in a team fight” It might be a better idea to give the block a on screen proc. An example of this being something similar to a icons you would see when you weapon swap to the sigil of doom. Meaning that your next attack would proc the torment if it connects. That way you would actually get to direct the torment at the target of your choosing. At the same time your enemy would have a chance to counter play it because of the on screen proc. Thoughts?

Since the April 15th PvP reward overhaul, PvP has definitely been more active & vibrant.

Despite all of your reminiscing about the old Glory Vendors ‘making the mists feel so alive’, you seem to forget that the old PvP reward system was just absolutely, inexcusably bad.

It’s less agonizingly bad now, it has been much improved. However, the Reward Tracks need to expand to eventually cover some/most/all of the skins that were achievable in PvP before.

Also, it’s not really anybody’s fault but your own if your chests/glory were wasted. Pretty much nobody missed that boat, as it was announced well in advance.

Just like everybody else that’s still here – continue to play the game if you still like it, k? Or don’t.

Nobodies fault that but his that chests/glory were wasted? Try saying that to Kensuda, and he’s on your team..lol. The fact that they didn’t provide a vendor after the patch is inexcusable, and lazy. You shouldn’t have to keep in touch with the forums or the website in general like a daily or weekly paper to not get screwed over. Adding a vendor to spend your glory after the fact wouldn’t have hurt anyone. That’s just ignorance plain and simple.

I support this thread. That being said, I couldn’t express how angry I would be if this actually worked. And trust me I want skyhammer gone. However in my opinion, the sheer ignorance the devs have towards doing anything about this map, despite all the threads, despite all the polls like this one is beyond words.

I remember having a argument with Allie about this, and her defense was “well there are only so many people that check the forums, so the numbers aren’t adequate”. My response to that is the runes of perplexity trying to weasel it’s way into Spvp. The community had just as much of a impact on perplexity runes on the forums as our hatred for skyhammer. So why isn’t there a change? What is it going to take? I don’t even know why I try. kitten it.

I hate to be the negative Nancy here, but are these the same metrics and people who “crunch numbers” that came to the conclusion of the end result of Skyhammer being allowed to stay, and Capricorn being swept under the rug at a moments notice?

Personally, In my humble opinion, I believe that with such a long production time between patches for pvp as we all know, you knew that it would take longer to incorporate the water combat for such a large patch. And you didn’t have the resources to properly test the underwater combat, “not saying you have the proper resources to test any patch to begin with”. But it would take more time, and taking Capricorn out of the equation was a quick and simple small price to pay “budget wise” in order to get things rolling, if ever so slightly faster.

As for skyhammer, well, I personally cannot think of any logical situation as to why it has not been removed. I probably will never believe in your “number crunching” unless I see it for myself. But I’m pretty sure I speak for the entire community when I say that I would rather not play a terrible map, and play a smaller variety of better ones than the former. It comes down to quality not quantity.

Personally I feel that continuing a match after half the team disconnects is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever seen set in a tournament such as this. You might as well encourage teams to hire hackers to d-dos your opponents as each match starts until there is nobody left to face. Nobody outside the game is going to take this seriously with such ridiculous rules currently in place. Personally I enjoy how the casters tried to slide off the dc like it didn’t happen while one team was just face rolling their way to victory while facing half a team. You live and you learn.

Honestly I don’t have as much time to keep up with this stuff as I used to. I thought no new glory would be earned after patch, not that it was disappearing completely. If I had more time to read the development posts I probably would have known, but as it stands I lost like 700k glory that I could use to get skill books for my alts to try the new traits and theory craft for my team.

The funny thing is Kensuda months ago I asked and got a dev response which was the following question, although just adding that your probably not a casual player, “What about people who have alout of glory and don’t spend it? Are you going to comp them in some way for not being on your website and checking in? Or are you going to just give them the shaft?” They responded with something along the lines of, "Well we will give several reminders to tell players to spend their glory before the patch. So technically the answer was no.

If you did not spend your glory you had saved up before the patch, you are out of luck, which is pathetic. There should be a vendor in place, personally it’s crappy management and downright lazy to just delete a currency without a way to spend it AFTER patch. Give us a vendor after patch for christ sake. Don’t pressure the community will spend their glory regardless if they weren’t in the loop. They might have changed their minds as to what they would spend their existing glory on.

Shame on arena net for not giving a glory vendor. Personally you spat in the faces of the veteran players because you were too lazy to implement one after the fact. I understand organization, but this is downright ignorance.

With all this immob stacking going around, and omni-directional skills being nerfed, I think we should be able to turn when immob.

It seems slightly unfair that classes with evade skills can spam away while immob, but classes that rely on uni-directional skills for defense get the shaft.

Bear – I was open to you being a shoutcaster until you badmouthed one of the most active and helpful members of the GW2 PvP community. I also thought that it was strangely coincidental that after I confronted you about it, a known acquaintance of yours published an adorable video also badmouthing that person and praising you.

Do GW2 shoutcasters need improvement? I don’t think anyone is denying that. Even professional shoutcasters that get paid to do what they do need improvement. You have to give them some credit though – GW2 is not easy to read as a spectator, even as a top 100 QP player.

Sorry, but if you truly wanted to “help the community” as you claimed, you could have at least acted like you would be polite to those putting in a real effort to do the same. I won’t deny that your casts were enjoyable, in an aggro-pvper kind of way, which is why I was open to it in the first place.

If ArenaNet decides to bring you into the program, more power to them. I think you would add a lot of flavor to the team, but I do hope that you learn to treat your peers with some respect.

Back on track – I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the well wishes. It’s meant a lot to see the comments, even from those that didn’t always agree with me in this thread. I will sincerely cherish the time I’ve had on the ArenaNet team and with you all.

Tournament Of Legends: Signups and Dates

Thinking ahead, I really do think the number of entrants is a “good problem” to have, but obviously it calls for some sort of contingency plan.

I absolutely agree. The issue of having too many teams has yet to happen in a guild wars 2 tournament, and while its certainly a great thing (that it’s happening), one of the biggest things ill be taking away from this event is how to handle a scenario such as this.

If I could provide any possible suggestion as to select the most deserving teams for the potentially limited seats:

  • At a public, specified time, take a snapshot of individual player’s rating according to the leaderboards.
  • That snapshot would include the player’s Solo Queue and Team Queue rating. The greater one would be chosen.
  • Add each player’s value to ceate a cumulated team value. Assign a new value to every team. Take the top 32, 64, 96, 128, 160, 192 valued teams, or to infinity and beyond, as indicated by the time & resource constraints.

With this method, teams would have a known period and deadline to qualify themselves just simply by playing the game. If your team only intends to PvP for the tournament, (and you PvE/WvW for all of your other gameplay sessions), then accept whatever limitations are imposed. If schedules don’t accommodate Team Queue practice, Solo Queue during free time is a viable way for individual team members to raise the team’s value.

The fact that you’re relying on the leaderboards as a show of skill makes me cry on in the inside chaith. We know it’s broken, you know it’s broken. Just walk away from the idea. If this tournament has any potential of not becoming a kitten storm, then they need to have qualifiers. Simple as that. And if your argument is going to be something around the lines of, “well we can’t have qualifiers because we don’t have the people to manage it.” Then you shouldn’t have even announced a tournament to begin with. If you can’t do it right, then don’t even try.

I'm a bit disturbed over the rank changes

As the forums are well aware, next patch is bringing free dragon to all! That’s all well and cool because the current rank/reward system is a pile of crap. As a player who’s rank 71 now, I’m alright with not being able to show off my finisher and all that jazz. I’m even alright with being rank 80 4x over.

The one thing that’s really been bugging me though is the fact that I am going to be punished for being higher ranked than 55 at this point. It simply boggles my mind.

I hate to be the one to play the victim card, but no matter how you cut it anyone who has spent a second in pvp over rank 55 before they added chests is getting screwed. Those who are super high rank, like myself, are just getting the D even harder.

I mean, I partook in the system you created more than most of your playerbase. In PvE and WvW that means something. But because I’ve PvPd I’m now going to receive less rewards than those who didn’t. Honestly it doesn’t matter too much. It’s more symbolic than anything…

Could I at least get an apology? “Sorry for kittening you for playing our game” would be fine :P

Edit: What I mean is that chests are not going to be retroactive. A player who is currently rank 55 will receive chests all the way up to dragon rank, 35 or 36 according to Evan. Because I am rank 71 I will receive 9 or 10 chests…

Personally I don’t really see what the big deal is about. Finishers to me represents more clutter in a already visually cluttered game. The worm finisher would be a huge example of this. First A-net says that particle effects are affecting the game, but on the flip side they allow worm finishers into the game to visually kitten you during a important fight. So visually it’s going to be worse by this decision. However if you feel that rank 55 and up doesn’t “deserve” this useless add on then too bad I guess?

However I would rather have ladders and new game modes personally than a distraction on my screen, but that’s just me. So what, more people than you get a dragon? You’ll live. Personally I’m shocked that you actually spent the time to get to the rank you are now knowing the state of the rewards system. It’s equivalent to traveling to a destination that you know will be abandoned by the time you get there.

Incoming Lyssa rune NERF!

After watching ready up episode 9 on the official gw2 twitch channel, and I noticed around 53mins in, when they were comparing runes, the lyssa rune’s effect was greatly nerfed from loosing all conditions and gaining all boons for 5seconds, to ‘’convert up to five boons into conditions’’.

This is quite bad, as a S/D thief I don’t have access to the blind field, thus the stability and the protection of the runes helped me cause serious damage to hammer warriors. It also helped me actually survive signet of spite. Now the S/D build might loose whatever viability it had left.

Note: this is an internal version of the feature pack, so this is surely to happen in the public version

The change to Lyssa runes are the best thing to happen in quite some time.

No one will take your comments seriously if they are this broad. You need to be more specific.

1v1: Mesmer is currently the best class for this. I don’t see that changing with the patch. At EQUAL skill levels, the mesmer will win.

Team Fights: Pretty useless. They are good for some burst (depending on their spec), but after the next patch, I’d much rather have an ele handle the AOE burst.

mesmer is probably the only class that cant duel any of the current meta classes on a point (which is the goal in conquest mode)

You are mixing a few things. In a tPvP battle, I seriously doubt you designate the mesmer as your bunker. If you do, then your point about fighting on point is quite valid. Of course that isn’t the value of a mesmer.

Mesmers are similar to thieves in this regard. They are much better at attacking points than defending them. They don’t fight on the point since a bunker would have the advantage there. They jump in and out of the point as needed and generally fight around the point. A mesmer should would those fights against the bunker 1v1 virtually always.

The problem is that those fights are more rare in tPvP and usually there is more of a group fight going on. A mesmer doesn’t really bring much to the fight in those scenarios. I’d much rather have virtually any other class for those fights than a mesmer.

problem is mesmer doesnt have enough sustain in a teamfight and if a mesmer loses most of his duels AND loses the point while dueling it is only useful in 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3
but it’s not always the case that you get a chance to 2vs2 or 3 vs 3 the enemy with a mesmer on your team..sometimes your mesmer decaps a point which you really need and then you are forced into a duel….mesmer needs nothing in particular…the other classes just need nerfs..hard!

Mesmer not having sustain in a team fight? Well that depends on your build. I have plenty of sustain personally. I’m sorry but your narrow minded views doesn’t justify all other classes needing nerfs.

For one, you don’t even know what it’s going to be after patch, so you can stop making it over dramatic. Also the fact that your not specific in the slightest, you wonder why people aren’t taking you seriously in this thread. Mesmer’s at their current state are fine, It’s simply other classes that have way too much on their plate that they don’t even know what to do with. Thief being a good example, initiative is supposed to be a limited resource that must be managed carefully. But it’s the exact opposite.

Also some bugs have alout of weight that people seem to forget as well. Imagine if the z-axis was fixed, that’s a huge buff to any sword main handed Mesmer aka illusionary swap. Next time you might wanna re think what you say before jumping the gun.

The fact that this is even a thing that’s up for discussion is beyond me. The whole reason why SPvP was ever a invitation to begin with was because of the simple fact that once you’re in heart of the mists, you have access to everything. Period. No chance of being disappointed if the class is something different from what you expected, and minimal time is wasted. But now you think it’s a good idea to technically “tax” the new content in which you add to the game and think it’s a type of progression when it comes to SPvP?

Theory crafting builds should be fun, not a chore. Not to mention easy access to switching builds instead of relying on character swaps every time you feel like changing something in your build, god forbid. What you’re doing is going to backfire in the long run in my opinion if this keeps up.
