Yes, we have chosen not to do them. We didn’t have to do them before, and now it is the games fault that our Radiant and Hellfire skins get delayed.
We wont do them now. I can’t understand why anyone would think we would. It will always be our choice what to play here, or elsewhere.

Ah! The chest awarded after every 500 AP earned.
I was hoping there was some other reasons.
So all that running and doing content we wouldn’t have ordinarily done for the badges of honor and fun boxes and stuff, recieved every 50 days if we do our 10 AP a day.
I’m thinking those Zenith weapon skins and the incomplete pieces of hellfire gear are not enough for me to go do what someone else demands day after day.
There’s still plenty to do, when, where and how I choose. Seems like a loss thou..

Bug fixes and a team that can actually balance the classes instead of doing “passes” that accomplish, if anything, the opposite.
Of course I want it fixed but this must be how it was intended, right?
I really like staying back and watching lots of players do all the damage they can do and invariably getting downed and not getting the main chest that shows on the map.
They do the most damage, far and away, and get nothing. And they keep coming back. It’s hard to figure.
I wait till it’s almost dead and then just tag it a few times and get all the loot.

I had checked 2 of those. It looks like it’s basically not trackable in less than one day increments. That might be what is causing the problem.
I suspect it is not giving log in credit accurately because it looks like it’s not tracking events done per character accurately.
Anyone else seeing issues with the log in credit part of influence, in one player guilds?
In a one account guild with numerous characters, how is this awarded?
If I do Tequatyl and then the Svanir Chief, that should be 10 events for 20 influence, right? Ten awards are recieved for completing each of the two event cycles.
If I then log to a different character and look at influence, I see the last character did 2 events for 4 influence. Is this working correctly?
Looked again and see no evidence from the announcement that we will still be able to get the same amount of laurels and mystic coins in a months time as we do now. The comment about throwing in other stuff too, makes me highly suspicious that we wont. Likely be available in the cash shop though.
I see no evidence that the skins and other rewards we received from the current daily achievements levels will be awarded to us or available to us anywhere at all.
It also looks like some of those additional things they are throwing in have ONE USE ONLY. They are not sellable. So if you aren’t going for a legendary the clovers will have no value. At least crafting materials are sellable if your not into crafting.
Aside from being mildly embarrassed to be playing a game they have to pay people to play
(log in incentive) I don’t see it as a significant issue compared to the change to dailies/monthlies.

I totally understand your perspective and wouldn’t want any change to lessen the effort required to achieve the goal you are seeking. I totally get the need for more difficult content and the greater rewards it brings.
I used a monetary example of value but reward can take a number of forms.
If those Living Story rewards were crafting materials usable anywhere else, for example.
It’s all just pixels on a screen anyway, but if a game provides reward, whatever the form, and it does it consistently across all areas of the game, then this Living Story content should have also.
I wouldn’t be surprised if those Mawdrey components become useable as a crafting material for something else in the future. They should.

You want MORE value? I want ANY value. Add more content in the same game area or repeat the content for MORE value. There’s still no value to the living story rewards now.
Nobody is forcing you to buy anything from anyone to complete the MORE value content you seem entitled to.
I enjoyed the Living Story and hope to again. It is now the Dead Story to me because it has no reward. Please read the content of the thread before you comment.

I suspect they could easily make the majority of the story reward items sellable so they would have value and then make the unrelated content required reward unsellable.
That way everyone that wants the scavenger hunt item can do all the unrelated content and those that want to play just the living story actually receive a reward.
I don’t care about Mawdrey at all. I just want the rewards I receive for completing content to have value without being forced into other unrelated content just to make those rewards valuable in any way.
Dispite the fact that they were intended as a REWARD, that is exactly what I did because they are valueless.

and Pdavis; I did enjoy the story, until they started tying reward into other unrelated content. I’m not forced to do anything. unless I want the rewards I received from the story to have ANY VALUE. To me the point of doing content is mostly for the reward.
Although, some content can be rewarding in and of itself, the reward is the main goal.
All the rewards received from that part of the DEAD STORY are worthless unless you do the fractals also. They are also not easily attainable. The rewards CANNOT be sold so they are worthless inventory space takers ONLY!
After 2 years, I’ve played all the different types of content and now only play the parts
I ENJOY.

You have succeeded in making the Living Story the DEAD Story. Now I have to wait on all new content to see if the rewards/goals are tied to other totally unrelated content again.

The guide may be accurate but after 5 times through all 30 spots listed, I don’t see the last lost badge.
When this type of achievement is made, the tracking of each item by number should be shown in our story journal, so we can AT LEAST search for the one we are missing and not all 30!
Stuck at 29/30 since day one. Gone through Dulfy’s guide 4 times, thoroughly checking each area and aligning the pictures with my location so I know I’m in the right place, reclogging to verify, and it’s just not appearing. Is it possible that one of the updates removed credit on one, yet it’s still invisible?
I don’t really know what else to try….
You should have seen map chat 15 minutes ago when everyone was kicked out of the instance. Most players were near completion when the server failed again and basically everyone left saying “—-” Well, I cant repeat that in the forums, but I don’t expect them to do any LS2 again.
Thanks for wasting my time. When you add content that requires achieving many running goals to get to the final goal, and don’t test anything out, and cant keep your servers working properly, it’s a MASSIVE MISTAKE to not track progress and put players back where they were when YOUR SYSTEM FAILED to work correctly AGAIN.

Thanks. I do store tools, but the crafting area and master crafters are unavailable during events. Those npcs don’t become actual merchants until the events (chain?) finish. The events are doable but far from Teq and severely limit harvesting time.
Short of putting merchants at the few waypoints that are safe from attack, which would never happen, it looks like this is all intentional. They must want me to buy more storage….
Is there any place in Sparkfly Fen that any harvesting tool can be purchased?
I realize there is a few seconds between events at the Astrozintli Forelands where it is possible, but good luck on the timing and forget it if your waiting for Tequatyl. The events don’t end till it’s too late.

If this is to improve the personal story, then fine. It needs it badly. If traits and skills or any other aspect of progression are going to be somehow tied to the personal story then that’s a huge mistake.
Whatever you do with it, please provide an option for us to eliminate any of it showing on our screen. No HUD items. I can’t express how much I hate Trehaernes personal story AND the forced content ending.
Even if you can set it up to create money in my wallet if I play part of it, I WONT. If I level a 5th character, it will never be through the personal story.
Perhaps it’s an issue on my end but when I look at the News and Announcements Forum, I don’t see a post for about 4 months time, except in the Dev Tracker Thread.
When I look into purchasing a game I usually take a look at the Forums to see if there is genuine interaction between the developers and the players before I buy.
I’m not suggesting anything in regards to the actual interaction on the forums in this game. What I am suggesting is that, if it really is the case, that there has been no post for 4 months there, then from a sales perspective it would be prudent to change that
forum design.

Mine crashes daily just before the 4pm (server time) event starts and as the map is filling up.
They already have tons of error reports on this and confirmed it as a bug,
and not on my end.

I’m starting to think we’ve been considered acceptable losses.
Just tell us if this is someone finding a way to make us crash so they can get their friends into a winnable instance (the megaserver is corruptible)
or there’s a problem with how groups are handled by the megaserver,
or you cant figure it out so we should just leave.

I try the content and almost always succeed. If I don’t succeed or make any progress at all, after repeated good effort attempts then I question the game. Clearly lots of others are questioning this also.
You seem to think that this jumping challenge is no different that any vista in the game. You are entitled to your opinion but that’s all it is. NOT FACT.
This is harder than any vista in the game OBVIOUSLY because it also incorporates the aspects into the jumps. Arenanet has been adding and combining skills for bosses to make them harder and that fine. It doesn’t block anyone’s progression.

What do you need screen shots and videos for? When you get near the top and try the first difficult jump over a long fall is the problem. You fall, and die, and there’s nobody there to rez you so it’s back to the start. 15 times of this (someone actually said 30 seconds) and I hate the story, the jumping and the whole game.
Let me try and put this in perspective for you. The next segment of the LS2 requires a new combination of jumping backwards while shooting targets at only maximum range, with a ranged weapon, and YOU CANT DO IT no matter how hard you try, and you consider using a Mesmer to get there to be like cheating.
Should you be prevented from completing any more of the LS2?
I’m glad the jumping is easy for you. Most of it is for me too. This is different, for a significant part of the player base. Are you prepared to lose them?
I’m not seeing any difference from last year. It’s still all about the 2 gals love story.
After about 2 minutes, I turned the sound off. Not seeing any reason to turn it back on during their story.
And no, I’m not prejudice. If it was 2 guys or 2 buffalo or 2 taco bell dogs, it would still be those 2’s story. Had more than enough of that npc character development last year.
It prevents immersion, instead of enhancing it.
Try a story segment where npc’s just give pertinent info and an occasional “be careful” and involve the actual players in dialog that makes us seek the right answers from them. Then instead of it being their story we are asked to help with, it becomes our story of fixing a problem we discovered and increasing our fame.

Actually, I see those wind gusts anywhere someone uses one of the 3 skills. They just don’t have any affect till those last 3 jumps. Yes there are nets, and they are a great improvement over last year, but I’ve never landed on one from a failed jump, only from trying to jump through that wind once or twice till I learned.
I’d like to believe it’s skill lag but the players near me suffer the same fate. They fall half way through their jump too. The only place I see any significant lag in the game is meleeing Tequatyl or the Karka Queen.
Hmmm, it’s like if you were to use the 3 skill but didn’t have a target. You would still jump in the direction you want to go but then you would quickly stop and fall.
So now every time we waypoint to an area where any events are occurring, our gold is taken, but we don’t go there. We go somewhere we did not want to go.
This is worse than having most of the waypoints show uncontested, even when they aren’t.
I’m concerned that a lot of players will look at this as simple robbery?I think you should probably reread the patch notes and consider how the game was operating prior to the change.
This patch actually SAVES the playerbase coins.
Before patch: Want to go to Map A, WP A but it always shows as contested so you have to go to Map A, WP B first (spend 2s) and then go to Map A, WP A (another 2s) for a total cost of 4s.
After patch: Want to go to Map A, WP A. One of two things happens:
1. You arrive at WP A (spend 2s).
2. WP A is contested so you arrive at WP B (spend 2s) and walk to WP A.
Let me correct this for you.
Your doing the Boss train, traveling around.
WP A was a lie so WP B, also contested, is a lie and you end up at WP C.
There is no way you can get back to WP A where the event is before the Boss melts away to the Zerg.
You lost the cost of traveling.
You lost the reward from the event.
Did you die trying to get there? (Megedestroyer comes to mind)
Travel cost again to repair.
Did it make you late again? Lost reward.
Apply the concept to what players actually do and this thread wont seem so funny.
I’m talking about when you wait for the wind to stop and then when you jump, you and anyone close, only make it half way and fall to your death.
I only see this when I’m the leader or near to it.
Don’t you see those blasts of wind all through the event? They only seem to have effect when your doing the last three jumps.
If it’s something else, it doesn’t matter to me, because I make a point of starting it several minutes late now.

Guess I was throwing a bunch of stuff in there, when I really and wanted to see if anyone else noticed how if you are in the lead, the elemental spirits just hound you till you fail. It doesn’t matter which skill is used when a spirit blows you sideways, they fail and you die.
So a race would imply everyone has an equal chance to win, but if you get good at it, your not treated equal.
A race would provide rewards based on how we place, however you can start when others have finished and still be rewarded the same.
Not saying it’s not fun, just that starting 2 minutes after everyone else makes it a lot easier without all those spirit effects.
