How much gold do you make?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

Money to gem to gold is the most time effective way to get gold (depends on how many extra money you want to spend on this hobby). TP is the best way to make gold. Dungeon and wvw is a more casual way to make gold. Just depends on how much gold you want for your characters. Do not needed more than 150g a week to get everything you would want within a reasonable amount of time.

How does WXP work?

in WvW

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_Experience

-Guards give 20wxp, Lord give 50wxp, SM lord 100wxp
-Yaks 50wxp
-Sentries100 wxp.
- Players give 0-60wxp(depending on how long they have been alive).
-Camps give 200wxp. 4guards(20) 1 supervisor (40). ~320wxp.
-Tower give 400wxp. 2guard at the gate 4 in the lords room. ~660wxp.
-Keeps give 800wxp. 4guards at each gate and in the lords room. plus the keep lord. ~1090wxp.
-Eotm lacks the same amount of guards as in normal wvw, so keeps/tower/camps give less wxp.

Then you have wxp bonuses from being outnumbered 25%, wxp booster 50%, and b-day booster 100%. Players and lvling wxp have a small chance to give you wxp consumables. You get wxp from defending too just read the wiki page.

WvW Rank finishers

The long term time-based rewards for wvw ranks needs to be improved. In one more year someone will finally hit rank 9999. The only think he will have to look forward to is having 8649 extra skill points :P. Wvw based finishers are a good idea. They should cost a specific amount of wxp skill pts instead of a wvw rank lvl. All of the wxp skills are useful but not everyone will use them all of the time.

Legendary Armor

I would prefer if A-net makes a 2nd legendary weapon for all weapon types. Instead of legendary armor/trinkets, so the other classes can have a combo legendary. I think legendary backslot items would look better than legendary trinkets. Imagine a cloak that moves around with the same look as the twilight or a clock made of lightning.

Ulion.5476

Do not go for cavalier or knights gear on a ele. Burst damage is what kill us so you need vitality. For a mix set try pvt armor/berserker trinkets, full celestial works too but you will need to rely on wvw buffs/stacks for extra damage. You are not using many cantrip so arcane evasion is better. If you are tend to not time your dodges well swap back to 4 water. Ether renewal is our best heal but S/D has alot of extra heals and condition removals. The other heals can not be interrupted but you will heal for less overtime in comparison to ether renewal. Signet of restoration tends to work best for tank builds so do not use that.

Mix of gears?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

With full celestial/divinity rune you will have all stat comparable to the secondary stat of normal gear. Meaning you will have the same armor/health as someone in pvt. Celestial has some stats that players do like to prioritize, like condition damage and healing power. That tends to be why some use mix sets. Celestial gear scales better with multiple boons and it is the 3rd best defensive gear.

Well the amount of gold I make per week has not change that much it since I have been playing. It has been 100-200g per week. Patch week are different since speculating can greatly increase your profit. Some patches I have made enough money buy a legendary in 2 weeks. Never really farmed for anything after I found my niche on TP.

I stated save for your precursor first not necessarily buy it. Anything can happen, I could find something that is worthwhile to invest and double my money. It is not wasteful to save for it knowing it is a long term investment. Precursors are RNG so it is best to just save up not hope one will drop. It takes most people months to make that much gold, so they have time to decide.

Do not trust the mystic forge unless you are making hundreds of gold a week. Everything else you get get slowly but their is no way around the precursor unless you are lucky. Save for precursor, gift of mastery, gift of fortune, then gift of x legendary. In that order. Notice that the price of precursor is always rising. Ready Up: Balance Philosophy - 6/13 @ Noon PDT

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

What should the strengths and weaknesses of each profession be? What’s your profession’s kryptonite?

Elementalist:
Strengths should be
-Easy to swap damage type direct or condition depending on your enemies spec.
-Large amount of control conditions, should be capable of perm chill/blind/weakness builds and gain survivability not lose it. With lightning rod it is possible to make a weakness build but elementalist have a limited amount of interrupts (Make lighting rod a debuff that proc off of all allies interrupts for a period of time). Blinding ashes would be a great skill if it effected multiple targets for group play. Not enough access to chills outside of water for a chill build to be viable.
-High condition removals.
-Easy access to regen, fury, burn, chill and fire fields

Weakness should be
-Poison/Confusion
-Low health/armor
-High skill cap
-Few stun/disables

Krytonite
Thieves, poison/confusion.

Current Problems
-FG is very powerful in PvE content
-Due to our low health elementalist must use cantrips, 15water or 30 arcane for survival none of the other trait lines are give your reliable control skills.
-Some of our long cooldown skills have minor effects
-Fire shield 40s cd with 1s internal cooldown. It is easier to stack might with fire fields, so why the internal cooldown for it?
-No viable condition spec

Monk vs Water

in Elementalist

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

Monk is better. Just looking at the wiki pages. The monk 4 piece does not scale with healing power so 690×4= 2760heal a minute. The 10% heal to allies will add 600 extra healing to allies with just arcane evasion and water traits, anytime you swap to water and dodge. Swap to water 6 times a minute 3600 extra healing to allies. Water runes 6 piece 690+750(1500healing power) after every heal. With ether renewal 4 heals a minute 6740 extra healing to nearby players.

Water runes give you 6740 extra heals and a condition removal. Monk runes give 2740 self heals and 3600 extra heals to allies from traits alone. Monk is better for healing allies and water is better for healing yourself.

[Suggestion] Watchwork Salvage Kit

in Black Lion Trading Co

Ulion.5476

Any gem salvage kit that would give you a chance at a rare item is a very bad idea. You know their is a salvage market right? Where a dozen players salvage ten of thousands of items a hour to give you cloth/leather. Since that is one of the few ways to get cloth/leather.

Even a 20% chance of watchwork sprockets would cripple that market and drive the prices of it down. Since it could increase the supply of sprockets by up to 20% of all cloth/leather on the market. That would making sprockets worthless. You can buy salvage unlike mining node which you have to look for.

You can solo roam in the lower tiers and still play focus on objectives, killing the enemies you see in your path. In the upper tiers people do not like to 1v1. Most of the time you have to run with a group to be successful. When you try to 1v1 in t1 players tend to run until they outnumber you and that does not guarantee that they will win. Alot of the t1 roamers have no skills.

Alacrity traits not worthwhile?

Been looking at the cooldown reduction traits on my other class and I notice most of them get something extra. I think about have I play my elementalist vs my other classes .. With my other professions I am using my main weapon set 60-70% of the time. I am only spending less than half of that time in any attunement. Its rare for me to stay in one attunement more than kitten at a time or 20-30% of the time. Why do I need to even consider taking the alacrity traits?

They are half as useful and half as good compared to the recharge traits on other professions. To play a elementalist well, most game type requires you to not stay in one attunement for a prolong period of time. Why have they not been buff in some way?

Going to say right now that copper salvage o matic will never save you money as it still charges you more per salvage than a crude salvage kit is worth. (unless it got changed)

Its a quality of life item. The copper salvage kit is not about saving money but time. You never have to visit a vendor to buy salvage kits. You can simiple click the stack of items you want to salvage. If you salvage for profit it saves around 10-15% of your time. Which you can be using to do something else or make more gold.

Needing a S/D build for wvw solo roaming

Try obsidian focus instead of smoothing waves. Most of scepters auto attacks are channeled so you should always have it working for an extra 260 armor. Signet of restoration is not the best heal for scepter since you attack slower than dagger. With ether renewal will have another skill that will actively increase you armor. You should have a decent amount of heals with a S/D set-up. Nothing esle I would recommend different from the build mentioned (0-6-2-0-6).

Precursors Overpriced...

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

The players that are having issues making a legendary, are the ones that thought you could save the most expensive item for last without it increasing in price. My friend just finished his Bitfrost(1year). The price of a precursor when he started was 200g. He was not that focused on getting a legendary until wardrobe. That was when he start to focus on the precursor but everything else he got slowly over the year. When he finally bought his precursor it was 1100g.

I can understand why people did not want to get it first. Still it became obvious that the price of precursor were steadily increase each month. So not getting one as your first step to a legendary is a bad plan. Everyone I see complaining about it has done the same thing and thought I just get the precursor last. It is 1/4 of the legendary and 1/3 of the cost.

GW has horizontal progression so it is meant for casual play, so you do not feel like you are always trying to catch upto someone. The hardcore players are complaining about the lack of difficult. The casual want the good looking skins to be easier to obtain. Ideally A-net should reward difficult content with good looking skins/new skills/traits instead of just gold for all of the best looking skins. Grinding for a legendary is boring and not fun. So it is either a game with a gear thread mill were you have to gear up newer players to do new content. Or a game when their is almost no difficult content and you grind to look like a kitten. Luck: how to increase it the best way?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ulion.5476

Should have just started a new thread :P. Anyways you failed to take into account TP tax. You can profit from salvaging green/blues and sell back the high valued crafting mats (t3-4 cloth/leather). Even after you sell the dust you will lose money from buying ecto. Buying hundreds of cheap mid-level, cloth/leather greens daily should still be profitable. The green/blue you should buy are the one mentioned in the crafting guides since they were always very abundance.

When I maxed luck it took less time/money than I expected with the amount of green I could buy and salvage daily. It took 3months instead of the year I thought it would take. Btw: 73% mf= 1% max luck, 144% mf = 10% max luck, 176% mf = 25% max luck, 225% mf = 50% max luck.

The main issue you are having VideoGamermike.5813 is that the TP is global instead of server based like in other mmo. A server based auction supply was easier to control and you can feel that you are really contributing. With a global market it is harder to have control over any specific item. The rarer items are more abundant in a global market . Hard to imagine getting a legendary if it was rare to even see a precursor on a server based TP.

in Black Lion Trading Co

It is a free and global market(NA/EU). The prices for every are determined by supply and demand. Most players are either lvl 80 or a new player, so the t1 and t6 items are more common than the t3-t4 items. The value of item various during the day in the morning prices for crafting mats are high in the afternoon they are cheap.

The players that rush to sell items for quick gold do not gain the maximum profit. Still players that are patient will either make a profit off of that or get a significantly cheaper item due to buy orders. Flipper make their money off of the impatient people that want to make quick gold.

The price of silver doubloons and charged lodestones is justified. Their is a very low drop rate for those items. Can not control any of the crafting market for a prolong period of time since those items are in constant supply.

Capping doesn't give rewards

in WvW

Posted by: Ulion.5476

Ulion.5476

The no credit while stand in the cap bug has been going on in wvw since it began and A-net hass not done anything about it. The bug tends to be caused by tapping camp/tower/keeps and swapping maps before your can flip it. Normally if you tap bay and go to flip north camp. If your zerg cames and flips bay when you are on the map you get bronze/silver credit. But if you tap a camp/tower/keep and swap maps(or d/c) it leaves a lingering dynamic event for that map that can not be completed. Whenever you go back to that map and flip what ever it was that you could not cap before you do not get credit.

I have reported this issue hundred of times and A-net has not responded to me. I would say that it is a known bug but A-net has never responded to any of my tickets about that issue. I guess A-net does not think this is a major problem even though it has cost my dozens of levels in wxp of the year. I know what causes it so I try to stay on a map long enough to flip a defend camp/tower/keep or give up. I just stopped reporting the issue since A-net is not paying attention to my tickets anyways :P.

Also bloodlust should be a buff for the weaker servers. That mostly have roamer/havoc groups on during the day. Like a server that is completely outmatched by both server should always have 3 bloodlust.

Still crying my eyes out ’bout those 24 chaos guns I bought at ~300G and that i sold for 1k G (-15 % TP fee).

A longterm investment can be as good as shortterm.

Stop paying attention to this post :P. Long term investments can be as worthwhile as short term ones but you have to wait until the supply get low or the demand increases. Until then you have to just sit on your investment and you never know what will happen until then. The demand for the item could decrease, A-net could increase the supply so their is always a risk.

Long term you turn that chaos gun into a 550g profit in what? half a year. Shorterm you can turn that 300g into a 5-20% profit daily. That is 15-60g a day for 6 months 450-1800g. If A-net made precursors craftable that chaos gun investment could have been a lost in money. Still had to predict what new things A-net will introduce within 6 months to mess with the market of some items.

GW2 TP is high risk?

TP is high risk IF you invest in a long term market(jetpack, pheonix skins, etc) or one that people speculate will increase in demand after a update(dyes, gossamer(befoer people realize you needed silk instead)). Still you can make a profit off of people speculate in the short term buy quickly buying low and reselling the next day. Take into account the TP tax, cost of mats of a crafting items and then you can understand what you can make to get a profit.

The Festival of the four wind bazaar is always profitable for me. The profit margins I am use to are 5-20% but with the bazaar those profit margins shot up to 70-100% for a few days. Made a nice profit from the first week.

The guilds that joined TC from SoR strengthen the already strong coverage areas that TC had. So TC did not gain the lacking coverages that it has had since the BG/Kain/TC days. Also the alliance already severed it propose and guaranteed JQ/TC 2nd instead having a chance of finishing 4th.

The swiss style tournament ended up being the same as a win up loser down system. Like I expected, a easy match-up or a impossible one for most servers. I want Quality of life changes to wvw before the next season example of some:

-Seasons should not go beyond 7weeks.
-More small group focused wvw traits
-Different commander icons/options one for small groups or guild groups.
-Change the outmanned buff into bloodlust based on the number of maps that you are outmanned on you get the buff.
-Bloodlust nodes should be replaced with something else to make it more rewarding for small groups to want them. Not something that all servers need to have.
-Improve the map scenery, similar to how Eotm is but all maps would have the same format but a different geographic area. So each bl would look awesome and different.

Why does ArenaNet hate farming?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Oh, and there’s also a contingent of TP flippers that would love to destroy farming altogether since they can keep their monopoly. The have-nots are just playing into their hands.

Without people farmers flippers would have no items to flip. Flippers are the middle men. Farmers that sell items trying to make fast gold lose money to flippers because of this. Since the market is global, it is extremely hard to have a monopoly on any of the crafting item markets.

The rare item market that is a different story. Precursors, black lion skins are extremely limited. So controling one of those market takes thousands of gold but few have that much money or are willing to do a long term investment like that.

Rare greatswords cost 65-70s or 2.5-2.8g per attempt, exotics 3.5-4.5g per exotic or 15-18g per attempt. The price of a dusk/dawn should be more than what it takes to craft one (675-2500g). Demand is high so it is extremely hard to keep any of the popular precursors in stock. 3 Dusks (2000g),14 Dawn (900g) in stock.

Queen Jubilee and The Bazaar expectations

in Living World

This is the info from Queen Jubilee a year ago: http://dulfy.net/2013/08/06/gw2-queens-jubilee-patch-coverage/

Queen Jubilee added a temporary zone to Divinity reach. Inside the zone were different areas that spawn dynamic event bosses. Above that area was the gauntlet which were 12 1v1 boss fights with Lydia being the final and hardest boss in the game. Sovereign weapon skins and the recipes for some of the rare sigil/runes should be back.

This was the update a year ago: http://dulfy.net/2013/07/08/gw2-bazaar-of-the-four-winds-patch-coverage-guide/

The festival of the four winds added a temporary new zone that has quartz crystal mining nodes. The entire zone was a large jumping puzzle type area. You could get fortune scraps around the world which were used to buy zephyrite skins and the catcher backslot items. Zephyr Sanctum Supply Boxes should be back which will enable you to exchange various raw crafting materials and previous event items for the boxes. Each box should contain 1 Celestial recipe and a number of Quartz Crystals. So expect some of the cheaper crafting mats to increase in price.

Need more uses for luck after 300% cap

In terms of luck 225% is the half way point. It is cheaper to max luck with blue/green than using ecto. You can even profit from some of the salvaged mats with blue/greens. Salvaging ecto is always a loss. Cost around 1500 gold to max luck with green/blues double that with ecto(takes into account selling the salvaged mats back) or takes a year or so normal play. The amount of people with max luck should be comparable to the amount of people with legendary. Still only few player say I want to max out my luck to increase my RNG chances :P.

WvW Infusions - offensive vs. defensive

in WvW

Ulion.5476

Large scale the guard defense/offensive infusions do not matter. They only add extra stats so any infusion with stats would work. For small scale, with the defensive infusions able you to solo a camp in one pull or a fully upgraded camp in 2 pulls.

Full ascended gear: armor 6 defensive slots, trinkets 2offensive 2defensive (same stats) +2more infusions of either, and weapons 2 offensive. You can get all offensive infusions trinkets with mix stat rings/accessories if that is the idea stat set-up you want. Adding max guard traits you can get anywhere from -16% damage +18% attack to -22% damage +12% attack against guards. So it just depends on how often you roam compared to zerging and if you have issues surviving a camp solo.

Your warscore determines if you server wins the match-ups. All bases (camps/towers/keeps) your server owns equals your PPT (Points per tick), which is added to your warscore every 15m. Points not from tick are what your roamers/havoc squads mostly get. Its the points that are instantly added to your warscore. Example stomping people with bloodlust gives 1 instant point, yaks (traveling on the road) give 3 points, sentries give 1 point when it flips. Since bloodlust effects all borderlands capping it gives a huge advantage to your roamers. It can add as much as 150 instant point every 15m from stomps.

Rating determines the tier your server is in, but rating take awhile to adjust. When any WvW guild transfers that effects a servers rating. Since you will lose some coverage. Your coverage is just the times which you server has a guild or zerg roaming the maps.

The legend insanely expensive

I crafted the legend months ago. Around 110 attempts or so 250g at the time. I try for a precursor whenever I hit 1000g, wasted 500g after that. I have nothing esle to use my gold on atm.

WvW a measure of server pop not overall skill

Well this is old news. Their are a few skilled wvw guilds in every tier. The large militia zergs that are around during the low periods that determine alot of the lower tier match-ups.

I made a legendary in 2weeks it was during the bazaar last year. Prices were so messed up then, I was making 5x my normal ammount. When I normally make say around a hundred on a normal week. That was back when the cheapest legendaries were 500g.
