New weapons for Classes

I really want some ranged aoe weapon with direct damage for necros.(to replace staff-scepter/dagger) With constant condition nerfs with every patch I don’t want to play as condition build anymore.

We necros really lack of stun breakers, with recent buffs some classes play with stun spamming style which makes us impossible to move.(we already lack mobility)
yes we have stun breakers but these unpopular utilities aren’t suitable for many builds. please add stun breakers to skills like all kind of wells, blood is power, corrosive poison cloud etc. to compensate stun buffs of other classes. plus they are getting a heal skill with condition removal(which will make them op against a neco), so please give us stun breakers to balance it.

Sad but true.

WVW could be improved a lot but i don’t think it was any kind of failure, quite the opposite.

sPVP on the other hand has almost no redeeming qualities, i don’t like a single thing about it.

Top dislikes about GW2 PVP:

  • downed state. it’s so bad it’s IMO a gamekiller.
  • skills/traits. not enough variety and meaningful player choice in skills, and traits are on the whole pretty ineffectual. bizarrely, the depth and variety of skills was GW1’s greatest strength and most game-defining trait.
  • the spammy nature of combat/lack of a resource mechanic.

Everything else I can live with.

I agree with you.
Downed state makes playing with pugs nearly impossible, rally system needs to be fixed.
A new player enters spvp server, dies quickly and works as a rallybot for other team which affects other players’ gameplay. It’s same in wvw too. Rally and downed state system must be revised to make playing with random people better.

pvd and lack of pk/pvp action is the main problem in wvw. let us earn points for our world by directly killing other players, not by ramming doors all day. 85%+ of the time you spend in wvw is pvd and walking between objectives. no this isn’t fun, pk/pvp is currently a secondary thing not the main objective in wvw. this is the main problem for many players. we also need better rewards like leaderboard ranks, rank emblems for our characters to keep up playing. you play for nothing after you unlock buffs you want in wvw. ppl don’t even know your rank level or experience in wvw. also skill lags make it impossible to fight in great numbers which discourages many players to play in wvw.

I never thought WvW was sposed to be 100% about PvP. I thought it was entirely intended to be a game mode of capture and hold.

It’s not about being 100% pvp, it’s about priorities in wvw. Currently it’s more capture and hold than pvp. I don’t mean they must be removed, but pvp action needs a boost for more fun. They can also add a new pvx zone(pvp zone that connected to pve like wvw) without castles/sieges for pure pvp action without modifying wvw.

PvE:
1: Condition cap problem, structures are invulnerable via conditions etc. Condition builds aren’t viable in pve. Players always want you to play berserker etc…
2: Viability and balance of all classes (all non-heavy classes)
3: Customizability: Dyeable weapons, dyeable particles and effects, player housing etc..

PvP:
1: New non-spvp(connected to pve) pk zones as large as or slightly smaller than wvw maps but without sieges&castles/pvd (Just for pvp fun and honor points)
2:New spvp modes (other than capture)
3:In game championships and score system : Gvg, Tournament etc.

Grinding please please please

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Umut.5471

All of grinding in this game is very easy except legendaries. You can craft an ascended instead if you just want the stats. Zero grinding = getting bored of the game in several weeks,

Whether its easy or not is irrelevant, its tedious and not good gameplay.

And like I said above, my best time in the game was largely before all this time gating and grind was introduced and I was able to experiment with characters and builds through the different parts of the game. When we have new content every 2 weeks why should we get bored?

Because living story content is boring, easy and not rewarding.
I can craft 4+ ascended weapons now with my current mats and gold, and i haven’t even grinded specifically for them.(won’t craft an ascended either) I’ve played in wvw, done achievements etc. gold and mats come without specifically grinding for them. And I can’t find an use for them. You obtain them as you play. I think we need harder grinding to keep players playing or many more players will quit and go to other mmorpgs. Don’t think only for yourself, many players want to grind at least at a moderate amount. We can see that many players quit the game and go to wow because this game is already so easy and bores players quickly because there’s no grinding or target other than legendary weapons. I don’t say that they have to add more vertical item grinding, but they can add something like a guildvsguild point system, honor system in pk areas, visible ranks more pk areas etc. It wouldn’t be an unbalancing grinding.

These effects are the only reason to craft legendaries. If their effects become toggleable, then they will look like just valueless exotic skins. I hope anet doesn’t add such a senseless feature. If they add this someday, they will have to refund all 1600-1700 gold cost to legendary weapon owners.

People who would turn off legendary effects don’t care that you have a legendary in the first place. So if they turn them off, you aren’t losing anything. You won’t be losing the awe factor if it would never have been there in the first place.

If your enjoyment of the game comes from flaunting a sparkly, expensive weapon in the faces of people who don’t care, then you may need to reevaluate your priorities.

Some people don’t want to have these weapons shown on their screen, sometimes it’s just a bit too much.

Then as i say, anet must refund legendary owners’ 1600+ gold at first before making such a mistake.
These are vanity items, you can be jealous of other players’ items and you may not want to see them because of jealousy, but that doesn’t mean you can prevent hardcore players’ effort to get better visual items. This game is only about visuals when it comes to items. If effects are lost, or toggleable there’s no point to craft a legendary.
It’s like wanting rich guys with ferraris&lambos disappear from the streets just because you don’t want to see them anymore. People don’t craft these to just see these in their own screen. So toggleable effects = death of legendaries. An ascended weapon would be more than enough then.
I don’t care if they make it toggleable but they have to add an option to refund crafting cost/materials of legendaries for existing owners before adding this, or they have to buff their stats much much more to compensate the loss of visual effects. Legendaries must have an advantage or prestige somehow. Legendary weapons are the game’s main objective, get over it. More than 50% of regular or hardcore players just play to craft a legendary(or many more). You guys cry about rainbows and unicorns then you have to cry about legendary shortbow and other ugly ones, not all legendaries. Ugly effects need to be replaced with better ones, mustn’t be removed completely.

All of grinding in this game is very easy except legendaries. You can craft an ascended instead if you just want the stats. Zero grinding = getting bored of the game in several weeks, because there would be no personal target in game to achieve or grind. What do you want to do, doing dungeons over and over for nothing? Or killing players, breaking doors in wvw for nothing, or no point? Grinding is what keeps an mmorpg alive, either softcore or hardcore… You can be sure that gw2 has one of the most softcore and easy grinding in an mmorpg. If you are extremely casual that can’t even grind in a softcore manner in this easy game, I suggest you to play moba fps etc. for pointless gameplay.

DEV=>New Vitality VS Conditions Damages

Umut.5471

If that happens, then they have to remove all condition removal skills to balance it. Condition damage is already inferior to physical damage. why ?
- Condition damage is a damage over time(dot), it doesn’t deal its full damage instantly like physical damage attack. That means it’s impossible to do burst or insta kills with it. This is why condition builds aren’t preferred in pve dungeon run parties.

- Conditions are removable, so you can remove them with only getting 1 tick of damage from them which means up to ~%95 damage reduction. You can’t remove %90+ of physical attack damages continuosly like this example. This is already an op defense against condition damages.

- Condition durations can be shortened by using -duration items/buffs which means permanent condition damage reduction(via reduction of duration) up to 65%.

I won’t even add pve-only related condition problems to my list. (like 25 stack limit on mobs)

Like these flaws of condition damage aren’t enough, you want extra nerfs to conditions. If they want to do this in someway then they have to completely remove dot damage from this game because nobody will use it after this kind of change.

They have to add visually improved versions of these weapons first.

Place a CAP on Condi Duration Reduction

in Suggestions

Posted by: Umut.5471

Umut.5471

I disagree. Condition damage is armor ignoring damage. That is the plus above regular damage. Condition builds where allready very powerfull specially in PvP and actually got more powerfull. Guardians lost one condition remover from pure of voice (only one removed anymore) and gained purging flames for 20% short duration. It’s a fair trade off.

Don’t make this game too easy. It’s not supposed to be hit button once and win.

Condition damage is unaffected by armor, yes but it’s a damage over time and completely removable so still much much inferior when compared with direct damage. You can’t remove direct damage like a condition damage right ? And condition damage doesn’t deal it’s full damage instantly like a direct damage attack. Direct damage is already op when you compare it with condition damage. Plus they can reduce condition damage duration up to 100% is an overkill. Sadly, I agree with the original poster. Condition damage already has so many flaws, duration reduction as an addition to these flaws is an overkill. or maybe they should allow us to reduce incoming physical damage stacking up to 100% ? So many direct damage using players would complain just like this post.

Buff bad classes, don't nerf good ones.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Umut.5471

Umut.5471

The game needs nerfing too, because constant buffing will lead to some problems.
For example current fight durations are so short compared to other mmorpgs, and constant buffs will allow all classes to do more damage against each other, so fights will be much shorter. They will need to buff hp and defense to compensate this, and this will mean a constant hp inflation of the game which deforms the game’s original mechanic. Nerfing is needed to preserve fight times and original fight mechanic.

We also need power-based aoe weapon, something like power version of staff.
-1200 range + 1 auto attack/4 power based aoe skills(2 of 4 includes ccs).
-Can be traited for 240 radius.
-Uses power based well-like skills which stay at area for 5-7 secs and deals power-based damage every seconds.

This will help us to deal with condition stack limits, we can’t deal damage in pve due to low 25 stack limit. Also this will make power builds viable in wvw, current direct damage based weapons of necro are single targeted and useless vs zerg.

You know there is this thing called Death Shroud, it has 3 skills that cc and 2 strong power attacks.

I don’t mean we need ccs, this new concept power-aoe weapon will have it as well as staff’s ccs. Some of its skills will have ccs along with raw damage. We need power(direct damage) based aoes in weapon skills. Necro depends on conditions so much. Condition sucks in pve due to 25 stack limit. And power builds really lack aoe damage which sucks in wvw, this kind of weapon will solve all of these problems. We need a cleave weapon with high damage as well, I agree on that.

Vertical progression gives you a goal to achieve, then you have a point to play this game for much more. Addicting games always have a new point/goal to play and grind, this is the reason of wow’s success. Don’t only think about items and gear when I mean grinding, gear power and balance can still stay at the same level but they can add a new grinding mechanism like honor points which gained from wvw and pk zones. These can be used to improve character looks, to buy guild capes, to achieve aesthetic cool things etc. This is just an example, honor points or maybe another thing… But good looking items need to be obtained harder than current achievement reward system. Players need to play much more if they want good skins. I mean, you can get zenith weapons even with a low AP, everyone has a back item of current living story etc. The rewards aren’t rare among players so there’s no point in getting them. The only grindy thing is legendary weapons, but effort and gameplay isn’t essential to get one because they depend mostly on gold. This is why gold buyers get them instantly… In brief, I think the vertical aesthetic progression would be good and fits this game’s balanced mechanic better than wow’s item-power progression. The more gameplay and effort, the better and cooler skins and character looks. (Without depending on gold, and with very rare skins) Prevent gold sellers, add more effort-requiring + non-gold legendary-like skins, add new weekly/monthly/perma leaderboard system and competitive system among players and give visible badges/icons next to nickname for this to players, in order to compete other players and become in a better situation etc. etc.. And gw2 players will have many hard goals to achieve in this game and this won’t break item/power balance. The only limit is imagination, these are only examples.

Meh. Don’t much care for this Scarlet business at all. Very not interesting story line.

Meh, more pve content like we don’t have so much already… Add new pk modes, and pvp content to make this game go further…

Funny, I think that PVP content is what is killing PVE, where the majority of the player base is.

This game was advertised as a pk/pvp oriented game like gw1, pve is just pointless, not rewarding and not enjoyable in a cosmetic game after an end-game point (after having all gear). Why everything is cosmetic and even-balanced? because this was supposed to be a pvp/pk game with even item balance in order to prevent pay2win or grind2win systems and allow casuals to fight without grinding. So, what’s the point of a pve oriented cosmetic, stat balanced game if you can’t grind gear in pve and be stronger? Is killing brainless straightforward computer controlled mobs over and over fun ? Why majority of the player base is pve fans? Because so many players from pvp player base have quit because of underrated pvp modes. You guys only think about spvp when i say pvp, wvw is a pvp area too. We need more pvp interaction areas besides spvp and wvw. Why players get bored and whine here all day ? Because there’s so limited pk action in this game compared to other mmos. Yes, wvw is mainly(80%) pvd/pve too and this makes wvw boring after some time. We need a zone with more player vs player fights than wvw. Think about other succesful mmos, they had 7/24 pk action in their open world pvp zones, this is how a game makes its players addicts after completing all items. Don’t think selfish, think about end-game players too, pve content just attracts new players or loyal pve fans. For a personal example, I have 2x legendary weapons, an ascended wpn, all asc. trinkets and all high-grade cosmetic items, what can I do in pve after this point ? I’ve finished my pve gameplay. I want to continue this game with new pvp areas, zones and with more player vs player action. I don’t say that we don’t need new pve content, but besides new pve content every 2 weeks, we also need new pvp content/zones and areas too. There’s so many players who think like me as I see. So don’t be selfish and be considerate against all types of players. I just wish them to give same importance to both pve and pvp(non-spvp) modes. Maybe underrated pvp modes is why you don’t like pvp that much. For example we still don’t have seperate gvg championship mode in a game named “guild wars”. I’m a fan of this game and I just want this game to go further and attract more ppl. I’m sure this is what arenanet wants too.

Condition duration sucks in wvw since they get overly removed before giving a proper damage with its full duration.(because of aoe cleanses) If you ask me, if it was giving us 300-400 condition damage and %10 condition duration it would be really op. But now, op ? I can just laugh at this.
If you ask me power precision crit damage and condition damage food buffs are the only kind of op buffs. For example maintenance oil etc. Because they have the raw damage and can’t be removed prematurely like a condi duration.

This just makes some good berserker classes overpowered in pve in terms of dps.

If you are talking about pve, yes this is gw(guardian warrior) game.
In wvw and pvp there are better options than them. Hopefully, anet wants to seperate pvp and pve balance and treat both of them differently. As a necro, and condition build user on my thief/warrior, I think we need a proper condition/dot engine in PVE. Some classes has better condition builds than zerkers(for example engis/necros), but this 25 stack limit is preventing us to use condi builds in pve. You can’t deal damage to champs, bosses etc bcos there’s already full 25 stacks on them. They have to rewrite the game’s condition processing engine from head to toe. Other mmo’s don’t have this dot limit problem although they have generally more players in screen. I suggest them to allow us personal 25 stack condition damage space for pve only. Passive debuff condition stacks can stay the same, I just mean damaging conditions like bleed, burning, poison, torment, confusion etc. Without these changes, this game will stay as a berserker-only game in pve. This makes warriors to have the best dps in pve, so they are the only preferred class in dungeons and events.

I have one in my bank(to sell it later) but after mf patch it’s bugged somehow and turned to soulbound. I’ve noticed this after seeing this thread.
I will use it on my ele if they don’t fix it to be sellable again. It’s stats aren’t changed by default as you say, it wants you to select its stats manually. (Which will make it account bound)
If they fix It and make it sellable again I can sell one in tp

It isn’t bugged. That is the intended behavior for MF% items. They all became bound when the patch hit.

Yes, I know. But they’ve treated these expensive weapons differently in order not to prevent them from being sold at tp. Immobulus is in the list so this is not intended.
Quote from september 3 patch notes :

Infinite Light, Immobulus, The Crossing, The Mad Moon, Arachnophobia, Cooguloosh, and Seasatchel will all allow their stats to be permanently chosen as a one-time ability but not become account bound.

In pve zerkers always own. Due to the condi stack limit, condition builds get hard time when it’s about killing champs and getting loot. Also if you are using rabid set with toughness, mobs will get aggroed to you more than other glassy builds in crowded areas, which is annoying and lowering survivability. Hope they fix condition limit in pve and make all builds viable. But for now, zerkers own in pve.
