You should skip the crafting 500/ascended update stuff and keep making more of this.
I’ve loathed just about every update before this except for the tuning and bugfix ones, so I’m honestly glad that after a year ANet releases something I can get behind. (Even if they’ve already revealed plans to add stuff I don’t want)

Literally all you do is run for the meat and grab it before the dog. Neither of them do any damage until you kill one. Did this on full Zerker and I don’t think I went below 66% health, ever. Dog just nibbles at you, but kill it first and then burst the guy. Before killing the dog you can just ignore your health.
The TA guilds left HoD and PRX left SoS due to drama? News to me
The drama regarding HoD’s collapse is well documented. The point I was making was that every server that fell in ranks in a similar fashion fell as a result of guild politics rather than hundred of people unanimously deciding that winning was boring.
This. You can only win for so many weeks before people start getting bored and leaving for a better challenge. Happened to HoD, SoS and JQ. Will happen to BG eventually.
None of the servers you mentioned broke up because they were winning… The drama fairy hit both HoD and SoS (and SBI). In fact the time in which guilds left JQ were in a period where JQ was either 2nd or 3rd place.

If he were complaining about chest thumping in general, then that would be fine. But he’s saying that SEA has no right to brag because they win by outnumbering their opponents. Outnumbering your opponents has been how you win WvW since day one. So no quotation marks necessary, SEA is dominating their timezone.

The line of demarcation is when the point where the numbers went from being definitive as to your next match to being more randomized. Some interesting rolls of the dice could have both BG and SoR fall out of “tier 1”… does that mean neither is T1?
Whatever match up has two of BG, SoR and JQ is the Tier 1 match up…
If the impossible happened and all three servers went to different matches for consecutive weeks, you can say tiers don’t exist.
JQ being in T2 doesn’t mean it’s a T2 server. DB in T1 doesn’t mean it’s a T1 server. They’re tourists.
And to say that “tiers don’t exist” because these infrequent match ups can occur, despite the fact that “tiers” accurately describe the match making in every other instance is asinine.

Fascinating, it’s almost as if, excluding RNG matches, servers are matched up by their rating and ordered from highest to lowest… As if they are in… tiers.
… But have nothing to do with server strength/rank anymore.
Rofl… Yeah, it’s just a huge coincidence that the strongest servers are on the top and the weakest are on the bottom.
So in week 23 SoR was only the 4th best server, even though they won the top 3 ranked server matchup in week 22 by 54k ? They sure blossomed to go on and win top 3 ranked server matchup again in week 24 by ~20k.

Yes, because the infrequent RNG derived match ups make tiers irrelevant, despite the rest of the servers being ranked and matched up in such a manner. And Tier 1 only breaking up twice since the patch was implemented.

So you guys really just said that you need the “balance” back that JQ brings? You are all implying that if both servers aren’t attacking BG, than things are out of balance. Maybe you should of thought of that while we were fresh in Tier 1 months ago.
YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELVES. Week after week of Waha + SOR SEA vs BG SEA and EMP or SF taking down a gate at garrison just to get out of the way for CHOO or TW to rush in with full supply. Or my favorite, the nightly cap of our keep in EBG while JQ caps and SOR spawn camps.
We reacted and adapted to the BLATENT 2v1, you made fun of us (especially me) for calling you out on. You laughed at our “tears” and our screenshots. You said “its not 2v1, JQ hits you all the time”. Well we responded by tightening up our tactics and most importantly, our cross map/guild communication and teamwork.
Then when the scores got close again (we won twice in a row) you recruited not one, but two HUGE EU guilds from EU servers to stack the zone before NA so they have T3 waypoints every night.
We have done nothing but respond to the pressure you blatantly put on our server.
You created this monster. Deal with the consequences.

JQ recruits to beat SoS. Beats SoS…SBI & SoS goes down, gives SOR the numbers to come up to T1, also gives BG the numbers for T1. JQ wins by 70K every week, BG is the first to recruit in order to beat JQ, DESPITE the fact that JQ was losing some of it’s players(EMP)… WM + RISE + Meow, wins 2 weeks by 30K. As result, SoR recruits IRON, wins 5 weeks.
I wouldn’t exactly say “SoR” caused every server to start stacking.

I didn’t say JUST SoR. Its both. JQ was the first super stacked server after transfers shut off. People thought they would never be beaten. In fact a few servers died because of it.
However, SOR and JQ TOGETHER (I have to capitalize words because some people fail to actually read them) caused this problem.
The score shows how badly we were being double teamed. Look at it RIGHT NOW during the height of NA. BG is ticking at 300 +- 10. Was that even close to happening last week during NA? No, and we didn’t get any new guilds. The SEA has an even higher shift.
The guy who called it an arms race had it right on. The problem is, BG wasn’t playing to survive in Tier 1. We were playing to survive against both of you.
Again, you guys caused this. We just reacted. SORs focus of BG only every day, and JQs willingness to pile on. The pressure has caused us to temper as a server, and the community to pull together.
When we go back to BG-SOR-JQ again, sure the matchups will be closer. But everyone in JQ and everyone in SOR will know deep down that in a 1v1 matchup, BG destroyed you both.
How can one server complain so much when they are winning?

so you want them to run tagless so they can run with the handful of guildies they have on? most of the forces you’re fighting in EU time aren’t organized guilds, it’s pugs following whatever commander is able to tag up. but whatever makes you feel better about your guild i guess.

Upleveled is awful for anyone who actually wants to win WvW.
If your Commander and his group doesn’t want upleveled, then you shouldn’t be there. Why are you imposing yourself on others? (In this case, probably the majority) Especially when you know you cannot perform on the same level?
People always complain when another server gets another guild to stack up a timezone, but never complain when their own servers get stacked in certain timezones.
Second and third place servers are exempt from posts critical of their coverage, everyone knows that.
Now we all know you’re trolling Mr. Pot, but I’m pretty sure we didn’t recruit anymore EU coverage. I was shocked as most other SoR were today during our server meeting that we had another EU guild join us. They do seem like very cool people however, and we do welcome them into the SoR family, so don’t get me wrong, but we did not go out searching for more EU guilds to fill our timeslot, just as I’m sure you guys didn’t go out and recruit WM/Meow (RIP) when you already had the MERC/ND blobs controlling SEA for you.
That being said, I’m really looking forward to seeing a BG 3rd place finish this week, burnout is going to suck this week and SoR is extra thirsty for tears this week.
It shouldn’t matter if you recruited them or not. Your players have said on numerous occassions that SoR would turn away any potential transfers to JQ.
The biggest reason why this is even a talking point is that after SoR’s numerous “BG should send over guilds to JQ”, SoR turns up with another guild. Specifically an EU guild that JQ has none of.
So unless you’re all giving KISS the silent treatment over there, any claim by SoR that they prefer balance in the tier is disingenuous.
Wait, SoR has another EU guild? That’s almost as funny as BG talking about they have no EU coverage.

BG only has a small group of MERC that stay awake (10-15), RK (10-20), and then HB on a night or two. (15-30 themselves, but Smokee and Orc draw tons of pugs to their tags).
It’s really not that large of coverage in comparison to what SoR has.
Really? Don’t forget all those people that pull overtimes. I see them every evening on EU time and I see what happens when I lead a havoc. You have more people available for guarding a yak as we can put into a borderland.
Without our Asian or Sea pulling massive overtimes, we can’t even get a treb built.
So, I really don’t care if it’s “only” 60 people we face.
Sure, SoR is the new fotm server and they can send more numbers than you, but it’s not a great difference if you meet 50 people on the field or 100 when your own group is about 15-20.

Do you BG guys ever complain about your dominance in oceanic and Sea times…..nah did not think so. You are dominant in certain times, we have coverage in others.
Also the times last week when i saw bg and jq zergs standing next to one another not fighting was laughable, especially in EB. Seeing two sides either side of the bridge outside Langor with no intention of fighting each other last week was a bit embarrassingly low from you lot.
Basically if you are going to make agreements throughout a week to focus SoR then ofcourse we will need a way to combat this. Jq seem happy to be bg’s lil kitten, so be it.
Anyway Iron was distracted all last week and ignored the ppt game, we will be back on it this week, so looking forward to seeing how things turn out.
If AGG, RK, HB or any others would like a gvg, we obviously need the practice so pls whisper myself or wrex.
Pretty pathetic that SoRs EU coverage (IRON) admits they didn’t even try last week yet SoR still hardcore recruited a huge EU zerg guild (50-150 active wvwers daily) to move to SoR knowing that IRON wasn’t even trying last week. Shameful turn of events.
More over, accusations of a JQ/BG team up when BG is repeatedly wiped off of SoR’s map every day? If we were teaming up the point distribution would be 250/250/100, not 300/200/100.
At any rate… JQ has no EU guilds for HB/RK to team up with, so I’m not sure what you’re getting at.
SoR getting more guilds? Ok I can understand maybe some SEA guilds or A SEA guild. But EU? Sigh Keep up the good fights though!
When RedGuard transferred to JQ, SoR’s knee-jerk reaction was to recruit? Ha! It’s pretty embarrassing really! You’d think [RG] would have shown them (and everyone else) that there is much left to learn, skill-wise.
If this week’s match up was DB-Mag-SOS, you guys will face the EXACT same problem. DB will just roll over all of you. So what’s the difference? What’s your next plan? Disperse DB also?
Same thing with any of JQ, BG, SOR or FA facing Mag and SOS. The exact same thing will happen. So what are you going to do disperse them all?

As far as low population servers are concern, none of the top 6 servers is any different. They will roll over you, period.
I do feel sorry for you guys. But it is all Anet’s fault. Instead of disperse the bigger server to fit your needs, why don’t you transfer yourself to a lower tier server so you can enjoy yourself there?
First of all, I’m on BG. Secondly, no matter where the other two servers transfer TC will still be the Tier 1.5 server steamrolling T2. That’s the problem here.
It can’t be avoided by transferring lower. The only solution is to buff Tier 2 to be competitive (and therefore glue the top 6), or disperse TC. The latter is far easier.
BG made it into T1 due to other servers collapsing as well (SBI notably). Lets wait and see what SoR acquiring another EU guild does to BG and JQ’s stability first. I think the crux of most of your solution rests on your theory that SOR/BG/JQ although a balanced matchup will always stay balanced all three servers will stay this competitive.
Granted the current T1 probably has the three servers that are more stable than previous T1 servers but sooner or later its quite likely that one of the server folds and its probably not going to be SoR.
There is a very good chance of there being three T1 servers including TC, just need to wait it out. Servers collapsing in T2 and T1 previously allowed TC to rise from their previously stuck position of T 2.5 into T2. I am sure this similar scenario will occur again.
Not very soon I don’t think. SoR was already owning EU even in the 6/17 match up. And definitely the ones prior. Now we don’t even have the benefit of RG taking some of the pressure off. It will be back to the same old, and I suspect it won’t be any different than it was last-last week.
I think the whole mass server exodus, and then inflating another server mentality is the past for GW2. Something radical would have to happen for any of these servers to collapse any time soon. BG’s HB is rebuilding, SoR just got KISS and JQ just got Agg. The last two happened even before 6/17 ended. More than ever the mentality is to stack more guilds rather than leave and start over.
And staying as a “1.5” server will only have adverse effects on everyone in the match, especially over time.
And what of us that enjoy our home on TC and want to face T1 servers as equals?
Then wait it out. Get to Tier 1.
I was only ever addressing the hypothetical solutions to balancing Tier 2. Bear in mind, even if TC gets to T1, whoever gets bumped down will cause the same problem in T2.
What remains true is that the least radical, most logical course of action for balancing T2 is for TC to disperse, that was all I was saying.
The competitive 6 servers is hopelessly optimistic, I’m afraid. What is in the realm of possibility is further detaching Tier 1 from Tier 2 and below by not having a “1.5” server. It will get stale for T1, but the system will favour gluing BG/JQ/SoR together, and keeping Tier 2/3 together. On the slim chance someone goes into T1, you’ll have a blowout for a week. But it’ll overall be more balanced than the 5 weeks of steamrolling T2 in TC’s current state.

I already posited that TC can go to T1 to balance T2, or they could go to the rest of T2. I favour the latter. And breaking up Tier 1, which is the arena for high-concurrency, international wvw, doesn’t make any sense. It’s a niche, people like it. Just like people like small-scale wvw in the lower tiers.

TC dispersing won’t fix anything. They will occasionally pop into T1 under this broken and stupid system and get crushed if they dispersed (even moreso than now).
The system itself is broken, blaming TC is not the solution.
No, they won’t. The system more than ever will stick JQ, BG, SoR together. And when TC, FA and DB (or whoever is in T2) acclimate their ratings, they will be stuck together too. That’s how it works.
On the small chance T2 pops into T1 through the RNG, it is still smarter to balance for the more frequent T2 matches, than to balance thinking, “Well one week we might get bumped up.”
So please stop bashing the people on TC or insisting that we are responsible for cleaning up your (or really ANet’s) mess.
See, I’m not bashing TC. TC is awesome, my favorite server for having CoE uncontested 99% of the time.
However, through whatever quirk of fate TC has landed itself in the position it is in now, which is problematic for players on all three servers. It doesn’t matter how they got there. They can stay there for all I care. The fact is that if we’re discussing how to fix Tier 2, you need not go further than have TC disperse. As far as logic goes, it is the best and only solution.
