As I see it, GW2 is a jack of all trades game. It has everything for everyone but isn’t meant for specialization, which is why those who prefer one form of playing occasionally but heads.
Everything in GW2 is casual. It’s really up to you to make it competitive.
To make wvw competitive it will require a very very big overhaul.
1. no 24/7 ppt.
2. wvw maps not more than 25 per map
3. smaller map sizes
4. cap on gear stats
It is pretty much impossible to balance out as it is, unless you’re in tier 1. The only solution might be to have lower map population as the tier goes lower. And a randomized map design, with a king of the hill meta.
Meaning, if you’re server’s pop is low, and you’re fighting similar tiers, having one map with one goal or two and lots of camps would probably be the way to go.
It will require redesigning the whole gw2 wvw system to make it work.
This is pretty much what gvg players want. I don’t understand y they don’t make something like it
Wvw players take a back seat to pve and spvp players for 2 reasons. Anet wants an esport so they will do what they can to get more spvp players. If that means adding something to wvw to amused them at times then they will do it. Pve players are without a doubt the largest group. But even with the massive amount of pve content in comparison to wvw they feel the need to pull in pve players more so than trying to make the wvw players happy. While the dev teams maybe separate at a design level, they are still greatly connected above that and if the big bosses say make it happen they have to do it

As a roamer I dislike the patch. Makes it hard to get around the map
It’s not just the zergs that dislike the middle. Myself and some of my roaming friends find the new update a down grade.
Coming from a tier 1 players that does mostly less than 5 man groups this new update is bad. Makes it harder to get around
This would be cool. I always thought the skrit and centar were under utilized. Might as well make another fort out of the area
@Ricky. It’s not even just that. Part of the reason its so bad is that the overall numbers are so low of players that really know how to play that they have to stack to be able to play with large groups of like minded players. Even 6 months ago you could find some really good groups down in tier 5
Even when there are “que problems” they are still better than the old normal ques. Remember 3hr eternal ques for HoD?

Maby the costs of runing servers are getting to high and they want us to stop playing because we already paid for the game

New content has hurt some groups too. The zergs don’t seem to have gotten much smaller while camp capping groups have lost out on having a esay path across the map. I personally either zerg single/duo roam or camp cap. The later 2 have been hurt.
No this isn’t some dooms day prophecy its just a fact. Wvw is slowing dieing. Look at the game from the beginning, there was a time when tier 5 servers would have 2 r more maps qued every night. Reset had every map q for every server from tier 5 and up. Go into wvw now and I don’t even have a que for the borderland on a tier 1 server at 10pm est. On reset thereight be but not during the week. I understand that people leave as games age but we are talking about. The first year there has been at least a 50% drop in overall wvw play I would guess its more like 60-70% based on what I’ve seen. It’s not like there has been a lot of new games to play either. People are just not playing as much or at al. The combination of ignored suggested and bugs coupled with context that tends to hinder the 30+ hr a week players is quickening the death of what could be a truly amazing game if given the chance to really shine
+150 to a stat is not a big deal but when it adds it to all stats it effects balance. It increase health, armor, power, crit chance and healing. If you factor in a 50 man zerg that adds up in a hurry
Ok here is what I have seen in my matchup. The new content seems to have little effect on the zerg but has killed camp capping groups. The middle is full of nothing but gank squads that can spike down a tank in less than 2 seconds. If you try to run around the middle you get zerged. The cap points themselves are kinda dull. The blood lust just give more incentives to rub gank thief. As for the area itself its not bad. I can see some decent treb spots and bunker points. As for the stat buff it seams to have no effect for a balanced match so can’t comment any farther than that.
On a side not I would like to thank you mark for taking the time to answer some of our question. Nice to see what you guys have to say even if its just to say that you don’t have an answer or that something is being looked at
I can understand the need to merge threads and delete some but sometimes it gets out of hand. There are many times the op post is very simular to another but it becomes a completely different conversation after 10 posters. When these threads get merged they kill the conversation. Some of the best discussion I have seen is 2 or 3 people just hashing back and forth ideas on a very specific part of something. When the threads are merged and there is 3 or 4 conversations going on all but one tends to die out and the comuity and the devs have lost out on what could be a very interesting and helpful conversation. That’s not to say it always happends and I know people can be very busy. But sometimes there needs to be more thought on what threads need merged
Blood lust will only stop people from throwing themselves at stuff if they care about ppt. From my experience that a small amount of people
Sup arrow cart r a bit too strong in my opinion. As a tank I can’t get more than 2 rams in before I have to fall back
It’s not the map change or cap points people are complaining about. It’s the buff. Stat boost for holding a point is a bad idea
I have said for months now there needs to be a reward/ penalty for wvw population. But I don’t think the ppt is the place to do i. I think there needs to be a reward at the end of the week based on points score in comparison to wvw population.
The problem with removing it is that there is no other way to rez except a couple of skills that rez people in down state
Ok so going back and reading some more I can see that a lot of people hear never were on the receiving end of a beat down because of the other team getting a massive stat boost. Trust me its not fun

I agree that I am working on an assumption. I think most people stop buying gems a fair wwhile before they quit. As I stated in anoth thread I use to spend $50+ a month on gems. When I quit buying gems anet lost revenue. But now I don’t buy gems anet has nothing to lose if I quit. Point I’m trying to make it that people leaving won’t hurt anet. People stopping spending money will. Anyone who plays without spending money is “dead weight” for lack of a better word.
I’m looking at it from a money aspect. If people don’t play it actually lifts pressure from the servers. Unless those people were buying stuff with real money anet is actually helped by people quitting
People leaving won’t change it. They don’t have anything tp lose even if all the wvw players quit
Could do something similar to planet side 2 where only people in the squad can see the icon and there is a squad join screen. Anyone would be able to be a commander but if only Ur squad could see or hear you wouldn’t matter if the was 30 commanders on a map it would still work
If anet wants more people in pvp they should make an arena that will support up to atleast 20v20. 30v30 would be better
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You need to have rewards based on points scored in comparison to the wvw population of a server. The reward would be given at the end of the week and would have to be something worth having
And don’t say to just not use skills cause then they will just dps u tp death.
The problem with massive confusion stacking is that there is no counter. You get hit for 5 or 6 k to remove it then they just stack it back on 2 seconds later. If u attack and try to kill them you dps urself down first

GvG zealots dominate the WvW subforums, trying to force their narrow view of the game on everyone.
Maybe maybe not. But if they are the ones posting in wvw forums then that is more or less how things should be. Feedback must be based on what people say. You can’t gauge what the people who don’t post want weather or not they are the majoriy.
I havent spent a dime in GW2 since 2 months after release
and until the day I see them focusing more in WvW and less in PvE, I wont be spending any either
in other words, i’ll never spend money in GW2 again
Yep anet had lost my $50+ dollars a month as well
I think there r more against anet than with them. A lot of people have just quit the game. My guild at one time would field 50+ every reset and 30+ every night with our record being 80 people in wvw at one time. Now its more like 20,25 on reset and 15-20 every other night. I know other guilds have had same thing happen.
I always thought the quangos were a nice feature that was never fully utilized. Same with the centars and skrit

I can say that much of our feedback gets completely ignored. You keep adding things we don’t ask for yet do nothing about what we do ask for. Most of the time we don’t get an explanation of why it isn’t done either. We as a community have ask for some things for almost a year now to no avail. When is the commander system gonna get a makeover? Or the party system? Both seem like fairly simple things to me but I don’t hear much about it. I Surw if I thought about it I could cone with many more examples of thing that we as a community have asked for in overwhelming high numbers to no avail.
Wvw isn’t second fiddle. They just try to make it more appealing the pve players
The 2v2 would work best if u paired a na and eu server. Would give both side better coverage without creating a massive que at prime time. For the most part anyways
I was just trying to make a point that to some people the ppt is the only reason to play. To them it is the reason for wvw to even exists. That number has dropped greatly but there r still people like that.
The fact is that you ask to remove features requiring more pvp “personal” skill to take and hold than zerginess, which benefit the most to small group play and which is also leading to a better balance of servers in most case-
Fact is that we ask to toggle something so a part of WvW stays legit and existant.
This which we want to toggle should also not be in the game in the first place as it will bring even more unbalance to the game mode.I remember the days where customer feedback was taken seriously and not ignored or looked down upon
GvG is not an intended or legit part of wvw. I’m not saying there shouldnt be a place for more than 8v8 or 10v10 fights (unless they add support for spvp up to 20v20 then it would be fine there) However, that place is not wvw
It would be a ridiculous twist to claim PPT is the ultimate and sole purpose of WvW. The ultimate purpose of WvW (and GW2 in general) is to have fun. Everything else, including the PPT/objective system exists to supplement that. Either it is intended or else it’s an exploit and/or against the rules. Open field fighting is not against the rules, sorry.
What about people who enjoy th ppt system the most of all the wvw aspects? I always played wvw to win. I would sacrifice having “fun” if I ment I could help the team win
It’s like most everything anet does in wvw. They don’t seam to care much if at all about the hardcore wvw players. They keep adding things nobody asked for and ignore everything we ask for
It’s all part of anet’s plan to get rid of the hardcore wvw players so they can focus more on pve.
Or just strait healing shout warrior. But yeah separate traits would be nice

The way to fix population issue in wvw is to find a reward that people actually care about then give it out based on points score in relation to a servers wvw population
Wvw has never rewarded people who play to win.
You want a subscription that bad? Just put $15 into the gem store every month. Easy.
I want a better game. Most games now a geared toward the casual player. If that means I have to pay to play a better game then so be it. And I probably dropped probably 500-600$ in the gem store in 5 months and they just went and made the game worse for me
