I think people in this thread are confusing the forum policy with in game TOS.

OP is talking about protecting his in-game assets, not forum moderation.

If Anet did all of that I bet you would turn around and say that Anet is being greedy and trying to milk their customers.

IMO, they DO need to adjust the crafting requirements down for the weapons, but other than that all these complaints boil down to, “it’s not the same as last year….whhaaaaa!!!!”

People can’t even make up their minds. On one hand they get kitten ed off when nothing new is introduced, on another they get kitten ed off when old content isn’t brought back in the same form.

Yeah, I’ve quit games from WAR to Aion to Rift. I posted a lot on the forums too. I don’t make drastic statements threatening to quit or try to drag others with me. I just stop posting and don’t bother playing.

Sure, by all means make a thread that lists why you don’t find it fun anymore and what the devs should do. But complaining without offering a solution isn’t really helpful at all.

I think there was a few hundred posts long thread with 100000+ views on Ascended Weapons. I dont feel I am able to say anything new, especially when the devs are not apparently listening.

Oh I’m sure the devs are ‘listening’ to you. But does that mean they are going to make changes? Of course not.

They’ll have open ears, but they’ll never fully commit to an action unless its reasonable and suitable for this game.

Just cause you and thousands others are complaining about one feature doesn’t mean they are going to follow through with a solution.

I thought I noticed a similar sell-off a couple days prior, but the fine data is already gone from Guild Wars trade. You can still kind of see it on GW2spidy on the night of the 12th. Maybe we will see another one tonight.

That’s a lot of precursors though. There are a number of way to explain this.

1. A person or guild engaged in a massive forging operation for (hopefully) profit.
2. Someone dumping their wares from a recent exploit.
3. Someone dumping their wares from a past exploit now that they think they are no long being watched (Godskull).

As a rational behavior, 2 and 3 don’t really make that much sense. It would make more sense to list them slowly, unless you think they will be sharply devalued soon.

My pet theory is that this relates to the buy-order bot that has camped the cheapest lvl 75-80 weapons for the better part of this year. I’ve often wondered what someone was doing with the sheer volume of tridents/warhorns/focuses/spears that they have been picking up each day, since they don’t ever seem to be being flipped (cf., common dyes, which are bought by buy order en masse and relisted in huge chunks.) Mystic forging them all for random precursors would make sense, though I don’t have any feel for how profitable it may be.

If I were a rational exploiter…

I would sell off precursors over time to minimize risk at getting caught. Besides, if I were an exploiter I most likely would have lots of gold, so waiting a bit for items to sell.

If it were a rational exploiter we wouldn’t be seeing any noticeable changes on the market. The fact that we are seeing that now could suggest that an irrational exploiter is at play (just like how the siege dupe has been around for months but got found after a noob exploiter indirectly exposed it).

But anyways, the chances of it being an exploit are just as equal as someone selling off their inventory of precursors for whatever reason.

I’m not a TP high-roller like Vol or Wanze, but in my opinion prices for Set 1 minis will rise, but not by a huge margin. They can still be created by forging other minis together (even Set 2 minis, apparently), so supply will never dry up entirely. This makes them not very good as a long-term money maker, although they may be good as short-term investments by buying now and then selling after a period of a few months.

Not only that, but unlike other items that you can invest it, mini are not soulbound/accountbound and will always remain in the true supply (unless people start forging Set 1 minis)

If prices rise way too high, people will start offloading their excess minis which will keep the price down. The only way I can see the prices of mini’s going outrageously high is if someone decides to hoard many minis in an attempt to control it (almost like the Forge Conduit)

edit: I should also note that I generally don’t invest in the mini market because I really don’t understand it (and probably never will). I just can’t get my head around the demand side of minis and how some players are willing to pay over 400g for some :\

Yeah I get that, after all I like having the prestige of multiple legendaries.

The thing about minis though is there are just sooooo many of them. And unless you closely follow the mini market, you can’t tell the difference between an expensive and a cheap mini by looking at it.

For example, if I had to compare the Chromatic Ooze mini with a Tequatl mini, with 100% confidence I’d say the Ooze mini is more expensive due to the chromatic effect. But nope, it’s not!

This change will benefit WvW overall.

It will greatly help those who run organized trains.
It will not help those who pug.

But we all know that organized players are better and contribute more than pugs, so the drawbacks are minimal.

I should also note that I don’t belong to any WvW guild but I always run with organized WvW guilds, following them on TS. What I do is simply invite other pugs.

Not sure why you guys think they introduced the loot table to ‘random mobs’.

Precursors have never dropped before from specific places or mobs. They have dropped from every mob, from WvW, from JP’s and from dungeons.

No historical achievements available – why should they put these? This is a new event
No previous year rewards available – why should they do this? Scarcity is good
No previous year gemstore content available – they still have time to do this
Ridiculous requirements for Hween weapon crafting – I agree, it needs to be fixed
More RNG-reward based weapons. – Not sure why you are surprised by this. People don’t like it but it’s working for Anet. They should keep on doing it to fund this game
Far fewer candy corn nodes (cheap explanation as well) – I agree
No new clocktower rewards/achievements – They don’t need to add to this

There’s just something about this Halloween LS that makes me happy. Whether it’s the atmosphere, the jokes of Mad King and his son…

I don’t know, I just love it.

I remember rangers being a top gank/high burst DPS class in Aion. Killed a ton in the Abyss (PvP).

Would be nice if Rangers were like that here in GW2. Right now when I think of a ranger, I think of an RP’er running around with a useless pet. Or a bot.

Skins give a free use the first time. After that, you can continue to apply the skin to different items as many times as you want, but each time it will require a transmutation stone (level 0-79 items) or a transmutation crystal (level 80 items).

Skins themselves are not reusable.

I think you can reuse them though if you have a transmutation splitter, which is a gem store item.

There is nothing wrong with undercutting by <5%

Set 1 is now exclusive. And it’s meant to keep the mini market from being diluted and introducing some value to those first set of minis.

It’s extremely risky. Maybe the shield is still a rare drop and can come instance chests or at the end of the tower.

not just omega golems. lots of things sell for a lot less than it costs to make them. My theory is that there is next to zero demand and people make a lot of them, possibly thinking there was demand and later found there wasn’t, or made them when there was demand but since dropped.
Orichalcum Warhorn Mouthpiece is the most extreme I’ve seen. current sell listings are at 97c. To make it requires 1 ori ingot, which requires 2 ori ore, which at cheapest will cost 5s15c buy order. so it costs 10s30c to make and when you sell it you’ll get back 82c, a 92% loss.

That’s not comparable. Omega golems are items with high enough liquidity and high enough demand. Not to mention the sudden drop in price.

I can’t see how they could fix this other than a full rollback, which is unlikely.

The key thing here is opportunity cost.

Time is money and bank space is money.

If you have candy corn stacks take up all your bank space and alt inventory space it’s not worth the investment.

Of course, Candy Corn would have been a great short-term flipping item (and by short time I mean no more within the hour of the announcement).

But if you have been hoarding Candy Corn for a year waiting for it to jump from a few copper each to 1s each, you haven’t really made much in retrospect.

Contrary to popular belief, there are some differences between the three big servers. My opinion could be wrong here since I don’t zerg, but here is how I have seen T1 play out over the last 10 months.

Blackgate and JQ have smaller guilds which sometimes run separately, and sometimes run together to create a massive blob. SoR tends to run one blob more often. This might vary depending on timezone, so what I’ve seen mostly applies to NA. Running in a smaller group might sound appealing until you get run over by a 40 man zerg a few times, so each has it’s merits.

SoR is arguably the most competitive server, with Blackgate in close second. JQ is competitive too, but they don’t seem to be all about winning in T1.

BG by far has the better smaller roaming guilds, although SoR is starting to pick it up a little. JQ is still a bit behind on the small organized roaming front. If you are a roamer looking for fights, join JQ.

With leagues coming up, all three of these servers are getting transfers, so things will probably change a lot soon.

If you believe SoR blobs any more than the other 2 servers you’re delusional. BG and JQ blobs just as much if not more.

The stigma is absolutely true. You have not seen blob until you have seen SoR blob. They never send anybody, they send everybody.

Yep, when SoR gets serious about blobbing our roaming gameplay can end quickly. Not because we get zerged but because EVERY single player on the map is in that blob. During that time period when CAPS and lulz seemed to stop playing, there were nights when we literally couldn’t find a single SoR player that wasn’t with the zerg.

This was before the Bloodlusts though. CAPS and lulz seem to be coming back, and SoR is adapting well to the new meta of roaming groups making a difference. =)

I’ve been on SoR for 2 months and so far I’ve enjoyed it. I refuse to be a part of any WvW guild (I prefer having freedom to play when I want and with whom I want) but thanks to the open TS many of the large guilds invite you to work with them and participate in strategy..

Please note (and this is probably for BG and JQ) that if you’re not a team/server player then you will most likely be shunned. I wouldn’t say TS is mandatory, but refusing to be in TS doesn’t help your server and in some cases loses battles.

It doesn’t help when you have a 30-man blob and only 20 are in TS while the other 10 serve as rally bots by failing to coordinate and move properly.

For the most part, many of the guilds are drama-free it seems and most are respectable. Once (if) you transfer and get verified, feel free to just pop in the guild channels. You can get an idea of the type of people they are just by listening in.

I’m sorry but if you’re going to sell your orb stock after orb prices in general have risen roughly 30c, you’re not making much. Emerald Orbs have risen 30c but if I were to sell them now I would only make about 70-80s per stack, which is horsekitten for a short/long-term investment. Orbs alone don’t trade often to warrant flipping. Maybe if we were talking about T6 mats, but not orbs.

Another very important note on orbs:
Now let’s say that Anet does come out with a recipe for orbs. You may think the market is flooded with supply to keep the prices down, and that’s fine (the majority of the true supply would be held in banks and inventory). It would probably take a week or two to consume through the true supply as people use them for crafting and they are permanently destroyed from the economy.

Now, what if we reach that point where we run out of supply of orbs that you can’t suppress the price by dumping your stock? When we reach that point, I bet the price will skyrocket up pretty fast. It will skyrocket up to AT LEAST 6s.

Why? Because the only reliable way to create supply of orbs is through crystal promotion. You need 5 incandescent + 2 crystals. 5 Dust at current prices is appx 4s. 2 crystals, at vendor price is 2s.

That’s why I’m investing in the risk-free crystals as well. Obtaining orbs is very difficult and time consuming, and I’m taking advantage of the fact that everyone is dumping ‘useless’ orbs even though they are extremely hard to get.

Once people catch on and realize that they are in fact valuable and hard to get, they will go towards more guaranteed (and expensive) ways of getting orbs.

And that will increase dust and crystals up past 6s.

And who knows what price it will really end up to.
