I’ve undercut by well over 50g on precursors when there is a 100G gap. My general rule is to undercut by half of the difference between the highest buy and lowest sell.

In one instance, I sold relatively fast and the price went back to the lowest seller and stayed there for a bit.

In another instance, despite undercutting by 50g, I got undercut by a further 30g and no buyer was willing to pay my price for a week.

I wouldn’t invest in SAB ever again, especially considering the blue skins are now seen as inferior and not as numerous or alluring as the Trib colored skins

What’s the alternative? I can’t think of anything better
-Limit the time spent for any player in any zone and then lock them out?
-Kick non-guesters from the server everytime a home player attemps to join the map?
-Remove overflows and encourage hundreds of players in zone resulting in massive lag

Blackgate is the first but it’s not the last server to do it (Desolation). As soon as other servers start to catch on the strategies, other servers will follow suit and there will be fewer guesters on BG (they will be spread out)

Nearly all sigils have fallen in price since ascended crafting came in. I think it has to do with everyone trying to salvage rares (rather than forging) in order to get essence of luck.

Extra rare sigils start to flood the market, pushing the price down. Furthermore, this makes it cheaper to forge more exotic sigils but that pushes the price down as well.

I too find the doom-sayers to be quite funny.

Hardcore pvers finally have a boss that takes strategy to kill. Meanwhile the casual pvers come and try to take this hardcore content and try to convert it to casual to cater to them.

I’m sorry but if you want something easy, go do the other +dozen metas in game. Teq is now reserved for those who want a challenge and want to be richly rewarded for it. If you don’t want to dedicate the time and coordination, then tough luck.

Okay, the haze is very noticeable (actually, I think it’s a bit more obnoxious than I’d like, but that’s a different topic), I’ll agree with that … but shine isn’t that noticeable unless you’re in a very very dark area, like the dark room area in the EB jumping puzzle or the flickering lights room in the Ghost Pirate’s jumping puzzle in Lion’s Arch. Otherwise, the feature doesn’t POP out like most others. Maybe it’s my graphics settings, but I don’t notice it much, except when the pages are turning … even then the brightness isn’t as noticeable, especially during more heated situations.

It actually shines pretty well in FGS to the point of blinding you. It’s not as bad as Cobalt, however.

Champ farm, meta events, gathering

It takes 15 minutes to do it. If you win, you get massive rewards. If you lose, well tough luck, you lost 15 minutes.

What’s the problem?

You really shouldn’t convert laurels to gold. You can get gold at any rate but laurels are 1 per day and 10 per month.

It’s comon sense, I don’t need to remind everyone before hand.

It takes forever to rez someone in combat who is dead. And it’s extremely selfish to expect players to go help rez you in a danger zone when there is a WP a minute away.

Don’t be lazy, cheap and selfish. Take the WP.

Of course I understand why overflow exists, and how overflows cascade. Saying I’m not a dev or a tech doesn’t mean I’m computer-illiterate. But unlike many players who think they know the “simple” answer to fix a problem, I know better and can’t really offer any suggestions. I can only express my wish for ArenaNet’s tech folks to improve the situation.

Doesn’t ‘fix’ anything but it shows why the overflow mechanic is in the game and the best alternative.

If we didn’t have overflow, you’d have hundreds of people on one server. They tested this already in beta and realized with that many people, game performance gets ruined. You’d have everyone with massive lag and unable to execute skills/movement.

So what would you prefer?

Have 200 players in one server and have a guaranteed chance of failure because the lag is horrendous?

or

Have 100 players in one server with a reasonable chance at succeeding while the other 100 people are on overflows and they also have a chance of succeeding (assuming they are coordinated)

It’s a suitable reward. Not sure what you’re expecting.

I’m really happy we have a metaevent that has a high chance of failure. If anyone wants easy content, there is well more than two dozen faceroll metaevents out there with appropriate rewards for effort.

You are forgetting the shine it leaves on the ground when wielded, as well as the haze around the shield (which I view separately than the glow of the pages itself)

I have seen this loads of times now and I fail to see the logic behind selling an item for way less than what you can actually get for it.

I do that sometimes. Three main reasonable reasons why you undercut by a ton:

1.) You are desperate for gold and willing to trade profit for liquidity
2.) 30G for that item is probably massively inflated or not worth it. I remember seeing a rare lvl 80 berserker greatsword selling for 60s when other similar rare greatswords were at 20s. I undercut all the way to 30s because 60s is unsustainable and I would waste my fee)
3.) Some non-liquid items (such as exotic weapons) do not sell or get listed quickly (hence non-liquid). Therefore you want to price it so that it encourages buyers to buy at a much lower price, as well as prevent other sellers from quickly undercutting.

Sell it of course. I don’t know why you would even consider holding it. The miniscule amount of profit you could make doesn’t justify the risks.

Vol – I completely agree, they were amazingly coordinated. One reason they were able to be so coordinated is that guilds can bypass the overflow by joining up on other’s party.

Well it’s not so easy to bypass the overflow and have everyone get in. Go look at Scarlet invasion. There is a small extra amount of space after the server is full, and that is filled up by manually joining through party. But there is a point where that option doesn’t show up since the server is filled to the max.

Remember, they had over +100 on the community voip. If you are on voice coms, it doesn’t matter if you’re on the same guild or a bunch of pugs. It’s easier to coordinate PvE than WvW.

All that BG did to succeed here was coordinate. Not skip through overflows, not have whole bunch of PvE guilds work on their own. It was a massive amount of server coordination from everyone willing to go on coms and listen to commanders.

Why does your temple zerg have more importance and priority than those farmers who clearly want to play in that zone for hours while you merely want loot for the half-hour it takes to do temples?

“Anet I want you to offer items in the gem store that many people will buy, including me! For example:

It’s either this:
- Have overflows and have, say 20-50 people miss out on an event while 100 people complete it on the main server?

or

-Have hundreds of players come together on one map and experience horrendous lag for everyone

And then people here will complain that there is very little new content and that they’re bored.

They do that all the time. There are separate teams for handling bugs and creating content. We get the best of both worlds by having them contribute in each release.

You have to be the lvl for whatever that zone is. This is permanent content, though, so you don’t need to rush.

It’s good that some items are rare.

Laurels are valuable because they are time-gated.

Jewelcrafting is a good alternative if you want to settle for exotic jewellery and want to save your laurels.

The funny thing is this could actually create a more interesting, experimental game. Not just “need more zerk gear”. Anet could actually create vastly different bosses requiring different styles of play…just like that game…what was it called? Oh yeah guild wars.

GW1 armor was more narrow in stats(akin to sPvP armor) and was easy to obtain. This made gearing alts and play style diversity possible and necessary. But how many of you have 3+ characters you’re going to give multiple sets of ascended weapons to? What about ascended armor? Even full sets of asc trinkets isn’t that easy.

Older games got around this “1 set of max gear per character” rather easily- the gear was simple. Weapons gave power/mana/intelligence/magic or whatever and armor gave armor. There’s no issue for gear when it’s straightforward. But creating a game like GW2 and making it time consuming to get max stats with so many gear options inevitably limits those options and the entire PvE game.

You don’t need full ascended to experience content in this game. Rares can work well for you and you can get a whole lvl 80 rare set in under 5g.

Rodgort has them they need to make rodgort incinerator and predator unique aspects in their footfall it doesnt make them feel special to have the exact same footfall big whoop my hand has fire or there is a flame colored aura around me that’s not making them unique now bolt footsteps still seem small but the fact there is electricity sparking everywhere makes it sexy why can’t the 3 fire weapons get a unique bit to them to make owners feel special and unique?

You are overestimating the # of people who buy gold (legit or unlegit)

I think you are underestimating it, but there is a degree of speculation to this of course.

I use four considerations
1.) Gold buying in non-F2P games is low
2.) Anet’s gold banning system is incredibly sensitive (discourages people since they can easily be caught)
3.) Anet’s gem/gold exchange system (a safer and legit alternative)
4.) Gold in game is easily acquirable

From that I think the # of people who buy gold in non-legit ways to be a very, small minority. Probably less than 5% of concurrent players (although those 5% probably buy a ton of gold).

Of course, when we consider those who buy gems for real $ (not including gold to gems conversion), I’d wager that to be 20%.

yeah. Just give me crapton of obsidian shards to play with. I used my whole stack I got from opening Orrian boxes (when I was making my legendary I tried everything to get Charged lodes). Balthazar temple ir rarely open or it bugs out also.

This is why I told everyone to not waste karma on Orrian boxes. But people kept doing it ‘for science’ and for easy gold. But when you consider the exchange rate of gold/karma, it was a terrible tradeoff.

Now with karma being nerfed and obsidian shard uses being boosted, those who wasted their karma are left behind just as much as newer players.

As other people have said, farming specific t6 mats is not a good plan since it is incredibly inefficient. But if you really insist on taking the long route…

I suggest guesting on higher-tiered servers and doing temple runs. i.e. TC/NSP

Moldy bags are a good source or t5/t6.

As I have just come back to GW2 after 6 months break, this wasn’t really what I was looking for in terms of enjoyment. I’m going to take another 6 months break now and take my cash with me, I hope when i come back to try things out again the game still isn’t impossible to play.

Perhaps, but on the same token, these events may be harder, difficult and longer to complete, which will make players want to go pursue more efficient ways of making gold.
