Ascended gear in WvW is irrelevant. You will not notice the difference, especially when you consider the other bigger variables, such as orb buff, party buffs and blob size
If it’s irrelevant then what’s wrong with making it really irrelevant and disallowing it in WvW?
because the effort to code all that is not worth it? Let alone all the people who invested badges/laurels for ascended gear. We want to shaft those people?

Sorry guys, forgot about this thread.
… cut to save space…Don’t add another unknown variable plz. This topic is not about “how good you are in tagging mobs”. It is about MF%. Assume one man is farming with 0% mf, then with 100% mf with same numbers of tagged mobs. Now you can remove your “i tag more mobs” factor since it is same man in both situations.
And now people say: “We don’t see significant increase in drop quality even with 300% MF”. So? Does it work? You say “yes”. Try to prove it without your “you are doing it wrong”.
I feel MF% has too little impact.
It’s not an unknown variable, it absolutely is involved in MF.
You could have two people have different experiences with MF. One person may have a ton of drops while another person may have few. That alone doesn’t give enough information since we would have to know the sample size, which is directly related to the # of mobs you tag/kill.
So what’s the deal, does anyone know if JQ is guaranteed to win this week, assuming at the least that T2 will never beat T1 and no other T2 will beat TC?
If JQ places 3rd in this match-up, does this give a chance for BG/SoR to win the league?
Karma train in this week? You cray?
SoR nearly lost Bay T3 keep on JQ BL.
We knew JQ was there the whole time but we were actively taking Garri and were relying on using the Bay WP. Unfortunately the WP never popped and we almost lost it, circle went up to 50%.
Quite disappointed to see an SoR guild participating in a GvG at this time
I’ve been in queue so long that I forgot what BL I queued up for. Green or blue? I dunno, I’ve been here 4 hours now.
I believe fotm gives the most karma upon completion for certain levels.
grinding =/= farming
If you farm long enough you’ll notice the difference and the drops.
And just cause you spend, say, 5 hours in orr doesn’t necessarily mean you are farming efficiently. Tagging the most mobs during each farming session is important too. As a guardian there are several skills at your disposable (outside of the customary staff 1)
Sorry guys, forgot about this thread.
Yes it’s all anecdotal but I don’t believe in the “account flagged” stuff people talk about. Doesn’t make sense at all.
MF gear works but it’s not the only thing you need to consider. MF works on kill, meaning the more mobs you kill the more chances you get at higher rolls.
Compare these three playstyles:
-shelt/pen farmer (pre-nerfs)
-dungeon runner
-WvW player
Assuming all three players wear MF gear, who will have the most rolls with MF loot? It’s obviously the first one. That’s because the KILL RATE PER HOUR is the highest out of all three.
If you kill 100 mobs in an hour, that’s 100 rolls with high MF. If you kill 20 mobs in an hour, that’s only 20. So it MF is not the only thing you need to consider.
In fact, I’d rather have low MF and lots of mobs to kill rather than high MF and very few mobs to kill.
That’s why some of you may have had less exotic drops than I have (which is the point of the screenshots). I’ve had well over 80 exotic drops from the start of the game because I’m a hardcore farmer – I make it a priority to kill as many mobs as possible.
Another important thing to note is that not all areas have the same drop rate. Remember the second southsun event with Kiel? There were a ton of exotic drops dropping, mainly with the pre-fix “Settler”. The drop rate was pretty high and this was reflected in the price of exotics, which were under 80s at that time.
Right now it seems that the best place to farm is the Lab, but I think the drop rate there has been heavily nerfed with the ton of porous bones you get.
How do you know the queues are caused by achievement hunters and not by WvW’ers who want to play a match-up that suddenly counts?
If there were no DPS stat then everyone would flock to the next most important stat – defense/armor/vitality.
Then we’d be starting all over.
Completely agree with the Thread Starter. GW was known for being fair and not being grindy like all other MMOs out there. People can play those MMOs, if they want hardcore, but GW should be mainly for casuals and enjoy the world… of course with some option for hardcores like legendaries, but not things like a whole ascended set, which give advantages
That’s nice and all but GW never was an MMO.
I really hope the crown jewel of winning seasons isn’t stacks of ascended materials.
I have at least 5 stacks of fragments and ores and I don’t need to be making ascended weapons since I have legendaries.
Funniest thing I read in regards to applications:
“I hope Sarcx applies and gets rejected.”
much more profitable? What exactly are you doing roaming that is more profitable than tagging in a zerg?
A few things
1.) There is a player limit on the map. However, once the map is full it will create another instance. Think of it as overflows
2.) Based on the limited descriptions of the map, there isn’t a whole lot of room to move around (i.e. no rolling plains). So it’s not exactly beneficial for GvG
CORRECT SURVEY HERE:
Can you share some type of features on this map?:
1.)Are there going to be camps, keeps, towers? Control points? New stuff?
2.) When you successfully release Edge of the Mists as a map to join, is it going to be constantly updated and act as a ‘beta’ for new ideas?
I think I should come up with a 3-person havoc squad and farm people at JP’s
Since stomping gives points now (with at least 1 buff), we can contribute
I must wonder how many players may end up preferring this map over the borderlands, especially if wxp is easier to farm there.
With that Blog post, i can see sky areas, bridges… i care less about WXP as long as it is fun
… “Mojo is Rising”
That’s such a waste of a perfectly good map… why have it overflow only? Will we even be able to join it if there’s no queue..
yes.
If the scenery is open and all nice I could see it being very popular.
Especially for servers that are getting stomped, organized guilds can come over here and farm wxp, assuming they can get in together.
I must wonder how many players may end up preferring this map over the borderlands, especially if wxp is easier to farm there.
Great. An entire map developed for one tier. I guess we know where the priorities lie now.
Also, more stacking of T1 while the other tiers die off.
See? Someone already assumed it to be true. Unbelievable.
Assumed what to be true? It’s designed to counter queues. Queues only ever exist in T1 outside of weekends (T2 also). I don’t expect someone from tier 1 to know, but you have to realize there are times when low tiered servers have a total of 5-10 people in all of WvW. Adding another map on top of the 4 that already exist would kill game play even more in these tiers.
The best thing they could do for lower tiers is to close down BL’s and EB during the ~6 hours that is not prime time, and let everyone play in this map instead. Ether that or close down BL’s and let everyone play in EB (something they should have done ages ago).
Just because it’s designed to be most helpful in combatting queues doesn’t mean it’s only going to be available when queues are there.
Seriously, ask yourself why they would implement a map that would only be usable during prime time and on reset night?
All I have to say is: it’s their own fault for following an “inexperienced” commander.
^
If you spend enough time in WvW you can tell who is a competent commander or not. On SoR we have this kitten y commander who frequents EB and is there everyday. But no one follows him because everyone knows he’s terribad.

Hope there’s an option for non queued servers to try out the new map. I don’t think that T1 should be the only opinion heard. Would be better if you randomly got assigned a color when your guild entered the map.
Now that you mention, if this is only available to those who are in higher tiers, then if the new borderland is fun enough, we will witness another mass exodus from those servers who are already with their WvW community hanged by a thread…
No need to push something that will not be true. You would be crazy to think they would restrict content to specific servers. This is how rumors start and people get all angry over nothing.
This sounds very interesting. Now you can actually play even if all the maps are queued, and you have the ability to test new changes to the game while being able to provide feedback. I wonder how you can be one of the so-called ‘accepted guilds’ though.
Unless they are going to have an access point just for this map for accepted guilds I would think one of the criteria would be you are on a T1 server.
I like the idea, just think it would have been nice to have it in place today for start of the leagues and that they werent restricting it to certain guilds. Why would any WvWvW guild want to be in overflow? Even a guild fielding 50 people would want to be in main WvWvW, so assuming some don’t get in at reset or whatever when there are big queues there might only ever be a handful of players in the new map?
Doesnt add up to me, maybe someone will explain it and when it will be available.

Guess this might be the map?
While it does have all the different types of landscapes, that image has been around for quite some time.
There was a datamined map image on reddit a few days ago of a new map. Speculation was that it was for GvG, but it could be for this. We know they have been working on it internally.
Hope there’s an option for non queued servers to try out the new map. I don’t think that T1 should be the only opinion heard. Would be better if you randomly got assigned a color when your guild entered the map.
Yeah this is something that they would have to consider, especially when it’s hard to get into an overflow outside of prime-time/reset night.
http://www.guildwars2hub.com/features/previews/world-versus-world-edge-mists
Meant to combat overflow but is not exclusively for overflows players. Unfortunately, it won’t have an impact on your server score. Think of it as a place to do WvW activities and a beta.
Now I remember one of the WvW devs saying there will be no content updates for WvW during seasons, so don’t expect it anytime soon.

how do you know if you send large amount of gold it could result in a ban?
Despite Anet claiming that it’s not automated, I strongly feel that sending large amounts of gold results in an autoban/flag. That does not mean you are guilty, however.
If you send an inquiry and tell them your innocence (and they can check the logs and trace your transactions) they will reverse it, usually within a few days.
If you want to get past the autoban (this is not an exploit), simply transfer gold through guild banks.
“Is there any deterrant to this?”
Don’t be rude to devs.
Yes. Read my sig.
I think there’s a better analogy than pay checks… its called “get in line”.
The items are flowing into the game, and there is a line that determines who gets them first. The people in front of you are willing to commit more coin than you are. There are people behind you too (seething at you the same way you’re seething at the people ahead of you). The line constantly changes – new people decide they want in and are placed according to their willingness and ability to spend. Other people drop out, deciding to chase other things. The line doesn’t have a fixed front – there is no guarantee that when you amass 500g, you get the shiny. The only guarantee is when you get to the front of the line, you will be served.
I think most people just don’t like being confronted with the inescapable fact they are not special. That other people want what they want and are willing to exert greater wealth to get it. That their “heroic” farming efforts over the last 3 hours/day and a half/two-weeks/whatever is not really any better or more efficient than the effort lots of other people are putting in and that it didn’t catapult them to the front of the line.
It’s still valid to question how many items are introduced into the game and consequently how they are priced.
If they introduce only 1 then only the person willing to pay the most will get it. If they introduce 10,000,000 then everyone can have one for whatever they are willing to pay. They obviously pick somewhere in between. It’s reasonable to ask why they picked the point they did.
FYI: it’s a game, not a simluator for you to live out your 1%er fantasies.
I’m sure they picked this point because they want to have a balance point of exclusivity/balance.
This game already has exotics weapons that touch upon each scale. You have the super rare and expensive skins that require legendary gifts. You then have vision weapons or other cheaper 100-200g exotics. Then you have the weapons that can be easily crafted or dropped in large #’s, and they fall under 5G.
This game revolves around novelty, not stats. So if you want to have the best looking or matching skin for your character, you’ll have to work hard for it.
If you want to be as strong as the guy next to you then it doesn’t take much.
Wow…Vol! I’ve been following your posts for a long time because they are usually helpful and productive….but lately! Why the hostility? The OP was requesting an official response to something that matters to him or her. The responses are way too reminiscent of “Stormwind Trade Chat”, which is not just a reference to that game but any game where the community is so hostile that new players get a terrible first impression of the community.
Besides, your opinion is contrary to ANet’s philosphy of equal multiple ways to do anything in this game. And, I think he’s justified in addressing what he or she sees as a disconnect.
I have no opinion on the matter other that lighten up, maybe take a break, and let an official respond.
Unfortunately this is my natural discourse after having to read through pages of unreasonable and ludicrous posts (but I don’t think the tone of my previous posts were condescending at the least)
I just don’t get the mentality that players deserve items cheaply and quickly.
There should be scales for different difficulties/playstyles, and there are.
Hardcore? Go for legendaries?
Dedicated player? How about you go for the 100-800g skins
Casual? How about go for the karma/dungeon/3G exotic weapons.
(edited by Vol.5241)
Wait till ascended armor comes. If the recipes are like the weapons that should help remove excess.
^
When Ascended Armor comes and it uses sections I know for sure it’ll be blown through in an hour or two. I don’t think the price will go up outrageous but I could see it go up to +20c
When will people like OP learn? Maybe they’re doing it because it’s, oh, I don’t know – making them the most money?
“you lose out” isn’t acceptable. Its a design flaw.
Maybe it’s a flaw in your point of view? Entitlement much?
I want a brand new Ferrari to drive. I can’t afford it because I get this tiny little paycheck, and that’s totally unfair that I can’t drive around in a new Ferrari. They should sell them for $1500 each so I can buy one.
^^^
It’s a similar mentality to all those people who complain about bonuses for executives.
“I deserve 200,000K a year even though I’m a low-level employee that is easily replaced”
Guardian gets you more loot bags and has pretty good survivability.
Yeah I’m still befuddled why they have yet to release armor sets on the BLTC other than the old 3 we have there.
That’s why they have a very cost-prohibitive server transfer fee, especially for the high-population ones.
I totally understand where you’re getting at – I just don’t see any viable solution
If you don’t introduce any sense of tiered rewards for seasons, then what’s the point?
If you don’t introduce a season/tournament, then we have very little to play for and it’ would be the same game as it is in release? At least this provides some excitement
You can make gold in this game quickly once you reach 80.
You can make gold by:
-doing dungeons
-gathering select materials (t2/t3 logs for example)
-champ farming
-doing metaevents
-playing the outpost by flipping
You most certainly won’t make a ton of gold crafting (if you buy your materials). The barrier to entry for crafting is very small, so you always have competition.
If I were you I’d use that 100G to buy a good armor set that will take you through dungeons.
I don’t know the current Berserker (dps stat set) prices at the moment, but a fully geared Berserker character can be at least 25G.
If they are intentionally farming each other than that goes against the spirit of the gamem mode and should be banned. Other games do not encourage such a gamestyle.
1.) The DR mechanic and it’s impact on players who wish to farm
2.) The lack of new and varied armor sets
3.) Rewards for time and effort
edit: (Any chance you can also open a topic for the economy/BLTC?)
1.) The WvW reward system’s handicap on alts
2.) Skill lag in large fights in one map
3.) Commander functionality and usefulness
The Elitist Quaggan [TEQ], a BLTC guild has decided to transfer to SoR to spread the wealth!
“you lose out” isn’t acceptable. Its a design flaw.
It’s not a design flaw. It’s part of the game.
It’s no different than having to spend 5x more or go through a much harder route to get the best items in game.
If everything were to easy to acquire in a game, then what’s the point?
dat gems 151515
These prices are determined by the market. If you can’t afford it then tough luck. If you don’t want to put in the time or effort, or if you can’t, then unfortunately you lose out.
Thankfully there is an option to catch up if you are so inclined, and that’s by buying gems and selling them for gold.
That’s why the gem store is there – it’s primarily marketed to casual players who don’t have enough time to grind out the in-game gold to buy stuff.
