28th Patchnote dissapointment with Guilds.

Vorch.2985

I’m quite happy with the patch, and I don’t believe they promised that feature with guilds.

That being said, I do believe that knowing the last log on of people in a guild is VERY important and needs to be implemented.

Would you buy an expansion?

Vorch.2985

If the expansion involves an increase in the level cap and thus the subsequent obsolescence of all previous dungeons, content and gear… then no, I’ll quietly bow out and not look back. I came to GW2 to get away from that type of power creep / forced content obsolescence. If it exists here, I won’t have any reason to stay.

Now, if the expansions are less like WoW and more like GW1, where the level cap remained stationary, all content remained viable (people still run underworld today… that was introduced pre-2006!), and simply add more story, gear skins and mechanics, I’ll be all over that expansion. Probably collectors edition, too >_>

They stated that level caps would be increased with expansions before the game even launched…

And more recently:

And yes, as stated prior, I will be purchasing expansions.

January 28th Update Anticipation Thread

I think a lot of us were expecting the timeline to be a little more like this:

Friday – Finish patch
Saturday / Sunday – mild QA / downtime / load patch
Monday early morning – Patch goes live
Monday – have all day to fix any unexpected problems

judging by ANet’s deadlines, I was expecting 23:59 PST

If they say something is going to be released by a certain month, don’t expect it before the 25th at the earliest

i love how we gota checkmark unfair policies but Anet cant even provide maintenance times for patching, one day gamers will stop being stupid and start asking for fair treatment from this kind of companies

Are you serious? The game has almost zero downtime and when the game patches, usually by the time you download the patch, the servers are ready for you to log in.

Maintenance times for games where downtime can be 1-5 hours is important. For a game with almost zero downtime, not so much.

Assume much? Zero downtime eh? What server have YOU been playing on? My server has had plenty of downtime. But I expect that- it’s a new MMO, nature of the beast. =/

Haven’t seen a server shut down since MAYBE the beginning of October.

You usually just log off and log back on to patch the game. That’s not server downtime.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news go there and you will see many downtimes, and some crashes that happened last week to -.- ignorance is a blessing for some

ahhh, i see. my bad, but thanks for the rudeness.

The reason I haven’t seen one is b/c they tend to happen at 5am PST (8am EST). So i guess that would inconvenience those across the pond.

LF: lvl 80 Guide - What to do now?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Vorch.2985

Vorch.2985

First: Get full green gear. That means all your armor, weapons, underwater weapons, and jewelry should be green and level 80. These are very cheap.

Second: Try a taste of everything. There big four atm (before this laurel patch) are dungeons, fractals, WvW, and farming.

  • Dungeons: I would recommend doing all the paths in Ascalonian Catacombs (in the plains of ashford) a few times. This should get you accustomed to the enemy strength in dungeon and let you adapt accordingly. CoF is another popular one, but most can be tackled. gw2lfg.com is your friend.
  • WvW: You should be in a WvW guild to really enjoy this. I personally find that small teams of 5-10 are the most effective, especially when breaking/making supply chains. You can also move around the map without being as readily seen, but can also take on smaller encounters. Running with the zerg occasionally is fun as well.
  • Fractals: A bit harder then dungeons, but also a bit more rewarding. After FotM level 10, you will begin to see a condition called agony. In order to defend against it, you’re going to need ascended gear exclusive to the FotM dungeon. At the time of this writing, that means rings and back pieces.
  • Farming: Search for Orr farming guides as well as Rich Orichalcum ore farming guides.

If you choose to go for a legendary, PACE YOURSELF. Also, create the mystic clovers first

Hope this helps.

Use the pokemon method to prevent griefers.

  • Cast off your line.
  • Wait 5-10secs for a prompt (exclaimation point over your head or some other cue)
  • Press the appropriate key within .5-1 secs to reel the fish in.

This prevents the player from simply afking so they don’t get griefed.

Wouldn’t work, the coast lines are lousy with skelks, drakes, or undead. We’d get aggroed 10 times before we could get a cast off.

Anet would have to change A LOT of spawns and aggro ranges.

Or just have designated fishing points with no enemies within 50 yards. They could even be gated in places like Orr.

I think it is funny to see people that were kicked from dungeons on last boss, because they can’t kill him in 3:30 minutes. I like to see how they defame developers for theirs lack of respect and professional skills. How devs close topics because theirs players base is from stupid kids that can’t assess theirs sense of humor about “when it’s done”

What do you think guys?

He’s saying that when people is doing their instances, they get kicked because of that wretched “New build available. The client will restart in 3:30 minutes”… without any previous warning.

That shows small respect for the player base. If I only have 3 hours to play everyday, i could plan my schedule if i knew what time the game would go updating. Like every other gaming company (that have maintenance and updates scheduled and have them informed to the playerbase).

I don’t mind if they don’t the exact time, but a simple : “Hey would be around 12pm PST”. I would be perfectly fine with that!

Ahhh, I see.

That’s a legitimate concern, then. That’s the only reason I could see someone needing an exact time for the patch, though.

Seriously, this thread @ every patch

Which only goes to prove Anet couldnt care less about their players. Every time all we want is to be kept up to date!
Every time Anet slap us in the face, keep quiet, dont make posts (on any media) and people get annoyed.
Surely somebody at Anet has the brains to realise players/customers like to be kept informed. Its simple good customer service, something Anet repeatedly FAIL to do !

…really?

They gave a date…but because they don’t give you the exact hour of the content release, they hate the people that give them money.

Because despite all the content added in this patch (which will be the smallest of the next 3), to prove they care, they must provide an exact time with each patch release.

…really?

Daily Laurels - Missed Dailies

I know in GW1, you could stock up to 3 days worth of dailies and go back to do those old ones when you get the chance. If you tried to get a 4th one, you’ll be asked to either complete one of the older ones or abandoned them in order to take on the new daily. It seemed like an interesting compromise and allowed me to take on the challenges within a reasonable time but still acquire new ones if it interested me.

Yup, it seems like a reasonable compromise to me. Allows people to have a little more flexible schedule, but also requires that they be completed within a period of time in order to reap the full benefits.

If Anet makes a serious mistake in the next 3 months, then it’s going to seriously effect their ability to sell their expansion to people.

If Anet stays the course they are on right now, they will maintain a slow increase in players while having decent player base.

If Anet does well, they are going to keep players, have a better environment for new players, and have players return. They also will have much better expansion sales (assuming a price of $40-50).

This is all imo.

Giving them any sort of special quests or features in GW2 would be turning them into items that have intrinsic combat value. I don’t think it at all wise for the Gem Store to be selling them if they provide any sort of in-game benefit beyond looking cute, as that basically amounts to selling power/features instead of selling aesthetics.

I do understand where you are coming from: some of my ideas (mostly the in-town swiftness and MF) would be very controversial.

However, I think the looting and accesorizing ideas are fine Especially if miniatures are available like they were for christmas.

In addition, minipet battles seem to be coming in the form of polymock:

The population will go up and down

In this case however, the population seems to be heading only downwards.

Nice thread necro…anything to push your views, especially prior to an update.

Concurrent users holding steady (increasing, if you believe the ANet devs). The problem is getting people out into the world.

They will take the first step towards rectifying that tomorrow. If GW2 is dying…then only WoW is alive.

Whether its available just in fractals or not its still vertical progression and still against their original manifesto.

It’s not. Tomorrow they’re allowing people not running fractals to get ascended gear and then they’re going horizontal from there.

Colin said no power creeping in 2013 and I think 2014 is about right for an expansion, so it sounds like power is effectively plateau’ed and there’s no vertical progression.

I was also extremely suspicious when they announced the ascended tier, but it turns out that it is exactly what they said: a new tier of rarity to make the bridge between exotics and legendaries. Exotics are stupidly cheap to craft while legendaries cost 2,500 gold in the BLMK.

You can only get Ascended Rings and Amulets (sort of) from the new token system from daily/monthly achievements. Except these “Ascended” items don’t have any infusion slots. They are just stats. Meaning you still have to do Fractals to get Infusion Ascended items. And the Ascended back slots are still Fractals only. You can’t get those outside of Fractals.

And they said they will not add a new tier this year. They will continue to add the rest of the Ascended gear, but no new tier this year. And they also said they are going forward with Vertical Progression. So that means more tiers in the future. Meaning this isn’t the only tier and it will not plateau.

I’m ok with higher tiered infusions. I’m not ok with another stat increase. The only stat increase that I could deal with would be accompanied with the level increase that they already stated.

I love how we are talking about about the grind for ascended gear the day before they release a patch to minimize the grind for ascended gear.

I also hate ascended gear, but I’ll give them a pass THIS time…they said it was to rectify the time requirement btwn exotics and legendary weapons.

And getting exotics in this game is very simple…

  • Do all story mode dungeons (use gw2lfg if needed)
  • Do 1/2 the explorable dungeon paths in the game.
  • Use money and tokens earned to have full exotic set.

Ta-da. You can get a full set of exotics in a week playing 2 hours a day in either AC or CoF.

All WvWvW Titles Unreachable

Title requirement at 1 kill every hour:

  • 250,000/24 kills per day = 10417 days (approx).
  • 10417 / 365 = 28.53
    That’s about 28 years and 6 months.

Here’s something a bit more depressing:

  • 250,000/150kills per day = 1667 days approx.
  • 1667/365= 4.5 years

So doing the equivalent of 3 monthly requirements every day would require 4 years and 6 months to achieve the title.

I THINK a better title cap would be anywhere between 10,000-15,000. I think they MEANT 25,000 and added a zero

Exotics are more than enough for all of PvE (except fractals). Dungeons can be beaten with all green gear…very easily.

ANet decided that they needed a tier between legendaries and exotics, so we got ascended. Some like it, others don’t, but what’s done is done. However, Legendary status will ALWAYS match the highest tier.

They have since stated that they were wrong to roll out ascended gear only attainable in fractals are are working to remedy that situation.

They have also stated that there will not be a new tier for the remainder of this year. Some have taken that quote to mean there will be a new tier later, but as there is no confirmation, it is a rumor and best and intentionally toxic at worst. This is coming from me, a player who will leave or play SUBSTANTIALLY less if another tier is added.

Yes, the game is primarily geared toward attaining the skins you like the most. They made a mistake with the time requirements between legendary weapons and exotics and are attempting to rectify that with ascended gear.

However, at it’s heart, it’s a skin hunting game. That is also why I am frustrated that we don’t have more armor skins added during the holidays, but they should be adding more skins as time goes on.

How about skipping level 1-30?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

To the op: Craft to level 30 (I did it to about level 40).

Also for nomenclature:

  • Leveling curve = time required to increase one level (i.e. 2-hours)
  • Experience curve = experience required to increase one level (i.e. 250,000 exp)

Leveling curve in GW2 is very flat…the time it takes to get from level 20-21 is about the same as 79-80 doing the same activities.

Experience curve in GW2 shows standard exponential growth.

Yes, this was already explained. I just like having it in a simple format.
