Resurrecting downed people gets me killed.

If you die trying to ressurect someone, then the risk was not worth it.

As a general rule, I only resurrect DOWNED players, and not DEAD players. It’s much faster and I’m not as vulnerable.

Also, if the DOWNED player is fighting, try killing his target. It will rally him and you won’t be vulnerable at all.

Lastly, keep in mind there are traits to help you while you are resurrecting people. I have one on my guardian that auto-casts a bubble whenever I begin to revive someone.

This Game Is Nothing But Frustrating After Level 40

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vorch.2985

Vorch.2985

Zone after zone is almost complete devoid of any players, whatsoever. Yet there are countless group events…

On my first level 80, people were like “lol ur GOIN 2 FAST STOP THE RUSH!!! WOW PLAYER@@@”, so I can excuse this, to a degree. But there is no excuse now. Plenty of players are level 40 and above (many people such as myself have at least one 80), but these zones are still completely empty

The lack of a subscription fee lets Guild Wars 2 get away with a lot. No endgame content, terrible voice acting, poor class balance, etc., are all to be expected from a buy to play game. But when you can’t even level up without avoiding half the game, there’s a problem

You ARE playing at a time when most of America (and in fact, other places in the world) are not even awake. I would check out the official Guild section and find an Aussie guild and server as they will actually be playing pretty frequently at around that time.

I will have to disagree with you though: you can do all “map completion” goals without a single other player. Not exactly ideal, but I’ve done it plenty of times on a warrior, ranger, and mesmer. Taking out champions is a whole other story, but you don’t need to kill them to level up.

If you feel that content is still too hard, I recommend checking the profession forums to find a build that suits your playstyle.

If you really want the company of other players while leveling up, I would suggest WvW.

Your last paragraph seems to come from a place of anger, is subjective, is not constructive, and really seems like bait, so I’m going to ignore it.

Anyone Quit?

No…I’m not quitting.

For your issues, I would consider joining a Dungeon clearing guild on your server. You can search for a guild here:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds

As far as dungeon difficulty goes, may I recommend check out the GW2 Wiki and youtube video guides before attempting them? Those can really make what seems like an impossible encounter much more manageable.

You may also want to consider checking out the profession discussions on this forum for ideas on building a better, more efficient character that also suits your playstyle.

I hope that this post was informative and instructive.

I would actually have another warrior with you. If one runs Hammer/dual axe, the other can go Bow/Warhorn and add A LOT of support, control and cross profession combos.

I would have the bow/warhorn bring banner of defense and have the hammer/dual axe bring all signets.

Really repetitive

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vorch.2985

I play because I find it fun. That, and I love crafting my own armor with mats I earned myself.

Also like gaming the market with crafted materials.

I find doing a dungeon here and there to be a nice break as well. Mixing my armor sets so I’m not doing only one dungeon over and over again.

I find some DEs to be repetitive, but alot feel pretty epic. Failed a few and you really see the repercussions (stood on a bridge…failed to defend it and pirates blew it up with me on it.)

I’m thinking about delving into WvW in a little bit. It’s unbalanced warfare. I may make some consumables for my guild so that we can roll over other people.

But yea, mostly I play to have fun. So I’m enjoying it. Truthfully, with most MMOs, you will have people leave in the first 2 months. After that, you have your core audience. Then it is up to the developers to either grow the game or let it decline.

GW2 seems to be one that has a really solid foundation, flaws that are manageable and fixable, and a vision for the future. If you don’t like PvE, WvW, DEs, crafting, exploring, or PvP you can always comeback when something new is introduced.

However, I’m here for the long haul.

You can still make PLENTY of money:

2. Do alternate path dungeon run (if it takes >30 mins for one of the runs)
3. Repeat

OR

1. Do dungeon run
2. Do DEs for (or anything else) 10-15 mins
3. Do Alternate path dungeon run (if BOTH paths take less than 30 mins)
4. Do DEs(or anything else)for 10-15 mins

GW2 is Fun-Centric, not Reward-Centric

“IMO, Anet is promoting the concept that everything you do in GW2 should be because you enjoy doing that thing, not because you’re trying to get rewards for doing that thing. "

But if you enjoy farming, grinding dungeons, dungeons in general, or any of the things they’ve nerfed recently then you are kitten out of luck.

The idea of playing for funs sake makes perfect sense, right up until the point where they started making it impossible to do things that for many players were fun!

Adapt. Trust me…there are plenty of ways to make money in this game without spending a dime in the cash shop OR exploiting. No, I will not elaborate.

Im not after money. Im just really losing all sight of doing anything interesting.
100% world completion done
4 crafting professions 400. And the others are just gold sinks using materials I dont feel like grinding out 300 more of…
Legendaries take an absurd amount of grind which is, oh hey, capped constantly so I couldnt actually work towards them if I wanted to.
Dungeons at their peak are fun the first time, decent the second, reasonable the third, and boring by the 4rth. And most dungeons are not at their peak.

WvWvW for me right now is either waiting 3 hours for a queue during the day, or playing at night like I usually do, and just stomping the enemy teams :/

And im not really a big Spvp fan.

Frankly speaking, there’s not actually anything fun for me to do right now. The only goals I could potentially have are being nerfed one by one (anti farm codes, lessened dungeon rewards, making dungeons more tedious and unfun [and no I dont mean magg])

I know one of my friends who has put the same amount of time as me in gw2 and put more time into gw1 has already given up on the game. And its looking like I might be doing that too soon. Fun for a first playthrough, but nothing much to keep me interested right now.

Condition Builds- Not fun to play with I'm sorry.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vorch.2985

Vorch.2985

I’m mainly talking about PvE here but condition builds suffer from two pretty big drawbacks:

You do very little damage to structures. Killing a set of centaur weapons, or a wall, or whatever it is takes 5 times longer than a power build. Is this intended? Is it meant to be fun?

You become useless very fast in world boss/big boss events. The cap on burning, poison and bleed is reached in seconds and your damage is useless.

If you have 50 people with a power build hitting a boss, then you have 50 useful players contributing to the fight.

If you have 49 people with a power build hitting a boss and 1 person with a condition damage build, then you have 50 useful players contributing to the fight.

If you have 50 people with a condition damage build hitting a boss, then you have 1 useful player, and 49 useless players contributing to the fight.

This is obviously exaggeration somewhat, but the point remains, condition build suffer huge diminishing returns based on how many there are, while power build suffer none.

This would not be so bad if arenanet didn’t railroad every build into either power or conditions, afterall, gear stats are made so that going both power AND condition damage is very inefficient.

Most gear is made up of 3 stats at the end game. So, we’ll use that as a template.

If your stats are 1000 power, 1000 precision, 1000 toughness, then you are going for a power build. Assuming that 1000 power= 100% increase in damage of power builds, then overall that set gives you 100% in a power build.

If your stats are 1000 malice, 1000 precision and 1000 toughness, then you are going for a condition damage build. Assuming again, that 1000 malice= 100% increase in damage of condition damage builds, then overall that set gives you 100% more power in a condition damage build.

However… if you go 1000 malice, 1000 power and 1000 vitality, then you are not going to get a 200% increase in damage, you’ll end up with 100% again, but you don’t have the privilege of another non damage stat such as toughness, precision, healing or others. This is because weapons seem to be done in a way that is either: 100% power/malice related, or 50/50 per weapon. Which means that in order to benefit from 1000 malice and 1000 power, you need to have either a pure power weapon, and a pure conditions weapon, or two hybrid weapons, which leads to power giving you 50% power increase in such a build, and not 100% as you are only benefiting either only 1 weapon, or the half of two weapons.

And so… my point with all this rambling is: you are railroaded into either power or malice builds, and malice builds ain’t as well done as power builds.

Please fix this by making individual burning/poison/bleed, instead of a single one. Maybe in dungeons it can be different, I don’t know, but in general, its not great.

And furthermore, allow ‘objects’ to bleed/burn/poison.

The human tutorial boss is a good example of this. He is the only one that can’t be damaged by conditions. How is that meant to teach newbies about the game? Most of the players go human and yet humans are given a sub-par starting boss as it does not involve the mechanic of conditions.

I agree and disagree with you.

In most PvE and WvW with small scale battles (between 3-10 players), I find that my condition builds are quite viable. HOWEVER, I do agree that once you get to major events with 20+ people, you are essentially useless. I try to solve this issue by switching to a damage set for large scale events, but otherwise, I stick to condition damage.

Use Obstructions in Dungeons=Profit

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Vorch.2985

Vorch.2985

This may only apply to a few explorable mode dungeons, but my guild has found that the use of obstructions between you and ranged enemies makes the dungeons SO MUCH EASIER.

We cut our time and deaths in CM and TA explorables by about 30% (ballpark), but I think that this is a very MAJOR mechanic that people are not using and may be a contributing factor to dungeon difficulty.

Using walls/obstructions with ranged weaponry (also speccing in condition dmg/vitality/toughness) allowed us to avoid damage without needing to dodge most of the time. And as enemies come closer to our wall cover, we have 2 warriors take turns using their knockbacks, knock downs, and stuns (does not always work, for some reason, mobs will randomly ignore knockbacks…wierd).

idk if other people already found this out or not, but we are going to keep tweaking our runs based on this strategy:

1. Party takes cover
2. ONE PERSON pulls 1-2 mobs
3. Cripple and shoot mob
4. Go BACK to cover everytime mob shoots a projectile (use dodge if you feel u are too late)
5. When mobs get close, bring Hammer/Rifle warriors (preferrablly with “Kick”) or another class with plenty of knockback to force mobs away from cover spot.
6. Repeat.

Sorry if this is vague or weird, but we were really excited when we started doing this

Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc

A More Perfect Tyria: User Generated Content

in Suggestions

Posted by: Vorch.2985

Vorch.2985

ANet has had limited user generated content in the past with GW1 in the form of weapon creation contests. However, with a persistent world like GW2, I think that ANet has the opportunity to REALLY offer players a method of creating world by players, FOR players. User generated content can add nearly infinite replayability, add a new layer of the game, and have content created that is both lore friendly AND actually SAVES ANet money in development costs.

Below are my ideas on implementation. They are by no means perfect; they are just a guideline to show you where I’m going with this

Bring back Weapon Creation Contests (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Design-a-Weapon_%282007%29)

  • I’m sure these are going to make a comeback, but I’d rather have them sooner than later. From the Draconic Aegis and Celestial Compass to the Bone Dragon Staff and Frog Scepter, players have proven again and again that they can make weapons that are desirable.
  • I would really like to see these contests occur annually in GW2. I would ALSO like to see the winning items drop in various dungeons to spur people to revisit them.

Add Armor Creation to Contests

  • Adding user created armor would be a welcome change. This armor would have to be available to all races -OR- a winner/winners can be chosen for each race.
  • Awarding winners with unique minipets would probably be enough to get people participating.

User Created Dungeons

  • Yup, that’s right. A dungeon creation kit would be a welcome addition to the game.
  • The upfront cost of such a kit should be alleviated by the reduction in cost of content creation. (it can be as simple to use LittleBigPlanet’s tools, as robust as the GECK for Fallout, or anywhere in between)
  • Utilizing the chaos and vastness Mists would make sure that even the most fantastical dungeons can have a place in the lore. Anything can happen in the Mists, so why not have a portion dedicated to things the players want to happen?
  • Let a merchant or repair person in the dungeon be named after the contestant winner or at least named by the contestant winner.
  • Letting players vote on their favorite dungeons and dungeon mechanics will not only provide a truly unique gameplay experience, but it will ALSO ensure that players get EXACTLY what they want.
  • For a kicker, make some armor and weapons created from contests exclusive to these dungeons.
  • Further ideas include user created Dynamic Events, Housing/decorations, Zones, and MORE!*

In short, ArenaNet has the potential to utilize the Mists as a huge, lore-friendly playground for the players that can generate content almost as fast as they can consume it.

I hope that they take the opportunity to use it!
