“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
You are all alone…
I just collect all the different shades of black, white, green, pink, brown, blue, and yellow.
I’m completely normal
You need to pay 100g in order to form a raid group and from what i have seen it’s mainly WvW guilds that got it.
All you need is communication actually, you can go on map chat and try to gather as much people ,make different party’s and raid orr,no 100g needed.
That’s what I was trying to communicate (if poorly XD)
with the grouping system as it is, there’s nothing preventing people from joining a ventrilo or mumble server and getting 20 people to play through Orr like traditional raiding content. And this game requires so much investment into the combat, using the map chat or a team chat would most likely wind up killing you.
And I would like to say that Orr IS soloable…albeit sometimes debilitatingly difficult from both a skill and cash stand point.
However, I really think that with an organized group of 20 would make this area alot more tolerable…maybe even fun! (except maybe Malchor’s Leap)
Yup go to Frostgorge, fun well designed and action filled.
Orr… is just… Melchor Leap especially is horrible
Frostgorge is amazing.
Until Orr is fixed, it’s actual quite a cool place to hang out.
Where are they?
My main character (level 62 warrior)
Got two characters that are decendents of my “elonian theif” from GW1, also black, and my previous main.
Isn’t she sexy
Orr seems to be very solo unfriendly. PUGing is possible, but VERY time consuming and can quite often fail.
So why not play through Orr like a raid?
I would think that a 20+ man organized group should be able to tackle this content, especially with team builds.
Has anyone tried this?
…come on, guys. Are you really taking ravin seriously and then juxtaposing his personality to the rest of the community? Just look at the posts…
Really?
Music is almost all great, and the VOs are good for the most part as well.
However, every once and a while, you get a REALLY bad VO that is extremely jarring -_-
I make money by NOT farming the higher level zones. Since most rewards scale (though not to 100% of your level), I farm zones from levels 35-60.
The enemies are easy enough to take down so you get rewarded faster. And as long as you rotate your enemies and areas every 15 minutes or so, you shouldn’t run into diminishing returns.
(protip: Don’t hurt one enemy at a time. If you are farming, make sure you have plenty of AoE, take on as many enemies as you can take down QUICKLY at once, and then kill them all at once. For instance, don’t kill one enemy with your greatsword warrior…pull a bunch with a rifle/longbow, get them all together, and then crush them all at once)
Also, make sure to sell the crafting materials you don’t need for a tidy additional profit.
There are OTHER ways of making money using the market place, but i don’t want to outline them here for fear of losing a method of making money.
Hope this helps.

It’s not just map completion—there’s STILL no guest feature to play with friends on other servers, and putting a cooldown on server transfers means I can’t play with my friends anymore.
This is a really dumb move.
Shouldn’t you be on the server with all your friends? Can’t you coordinate a common server?
I understand your frustration. However, the situation in WvW was running rampant…
Warrior- 9/10 (62)
Mesmer- 8/10 (32)
Ranger- 8/10 (32)
Guardian- 7/10 (31)
I bought the collector’s edition…it may be WAY more expensive, but at least I actually got SOMETHING (awesome statue, tin, and Best of OST).
I feel bad for the DDE purchasers who regret it, but you COULD read the description of each item before you bought it.
Well, it looks like new dungeon changes are incoming:
I’m not sure if it’s tomorrow, but it looks like they are making tokens accountbound (instead of soulbound) and INCREASING the amount of tokens per run.
I agree with you OP, support should be rewarded.
And ANet is working on it. Trying to find the post now…
Ranger or mes (haven’t tried ele).
Once you start traiting for you clones…my gad, it’s awesome.
Yea it looks great, I would love FPS style mouse movement in this game, but I’m not going to chance getting my act banned for using it.
Using Combat Mode appears to be allowed:

@OP : Because they figured they could sell dyes in their cash shop.
Making Money > Catering to Players
Huh…if that was true…why bother making discoveries or crafting available from your bank?
Try Combat Mode 1.0. Brings TERA-esque combat to GW2.
Topic from GW2Guru:

Based on that, I would recommend that people who want to try a more visceral and natural kind of combat give it a look.
It appears that it may be OK to use the mod
Here’s the GW2Guru topic with Gaile Gray’s response

I love it.
Does that happy face mean raise this forum’s happiness score? If so…

1% chance to cause physical damage to your opponents in the real world.
Anet are proud of what the dungeons are. They want you to have to repeat it 50 times. They think this makes the gear “worth it”.
The fans aren’t justifying their sub fee, they’re justifying their hype for so long. They’re trying to internally rationalize in any way they can that the game is good.
They lay blame on any scapegoat they can find, be it “scrubs” “noobs” “whiners” “wowpandas” whatever they can think of no matter how tenuous.
The game is already turning out like TOR, where the majority of the people still playing are diehard zealots who cannot bring themselves to admit that the game is a shallow and tedious experience at endgame.
Anet doesn’t care. They have our money.
This is an example of a post that offers no constructive basis whatsoever. Where inherently anyone who would disagree with the poster would be considered a fanboy by the poster’s own definition.
This is why so many people are defensive, even when a post IS constructive. The majority that I have seen are along the lines of this one.
The poster could have easily stated “I think that ANet should lower the amount of runs required to gain dungeon based armor. That would satisfy alot of people who have found this system to require too much effort for too little reward.”
Instead, you have what is in quotes.
(edited by Vorch.2985)
The forum community is VERY different from the in-game community.
Firstly, I am NOT equating constructive criticism with hostility. Constructive criticisms are those that add to a conversation, present a problem, AND present possible solutions. Hostile posts only seek to point out flaws and any thing said to the contrary is labeled “fanboyism” or “trolling” (popular words here, unfortunately).
People tend to be hostile towards the game for a few reasons, though:
1. They truly like a different game and do not want to see another in the same genre succeed. These individuals must often be reminded that it is OK to play and like multiple games within a genre.
2. They came into the game expecting X and got Y. In some instances, X was advertised and these people have a right to be concerned. In others, X was never advertised and in fact goes against core mechanics and philosophies. Those complaints make no sense.
3. Some are simply using the forums to vent. It really helps them feel better. And that’s OK…to a certain extent. However, it more often than not results in name calling, and that’s where it becomes counter productive, because EVERYONE winds up getting their feelings hurt
I generally applaud constructive criticism…but many…MANY of these posts are inflammatory. They often begin with “fanboys” or “fans” and are meant to bait people.
ANet does not allow third party programs. However, if you have a suggestion for something, you can take it to the suggestion portion of the forums.
TBH, I don’t think you’ll be getting a damage meter as they can be as divisive in the game as they are helpful in certain situations.
I am gonna be kind and say simply this.
I don’t want that kind of trash in this game.
That is all.
That doesn’t contribute to the conversation and is not constructive in the least.
While not all rewards are scaled to your level in lower areas, many are, especially those associated with group events and involving chests.
I would like to see a scaled up karma and copper reward. Not enough to take over high level content, but at least enough to justify the waypoint costs when going to help people.
May I ask what you wanted to be able to do as a small guild that the current system hampers? I’m curious as I’m not too familiar with the system despite being in a guild.
Here’s my take:
The game was originally intended to have optional farming (which it still does). It also offers methods to reduce the tax of farming through magic find armor and materials. It was working as intended.
Then, bots came into play. They used the magic find materials and wrecked (and are still wrecking) havoc on the game. ANet, in an attempt to stop these bots from destroying the economy, instituted the anti-farming code.
This hampered the bots, but it harmed legitimate players MUCH more.
There are, of course, methods of circumventing this code (farm one zone, run to another after 25 minutes, and then rotate your crops), but what ANet did only partially solved the problem and at the expense of many players.
They implemented the code because they cared about their players, but only wound up causing further harm and not enough good to come out of it.
I’m still playing the game, of course, but ANet needs to figure out a way of getting rid of the bots AND keeping their farming community relatively happy.
And I trust that they will. Just takes a bit of time.

Saying, just go pvp at 80 and you’ll have fun is a cop out. I play 2 hrs a night and I’m level 60. I figure I’ll hit 80 in a week or two. So that’s a around 1 month to hit max level…kind a sad if you ask me. Yes, I’ll try the dungeons, but knowing what I know now, there is no way in hell I’ll be running dungeons 50 times for some gear that’s not really any better than stuff I can buy…just a different skin. A new skin is NOT worth the time to do it, sorry.
There is no excuse. They made leveling much too fast.
Max level is not the ultimate goal of the game. It really isn’t.
I’m not saying that you’re playing wrong or that rushing to level 80 is playing wrong. What I’m saying is that if your only goals in GW2 was to get to 80 and have max armor, you’ll be playing this for a short time.
My personal goal is to first max all crafts, then become a guild officer and offer armor crafting services for free up to level 50 for guildies and then just the cost of mats afterwards. After that, I want to max all titles at a rate of 1 every 1-2 months.
Because of these goals, my experience will last many months.
lmao. that’s funny.
Wait, are people expecting to labour in a game?
I thought this was made for fun.
It is made for fun.
However, some people want rewards with actually playing the game. Like wanting to win the superbowl while never playing football.
There are legitimate concerns about the risk to reward ration (you can get more rewards from hearts than you can spending 15 minutes downing a champion enemy, dungeons needing more incentives) and these concerns are fine. However, what SOME, not all, people want is all get everything in the game while investing a significantly low amount of time.
Which is why I think ANet needs to put a “I won the Game!” title in the cash shop for 800 gems.
Well, since you don’t split exp between players, you can kill a mob twice as fast for the same reward as if you did it alone. That’s a bonus, in a way.
^This. Since you get the same rewards regardless, you should do as much content as you can in a group.
I would reformat this post as a suggestion and put it in the suggestions forum. This would be a VERY useful tool, especially if events appeared as local time.
Sure, ErkiB.
Asura storyline (for me) started with an invention running amok. I thought that the entire storyline would be goofy, but there are some deeply sad moments between a married asuran couple (I won’t ruin it for you). I also find Zojja to be quite practical; even when she’s emotional and acting illogical, she KNOWS she’s being emotional and illogical, but doesn’t care (poor Snaff).
Sylvari (so far) is a bit harder to tell without giving spoilers. I will say that I enjoyed the green knight storyline and my girlfriend enjoyed the white stag story line.
I think a plausible solution that retains the integrity of the ANet’s “equal-footing” policy would be to implement achievement specific armor and weapons.
Imagine a weapon or armor set exclusively for 100% world exploration, attaining slayer titles, or just reviving people? Using a system much like the Hall of Monuments would enable these skins to be applied whenever you want.
This would help players feel distinguished from others while keep the playing field level.
But if you want to feel the difference between you and other players, try WvW
Already gave my plus 1, but it’s good to see that this is at least getting some well deserved attention
I don’t want anyone to leave…but I WOULD like people to adapt.
You can’t go play chess expecting it to play like checkers; you can’t play Scrabble expecting it to play like monopoly; so why do you expect to play GW2 like every other game?
THAT BEING SAID, there are issues with this game: bots, economy, tradepost, bugs. balance, risk vs. reward, etc. These are serious, valid concerns. What I don’t understand are posts that demand the removal of downscaling, DEs, or other fundamental mechanics. I could understand posts talking about IMPROVING those features, but simply removing them is like saying that you want to put sails on a new car because you are a fisherman.
ANet has been listening. Check how many blog posts they’ve had since launch. Check the twitter entries. The issue isn’t listening; it’s speed of implementation. People are expecting things to be fixed within hours rather than days. This is a huge freaking game in its first legs; give it a moment to stretch.
Basically…voice your opinions but BE RESPECTFUL; be critical but BE CONSTRUCTIVE.
…and USE CAPS TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS, lol
I think you are being a bit abrasive, OP. Don’t stoop to the level of others.
What I think ANet will have a challenge doing in the future is keeping in line with their current philosophy AND giving an olive branch to players from other games and genres.
Different personalities make the world go round. There is room for compromise with more traditional players without alienation of those who like the game in its current form. GW2 has an excellent foundation…we’ll see if ANet can build bridges in the coming months or if they will build content suited only for their core fans.
Asura is tied with Sylvari for me, then human and Charr. Norn is the least, but it’s still ok, imo.
It takes a bit as they like to confirm that each bot report. However, bots are the single most crippling thing about this game right now. They are the reason behind the drop in rewards. I hate them with a fiery passion.
But they ARE apart of 99% of online games. ANet needs to handle them much more quickly and/or get some professional help from people who can take care of the issue.
God, I love constructive criticism. This post is refreshing: it by no means bashes ANet, GW2, or players. It just poses a problem AND, most importantly, possible solutions. THIS is how you voice your problems and concerns.
Thank you very much, OP.
1. The camera’s max distance is actually greater than it was originally. However, I think a few more meters wouldn’t hurt, especially for Norn and Charr.
2. This can be adjusted in the options menu
3. I don’t experience this, but have heard of many people who do. I really can’t comment.
4 and 5. Completely agree. Especially on 5.
6 and 7. Again, have not experienced these issues.
Personally, I believe that the Combat Mode Mod Demo takes away most of the glaring issues with the camera by removing the right click and having the camera fixed on the user’s back.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BpdgW_G4FyU
However, it IS a mod, so ANet would not approve of players using it. They are aware of it’s existence, though, and hopefully will consider utilizing something similar.
OP…first of all, please read your first 3 sentences. Does that come off as someone wanting a civil and constructive conversation? Imo, it REALLY doesn’t…
However, I would ask you to try a dungeon out first to really understand why the combat system has received much praise as well as much criticism. IMO, it’s close to being balanced (not quite there on some classes/builds), but the only problem with it is a lack of proportional risk vs. reward system.
Outside of that, I quite like the combat on my warrior, ranger, mesmer, and guardian.
Would be awesome to have a personal place in our home instance. Also a place to put our achievements and trophies
I would like this. Would be great to have trophies like this in your home instance.
I agree. Lovely game, btw. But making someone switch to the losing because their opponent decided to quit…seems beyond silly.
You can OFFER people additional glory or something to entice them to switch, but don’t force it.
I agree with Xericor…it’s a work of art.
I’m actually taking a break. I need to do well in school, lol.
But yes, I am enjoying my time in GW2.
I think the class structure, DEs, and downscaling really make this game unique. Once more DEs and incentives are added, I think the downscaling and combat are really going to shine.
MKT’s return will be glorious
I wonder what else they will add…definitely some new DEs will be appreciated as well as incentives for high level characters to revisit old zones.
The world is beautiful.
DEs, while flawed in many cases, are an EXCELLENT foundation. I want to see them take mechanics even further and offer more incentives to revisit old zones.
I like the combat, but I love the crafting.
I made a post like this before. I would delete it as I got an infraction. i don’t think we are allowed to post any player names…regardless of whether or not they are bots. Send it directly to support and you can have the discussion here without the player names posted.
