“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
I can understand adding agony resistance or other resistances to the new tier, even though I would GREATLY prefer that resistances be tied to a fractal related title instead.
However, I really can not understand the need for a statistical increase for armor. Can someone explain this to me? Try to be civil and level headed…
I’d prefer them to double repair costs (discourage dying) and cut travel fees in half (encourage people to go places).
I don’t think the Jan-March patches will rake in hoards of new players; rather, it will keep players who are playing atm and possibly players who have taken breaks.
We will have to wait for a true expansion to come for an influx of brand new players. If the patches do what they’re supposed to, then they should prevent THOSE players from leaving either.
This is, of course, assuming the patches do what they are supposed to.
Taking a break for a week or so. I usually do some dungeons, work on maxing exploration, or bs in guild chat.
I do WvW until my monthly is done. I have 8 lvl 80s
As long as it’s civil AND constructive, it’s for the good of the game. People point out flaws because they care (mostly).
The problems usually occur when a) people start name calling or being generally rude; b) people start posts with "anyone who doesn’t agree with me is a “fanboy”/“troll”; or c) people don’t really want opposing opinions in their threads.
No clue. Haven’t heard much about the extended experience.
Last time I heard something was in september over 2 years ago.

-Guild Halls
-Player Housing
-Bug/Dungeon exploit squashing
-Class Balance
-More armor/wep skins available with karma
-More armor/wep skins available from TP (like the current armor skins)
-In game CrossServer LFG
I know they are fixing the way fractals work anyway, so I won’t add that to my list.
Because of what I’ve seen from the FotM, I look forward to the mechanics in future dungeons.
The current ones mostly seem like a dry run. It would be great if they implemented improvements to them, but if I don’t see any by the end of march, I’m not gonna hold my breath.
By I do look forward to seeing what they do with new dungeons going forward.
On a side note, I notice that some players don’t really care how fun or boring something is: if it has awesome drops, it’s awesome; if it has sub-par drops, it sucks.
I’m hoping that these issues will all be fixed by March. Luckily, there are no major competitors being released from now until then.
To be clear:
The person in the OP was banned…then after 2 days the ban was lifted.
Everything after that is speculation on the part of the OP on how ANet will handle similar cases in the future.
I think a lot of people are just assuming he got banned and can’t play anymore…
I’d like to see new craftable armor and weapon skins as well as new karma armor and weps.
I would also like the ability to purchase skins for future use functioning like the Hall of Monuments.
Guild halls and player housing would be amazing as well.
But really, what the game NEEDS right now are new PvP modes, updates to WvW to keep it fresh, reasons to go back to other areas, bug squashing and class balance.
Intriguing question…i have no clue, lol.
And I would like to see some more logical immunities in the game (flame imps immune to burning, ice elementals immune to freezing).
But really, idk XD
I think you are just struggling with new game mechanics. If you are new to the game, stick to 1 or 2 mobs per pull. Also, if you are not moving, you are dying in GW2.
And I’ve played 7 classes to 80 and crafted my engineer to 80…some classes are easier than others, but all are perfectly viable (though i hate my ranger…idk y).
Gratz.
Game has a lot of issues still, but even more potential.
Can’t wait for Jan/Feb/March updates.
monthly…achievements…are…optional
If you need them for a legendary or some other goal…just do it.
There is no need for large group content to be instanced, imo. That is the most exclusionary concept of raids.
There are already dungeons that do this. All were asking is to make the groups inside them larger so we dont have to split up.
.
I would be ok with multi-team instances that require 2, 3, or even 4 teams of five to coordinate in order to complete them (the more teams, the harder it would be to implement). This would keep enemies balanced to 5 man teams while giving people who love raids the mass coordination they desire
However, I am adamantly against large 10-20+ man teams in instances. In these large groups, individuals tend to work less as the expect the rest of the group to pick up the slack. This then leads to people asking for dps meters and the like to make sure people are all contributing (people already asking for these now…). It also allows the slackers to receive the same rewards.
It also leads to even more exclusionary behaviors such as requiring the showing of build and equipment (things that are already happening in 5-man groups).
With content balanced to smaller groups, you don’t need to have add-ons and the like to know if people are pulling their weight. The group simply fails. As such, you need everyone to be much more active. Sure, there are going to be people who contribute more to the success of the group. Still, if you have 2 or more of these individuals, the group will struggle and quite possibly fail.
You could grab the commander title and have a group take on a temple of the gods. You can even argue that there should be more content in the PERSISTANT world that requires complex coordination of lots of people.
Or you could make an argument for dungeons that require two 5-man teams to coordinate with each other.
However, I don’t think that GW2 should simply slap on raids. It’s better to offer something unique rather than go blow for blow with more established games.
Instanced Dynamic Events would be a unique raiding proposition. Imagine a raid where parts of it affected other parts. So for example if you put down some extra mobs in a side area at the start it cuts of reinforcements for the third boss. Or the resources of a mine can be rerouted to your party so you can make a boss easier.
As for the outdoor stuff i dont think they can make it difficult enough whilst keeping it inclusionary for the outdoor world people. Whether or not its instanced your still saying to people cant just join in and help.
I’d actually like to see them add more difficult elements into the persistent world and see what happens. I don’t think it would alienate people; rather, it would provide those who want a more challenging experience what they need.

The game has as much grouped content as you and those you surround yourself with (guild and friends) care to do. I am really opposed to having too much forced group content in order to achieve things in MMOs. Yes, it’s a multiplayer genre, but we all have our own goals, priorities, and time constraints.
And yes, the VAST majority of this game is completely optional. If you don’t want to do something, you never really have to.
An argument I could understand is that there is not enough FUN stuff to do. That argument, while subjective, can be valid. To that end, I would recommend making suggestions or supporting current suggestions for future content.
However, if you really want to explore a map with other people, ask to tag along with someone or let your guild know before starting one. Also, when you come upon an event, ping the closest waypoint and invite other people. Yes, you CAN solo most of them…but you can also invite others on the map to enjoy it as well.
/sarcasm
imo, if the dyes were account wide, the drop rate would have to be decreased to compensate. Otherwise, their price on the TP would plummet as time went on. And then this topic would be about why dye drops are so low.
My main character, my thief, my mesmer, and my guardian.

Lack of updates to WvW since launch and nightcapping.
The former is a bit disappointing, but the team has been working hard on other things.
I don’t really know of a solution to the latter…it just pisses me off and is quite discouraging.
I want a legendary as much as the next man. I wouldn’t see an increased rate in precursor drops as a problem. The rest of the mats required are pretty intense, but nothing that someone with a bit of time can’t invest in. Everything is obtainable.
I am not sure if I want the precursor rate to change, or not. On the one hand, I want my incinerator. On the other hand, I don’t want to walk in to Lion’s Arch and see every dagger user equipping it.
It’s a fine line, really. Legendary is supposed to be hard to get. But “hard to get” is subjective, I guess.
Right?
Thats why I think a drop rate keeping things between 2 and 400g is best. Raising that money is just about on par with building up your clovers, mats and obi shards Id say.
By your own OP and this bit, clearly you don’t understand what’s ruining the TP and causing inflation.
You mention Gold sellers. Let’s talk about gold buyers for a moment. Anet are a gold seller BTW.
There are not as many people who will buy gold from some gold factory as you would think. They will, for security reasons (if their smart) pay the retail premium to buy it from Anet. That’s first of all.
Anet sells gold to, thus creating their own economic uncertainty in the ingame economy with unchecked inflation unless they counter all that gold. Their not countering it, their encouraging it.
Gonna repeat my last post:
“Yes…because increasing crafting storage panes (thus lowering storage sales), allowing some minis to be acquired in game (thus lowering mini sales), and allowing people to reach max level at a reasonable pace without XP boosters are all in their monetary interest…
Yes, they are a business and need to turn a profit. However, they also want people to enjoy the game they created. Development may be a bit slow, but I don’t see the conspiracy that you do."
I think people would rather have a crafting recipe that included 500-1000tokens from every dungeon in the game than try the RNG method in the forge.
The clover thing has RNG, but it’s not THAT bad (1/3-1/5 chance).
If 4 rares of the appropriate weapon type gave you a 1/20 chance and 4 exotics have you a 1/10 chance, it would be ALOT more doable.
But at this time, I’m waiting for ANet to either increase drop rate OR implement the scavenger hunt they’ve been talking about.
What part of, there’s no monetary incentive for ANet to make obtaining them easier do people not seem to get.

Maybe ill delete this thread and try again later on tonite when slightly less….er….useless members of the community are on.
Chill…debates are supposed to be about opposing views, not name calling.
rng is rng.
I don’t like it…thank god it’s not required to play at high end PvE, tho.
Wait until they see what ANet did to the drop rates and how they nerfed the hell out of the game, it’ll drop back down again after the holidays…
why is there a smiley face?
on topic, the game is now in it’s post launch phase. The majority of the players still playing should be considered it’s core audience. What will cause growth or decline are ANet’s policies from here on in.
And welcome to the new people
I can’t see NOT having this in the near future…
I did this on my thief. Idk wth that big shiny thing off in the distance is.
Part of the problem is that although there is a good amount of depth there, there is no need for it in 99% of the PVE content. Dungeons and WvW are the only times I find myself really having to play my class to its fullest and swap out utility skills and weapons. The core PVE content can be easily done by spamming aoe and knowing how/when to dodge.
That right there. As someone who likes dungeons, going out into general PvE is PAINFULLY easy in comparison to even the simplest dungeons. WvW can be hit or miss with the amount of skill required depending on the situation, but almost always PvE is way simpler.
For example, you can add all the skills in the world, but I can get through the vast majority of map completion by pressing 2 and occasionally 3 on a greatsword warrior.
Take some of the complexity and difficulty of certain dungeon encounters and put it out in the world. It doesn’t have to be ridiculous, but I should have to think.
(edited by Vorch.2985)
No.
The exploits that this would lead to…the builds that people would REQUIRE that you bring…the bugs…the new enemy mechanics that would be implemented so that you could not trivialize certain fights…you’d be creating a lot more problems than you’d be solving
I’d reinterpret the top post —
That the market places such a high price on an item that does nothing but cosmetic — doesn’t that mean the game is giving us way too much gold?
Anet always say ‘they are concerned with the high prices of certain items and they are monitoring the situation, but nothing ever seems to come of it (I’m looking at you Dawn and charged lodestones lol)
dwayna can easily be duo’d have 4 people if you want a safety net, and just farm sparks lol, charged lodestones aren’t that hard to get. 4 hour session i usually come out with 4-5, there really the only thing worthwhile to farm atm.
Your drop rates don’t in any way, shape, or form dictate what others may get.
I farmed Charged Lodestones for 8 hours over a week, got 2.
If they were so easy to obtain there wouldn’t be so many ticked off people
While the droprate certainly contributes to the price of charged lodestones, i think that it’s silly to disregard high demand (needed for Sunrise and other gear) and ease of acquiring gold.
You can play the game normally and get to level 80.
You can farm gold in the game and make a level 80 via crafting mats.
You can buy gold in the game and make a level 80 via crafting mats.
All of them are at the same power. And it is pretty easy to farm money for exotics (especially if you armor up from dungeons).
Now, if ascended gear was purchasable using gold, I would say you have a point (I’m not too fond of the new tier, mind you). However, it’s all account bound.
don’t farm for lodestones. farm for the money and then buy them. period.
use gw2lfg to find a group.
then, while waiting for a group, work on world completion or achievements that interest you. there is plenty to do. Some of it is grindy, most of it can be done very quickly.
Outside of racial slurs, just turn on the filter if it’s an issue.
no one knows?
I’m working on a build that utilizes burning.
If I use two Sigils of Smoldering (+10% burning duration), one on my main hand and one on my off hand, will i have +20% burn duration?
There are some classes with uninspired trait lines. However, I think you are over extrapolating the problem.
I agree with the OP.
However, atm it’s cool for the MMO community to hate GW2.
Darkfall will be the next game that will be cool to hate…
Here’s how I do it:
1. Open Box
2. Run and wait for them to group up again
3. Use AoE (and CC if you have it)
4. Remove Confusion if you can…if not, don’t attack (turn around or disable auto-attack)
5. Kite while AoEing and knocking them out
It’s a bit long, but it’s doable
A combination of 1 and 3, imo, would be ideal.
Nice rational post, OP.
You could just…ya know…not use the dress on female charrs?
Xfire does not EVER accurately depict the growth, decline, or overall health of a game.
Hours played by a small sample size can be very manipulative.
Other less-than-perfect, but still better, measures of game health are profits, server loads, and overall customer satisfaction.
first, this should probably be listed under wintersday.
second, I think this event was handled a lot better. You can spend money in the cash shop if you want, but there is PLENTY of stuff for people to get and do without spending a dime.
I’m gonna be “that” guy. You spelled dying wrong.
I only say that because I thought the thread title was Dieting is not fun.
To which I would agree.
On that topic, that’s a bug with level 31 enemies spawning in a level 1-15 zone.
Nope, there were presents. However, the enemies were level 31 and I was level 15 scaled down to level 12, lol.
So I was just wondering if the enemies are supposed to be outleveling us by twice our level or if that is a bug.
Hi, I’m not sure if this has been discussed yet.
I’m playing on Anvil Rock in the Plain’s of Ashford leveling my character while enjoying wintersday. However, when I open some presents, level 31 skritt pop out and one shot all those around them.
Are these presents the wrong level or is this working as intended?
Attrition is a tactic.
It’s also the only one that BP has.
I’m gonna focus on BP points from now on…with their population, to be ranked so low is rather pathetic.
I find that if I don’t talk to anyone in map chat, no one will talk back or do events with me.
However, I find that if I goof around in map chat and ping the closest WP for any event I’m doing, the game gets much more lively.
The thing is that you don’t HAVE to work with other people, so most people don’t. However, if you WANT to work with other people, just make the effort.
