Guild Wars 2: Turbo Edition
I’d be ok with the addition of solo instances. Something like the bonus mission pack would be nice, especially if it focused on the lore before GW2.
I would not be ok with changing current dungeons into soloable instances. The VAST majority of the game can be done alone. I don’t want instances to turn into 55 monk or Shadowform assassin farming spots.
8 core x86 CPU (easy to program for since its PC based)
8 GB DDR5 Ram
AMD GPUThose specs are nice on paper, but they mean nothing if the SDK is a pain to work with. If it’s like the PS3 …Well, my money is on the next M$ console….
The issue was the terrible ram and vram capacity (256mb ram and 256mb vram).
As much as I love my PS3…that’s REALLY bad. Depending on the GPU choice for the PS4, it should be more than adequate for games for the next 4-5 years on medium settings.
And DEFINITELY enough for MMOs.
It’s RNG from placing Golds and exotics in the mystic forge. I personally can’t wait for the scavenger hunt. until then, I’ll be working on the other parts that aren’t insane.
Just to be clear, I think most of the process is fine. It’s just the lodestone drop rate, precursor drop rate, and lack of story behind them.
I hope not.
Communication is key in games such as this. Consoles lack good options for this. Last thing I want in an MMO is group members who can’t speak when asked something.
Already solved: http://www.amazon.com/Play-Wireless-Controller-Keypad-Playstation-3/dp/B004GGZ8PG
It would be smart for ANet to do, especially since GW2 does not have a sub fee so it fits with the console payment model a lot better. However, I would probably polish it up a bit more before making any console plunge.
It has been thought about, and someone is eventually going to do it right.
My warrior runs with knights armor and zerker weapons/jewels.
My ele runs a bleed build with carrion armor and rampager weapons/jewels
My guardian runs soldier armor and weapons with sapphire jewels.
I could go on. Certain encounters can be rushed through with a team of zerkers (CoF path 1 is the most prominent). But that does not make other options less viable.
Are they listening? Yes.
Are they implementing? Yes
Are they implementing at the same speed at which they are listening? No. That’s impossible.
It’s one of those small things that shows A.net really cares about their players. The only time you ever see a dev tag in <that big MMO> is when they ban you, even with cool events.
Don’t overreact. It was just an employee playing the game. He wanted a boost, so he got one. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anet does wrong, it’s obvious that it’s part of their character.
Anet does right, it’s obvious that it’s a fluke, because their character indicates that they do wrong.
Why can’t people ever be happy or just let others be happy…
Offering the same thing that is in LA in other cities won’t really give people incentives to move.
Offering things that are unique and not found anywhere else in the game will provide the incentives you need. You could also add everything that makes LA tick.
They appear to know the game’s weaknesses and have been working on them every month. There is plenty good in this game as well.
And you can not just use blanket statements when referring to the systems in the game. This really ticks me off. There are plenty of good encounters…state which ones you like, what you like about them, and how they should be implemented throughout the game.
In additon, I like the combat in this game. However, I feel that there are not enough encounters that challenge people to use their skills appropriately. This is why I love encounters like the Temple of Grenth, Lieutenant Kholer, Colossus Rumbulus, Subject Alpha, Leurent, Lupi, and others. Those who spam their cooldowns get wasted. In fact, even people who play smart get wasted. But those who stick to it and learn the battles really have fun with it.
I also agree that guilds need more information to help them run smoothly. Last log-in and a guild calendar would be nice, as well as guild halls. But the first two should be priorities.
I like having no concrete roles. I like not waiting 2 hours for a healer or tank, only to have them leave and screw up an instance. I like being able to play with my gf and guildies with w/e they want to bring and know that, if they know their class and the encounters, we’ll be just fine. Grouping is natural…it’s not forced. I play what I want, when I want; I don’t have to
The game needs a better lfg system, but thank god for gw2lfg.com…if I were ANet, I would pay them a few thousand bucks and just integrate it into the game.
I wish that people would point out the good before posting constructive criticisms instead of just posting destructive criticism with no ideas attached.
Most of the legendary process is fine. It does take some skill to attain most of the portions of it.
However, there is also an insane amount of RNG required. I find that Mystic Clovers are actually the only part that have an acceptable amount of randomness. Lodestone and precursor acquisition is terrible.
If I were going to change how these two particular parts were implemented, it would be as follows:
Plenty of work required. A bit of RNG. However, nothing so crippling as to make someone go crazy. You would have a clearly defined goal. And you can also keep the RNG method in the Mystic Forge for people who are into that.
And the best part? You have can have a bit of backstory added to each legendary through the riddles for jumping puzzles. However, in the end, the process is the same for each weapon and therefore much easier to implement than a brand new quest for each one.

Add DEs and and mini-games in cities that reward armor, jewelry, and titles that are exclusive to that city.
They proved they could add events with the Karka event in LA. Why not add something a bit tamer (so that no one dies while afk) within each major city.
People who want to hangout in LA still have their spot, but you get rewarded for go to other places that obviously took A LOT of effort to make.
Are you asking a question or posing a discussion?
If you are asking about when GW2 will get serious, then the answer will be idk. Because I’m not on the dev team.
If you are trying to start a discussion, try to lead with a post that promotes civil discussion instead of using terms with obvious negative connotations and undertones (everyone but GW2, GW2 lacks…alot, when is Guild Wars 2 going to get serious, laundry list of competitors).
That said, I would like to see housing in GW2. In fact, I would like to see a focus on more “non-combat” systems in the game, including minigames that were mentioned prior to launch.
My main issue is generally there truly is little to do.
Jumping puzzles would be fantastic if they were WORTH doing. If they put a rare/exotic in every chest at the end of a jp (better rewards = more challenging jp) then there would be somthing to do. This is an easy fix that Anet can do.
There lies the problem.
There’s plenty to do. You just don’t get anything for doing it. You may do it for fun the first few times. But then you realize that you are not earning anything.
Plenty of fun, not enough reward. Which is sad from many points of view: there’s alot of worthwhile content.
And no one does anything for fun anymore. We want skinner boxes.
It would be awesome.
However, some trait lines have 3 choices that I like…and they are only available for 20-30 trait points.
Meaning I can only have 2 regardless
Also, idk what kind of imbalances this would causes.
I concur…go to WvW.
I hate Borlis Pass and Northern Shiverspeaks for no reason.
Except they are evil players who use every dirty trick they know to win. And then they lose.
Come at me, bro.
More on topic, I would like to see dueling. Not because I would like to participate, but because there is a market for it. As long as I can “unflag” myself, it’s all good.
Looks like T3 human cultural heavy armor.
I now have less inclination to actually search out and obtain legendary weapons. I found the visuals of them in several links through a google search and was pretty disappointed in how many of them looked. :-(
From everything I have read, obtaining the legendary requires you to have two specific crafting professions. For instance, for the long bow you to have both huntsman and leather working. I cannot find any other listing that offers information that is more concise in one place so you need to figure out which weapon you want, then search the listing to see what crafts are required for that weapon.
As for the stats, it is very confusing to say the least. From what I can see, an exotic is just a few points lower than the legendary and lot less expensive to obtain/craft. There also appears to be some confusion over the stats that are showing vs the stats that are actually on the item.
Not having a comprehensive chart is a bit of a problem. It would be nice to find a full chart setup to show the necessary crafting professions required for each legendary if two are required. Also I do not see where it is specific about both crafting professions being on the same character when you go to build your legendary.
Please use the wiki…
Thank you for that link. I took a quick look but it still does not state if the particular character you are building the legendary for has to have both of those crafting professions or just one character in your account has to have it.
Oddly enough for the staff you need both chef and artificer? Why the chef? Makes no sense…I would have thought artificer and perhaps huntsman since you need the wood for the haft.
You only need 1 character on your ACCOUNT to have it.
You use the two crafting expertises to create the gifts that you need for a particular legendary.
For example, for The Bifrost, you need to create Gift of The Bifrost.
Gift of the Bifrost requires
Since all gifts are Account bound, you can simply make each gift on whatever character has that expertise and then place the gift in your bank for further use.
There really isn’t a reason to raise it.
Assuming they raise it by 10, it would only take 2 days max for dungeon/fractal farmers like myself to achieve max level, but it would take a more casual player 5-10 days to reach it.
It would also make our current gear “obsolete”.
Add vertical progression through titles, WvW ranks, and guild ranks. Add horizontal progression for everything else.
The dungeon was fine, but taking out Zhaitan with a gun seemed…silly.
Wish we had climbed on his back or at least knocked him down and faced him on the ground.
The lead up was good, the climax was meh.
I’d tolerate it, but NO, I don’t want it.
Plenty of other ways of adding vertical progression without touching gear tiers or level caps. Those are lazy, imo.
Selective defensive and offensive buffs tied to title tiers, guild ranks, WvW ranks, etc. all add vertical progression without making the unintended side-effect of making current gear obsolete.
And depending on the method of ranking those up, you can get people out into the open world as well.
Are you talking about Lockpicks from GW1?
That was…painful.

I really don’t see the point in gear progression when you can have perfectly fine statistical resistance progression via titles. It was in GW1 and it would have been recieved with a lot less resistance.
If they HAD to add additional stats, they could have just added an additional MF, AR, or gold% to the gear. That would have made them desirable without the nasty effect of adding more damage or utility.
As long as this is the final tier and all I have to worry about are level increases, I’m fine because they did state that it was to bridge the gap between legendary tier and exotics. However, if they add another tier AND raise the level cap, then I’m out.
I’d be happier if champs gave a guaranteed green and vets a guaranteed blue, but honestly if they gave a gold for every champion killed, people would want an exotic for each kill within a week.
gw2lfg is a very suitable alternative if ANet doesn’t have the resources to focus on an lfg tool at the moment.
However, I would like to eventually see an in-game official alternative.
Remember when the Flame Shaman in the Plains of Ashford wiped out hordes of zergers during beta?
You can download “combat mode”. It creates a more active combat feel. A lot of people use it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tjK5OI2oAQ
Was just gonna suggest that to the OP. Coming from TERA myself, it’s a VERY nice addon
Still my favorite MMO at the moment. There’s still a lot of work to do, but they started with an amazing foundation and they keep steadily building upon it.
I do hope they learn from the mistakes of the first few months and make present weaknesses future strengths.
My biggest gripes with the game at this time are
However, they at least appear to know that they have weaknesses and address them a bit with each patch, which is promising.
Thanks.
OR you could just add DEs inside of major cities instead of traditional quests.
Kind of in the same boat. I’m doing all parts of the legendary EXCEPT factoring the precursor. I’ll simply wait for another method of attaining it. I think it’s difficult enough to get as it is without the additional RNG.
Wish they had time trials for Jumping Puzzles, with best times for each server posted
WvW should be addressed in March and April. Guild Missions come up in 2 weeks.
Leveling an alt is A LOT easier than your first character. Assuming you’ve spent time gathering, you can craft up to 300ish for each expertise, do dungeons for exp and crafting money, and pretty much be done with it in 3 days at 3-4 hours a day.
Honestly, there is plenty to do that has already been mentioned…and soon we’ll be able to add events ourselves with the guild missions.
I don’t mind vertical progression. I do mind a continuous gear progression.
If I were implementing Agony, I would have tied Agony Resistance (AR) to a title. Let’s call it Fractal Conqueror Tier x.
With every fractal level beaten, you advance one tier and that increases your AR by 1.
Every 10 levels, new skins can be earned, with a 0.5% chance for a precursor drop at fractal 60+ and a 1% chance at 90+. (that’s before MF)
As far as ascended jewlery, I would have kept them at the same level as exotics, with an additional MF, AR, or Gold earned increase attached.
This would have made Fractals just as desirable without the nasty business of stat increases attached. Vertical progression without the geartreadmill
I like how the OP has not returned to this discussion at all to explain or address anything.
Anything with Mursaat.
I think I bought some on black friday
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Charr_hide_armor
If I were to wear this now on my human and walk into the Black Citadel, what would happen?
Then a Charr would have a human-charr hide armor. If your human is female, then said Charr would have extra ‘shoulder pads’.
Armorception!
There is a problem when you can gear up in WoW 50x faster than you can get full exotics in GW2.
You’re kidding…you have to be.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Charr_hide_armor
If I were to wear this now on my human and walk into the Black Citadel, what would happen?
FINALLY.
Now I can see how awesome the Juggernaut is gonna look or if I should focus on the predator.
I don’t really think so. Mithril ore is prevalent at high levels, sure, but it’s not the top level ore, anyway. That would be orichalcum, which is much less prevalent.
That pretty much sums it up.
However, it does lead to quite a phenomenon which is seen with all materials: some of the T5 mats are actually cheaper than some of the lower tiers.
From MMORPG.com:
- MMORPG: One last question: do you guys sleep?
- COLIN: We’ll stop to sleep when the game is the best possible game we think it can be. We’ve seen the population of the game steadily rising lately and we’re not going to sit on our butts and congratulate one another, we’re going to try and build on that momentum and make the game even better. There is so much coffee in Seattle no one can sleep anyway.
Colin can also be quoted on these forums stating the loot was not nerfed on November, calling it an “X-Files level conspiracy”. We have thousand of posts spanning many threads claiming the November patch(es) changed loot for the worse. Anyone who was around before November and does dungeons/dragons knows the loot is a far cry from what it was in those days. So don’t get all pious on quoting Colin since it’s obvious he’s either willing to lie, or can be just plain wrong.
Yay for ignoring THE REST OF MY POST, especially the part where I say that risk vs. reward is out of whack with loot.
Good job quoting only the parts you like.
Seriously…
Save for ascended utility amulet and gilded infusion. Some may want the MF infusion, but I prefer cold, hard cash. No DR from dead enemy gold in dungeon rotations.
I dont see any level 80 exotic soldiers (P/V/T) weapons on the TP
They’re under different names (they don’t have the Soldier prefix). For example, Incinerator (well, I don’t really recommend buying that one). I’d filter out the weapon type you’re looking under, then browse through the available exotics. They all have different skins too.
I actually think he may be right O.o
I don’t see P/V/T weapons under anything. It may be dungeon exclusive. Can anyone else find a non-legendary one?
There was something that a staff member wrote WAY BACK (before launch I think) about some sylvari “experimenting”, especially some of the first borns.
Am I the only one who farms gold instead of items?
Farm gold, not items.
Where could I buy them
the trade post.
But really, I would just do the Ascalonian Catacombs dungeon. You make money AND you get the weapon essentially for free.
It’s also an excellent introduction to instanced content.
Are you talking 5 man teams? If so, yes.
Are you talking 20-man squads? If so, I’m pretty sure they can not.
They seem to be focused on incentives to go out into the world. I feel that overall, laurels and Guild Missions are steps in the right direction. I truly hope that some guild missions and bounties take place in the areas with lower populations.
As far as loot goes, I don’t believe that poor loot is a problem. I think that the problem lies in the risk/reward ratio. As the game is right now, you are more likely to get a reward for killing a bunch of trash mobs for half an hour than spending an hour taking down a dragon. Champions are challenging, but why fight them if you can kill 20 normal mobs for a better chance at loot? Rewards need to scale properly with risk
That said, they have made sure to provide basic high end gear that is completely RNG free. It’s some of the cooler skins that require rare drops or Mystic Forge RNG that kitten people off.
As far as GW2’s life span, I believe that it is sustainable. As long as each month brings something new to the game (which seems to be the plan), there should not be a problem. WvW culling needs to be addressed and PvP needs some more loving (yay, new map!), but overall, the game should be fine.
