I play the story for the story…I’ve long lost hope at any significant loot (outside of the guaranteed rewards).
That said, I’m looking forward to what happens next, if only because it’s been so long since the last update.

PREPARE FOR DISAPPOINTMENT
I wouldn’t doubt if the update was just the two bosses that drops greens and blues.
I’m calling out this for what it is. You can be angry, but when it happens just don’t direct that anger on me.No one cares about you, though.
I doubt that anyone will remember your ID, whether the update results being good or bad.
see.. hate. my point.
Say something inflammatory and predict a negative response, lol.
Also, on topic, we can expect bug fixes and balance updates to occur just as always. QoL, additional features, and content outside of the living world will be added outside of the 2 week update frame…because people kept asking for longer periods between updates…
Imo, they also need a way of making portions of LS playable by anyone who has missed out. All the work has already been done for the most part; it doesn’t seem too difficult to allow players to revisit old instances with art-cutscenes to fill in the gaps.
Bonus Mission Pack: GW2 style?
Like this upcoming patch…
That will include two bosses, one of them a wurm… all dropping blues and greens. Nothing else.
Exciting times we live in.
They’re talking about something different. We’ll be getting the regular LS updates like we have been for the past year, but they will combining and spacing out the the feature patches into larger updates throughout the year.
Concern: ArenaNet won’t stop banging on about the Living World update plan and so will stick with it even if it’s not working.
Not true. ArenaNet is changing it this year.
The original idea was to have four story teams making a month’s worth of content each, to be released in fortnightly bumps, and whatever mechanical features were ready at that time could be rolled in and included. ‘An online world updated more frequently than any other’ was the dream, but the reality was confusion.
“It’s very distracting to players,” observed Johanson. “It’s almost a muddled message, where we put these releases out and we want them to be excited about the story, to follow the story, and we also want them to be excited about the features that are coming with it. And either one or the other tends to be the thing that people cling onto.” And the other thing, people ignore.
“What we’re going to do this year is we’re actually separating the two of those out.”
All the big mechanical features ArenaNet is working on will be held back for a bumper update presumably in the spring/summer.
“When [Living World Season One] ends [on 4th March], we’re going to take a break for a little bit and then we’re going to do one really big feature patch that is more akin to what people see from some of our [MMO] competitors,” said Johanson, "where they bundle a lot of features together into a really big patch every now and then.
“We’re going to provide that experience and have this huge feature build that has a whole lot of gameplay-changing elements, a lot of quality of life improvements, a lot of features bundled together into one big patch. And that’ll come some time not too far after Season One completes.”
You know we heard this before.
We heard talk about 300 plus people being on the payroll and “secret projects” they been working on November… promises promises promises. Where are we now? Still talking about projects, and mind-blowing content? The only thing more empty is the hype from all the white knights, who continue to jump and down over small content.
Just for once I wish this empty hype would actually benefit the community. I hope one of these white-knights puts their money where their mouth is and offer to pay gold if there is no new continent map or something expansion-worthy. Quite frankly I don’t think they would do it, I don’t think any hype-monkey would bet solid cash that A-Net would churn out something worthy.
I’ll take that bet.
Just let me know what you consider substantial, a time frame, and I’ll place 400 gems on it

ANet has talked about adding weapons to each profession. I don’t see every profession being able to use every weapon, though.
While a larger selection of weapons would be nice, I would not want weapons to feel forced. Scepter on thief? Focus on warrior? Dual pistol guardian? It’s much easier to adapt physical weapons to magical professions than vice versa.
I’d rather have the addition of new weapons and increased availability of current weapons make sense.
Vertical Progression
Horizontal Progression
The fractal leaderboard actually makes no sense to me at all.
Give the world first for level 50 in NA and EU a prize.
Then, give the fastest clear for each level from 31-50 each week (20 possible winners each week) prizes:
That would actually get people to be competitive when playing fractals every week instead of a leaderboard that you can’t possibly have any chance of getting on after world firsts.
You could always see it as an expensive skin. It should be perfectly possible to use Transmutation Crystals to put it onto a (Infused) backpack. I already got a upgraded backpack, I wouldn’t want to upgrade yet another one when I can just transmute it and save myself the Gold. I simply see it as a perk that it allows you to select stats if you in example have no interest in Fractals and don’t need the Agony Resistance.
Yea. Due to the lack of official response, I think that’s what I’m gonna have to do. It’s quite expensive to be transmuting an ascended back piece onto my fractal backpiece…but I guess it’s working as intended…unfortunately -_-
When they first implemented agony, they stated that agony resistance would only be obtainable through fractals. Considering the only infusible items involve fractals, I think it’s intended. You could say the act of infusing itself involves fractals, but maybe they don’t see it that way, even though the only difference is 1 vial. The other non fractal related ascended back piece, the karka shell, is also not infusible.
I’m pretty sure it’s because the karka shell is exotic.
My issue isn’t the fact that it’s new. To my knowledge, all ascended back pieces can be infused.
I love the skin, but it doesn’t make sense to get statistically if it’s unable to be infused. Those infusion slots are VERY valuable.
I do hope anyone from ANet that reads this forwards it to the team. I love the skin, but I don’t think I’d be willing to use a transmutation stone to place it on another infused back piece.
I don’t think it would be terribly difficult to place that recipe in the game.
Ty for the answer. I want the skin, but I’ll hold on to the mats until there is an infusion recipe.
If anyone has these, are they able to be infused?
If so, what’s the recipe?
If not, are there plans for allowing these to be infused?

Game needs some community armor and weapon art contests every 3 months, staggered 6 weeks apart.
Glad it’s finally there…peeps have been asking for this for a while.
GWAMM here…and I usually see another gwamm title in my dungeon groups, or at least a title associated with the Hall of Monuments.
Also…some people skipped wintersday last year (myself included).
I really think you are reading too much into it.
Don’t you get a target under you during the 2sec channel?
It MAY be the last 4 releases with Scarlet in them. However, I’m surprised that ANet is taking about a month off of their release cycles. We could assume that they would not release anything on Dec. 24th, but they are also holding off on the January 7th release.
I do hope that this extra time is used for both rest and productivity. And I do hope that the final part of the Scarlet arc leads us to one more of our TRUE enemy…the dragons.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-2013-the-year-in-review/
-Only 4 releases left for this season of the Living Story (and maybe Scarlet)
-Next 4 releases will be larger in “size and scope”
-Next release January 21st
As a GWAMM, I am shocked at the ability of people to forget the crazy amount of farming required to get max level in titles to increase the effectiveness of PvE skills and resistances to certain effects.
Hero (Fast) Faction Farming (HFF or HFFF), Lightbringer and Sunspear point farming, EotN title farming…all of which gave a statistical advantage for endgame content…all of which (besides faction farming) was CHARACTER bound.
Nostalgia through rose-tinted glasses.
OP is a common attack on GW1 based on ignorance to mislead people who are not familiar with the latest state of the game in GW1 long before GW2 was even released.
You can already get max stat on your skills at rank 5 out of a max of 10 for ALL PvE-only skills (rank 6 out of max 12 for Cathan PvE skills). Furthermore, they purposefully made the power increases per rank to be very gradual until you hit max stat at mid rank, so you hardly even feel it while leveling up.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_of_PvE-only_skills
It is easy to get mid rank just by playing normally so it doesn’t feel like a grind to max out your PvE-only skills. And every new expansion you buy, you would play it normally, otherwise why buy the expansion if you don’t intend to play it right?
So it is easy to get mid rank and thus, max out your PvE-only skills for that expansion, by playing normally.
Look at the effects under the lightbringer title.

I prefer making ascended weapons the last tier, period. No level cap increase either.
Add new skills and increase the amount of skill points/effort needed to acquire new skills (i.e. 25 skill points, skills locked to title tiers, etc.)
Maybe my main…in time. No rush and I’ll definitely wait for inflated prices to drop before I start.
Erm…dragonite ingots usually require 100 dragonite ore.
That’s pretty useful if ascended crafting.
The rest are easy to obtain.
New Tiers:
1-10: Tier 0
11-20: Tier 1
21-30: Tier 2
31-40: Tier 3
41-50: Tier 4
So doing level 32 will get me the next tier for daily?
I just finished level 18, 28, and 30 in the fractals.
I was fractal level 30 when completing the fractal.
I did not receive a daily chest after…
Why?
I’m not usually upset…but i spent 2.5 hours of my life to get fractal relics…
Honestly, I did like most of this update, but there need to be few more changes:
-Scale daily chest gold to 0.1*Fractal Level
-Fix Dredge path
That’s all I can think of, really. I like the new fractals, but those two issues of risk/reward ratio need to be taken care of.
That feeling when you get dredge as the third fractal and someone in guild chat asks if anyone wants to run CoF 1 and 2.
That feeling when you are done with the bomb portion of the dredge fractal and that same person asks if anyone wants to run SE 1 and 3.
That feeling when you finish maw and realize that your guild mates just finished 4 dungeons and you got 1.1 gold.
I really love the challenge of fractals, but the risk:reward ratio is preposterous. Oh, get an exotic drop? it’s account bound and can’t be sold.
If the dredge fractal started at the bomb path/sonic destruction path, it would be fine.
As it is right now, it is way too long and way too annoying. I love the rest of the fractals…but dredge needs a SERIOUS makeover
I’m 110% for it.
Design-a-weapon contests from GW1 made the greatest shield I have EVER seen in a game…the Draconic Aegis.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Draconic_Aegis.
Winners should receive 10000gems and their designed armor free. Great incentive and free artwork.
Enter the fractal area with the character that has the highest level fractal on your account.

It will be account wide
1. More feedback in threads from relevant development team members
2. Better focus on the topic at hand/less off-topic discussion
3. More transparency of the CDI meetings. (What are you guys discussing? What has no chance of making it in the game? What suggestions are you taking seriously?)
Very well done +1
You start at level 1.
+20exp from exp scroll= Level 21
1-400 on 8 crafts is +56 levels = level 77
4 dungeon runs to do the rest.
You can get to level 80 in a day.
The game is balanced to PvP.
The better question is what area isn’t beautiful and interesting?
The last 2 zones of Orr.
The rest is pretty great with my favorite being a toss up between Caledon Forest and Mount Maelstrom.
I still have fun. Got a bit bored with PvE and discovered PvP on my warrior and thief.
Then went back into PvE on an alt and found that I really like necromancers as well.
Trying to get into WvW, but it seems to be a group-tactics mode. I may have to organize some WvW events with my guild to avoid getting roflstomped by roaming groups.
The recipe is obviously missing.
I don’t know why it’s taking so long to put it in the game.
It could not possibly be intended.
I like playing devil’s advocate and you make it sound “oh so simple”. Humor us, link the threads where ANET was so kind to detail these delays for countless items.
That’s in regards to a delay in precursors and new legendaries. The rest should come out before the end of the year.
Music was good.
It didn’t match the video at ALL.
Should have went with a rock ballad.
I find the new design ok. Some people act as if GW2 only has revealing female armors. You want full covered armors? There you go, knock yourself out…

Of course, in case you didn’t know, you can always mix individual pieces to create a somewhat unique look.
Let’s face the facts here, shall we? Sex … sells. No attitude or movement of any kind will ever change this simple discovery. Never. The only thing that is legit here, is to expect some revealing stuff for males as well.
This right here…was going to post something similar.
There are PLENTY of non-revealing heavy armors in GW2.
You can always just continue to DPS until they are dead instead of using a finisher…
Tower of Nightmares just came out and the Labyrinth is a ghost town, and not spooky ghosts.
Why did they over run their premier holiday event with a re-skinned Scarlet event? The candy corn grind to get the Bloody Prince Thorn mini had gotten even worst since you can not even grind for it in the labyrinth. (and I think they just make the labyrinth harder now so it is impossible since no one is there).Where did the GW1 spirit of Halloween go?
Most of GW1’s events happened in instances and main cities…
Nothing wrong happened…i’ll be back there after I get my achievements to show people how clocktower is DONE.
I main a warrior. Been doing it since I started PvP.
Best counters I have personally seen are one of the following
Also, if playing a warrior against a D/P thief
I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to create leaderboards…
The only place I could see that phasing would be necessary is Orr post purification.
Otherwise, I don’t really see a point.
Blind + Snare + Evasion = GG
I believe King of the Hill would satisfy most death match seekers. Just make sure that:
I also believe that Kill Confirm would work. Just require players to bring the dead enemy’s tag or “soul” to a point to score.
What ever you do, make sure that there is a method of tracking GUILD participation. Players should be earning PvP rep for their guild in tourneys, solo OR team.
