Again, you seem to be missing the point of the fact those risen numbers are after… years to DECADES of slow creep.
All this stuff? Within a month of Mordremoth waking.
And GUESS WHAT, the Pact and orders kicked into gear in the PS story, which involved Risen expanding/stepping up their game. Again, it’s not a slow but steady push and nudge here or there. It’s a “WHAM, Plant enemies all over this fort instantly.”
And your missing the point that Mordremoth has been sprung onto stage like an actor who hadn’t even learnt his lines yet (leaving the audience to consult their program to find out who this guy is, because he wasn’t even named until just now), and everyone, even the other actors, are just scratching their heads trying to figure out how to ad-lib without looking like idiots.
I get that Mordremoth is suddenly all over the place. That’s part of the problem, plot wise. What I don’t get is that the solution seems to be a summit of leaders, instead of a summit of axes and flaming oil.
How many world leaders does it take to say “Burn it; burn it now!”
I don`t know. How about simply writing a mail?
because i’m playing an RPG, not a mail-writing simulator. it’s far more interesting to go and do stuff to “earn” those alliances than it is to write letters all day. that’s what trahearne is for.
We seem to get mail in the LS often enough. Why not let Traherne organise the summit and send us a letter to let us know what happened.
Zhaitan had forces in Caledon forest, Kessex hills, Gendarren fields, the Bloodtide coast Sparkfly Fen, the Timberline Falls, and Mount Maelstrom, and of course the Straits of Devastation, and still we didn’t even have the Pact.
Eight continental regions invaded, and four races leaders did nothing.
After Zhaitan attacked Lion’s Arch, only one of the five races leaders did anything.
It feels forced.
The ley lines, well, the ley lines are just an excuse for anything. Mordremoth can be all over anything because: ley lines. They are literally a mekhane used to get an actor onto the stage. It’d be hilarious pun, if only it wasn’t being used seriously.
We should be in Maguma, trying to root out Mordrem (no pun intended), and find the Master, not running around on what feels like a wild goose chase.
And there doesn’t seem to be any point to all this running around anyway, when the solution is apparently a Machina ex Prodigium, and our portentous little Asura only needs us to run errands for her.
Some parts of this story feel like we’re just being herded back to some old regions and forced to do some old DE because they thought not enough people had seen them. I liked those regions, and those DE are actually some of the most interesting in the game, but not with a Zerg all over them.
It just feels all miss-matched and cobbled together, like some parts of LS1.
I feel like the meta reward at the end of all this will be mounts, in the form of dragon drawn chariots .
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
In the personal story the Pact isn’t formed until well after Zhaitan attacks Claw island, Lions arch and (depending which part of the story you do) laying siege to Vigil keep with abominations, liches and giant bone catapults. It’s a full on assault.
Now we see Mordremoth attacking a few outposts, and he’s an even bigger threat?
In another myth, when one of the Gods (Thor) kills the midguard serpent, the world ends, and all the Gods and Giants die. Only the Vanir (Elves), survive.
Edit: the Aesir die and the Vanir survive, my bad.

Jotun is a Norse word for giant. (Although the GW2 Jotun aren’t much like Norse giants).
There are also differences – the Norn have an animistic religion, which is definitely not Norse.
Just get a temple spineguard and skin it if you want more.
Id recommend having some sort of speed buff to avoid those orbs. Biggest PITA is dodging some AOE only to dodge right into a kitten ed orb.
It can be very frustrating and in this instance, makes this quest pretty much impossible as this creature is very powerful and I’m a hunter. My pet should taking agro for me.
You are not a hunter. Pets are not supposed to hold aggro. And this is not World of Warcraft.
After the success of Dry Top, when can we expect to see the “Wet Bottom”? Perhaps an underwater instance would be appropriate for continuity?
Thoughts?
Perhaps an even more precocious member of DE2?
You don’t see people blatantly leaping over walls or zooming away at 200% speed very often precisely because it is too obvious, and they quickly get reported.
On the other hand it’s probably hard to tell the difference between some builds and a hacker, because of balance issues. Plenty of room for a hacker to nudge the odds in their favour without being blatant about it.
I have a shout/warhorn warrior with runes and traits that make him almost impossible to pin down, and I can shed conditions and damage faster than most classes can deal it. Some players probably think I’m cheating when I run that build. If I was actually cheating, all I’d have to do would be to remove the cooldowns on shouts and the warhorn and I would become totally unstoppable. It would be very hard for an enemy player to tell the difference.
Customers are like gremlins: keep ‘em in the dark, and don’t get them wet.
For ganking an enemy back line I’d rather take a thief or nike warrior.
I can see rangers doing better at flanking and hitting the enemy back line from range, but not actually jumping right into the back line. They are still at risk of being CC’d to death.
For example I would rather wear this in to battle:

Than this:
I don’t really believe the first picture is from GW2 (WoW maybe? ).. and quite some of
the armor here looks more like picture 2 than like the first picture.
No way that is from WoW. It doesn’t look like a cartoon, and the pauldrons would be about 5 times larger.
my advice: give them gold if you want to be generous, but never expect anything in return. If they do pay you back, that’s just a bonus.
Don’t give them a single copper.
This isn’t real life. They aren’t going to starve. They don’t have hungry children.
You can’t be poor in this game, everyone has the same ability to make money. Anyone asking for money is either a scammer, a lier, or lazy. Possibly all three.
Lol at 5%. That’s not even noticeable.
I remember my netherdragon from WoW. They were like 200% faster.
Speaking of flavor text and back pieces, maybe we will so find out why Scarlet thought Tyria would need her one day as well,
I wouldn’t hold your breath.
So how is everyone with Mass Effect 3… I mean Chapter 3 of the LW S2 Story?
I was bummed that they killed Miranda.
For all we know Mordremoth and Jormag are all on the same side!
Super morphing mega monsters: unite!

On the plus side, I wouldn’t mind riding Natalie Portman’s wormhole.

I wouldn’t actually be surprised to find that the majority of WvW players have never soloed a camp.
Like any PVE activity, its easy if you’ve done it once.

20 years ago we had forums and software that let you sort posts any way you liked. You could sort by the date the article was first created. You could sort by last post. You could have options to only show the new posts in a thread. You didn’t lose your place in a thread every time your browser dropped a cookie.
Necro threads are a software problem. Sadly the forum software these days is a pale shadow of what it used to be.
I’d love to see some actual numbers on the popularity of dungeons.
The reason that males have a full hood is that they have to remove hair to avoid it clipping through the mask, which would leave the character bald.
Females don’t have facial hair, so masks on females don’t have clipping issues.
It only takes about 10 minutes to recognise that a commander doesn’t know what they’re doing. Sometimes less.
Dry top farming is the fastest way now.
For easy mode, pick a warrior.
For zerging, Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist, or Necromancer
For roaming, a condition spec, usually a theif, mesmer, engineer, or necro.
For being viewed as an easy target, a Ranger.
The appearance of ley line weapons and the ley line hub is probably based on hag stones, which folklore would have it are lucky.
Hag stones are stones with holes, often created by wave action. So the similarly with Southsun is probably superficial.
So she couldn’t have possibly encountered the Nightmare like you suggest by your logic. She would be an ally of the NC and our enemy. Clearly that doesn’t happen.
That’s not what the Wiki entry for Faolain says:
When the pair encountered a great darkness, Caithe pulled back from it, while Faolain embraced it. The two have been separated since, but the Grand Duchess has vowed that Caithe will return to her in time, and so often shadows her beloved, armed with pleas and temptations.
If you’re quite done derailing this thread, I’d like to see some proof for all the claims you’re making since apparently none of the proof to the contrary we keep posting is sufficient. I’ve already said it’s too early to tell where the whole NC angle will go, and that it has almost 0 bearing on the rest of the theory when there are the sylvari of Malyck’s tree to consider, but if you insist on arguing semantics, I’m gonna need to see some proof.
You aren’t posting any. Your just denying what is in the Wiki and in the Personal Story, and what happens in the open world and dungeons.
How many pieces of evidence do you need:
Time and again we see the Nightmare Court acting to create recruits with pain and suffering. If you don’t believe me, go to Briarthorn Den and see for yourself.
In the personal story Caithe explains that the Court perform of evil so that these acts will corrupt the dream. She also points out that Faolain is attempting to corrupt the dream.
Gavin openly states that he will use the Pale Stag to corrupt the dream.
The Wiki entry for Caderyn makes it quite clear that the aim of the Court is to corrupt the dream, and the tree.
The start of the Sylvari person story has the Nightmare Court attacking the dream.
The entry on the Nightmare Court describes how they convert Sylvari, and how they influence the dream.
The Wiki entry on the Dream clearly states that it is the memories of Sylvari that fill the dream. The Coutier’s memories also enter the dream. In fact if they weren’t trying to corrupt the dream, they’d probably just cut themselves off, like the Soundless do.
That’s eight pieces of evidence that the Nightmare Court are creating The Nightmare.
Edit:
The NC killed/torture/commit acts of wickedness because in doing so their negative emotions become part of the Dream. This strengthens the Nightmare, turning more sylvari toward it, the endgame being to turn the Pale Tree itself to Nightmare.
Those are your words.
It makes nonsense of the idea that Mordremoth (or anyone) is using the Nightmare to covert Sylvari. If anything, the reverse is happening and something is using the court, specifically Faolain, to create the Nightmare.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
Within the Dream is a nightmare, tugging at the heart of each sylvari. Some sylvari are more susceptible than others, and those who have succumbed to the nightmare have formed the Nightmare Court
Where does it say they “created” the Nightmare? The answer is simple, it doesn’t.
They create. Present tense. The creation is ongoing, (and growing) because of their actions. Just like the rest of the dream is added to by Dreamers.
The Sylvari personal story starts with the Nightmare Court attacking the dream.
Caithe: “This poison spreads hatred and anger. We must fight it.”
Player: Who caused this?
Caithe: “An evil group called the Nightmare Court. They wish to harm the sleepers. Trust me, sapling. All will be made clear to you very soon.”
Player: Why attack the Dream?
Caithe: “Because the Dream shapes us all before we awaken, just as it is now shaping you. A darkness within it takes root in our own hearts and becomes a lasting shadow there.”
Whatever darkness Faolain and Caithe encountered was outside the Dream.
Obviously they weren’t. If you read the wiki, that same place where you recite your comments from, it explicitly states that unless if you’re Soundless, you (a sylvari) are still connect to the Dream.
The wiki completely contradicts your statements, in a pretty blatant way.
Caithe and Faolain left the Tree (so obviously it was after they entered the real world), went exploring, encountered a darkness. Faolain then joined Caderyn and attempted to corrupt the Dream.
Those are known facts. I don’t know where you get the idea that this darkness was from the dream. The only other time people have re-entered the dream is the personal story mission in Arah.
To perform isn’t to create. Instead it’s more like they “weaponized” it.
Now you’re just making stuff up. They weaponise nothing. They don’t take from the dream, they add to it.
They do not “create” the nightmare, they influenced its progression because of its existence prior to their knowledge. They spread it. An unseen force driving individuals who encounter it, to question their purpose. You’re confusing the Nightmare within the Dream of Dreams with the Nightmare Court, the NC benefit from the Nightmare but they did not create it.
Eventually, Cadeyrn had managed to bring the Firstborn Faolain into his fold, though this was after Faolain had first touched the Nightmare herself, and she later replaced him as leader, titling herself the Grand Duchess.
They most definitely do create the Nightmare. The memories and experiences of the Nightmare Court are the Nightmare. They perform evil acts so that the memory and experience of those actions enters the dream.
“There are dark corners in the Dream: traumatic memories, evil impulses. They say that is our true nature, and they do as much evil as possible in order to fill the Dream with such things.”
- Caithe speaking of the Court.
“She’s a sylvari firstborn, like me. We were very close…until she fell into Nightmare. Now she seeks to corrupt the Dream as the Grand Duchess of the Nightmare Court.”
– Caithe speaking of Faolain.
Whatever darkness Faolain and Caithe encountered was outside the Dream, and Faolain seeks to corrupt the Dream, not the other way around.
(edited by Wanderer.3248)
Other other way around. The Dream predates the firstborn sylvari, as does the Nightmare.
It’s quite clear in the Wiki and from in-game events that Nightmare Courtiers themselves create new recruits. They don’t need the Nightmare to do their recruiting, and they don’t wait for recruits to come to them. And it is also quite clear (and their stated aim) that they do this to influence the Dream, and the Tree. The Nightmare court are creating the Nightmare.
The Dream exists “like a well into which memories and thoughts” are poured. Before the Firstborn it was only the memories of the Pale Tree, but now it is the Sylvari that fill the well, including the Nightmare Court.
/sigh
There are more types of love than those of the romantic and/or sexual nature. So yes, we could easily say they love Zhaitan, just not in a romantic or sexual sense.
So for starters, it’s nothing like what Faolain felt for Caithe, and which was requited, for a time. Minions of Zhaitain do not have feelings towards other creatures (except possibly hate and hunger). You will not see a branded with a crush on Logan, or an Icebrood making the moves on Zojja. It’s just silly.
Equally silly is the notion of a minion of Mordemoth having romantic inclinations for Caithe.
And, in fact even the “emotion” of fanaticism, if it is such a thing, is not something I would ascribe to Dragon minions. Sons of Svanir are fanatics. Icebrood are slaves. If they have any feelings, they are their master’s feelings, not their own.
The NC pursue Nightmare because they’ve seen it in the Dream.
Other way around. The Court create Nightmare.
The Court do not intend the Nightmare to convert other Sylvari. They can do that easily enough themselves. Dark Vigils, Dark Hunts and other acts of evil are used to drive Sylvari (sometimes forcibly) to Nightmare. They kidnap and torture (often physically) their recruits.
By converting the Sylvari, the Court seek to eventually convert the entire dream, and ultimately the Pale Tree. Once all (or maybe just a majority) of Sylvari have fallen to Nightmare, they believe that the Pale Tree herself will side with them.
These points are a rather large hole in the idea that anyone is using the Nightmare to corrupt the Courtiers. It’s the other way around.
It also rather demolishes the idea that the Pale Tree is using The Dream to protect Sylvari. The Pale Tree didn’t create The Dream. The Sylvari create The Dream. After all, it’s based on their experiences, memories and emotions.
Kellach expressed emotion even though he was quite clearly falling under Zhaitan’s corruption, he was manipulated in thinking that in obtaining Jennah’s blood that he would be able to free himself from the Orrian artifact.
It’s not clear that he felt anything. Certainly not love. He acted out of a knowledge that he was corrupted, and had an extremely callous and unfeeling plan for removing that corruption. He didn’t care (or possibly even notice) who got in his way. His lack of awareness extended to not even realising that he was surrounded by a shambling horde of undead.
The Branded are trying to follow the Dragonbrand to get to Kralkatorrik. You could almost call them “stalkers” if you will, and the Risen in Orr are utterly devoted to Zhaitan. Their devotion and love for the gods got replaced with love and devotion for Zhaitan.
I’m not sure if you put that forward as a serious argument, or you’re just trolling.
The risen love Zhaitan??? Scary weird.
Seriously, if I thought that the writers intended that these rotting walking corpses experienced love for their freaky undead dragon master I’d just uninstall the game and possibly burn my PC. And try never, ever, to think of this again.
Faolain still loves Caithe, ergo she cannot be a dragon minion.
I still question whether that’s absolute. Because something expresses emotion, they’re immune to corruption.
They’re not immune. They’re just not corrupted.
Define an empty basket to not contain anything. If a basket contains an apple, then logically it cannot be empty. That doesn’t mean it can’t be emptied. But to empty it, you must remove the apple.
Dragon minions are empty. Devoid of love. I don’t think I can put it in simpler terms.
The Caedern and Faolain probably think their motivations are legitimately a force of their own will. But there’s no telling whether there is some unseen source of influence by Mord that is edging them in a direction that he would be able to benefit from.
Whenever you use the phrase “but there’s no telling” in an argument it’s a sure sign of shifting the burden of proof.
Obviously, Faolain’s love could be as fake as Kasmeers dress. But so could anything else.
Maybe the whole of Tyria is just some intricate illusion, and isn’t real at all.

In Zerg wvw where big damage is king go axe, otherwise dagger. Both are very good.
In a Zerg or any largish group, war horn for the blast and AOE effects. You can never have too many blasts.
I feel that the Toxic Spores should not have been confined to just Kessex Hills.
All four zones around the Kessex hills can spawn toxic events.
Barradin was the rightful king by blood, hence the whole marriage between Rurik and Althea in order to circumvent the blood dispute.
And who decided that noble blood makes you a rightful king? Was it by any chance, people who had noble blood?
I’m wondering how this is gonna work.
cause Rytlock ain’t the True King of Ascalon.
seems like he’s giving Sohothin back to Adelbern?
In practically every story that involves a prophesy, the prophesy turns out to have been misinterpreted and in a plot twist the prophesy is fulfilled, but not the way everyone was expecting.
Having Rytlock become “True King” is perfect story-logic.
I think the reason that some Sylvari doubt they exist is that most of them have never seen any evidence of their power.
The Charr on the other hand, have plenty of proof of their power. But to the Charr they are just powerful immortal, and not benign, creatures.
You mentioned love earlier, but that isn’t in anyway really a good thing, since it could be used as a driving force for acts of good as well as evil. You used it to show the difference between the groups, but I wouldn’t consider the “love” shown in the NC as actually love. It is more inline with fanaticism. Which would go along wonderfully with your stalker metaphor, and it’s shown a lot in the relationship between the Elder Dragons and their minions.
The nightmare court show emotion. Arguably, in some cases, too much emotion; anger, pride, vanity, envy, lust, wrath, obsession. Negative emotions, but still the emotions of thinking, feeling creatures.
The Dragons do not corrupt by feelings. Their control is far more brutal and far less subtle. Dragon minions don’t become Stalkers. They show no emotion, not even twisted emotion. They have no feelings.
The Nightmare Court, no matter their convoluted reasoning, take pleasure in watching people suffer, because that’s what a good majority of them live for now. They go out of their way to create new forms of torture, new ways of killing, and new ways to drive people into insanity, because it all leads back to their single-minded goal to spread the Nightmare and corrupt the Pale Tree.
While it’s true that many of the Court do take a perverse pleasure in what they are doing, it is ostensibly a means to an end, not the end in itself.
For the Elder Dragons, the destruction is an end in itself.
The point is not which form of evil is greater. It is that the two forms of evil are manifestly different.
Just because they Elder Dragons and their minions don’t show any sort of love, that sets them up as examples of pure evil?
Other way around. Dragon minions are incapable of love.
Faolain still loves Caithe, ergo she cannot be a dragon minion.
Got two in a row last night, after a long spell of nothing. Thats RNG for you. (Or maybe ANet uses a bus timetable).
But at the time of day I usually play T5 is unheard of. T4 isn’t common either. So they are just taking up a bag slot for now. And I’m not sure I want two of these weapons anyway.
I’ll say it again, binding is bad. Make them tradable.
