I am a player who really enjoys the World vs World part of the game, and I love the look of the game. The only thing is, I don’t have any transmutation charges. I’m not sure if this is just a bad idea, but maybe anet could put something in where we could get transmutation charges from rank ups in WvW?
You can buy weapon skins with badges that don’t require charges to apply. Many of them are equivalent to skins you get in PVE from karma vendors.
What about EU?
The communities here are not only formed by server but also by language.
Remember, this was one major critic point with the PvE megaserver implementation and will have a hughe impact on the communication in an alliance. How will this be addressed?
——————-
So far this alliance things smells too much like EOTM for my taste just with a diffrent name and the last time i tried that was one of the most disgusting expieriences i had in GW2.
I can follow the blue Doritos in any language.
Just let me know the German for stack and French for fire and water.
The different sets of weapons and skills really messes with people who trait for specific weapons and utilities. And there are some classes who’s underwater skills are a bit meh.
For a lot of players it’s also taking them outside their comfort zone.
Probably they’ll add a use for them the day after you delete them.
Minor point, but a dragoon is a foot soldier (fights on foot), who travels to battle on a mount.
I can see a single Asura super villain taking over the world, but I can’t see the Asura race doing it together. They just can’t cooperate.
Popping signet of the hunt could get you an 8k critical if you are specced glassy. It’s on a fairly long cooldown though. You can see further down the log a normal 4k crit, which is totally believable for a glass cannon ranger on a target with low toughness.
Yak’s Terrace, Dragon Rock, Crystal Crossing, Stormbluff Furnace, Devona’s Kaineng, Isle of Emery, Northern Rall, Henge of Darkhaven, and Borlis Madness. (examples)
Dear sweet Jesus please do not choose these abominations of names.
A fully sieged up tier 3 keep with active defenders should take a long time to capture. I have no problem with it taking three hours. It’ll take a kitten load more than siege disablers to hold it for that long. There are a lot of fun fights that happen in protracted siege battles.
I’m calling it right now; Demmi Beetlestone is the true heir.
That would be really confusing for players who hadn’t done that branch of the PS.
Technically, Jaken, all the Pale Tree is saying she believes to be the case is that Scarlet opened herself to Mordremoth when she (Scarlet) left the Pale Tree’s protection. That is, she’s speculating on how it happened, not what happened.
She seems to have trouble identifying the correct allegiance of dragon champions, if past evidence is anything to go by.
I’ve seen EoTM pugs rout guild groups repeatedly.
Just being in a guild is no guarantee of skill.
Turning the gamma correction down makes night look much more realistic.
You could have the rats boarding a sinking ship, instead of the other way around.
If green dominates entirely a match up, only they will be able to enjoy such rewards.
You could say the same thing about the tournament rewards. But the losers still get some reward just for showing up.
The karma train gets derailed. Boo hoo.
Dedicated attackers will still take an objective when the supply runs out. If all the defenders do is use siege disablers it’s just buying them time.
Just tossing an idea out there, but what if all the EoTM rewards were replaced with tokens that you could cash in for rewards that were tied to tiers, with the tiers being unlocked as the EoTM score progressed.
It would work pretty much the same way as the system in Dry Top.
It might help change the PVD behaviour in EoTM.
In two years I only saw people fight this once. One single time.
I don’t think the guard lines are a good idea for a new player. It takes a very heavy investment to unlock applied fortitude, so you’ll see little benefit at all for a long time. By the time you have enough points to actually get guard stacks you can guarantee that ability points will have been reset several times.
Supply master is much better for a new player and will make you immediately useful.
Don’t get ram mastery. Everyone and their grandma has ram mastery.
Most likely 1. 2 if they are killing dollies / guards etc. Is it really an accomplishment to gank a pve peep? To me it isn’t so why bother with 3, but to each their own – not going to care if others do it.
Anyone who attacks dollies and points is fair game. So is anyone near to any WvW objective. They could be an enemy scout. Better to shoot first and ask questions later. I feel sorry if some poor scout ranked noob who was trying to kill a yak gets ganked their first time in WvW, but this is a war, not a barn dance.
I can’t be bother going out of my way to hunt down and camp people in out of the way locations, when there is almost always something more important to do. PVE vista hunters with no WvW experience are usually no challenge at all. It’s like beating up handicapped people.
Most of the obstacles to merging servers (e.g. what to do with PVE populations and cross server guilds) are no longer issues.
It seems that the only objection left is server pride, and with all the bandwagons and stacking that has happened in the last two years, server pride is a bit of a joke.
Condition removal is limited for some classes like Thieves without Traiting, which is still not going to be enough to cleanse re-applied conditions.
Cleanse and GTFO is my advice. You don’t want to hang around for the second application.
I haven’t played WvW (except a little EotM Zerging, I’m relatively new to the game) yet, but I have a question:
Why would it be a problem to hit a stealthing thief with aoe ccs? Let’s say a Mesmer GS5? Shouldn’t that keep him at least occupied long enough for his stealth to run out?
My experience is that thieves die most often due to crowd control. If you have a few players chain knock downs, interrupts and immobilise they can kill you quite easily.
AoE by itself is easily avoided, but not if you can’t move.
It’s your basic hold them down and kick them tactic.
No one rides yaks either. Or moss hearts.
Most animals really hate being ridden. Even horses have to be trained specifically for it. And if they can be ridden without throwing the rider, many animals are very hard to direct, and will just run off in any direction they choose. And many animals are easily spooked and will just take off at full speed if they sense any danger. Not a good thing in a busy urban area.
On top of that, you need to find an animal that doesn’t need to spend all day grazing or hunting, preferably one that will tolerate dry food. Edit: it also helps if its diet doesn’t involve people.

I’ve often thought about a particular heavy class that arose from the ocean.
“The Pirate "
Pirates don’t wear heavy armor, for obvious reasons.
So basically the Asura went for Magitech, teleportation systems, lasers and golems.
The Charr went for tanks, airships, artillery and even helicopters. And the human race went for…. farms/irrigation..
Boring, but important for the economy and the military.
Better agriculture (and the resulting increase in population and wealth) was one of the reasons for the eventual ascendancy of northern Europe over the Roman Empire. Even with all the technology we have today, it’s no coincidence that the major world powers also have the highest food production.
@Aaron: My dislike for the quaggan actually stems from the over-cutifying the race, and how they seem to get highlighted so much more out of any other minor race simply because they’re “cuter”.
I reckon we see Skritt the most out of any minor races. Quaggan probably rate second, probably because you never see bad ones.
Watching a thief stealth rez an NPC seems like a good way to kill the thief.
Unloading AOE on a thief trying to Rez someone has always been one of the easiest ways to kill them.
teach me the tactics on how to counter running into a keep gate defended by tons of arrow carts.
Some how the carts are able to hit us on the other side of gate even though this out of line of sight. can somebody explain that as well?
All AOE works through doors, siege and normal. This works both ways, and it can make it very hard to repair the door sometimes.
Just be thankful you’re not playing Warhammer, where you could be AOEd to death inside the lord room from outside the tower.
I had never perceived the avatar as ethereal – she certainly appears to be solid. Is it possible that she was originally intended to be ethereal and it was later changed?
The reference to her being the spirit or soul of the tree could be a metaphor. In eastern religions, such as Shintoism, a spirit (representation) of some natural force (e.g the moon) could manifest as a physical being, such as a fish. Physical harm to the avatar could have repercussions for the health of the thing it represents.
One day I will finish that game. Curse you GW2 for sucking up my time!
After playing through the game I have determined quaggans as a species have a terrible life and are wholly unsuited for survival in GW2.
As such I feel the humane thing to do would be to euthanize them. Its only a matter of time anyway.
1/10
And you only get 1 because some people seem to take you seriously.
Quite pathetic really.
sooo much negative ppl here – but no wonder its wvw forum
“wvw” – where the casuals and bad players can feel like a hero by spamming buttonsin this thread here all i see this casuals are unhappy cause someone did archieve more than they ever will – so they have to QQ
horrible people
but anyway – sunny bunny – congratz
– even when you block me^^
May we sit at your feet oh great one, and gaze upon your profligate neck hairs?
1. An easy to use reporting function. Not the mess we have to go through now.
2. Log who placed siege, and where
3. Make an example of the worst and most blatant offenders
What doesn’t make sense is that after the battle is over, they’re trying to heal an ethereal manifestation that for some unknown reason breaths.
Ethereal?
They already have thunderstorms on the Bloodtide Coast. They are quite cool.
Load on the servers isn’t an issue (I can’t imagine how anyone could think it would be), it’s purely client side rendering. Any PC built in the last ten years should be able to handle moderate weather effects. Last gen game consoles handle weather just fine.
They don’t bleed either. I’m not actually sure how sylvari physiology works, but it sounds as if they’re basically animated plant-based golems.
A plant that loses sap through a cut is said to be bleeding. And harvesting sap by cutting a plant is described as bleeding it.
None of them are evil just to be evil. Not even the Krait, or the dragon minions, or the dragons themselves are saying “let’s be evil”. They all have different reasons for what they are doing.
Story wise, anything goes. A single hero can kill anything the author thinks will make for a good story.
This is how my Norn would smell (From an Amazon review of Pine Tar Soap)
“Someone once asked me if I had ever tried Axe body-wash. I put down the five pound turkey leg I had been gnawing on, looked them dead in the eye and said, “Once. Then I put it in a canoe that I hollowed out of a giant redwood with my fingernails and sent it down the river… which is a better service than it deserved.” I am a man, and I don’t want any liquid soap that leaves you with some nondescript “sexy” smell. When I wash myself in anything that is not the blood of my enemies, I use pine tar soap. I want an emollient that will cut through all of the dirt, sweat, blood, pitch, grease, or more blood that I might find myself covered in at any moment, and I want it to leave me smelling like a camp fire. This is not a dual action body scrub and moisturizer that pairs well with your passion fruit shampoo. This is a man’s soap that smells the way my beard, boots, and red flannel shirt look… magnificent"

Why did the former five great races did not kill the dragons while they slept even if the dragons were made of rock you could just mine them until they are nothing:)
Why bother? Sleeping dragons are Someone Else’s Problem.
Why risk your hide when it will only benefit some remote descendant?
it will be different. it was different last year than it was 2 years ago, although I can admit it was slightly better 2 years ago
That’s because 2 years ago it was all new where as last year 80% of it was reused assets. Plus some emo child
To be fair, if the Mad King was your dad, you’d be an emo too.
Gameplay was better in the first Halloween, but I liked the story of the second one.
Man, all of you crying about LB rangers haven’t seen DB yet. Two of their guilds run 90% LB rangers, no exaggeration. We’ve run into zergs of exclusively LB rangers.
Sounds like you need some mesmers :P
Reflection mesmers FTW.
The undead dragon slumbers under a pile or corpses. The jungle dragon rests in an untamed wilderness. The dragon of ice abides in the frozen northlands.
Coincidence?
How much has been documented of the nature of these dragons in their previous cycles?
Necromancer minions are undead in the fact that they’re scrambling constructs of flesh and bone. What they come from were once living, but the minions themselves never were, because they’re constructs.
By that logic Zhaitain, being made (apparently) of necrotic flesh, could be just as easily be described as undead as a bone minion.
Going by appearances it’s not inconceivable that he was assembled from the corpses of more than one dragon. Pure speculation, I admit. But I tremble to think of what eldritch horror would be willing or capable of constructing such a monstrosity.
She believes had she interacted with him differently, the Nightmare Court never would have formed and not only would the sylvari race be free from their blight, but Faolain would never have fallen to Nightmare (whether or not the Nightmare Court was inevitable in some form or another is debatable).
Even without Cadeyrn forming the court, Faolain (and Caithe) would still have encountered “a darkness”, so it’s possible that Faolain would have founded the court, or something like it, anyway.
Edit: I imagine that the nightmare court is as inevitable as the winter court on which it is based; as inevitable as winter itself.
While it’s clear that Caithe blames herself, it’s also implied in the stories that both Caderyn and Faolain chose their own paths, and have no one to blame but themselves.

Blegh. All y’alls are haters! If every other MMO allows this and a trading post system why can’t we?
Because they don’t want you evading taxes. The end.
There’s a lot of players who don’t care for WvWvW or the tournament and got stuck with this lockout thing from the last season.
If you don’t care about WvW, how does a lockout affect you?
I am referring to the massive skill lag everyone experiences when full map blobs are fighting each other. This skill lag is from high volumes of traffic on the server and it is not an issue with the client.
Skill lag – a persistent small delay in skill activation in large fights is caused by computational load on the servers, not networking load.
Network lag has different symptoms – rubber banding and impassible portals are the most common, and a total lack of response to any action is also common.
