I think that green ‘always’ wins because the strongest server in their matchup has the highest chance to be green so green in eotm will have more coverage than blue and red.
That doesn’t explain why blue is almost always the losing side, often by a large margin.
Omg & i just sold all my mini sets last week. :*(
Now you have a mini wallet :-p
How are new players supposed to know what to do if you don’t even give them a freaking tutorial on it?
The same way the rest of us figured it out.
Legendaries are like diamonds. They’re sparkly and rare, but not actually that great for anything. Like diamonds, most of their value comes from people thinking that they’re valuable.
The Charr are more savage, but the Norn’s raw power is something that allows them to live these solitary lives. Similar to a grizzly bear, an animal that fights with packs of wolves all the time, they are balanced by sheer strength.
Tigers kill brown bears (often bigger than grizzly bears) all the time. Tigers are somewhat smaller, but much faster and stronger. They also kill crocodiles, bison, even elephants.
Cats are basically designed for taking down large prey. They leap from ambush (tigers can leap up to 30 feet), grab onto their prey with their claws, and crush the victims windpipe. Sometimes they’ll just bite through the neck and crush the vertebrae.
Lorewise Norn are stronger, because: magic.
But in reality, without magic, a big cat would easily beat a big humanoid. A tiger is easily strong enough to crush a skull or snap a neck with a single blow.
They couldn’t have predicted the searing or the cataclysm. It’d be like attacking a medieval nation, only to find out that they had secret nuclear weapons.
Neither duel nor trading is needed, there are mechanisms allowing you do to both without any potential to scam or troll though. Is that what’s bothering you ?
The wardrobe system wasn’t needed either but the game is better off for it.
ANet probably thought that the wardrobe system would be more popular than duelling. They’re probably right.
I think 99% of the player base couldn’t care less about duelling, and that’s the real reason ANet haven’t done anything.
I honestly wish there was a form of direct trading to circumvent the tax on the auction house.
I wish I could make money IRL and not pay tax. Dreams are free.
You notice that the ones we aid aren’t stealing stuff (from us) and making trouble. I don’t think the “bad” Skritt are any different in temperament from the “good” Skritt.
The “bad” Skritt just have goals that conflict with ours and are in the way.
This is not like the Hylek, where different tribes seem to have fundamentally different natures.
A: Yes, but they don’t even approach the levels of agility that Yoda has.
Lol, when you start making comparisons with Star Wars characters you know all sensible debate has left the building.
If it really is intended to be used as a map portal or dungeon entrance people aren’t going to be happy with the difficulty.
I have 2 levels 80s.. one is a guard, the other a ranger.. Both seem to get hit like little girls in WvW.. Their gear isn’t horrible per say.. The 80’s have older ear from like a year ago I guess is the last time I played.. Still, I can’t really compete at all in wvw.. I might as well be running around dressed up in papermache. The combat log shows me taking 2k 3k 5k 9k hits..? Im dishing out a measly 800dmg on my 80s, ranger with the odd 1200 dmg spike…. So I thought my classes were perhaps kitten and just tried a low level thief… Wow kitten d.. I think my highest hit was around 180dmg lol…
I thought this game wasn’t all about gear? Now its all about gear? Whats the deal?
The gear hasn’t changed.
9k? Are you wearing zerker? Maybe you got hit by a ballista?
To easy for greifers (and enemy spies) to stand in people’s way.
Instead of typing all that you could have read half a dozen threads that pretty much say the same thing.
They are not removing the downed state, they are simply moving it to level 5 and presenting it as an unlock.
They’ll still make the same complaints, just a few minutes later when they hit level 5 and get downed the first time.
The first time I got downed I was about level 3 and was facing a few level 5 mobs. I was grateful for a second chance at not dying.
There’s a great big red lettered text across the screen that tells you what to do.
Twenty levels in 3 days is not slow. You people are soft.
WvW players are the biggest drama queens in the game.
Edit: last time I checked HoD was still rated higher than before the start of S2, so some of the woe-is-me drama is coming from HoD.

Perhaps there is some kind of logic to it, but I fail to see it.
You have mithril harvesting axe equipped
Instead of a cypress tree, you see a ancient sapling….you’re being attacked so you can not change gathering tool that will harvest ancient sapling.
This is a minor complaint…but what’s the point?
It probably shares the same code as all gear, so it’s just a side effect. Changing gear during a fight is what they intended to prevent.
What do they call the equivalent of first world problems in Tyria?
Have you been to Tequatl lately? I wouldn’t ever use the term Ghost Town for sparkfly when Tequatl arrives.
That place has more tags than some zones have players.
Problem is dropping it too much, then higher level players have less reason to tromp through low level zones. And I actually enjoy one shot low level critters on a crit but I can still be taken down if I’m overwhelmed.
Face-rolling low level mobs gets old pretty quickly. You could argue that a lack of challenge gives payers less reason to tromp through low level zones.
“But I reject that call. I reject the notion that that I must choose the Dream or be lost to Nightmare. The forces that push us this way or that can be redirected. They can be set against one another to the detriment of both, and now I know how.”
It makes little sense to me that both the Nightmare court and Scarlet (who rejected that path) are minions of Mordremoth. If Scarlet is working to the detriment of the Court, it implies that either Scarlet, or the Court, were not / are not Dragon minions.
That is, assuming that logic has anything to do with it.
Stability and retaliation are probably more useful to the Zerg.
Hackers would hack the orbs even if they had 0.1% MF, just for laughs.
I’m not sure which dry top the OP was in if he things it didn’t have new gameplay. The majority of the events have new mechanics, and the overall area has an entirely new style of gameplay. The inquest events in particular are totally new.
Sure there a few champs that are pretty standard zerg fests , but this is the minority.
I like maps. I like the other stuff too, but mostly I like maps. I don’t tend to play RPGs that don’t have exploration elements. I often ignore quests and story and explore the maps before I do anything else.
how awesome could it be if caithe as a member of destiny edge, slayer of dragons was only doing her masters will because mordy wants no competion eating magic in tyria. :P
Awesome, in the sense that Saturday morning children’s cartoons are awesome.
It’s kind of surprising that humans have done so well against centaurs really. Historically, armoured knights (which is what centaurs basically are) tended to trample over most infantry. Only well trained spearman generally stood a chance, and then only if the knights made a frontal assault.
@Stooperdale: Actually, very few points of interests are explained. Good luck finding explanations for all those Orrian PoIs! I’ve looked. And looked. And looked.
Not everything named is defined. Not every mystery needs to be explained. Like the enigmatic lost city of Carcosa, sometimes the allusion makes for a better story than the “facts”.
There’s PvP going on in EotM? Something’s gone horribly wrong.
OG porting back to their spawn and wiping a Zerg trying to take their keep (or the observatory) is actually pretty common. It might not be the Pièce de résistance of PVP, but it does involve players hitting each other
I doubt that collusion was necessary either. If you are an OG commander and you see orange swords at the observatory and you know that the BL Zerg is elsewhere, you can assume it’s FG. And since FG are always easy pickings, porting back to wipe them is a no brainer.
It’s been a big ever since they first released it. It does seem to be lag related. And it always happens at the worst possible time. Ayeeeeeee….. ….splat.
I went in nude.
Nude.
Completely and totally nude.
I’m talking bare. No clothes.
Naked. Absolutely naked.
The way we’re born out of our mother’s life portal.
Nnnnnnnneeeeeeeeewwwwwwddddd.
It was fun. Good party. Fun times. Nice memories.
Nude.
I want to go to that party instead.
Anet seems to take people’s feedback and theories to change their stories.
They wouldn’t be the first. Look at Dallas and the whole “it was just a dream” fiasco. Or the revisions they’ve made to Doctor Who lately.
It is a bind with an episodic format that you can’t just go back and revise earlier episodes. You have to come up with some convoluted means of undoing the past. So long running shows often end up tying themselves in knots.
Sometimes it’s better just to jettison crapy storylines and start again, like they are doing with Star Wars, than to try and fit into an increasingly crowded universe.
OP are you one of the actual official writers for the LS?
I’m seriously.
There’s people crafting it for the skin, since there were several Mysterious Vines already made two weeks ago, long before Mawdrey II existed.
Oh yes a lot of people made the Mysterious vine, but they aren’t use it. I ran around Lion’s Arch a couple of times today and I was the only one who had it equiped. The same at Tequatl.
I’m still hoping it will grow/evolve into something more impressive. Because right now, visually, it’s one of the least impressive back pieces there is.
With the release of Feature Pack 2 on September 9th, WvW players who reach rank 10,000 will be able to continue earning WXP and rank-up chests.
When can we expect meaningful rewards to be in said chest ?
I’d love to see something other than blues / greens and the occasional yellow.
Perhaps design a system that guarantees certain categories of items at certain ranks…you know you could even call them bonus chest.
I’ve had plenty of exotics (including four of the same rifle) and three ascended. Out of 670ish chests. One ascended per 200-300 chests isn’t that bad.
If I ever got to diamond rank I’m pretty sure I’d have whole sets of ascended by then.
Nobody wins; Asura make a ridiculously powerful weapon they lose control of and all life on Tyria is wiped out.
they make it because the legions are closing in.
Actually there is an example from the Asura personal story of a single Asura using steam creatures to take over an alternate future.
In a fantasy game it is possible for anything to happen. A single necromancer could take over the world with an undead army. Another Scarlet might raise a steampunk army (and win this time). An Asura might invent a doomsday device and blow up the planet. A Charr might go all Napoleon and conquer the world with brilliant use of mobile artillery.
EOTM is not WvW
Still it give wxp…
Especially if you run a staff guardian in a big Zerg and tag everything in sight.
Fungi aren’t plants though. They are their own kingdom.
Mordremoth could have fungal minions. Or even animal minions.
And plants can be parasitic (e.g mistletoe). IRL there aren’t any parasitic plants that feed on animals, but IRL there aren’t any plants that walk around and try and kill you either.
Historically trousers have been more common in colder areas (they were popular with the Celts), or horse riding cultures (e.g. The Mongols), or the working classes.
The Greeks and Romans viewed trousers with disdain. The Romans saw trousers as only fit for barbarians. In later times trousers were “underwear” and were usually covered with coats and robes. This led to the adoption of tights.
The French Revolution and modernisation in Europe caused a rise in the popularity of trousers, as they were seen to be working class clothes.
Given that the technology and culture of GW2 seems to be equivalent to around 16th century Earth, coats and robes with hidden trousers, or with tights and codpieces would have been more common dress for men, except for the working classes or people in colder climates.
If people would take decent care of their machines DDOS wouldn’t happen.
Don’t let your machine become infected with viruses and become a zombie. And fix your Mothers machine while you’re at it, it’s probably already a zombie.
Support ISPs that block infected machines from flooding the net.
Every second day someone wants Monks.
There is no way for anet to tell if someone is zoom hacking, or if they are running triple monitors.
As such they will not ban anyone for doing it either way. hence zoom hacking is a legit tactic because of this.
Indeed.
Also with all of the new ultrawide monitors coming out, you can’t tell. Sure, they might be “zoom hacking” but they might also just have a nice monitor setup and that is the normal view for them, that is one of the big reasons to have ultrawide or triple monitor setups, the plus side is even bigger in FPS games.
It’s not a normal view unless their monitor is 12 feet wide and 4 inches tall. Even triple monitors don’t have the aspect ratio of zoom hacks.
There’s only two colors now. Blue and tarnished.
Anyone showing up on a battlefield with another color is going to have an immediate credibility issue with WvW players.
Are there any affects on the body from being a profession for a long time. Can people easily change without harmful affects from mixing magics? Do necromancers have residual death on them? Do engineers lose there sense of smell from the fumes?
Definitely. Necromancers are all a bunch or morbid death obsessed goths.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_affectivity
(That’s a joke. You mean effects, not affects).
Everyone is a bit moody in the mornings. They just woke up, and the world is all different. Again! Annoying.
And there’s no coffee to be found anywhere in Tyria. Not even tea.
We can’t say that just because Norns are relatively anti-authoritarian and are focused on individual glory, they would fail at warfare.
You know who else was like them? Vikings. Can you honestly say that Vikings weren’t good at warfare with the ammount of land they conquered?
The height of Viking power was hundreds of years before the development of gunpowder, or even the pike square. Lightly armoured spear men, archers and swordsmen would have been no match for forces of later eras.
A Norn could tear a golem apart with his bare hands. No, a Norn child could!
Trying going Mano a Mano with an omega siege golem. I dare you.
I know from experience that a single Norn warrior can’t easily beat a golem.
Lore-wise, Norn characters would be at least ten times as powerful as a character of any other race.
Poison, a knife in their sleep, a shot from the snowy knoll… they can be killed just as easily as any mortal.
People seem to have this weird idea that physical strength and ability in single combat means anything in an era of gunpowder and airships.
The Norn are relics.
