The cutscene shows our character going PAST the pale tree.

That was the impression I got as well.

The sphere in the centre is probably Tyria. It almost looks like a distorted map. Then the green sphere, which I presume is Mordremoth, engulfs it.

This is how game developers are, when it comes to females, they’re either eye candy, getting saved, kissing each other or running around in skimpy armor. Nothing is going to change either, if ever when it comes to gaming.

I think you’re confused. It’s Brahm who shows all the skin, and is portrayed as the dumb piece of eye candy.

And if you want skimpy armor on a male try Pitfighter, Gladiator or Scallywag. The Scallywag armor is just straps. The female version is a_ lot less_ revealing.

The vast majority of heavy armour for both sexes covers the player entirely from head to foot. Seven out of eight dungeon pieces show no skin all.

If you wanted to make a point, you should have talked about light armor.

At the same time, we know from the PS that Zhaitan at least was aware of the Pact rising against him, and moved to destroy it. So at times they do take an interest in the races of Tyria, if self-preservation becomes a factor.

I’m not completely clear on Mordemoth, however. Didn’t That Shaman post a datamined pic of a corrupted wolf/hound of some sort?

If I see a line of ants trying to raid my pantry, I move to destroy it as well, and possibly their nest. That doesn’t mean that I regard ants as an actual enemy. Just an inconvenience.

There are overgrown wolves in the new living story. Along with overgrown husks. “Overgrown” might signify minion status, in the same way as “Branded” and “Risen”.

We do not know if it was Mordi. People keep moaning this with zero evidance to back it up. It’s best guess work. As I said in an earlier post, the voices could be anything. From her just being nuts. To it acutely being Mordi. We do not know. So just saying yeah it’s because he can read her mind is not an answer it’s a guess.

How likely is it that two completely unrelated Sylvari would turn up with more or less the exact same symptoms just from “being nuts”?

Assuming its the same villain behind Scarlet and Aerin, Mordremoth is hardly the only explanation. Others I have heard proposed as the entity include Menzies the Mad, Lazarus the Dire, a Steam Brain, and even Abaddon.

While Mordremoth isn’t the only explanation, how many of all of those listed are actually likely given the current setting.

Any entity is as just likely as a common cause for Scarlet and Aerin assuming they’re connected. Because they’re connected via whatever the entity was. It’s a tautology.

On a slightly tangential note; the fact that Aerin couldn’t possibly have entered Omad’s device doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

Any entity other than Abaddon, since its been stated several times by the devs that he is dead.
(though I guess with all that flub over in the lore forum about if its not in the game its subject to change, its entirely possible for Abaddon to come back.)

The point is that any Entity would serve equally as well for the connection between Scarlet and Aerin, if you assume that they’re connected. Because, logically, that connection is the Entity. It’s a totally circular reasoning process. It doesn’t prove anything (or it can be used to prove anything you like).

Wild LS Theory

Wanderer.3248

Exactly what Ronin was saying, I have a feeling that The Pale Tree has some control over what info is propagated to other Sylvari in the Dream.

The very existence of The Nightmare demonstrates the lack of control that the Pale Tree has over The Dream.

From her reaction to Scarlet (in trying to understand the forces that shape us you’ll unleash them upon the world that is not ready yet ~ What Scarlet Saw) she clearly knows that Mordy is around and knew that what Scarlet wanted to do would have effects towards him. Scarlet also says by name that the NC and Faolain and Caithe including with them the Pale Tree all play a role in a grand scheme. Afterwards we find out that Caithe is keeping a dark secret that Scarlet found out about.

Firstly, you are begging the question by assuming it was Mordremoth. But let’s assume for the moment that the Entity was Mordemoth, the the Pale Tree would want to prevent Scarlet from using Omad’s device. (She would want to prevent her from using it, no matter what the Entity was).

But what does this have to do with the Nightmare Court? Nothing. If the Court are already corrupted then Omad’s device isn’t going to make things worse. It’s not like they’re going to become double minions. If the court aren’t corrupted, then obviously that doesn’t mean that the Pale Tree isn’t aware of Mordremoth, it simply means that the rest of the Sylvari aren’t.

Basically, the idea that both Scarlet and the Nightmare Court are corrupted is contradictory. Only one works – either corruption via Nightmare, or corruption via isolation from the dream.

Wild LS Theory

in Living World

Posted by: Wanderer.3248

Wanderer.3248

If the NC is aware of it, it’s likely that the knowledge is in the Dream, and therefore the Pale Tree and other Sylvari would be aware of it too.

If Caithe knows of it, it’s even more unlikely that others aren’t aware of it.

The Pale Tree is aware of it though, that’s why it was pleading with Ceara “not to go any further”. In efforts to prevent others from following in the footsteps of those such as Scarlet, the Pale Tree is trying to hide something from her children.

I was talking about the Court, not Scarlet. If the Nightmare Court are corrupted, then Omad’s device has nothing to do with it, since the court has been around before Scarlet had anything to do with them.

How would not telling anyone that the Nightmare Court is corrupted prevent anyone joining it? It clearly isn’t working.

That’s even assuming that the Pale Tree could prevent people learning the court was corrupted. If the pale tree can choose what Sylvari see in the dream, why not shield Sylvari from the nightmare totally? If she could do that, she could ruin the courts plans completely.

More likely, the reason that no-one knows that the court is corrupted is because they aren’t.

Assuming its the same villain behind Scarlet and Aerin, Mordremoth is hardly the only explanation. Others I have heard proposed as the entity include Menzies the Mad, Lazarus the Dire, a Steam Brain, and even Abaddon.

Here’s the problem with your other explanations. Something is causing problems with the plants. We know the jungle dragon is awake now and there is evidence from the inquest that he has dominion over plants.

Your other explanations can only be correct if there are two entities doing this, both of them need dominion over plants. None of the other explanations you cite have an entity with dominion over plants.

Simplest explanation in this case is Mordy. Probably the best also.

Just because Scarlet woke Mordremoth and he is now sprouting everywhere, doesn’t mean that the Entity was Mordremoth.

Scarlet was studying Dragons and Ley lines before she went into Omads device. She may have had cause to poke the ley lines without the Entities influence. Or the Entity may have wanted to wake Mordremoth for its own reasons.

And while Mordemoth might be the simplest explanation, that doesn’t make it the only one, or the right one. Simplest might be best in the real world, but the real world doesn’t have devious writers.

I do understand that when it comes to developing content, coding itself isn’t as easy as flicking a switch. All I was looking for, while not expecting, was an NPC here or there with simple dialog upon speaking to them; telling you how odd it is.

Talk to the Priory peeps at the outpost in Brisban where there’s an affected waypoint. They comment on the vines. So at least some of that is sprinkled around it seems.

I find it a little hard to believe that they’re taking it some calmly. I would have expected someone to avail themselves of the nearest axe or flamethrower.

I think a more probable theory is that Mordremoth’s means of obtaining minions is corrupting beings with a connection to the Dream. I have a feeling he’s responsible for the Nightmare Court.

Who act no more like dragon minions than the Inquest, or the Flame Legion…

In fact a few, like Gavin, are less evil than many other evil NPCs in the game.

True. It could be possible that the Nightmare Court is just an unintended consequence of his corruption. It’s worth noting that everything Mordremoth has corrupted has a connection to the Dream.

What, the root tendrils? They’re not in the dream. Nothing else we know of is definitely connected to Mordremoth.

If Scarlet was, and Aerin is, it’s because they’re not connected to the dream.
