I’m logging on the sanctum. I want to hitch a ride.
They’ll probably just throw me overboard.
I wonder if you can charge at other Skill Points to bypass this, anyone confirm?
No, you can’t.
Some of the Norn women also think that Norn men act like Bros.
They don’t mean it as a good thing.
That’s not Inquest. That’s asuran golem corrupted by Mordremoth that you called. :P
Besides, calling that one of the three biggest Maguuma Jungle threats, who also happens to be a Tyria-wide threat, will be active in the Maguuma is… Like say ing Seraph will be involved in Kryta stuff. Kind of dead-brained obvious, y’know?
Now, a major plot device is another thing… Which we haven’t seen.
Actually I was joking about the Inquest working with Mordremoth because I thought it was an outlandish idea. I’ll still be surprised if they turn out to be working together.
On the other hand, ANet come up with some strange ideas, so who knows.
You can cap a tower by yourself. With two people it’s easy.
On the other hand it only takes one enemy player to spot you and you can easily be rolled by a small group. It’s not really feasible to run around solo capping towers for a daily, because after the first tower or two you’ll have the enemies attention.
Your changes would destroy 90% of all build’s for 2 classes and would actually hurt builds from other classes.
There’s something wrong when these classes have certain builds that are far more effective than any other builds. Or when small-group fighting on any class demands you have certain builds to be effective.
Are there any roamers who don’t?
Yes, we’re getting guild transfers by the load because FA is a strong, organized community with a fun playing environment.
Looks like the PR guys from HoD also transferred.
We all know you’re just a distraction for the engineer and thief behind us.
The one in the video, with red sails that gets blown up, looks more like the sanctum – it doesn’t have the curved top of its hull.
So it could be yet another ship, or they could have switched sails on the sanctum.
It’s made of sticks and rope. Not sure I’d want to be on one in a storm.
If there isn’t a new zone the forums will melt down.
Hell, they’ll get so hot that the symmetry between the fundamental forces of nature will be restored, space and time will melt, and we will be able to discover the true meaning of existence.
“What’s happening to gems?”
Basic economics.
More people want to avoid spending real money for gem store items, so they spend gold. This depletes the “stock” of gems and causes the remaining gems to cost more.
At some point, we will have a relatively equal number of people who are buying gems for gold as we have using gold for gems which will stabilize the exchange rate.
When it costs $10 to get a commander tag for all my alts (ten and counting), I’ll be buying gold with gems.
…
So how do you guarantee that Player 1 can make good on returning the borrowed items? …I’m sure gnashblade has some means… maybe reach into Player 1’s collections tab and inventory and randomly grab the debt in various high level materials at current price
The whole point of a futures contract is that you don’t have the items when you make the contract. You make money by acquiring the goods cheaply to fulfill the contract in the future. If you have them now, it makes the exercise pointless.
If player 1 can’t come up with the goods, and quits the game, there us nothing for GB to take.
“well, I see you’re all out of crafting materials… say, that’s a nice legendary you have there. Shame if something were to happen to it.” Oh that could never happen, you say? This is the same guy who deserted Lion’s Arch in a time of need.
And what if the player has nothing? You can’t force them to keep playing to pay off the debt, like you could IRL.
Futures are different than shorts. Two entirely different things. zeibars brought up shorts.
Shorting is done with futures and/or forwards. You can’t short sell immediately, it makes no sense.
And why on earth is golemancer NOT up there? No one else finds it ridiculous that a class which was represented among the main characters of the game’s principal storyline (Snaff of Destiny’s Edge) is not available in game?
Either every race gets a race specific class, or none do.
Most people seem to want and use test servers (and beta tests) for their own personal selfish benefit, and not to help with the testing process.
aka, slightly different Skyrim?
Dragon Riders of Pern. Melnibone. I’m not sure who “invented” the idea of humans riding dragons, but it goes back to the sixties, if not earlier.
Interestingly enough – given how many players run toons named after characters from those sodding books, there could be something in this…
Seriously, I can’t move for Snows, Lannisters, Tyrions and Daenerys’…its a disease I tells ya!
Well at least it’s the right genre. It’s worse when you see someone called Commander Shepard, or Bruce Wayne.

I called the Inquest involvement months ago:

“When the cyclopian golem servents of Mordremoth come stomping out of the jungle, I’m going to say ‘told you.’”
So… … Told you so!
The old pen and paper RPG game Mage, had what they called coincidental magic, versus vulgar magic. Vulgar magic was fireballs, bolts of lightning, and other obvious forms of magic. Coincidental magic was less obvious. Things that seemed like improbable feats, but weren’t as showy.
Most warrior skills, like shouts, stances, banners or even unnatural strength or speed could be seen as coincidental magic.
Dhuum busts out, rezs zhaitan, destroys the world riding a elder dragon scythe in hand risen army in tow, lol what a grim idea
But seriously after the elder dragons die off unless they copy and paste more with diff names, i can see dhuum becoming a pretty ba villain…… to reclaim whats his, would he resurrect the dragons against the gods to get what he wants, despite his hatred of the art the world of tyria their battlefield as we get caught in the crossfire helpless
At the current rate, GW3 will be out by the time all the dragons are dead.
Asura sized Charr? Like a Skritt?
Now I have to go and watch Predator.
If it bleeds, we can kill it.
What, you never saw Tegan?
I honestly gave no idea how you people connect two dots and come up with the blueprint for Leonardo’s fabled lost invention, I really don’t.
It’s not a nuclear reactor. It’s just technobabble.
Some random biological points:
Reptile infants are often much much smaller than their parents. Baby crocodiles are tiny.
Reptiles tend to mature rapidly compared to other animals.
Some reptiles may exhibit what is called negligible senseseance. (Although this is somewhat controversial). Basically this means that they do not grow old (death can still occur due to disease or injury). Some reptiles will just keep getting bigger as long as they live.
Many reptiles can reproduce parthenogenically, i.e. without a father. Specimens in captivity with no contact with males have been know to produce viable offspring. Due to the way reptile chromosomes work, only female offspring are viable.
Of course, the dragons are not necessarily reptiles, and magic could change anything.
You really think the animators were worried about whether to make the explosions look like they could have been realistically concealed?
I doubt they were expecting a forensic examination. They weren’t thinking that they better make the explosions good enough to fool CSI.
They just blew some kitten up, to make a good video.
Meh, I’ve seen servers wipe all the maps and then bring a dozen omegas to take the last keep.
From memory, the commanders name was salt-in-wounds.
They don’t have to accept every random newbie.
You need go no further than right here to see why this would be a horrible idea.
Agreed. Getting new people in WvW is tough enough without this garbage.
First they exclude the uplevels. I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t an uplevel.
Then they excluded the Rangers. I said nothing, I wasn’t a Ranger.
Then they excluded anyone who wasn’t GWEN. That was fine, I had a warrior.
By the time they excluded everyone who didn’t have the right gear, build and weapons, there was no-one left to speak out.
Some of the other sigils are pretty good since they got buffed.
Drake and Dragon both derive from the ancient Greek Drakon, which was the term for a sea serpent or sea monster. Drake is English via old German, while Dragon comes via old French. They both mean the same thing. For instance Smaug is referred to as a Dragon and a Drake.
Words get tossed around a lot in taxonomy. Look at the Komodo Dragon – it doesn’t really resemble any mythical dragons, but someone thought it would be a good name for a big lizard.
Maybe someone in Tyria had heard of these giant reptiles and mistook a Tyrian drake for an actual dragon.
Scarlet obviously wasn’t from the “other tree”, and if any of the pirates are, they are keeping very quiet about it. Assuming that there is another tree.
And I agree that if there are any nightmare court with the pirates, they must be in disguise. Pirates would probably view the court with suspicion. It would be like an extremist terrorist group hanging out with a bunch of drug dealers.
As much sense as a human using fire.
Wet green wood actually burns very poorly, sometimes with a net loss of energy. Animals actually burn better than green wood in most cases, especially animals with a high fat content.
Those cases of spontaneous combustion you hear about? They’re not really spontaneous. Usually it’s a result of people’s clothes catching fire, which produces enough heat to start the body burning, and if the person is overweight, the fat content provides enough energy to burn the whole body.
It’s kind of a maze and one of the paths that goes up from below looks like a dead end isn’t. Once you get up there, there is more room and a view.
Even if it was just eggs, the inquest would love to get hold of them.
Even if they were in the game it doesn’t mean we’d get to use them. Like Charr tanks.
People running around squawking that the sky is falling is kind-of self prophetic anyway. WvW numbers are very dependent on morale. When people lose, they quit.
When map chat is full of emos complaining about low turnouts, what happens? More people leave!
There’s a war on, and you’re worried that the light makes you look bad?
With the gods gone playong in the mists what happens when Dhuum breaks out of prison and theres no one there to rival him any more? Seems like a much bigger threat than silly dragons
That’s just Dhuum.
My point here is that the developers profess to want to create a living world; meaning a world in which player actions have impact.
I am not asking for unicorns and rainbows. I’m asking for my character’s presence to matter.
You realise that there are thousands of other players in the game, right?
How are they all supposed to have an impact on the game, unless it’s predetermined?
And please don’t suggest that the outcome should depend on collective effort. The queens pavilion demonstrated that the player base has less intelligence than a herd of cattle.
Btw. while we are at gameplay and allowing us to have control or not:
Please allow us to fight the big baddy this time.If the enemy is “mortal” then allow us to hurt him. Hurt, but not break him.
Like the Joker in the Dark Knight. He was hurt, but was clearly having all the cards in his hand and more up his sleave.
Like the Joker, Scarlet was never meant to be a fighter. And in the Arkham games, he tends to avoid direct combat, and quite frankly, he’s not good at it. The scene in Arkham origins where you do beat up the Joker is a bit disturbing really, since physically the batman is so much stronger than the Joker.
I don’t think a straight up fight with Scarlet would have made much sense either. Like the Joker she was a thinker and a schemer, not a fighter. She had thugs to do the fighting for her.
I don’t think all MMO enemies have to be great at combat. It’s kind of sad for the genre if everything has to devolve into violence.
Well, drakes don’t resemble middle eastern dragons either. Middle Eastern dragons were more like serpents. Also, there aren’t any middle eastern dragons in the game for drakes to be related to.
My pick is that Marjory was just being sardonic, and there is no real collective, as Stooperdale said.
On the Xboxen you have the additional problem of Microsoft trying to control everything, including the network and servers (meaning a completely separate experience for Xbox players).
No. Seriously, if I wanted to play donkey kong, I would.
Pessimist trap – A trap placed at the enemys entrance to the zone that when activated makes them realize there’s no point in going out and fighting because what little rewards exist for doing so take forever to get and will ultimately be given to everyone.
/end joke
How about a commander trap. Whenever a commander crosses it, it calls their ability into question on map chat.
