I doubt that they will make the star of gratitude available again but instead make another one available.
Otherwise, those that got already wont have anything to do.
I they introduce a new fragment eater, player who already got the star, can obtain a 2nd one and new players will also be able to get one.Or they might do something like Herta (a second bloodstone dust eater): introduce a second quest for an alternative.
I am betting (inventory space) that it will return:
- The coding is already there.
- Appropriate open-world chests have been dropping Grubby packages all year.
Still, ANet is notoriously inconsistent about all sorts of things and Wanze’s track record of predictions is better than most people posting publicly, i.e. I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t return either.
Yeah, thats what i meant, they introduce a new one, so people who have the star already, will have two and new players will get one.
I was actually quite surprised myself, how accurate i predicted new legendary crafting to be. I made some posts about it in June/July/August i think and 3 things i was expecting back then was map completion required from maguuma jungle, not core tyria, lots of account bound mats and currencies from the new maps (4 mats and 3 currencies are needed) and some time investment in SW and DT (400 geodes and 1000 bandit crests).
And i expected them to require lower tier fine mats as well, which they do, but not sure, if i ever posted that.

This game however, seems to only monetize cosmetics. Which means that as a person who derives enjoyment from cosmetics (putting together outfits and collecting pets) in the games they play, I’m expected to either spend all my time farming gold or pay way, way, way more than my fair share.
If your only enjoyment is to customize your character with armor, weapons and minis (pets dont cost anything to acquire), you can do so for free from the wardrobe and in the preview window.
I guess what you want is to show it off in game. If you are good and creative in styling your character, you can put together great appearances on a budget and make get the same WOW! effect form your fellow players.
But most players just admire rare and expensive skins and minis because they are rare and expensive, not because they are particularly cool looking.
I dont know if you would like the game any better, if Anet would unlock every skin and mini in your wardrobe and you would have nothing to work for anymore.
Because once you obtained everything you ever dreamed of in game, all future rewards you get will suck from a personal perspective.

I could use a gold eater.
I have so much of that stuff because its so easy to come by and i have very little to spend it on.
It would be great to be able to feed it a couple of gold every day and get account bound mats and currencies in return.I’ll be your gold eater SRS. In return, I would be your slave.
Players as gold eaters arent good for me because i can only send 500g per week, thats only ~25k gold per year i can get rid of that way. And everybody who offered me this, couldnt keep up their end of the bargain because when i told them to send me account bound mats and tokens in return, they didnt.
Slaves defeat their purpose of existance, if they can simply refuse to do what they are told.

Wanze, quick question if I may?
Do you have every story, slayer, and weaponmaster achievement?
No. I completed all story lines in core tyria, ls season 1 and 2 and HoT but i usually didnt go for the extra achievements because neither the individual rewards nor the accociated AP had much appeal to me as a reward.
I completed half the slayer achis and have another 40% of those on 75% or higher.
Those i didnt complete yet arent usually found in lvl 80 areas or in wvw, which i played alot before HoT.
Same goes for weaponmaster achis. only 6 or 7 maxed, i think. GS,SW, Rifle, Hammer, Spear, Speargun and Staff. Thats because i only play warrior and mostly played gs/sw/wh for the best part of 3 years. I use rifle as alt weapon in pve, if i need range but longbow is close to complete and i used hammer when i was doing guild raids in wvw.
Its hard to kill people with a warhorn ( i managed 7, from blasting combo fields, i guess) and i only maxed staff because i think kills with arrow carts (or all siege) in wvw count as staff kills.
I do have all wvw achis (except realm avenger) and eotm achis complete, though.
And now you can tell me why you asked.

GW2 is:
A combat simulation game.
A platforming game.
A roleplaying game.
A market simulation game.
An exploration game.
and plenty of others I am sure that I have missed.
Anet describes GW2 as a Living, Breathing Fantasy World. Trade and Commerce existed ever since people started interacting with each other, so i dont know why it shouldnt be implemented in GW2 as well. Trade and commerce also existed in the adventure games of old but then you mostly interacted with npcs to do so because there wasnt an online aspect of the game and you were the only real person in it.
An mmo is a game where alot of people interact with each other and i dont know why OP doesnt see trade between players as something that shouldnt exist.
If he doesnt want to interact with other people, he should play a single player adventure game.

Its a bug, in the bug forum, keep bumping that thread whenever it gets low please. Its been several weeks with no Dev response.
There was dev response on reddit this week. They said they were looking at the issue.
but of course they did, they don’t seem to like replying to bug reports on these forums, given the number of topics on these forums recently about devs ignoring here and posting all over reddit, Anet should just save the money and close these forums and make reddit there official source for info.
Yes.
Personally, i opened a reddit account 2 weeks ago because i cant really bothered with the forum anymore. Not only because of the devs not communicating over here but because the general conduct of the players posting here went down a notch or three since HoT released.

But from the way it was phrased, i wouldnt be surprised, if the trailblazer stat exchange is working as intended and it was a bug that all the other stat sets could be changed into with just an exotic insignia/inscription.
Otherwise, the added mat requirement of fulgurite for the ascended gear wouldnt make sense.

No, Wanze, that is not the problem here and you know it.
You’re just feigning admiration for that post, because it happens to suit your cause to do so.
Obviously, if no one wants any of the rewards (or to accumulate gold) in a game, none of this matters; but the truth is that most people do want some, or all, of them.
Assuming that is, inevitably, going to be the case (and just as well, for Anet’s bank balance, that it is), the problem is that one, niche, way of playing the game is FAR better than others at achieving them.
The “choice” in a game should, pretty obviously, not be “Play the TP, be rich IRL, or become a Buddhist.”.
Much as I admire Buddhists…
How do you know what my cause or agenda is?
If you think its accumulating more gold, youre wrong. I have enough of that, i dont need more. Personally, gold has very little value to me and there is not much i desire.
I am just arguing against you guys because i dont think tp traders are the source of all evil, in fact if there werent any speculators and flippers, the economy would be way more unbalanced because overly supplied items would go to vendor value way faster and in demand items would see higher price spikes.
The problems you guys have arent there because of the existance of tp traders, they are there because of the personal choices you make and there is nothing Anet can do about it.
I am just against any suggestion that came up here because i dont think it will benefit the game or even solve your initial problem.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
I just want to chime in. Not as an economy or psychology expert but as an average player. Working towards most goals in this game isn’t fun because they directly or indirectly require huge amounts of gold. Making gold isn’t fun. You either play the market (something only a select few can do or otherwise there would be no profit in it) or do the easiest, fastest, most profitable but boring and repetitive content until you can’t stomach it anymore and ultimately end up dropping not only the content but the game itself.
The game needs income. People purchasing gem shop items or gold with real money. Something which I’m not opposed to. However, the amount of items coming in through the gem shop only and the frequency they come with and the in-game things that requires a high amount of gold makes it so that the amount of real money required for someone who likes these things but can’t or doesn’t want to do the two most profitable activities (playing the market or dedicating entire days to grinding repetable content) ends up so high that they might as well be paying several monthly subscriptions. To just one game.
I think you see items as too expensive not because Anet prices them too high but because other players value the required mats or opportunity costs that are involved in making them too high for your taste.
Traders just make so much gold because they offer a service of convenience to other players and are willing to wait for their personal profits instead of wanting instant gratification.
The same goes for farmers. They are willing to put in hours of (boring) gameplay in order to farm mats that other players need but cant be bothered to farm themselves.
Even if Anet would buff gold rewards for every content, it wont make you acquire your wanted items faster compared to the other players now. Because they will put in more hours, earn more gold and therefore are willing to pay more gold for the mats you compete with.
And the trader in general doesnt really care wether gold faucets are turned up or not.
If the player base has more gold at their disposal, they are willing to spend more gold for convenience and service, so he makes proportionally more gold.
If you only play 1 or 2 hours a day but want to acquire the same rewards at the same pace as someone who plays 5-6 hours, the only way would be to cap that players earnings after 1-2 hours. I doubt that that player would bother to play the remaining 4 hours and I am not sure that that would be beneficial to Anet or the game in general.

So please tell me how much a trader makes?
And who is a trader?
Basically anybody who uses it.
Anet cant do much about it, if people choose to sell their goods for less value instead of waiting for a better price.
I always here how much gold people make on the tp and how other content should have the same ratio.
But those people never mention how they want to implement the risk that is involved in trading into other content rewards.
And what about all those currencies and account bound mats that you cant get on the tp? How will you make those available to those who like the trading post as their content?
Would you be fine, if you would get the choice, every time you get a gold reward, to wait 1 week to 3 months (rng based) to either get 50%, 75%, 150%,200% or 300% of the initial reward?
Because thats the risk and pay out involved with trading.
And i never said nobody wants gold, i just said some people are more concerned about the gold other people get than their own.

If you make the choice to not value any of the luxury items on a personal level, then all 7 pages in this thread become relatively pointless.
I tend to use my time to participate in activities that have the highest enjoyment value for me in the moment and less on how efficiently they generate money or give awards. Ascended and legendaries are largely just side activities I spend the cash on I earn naturally in those activities.

Man if you knew a good place to farm Moas I would be all up in that. Poultry Meat and Eggs, man.
Poultry Meat lost 80% value ever since saurians and wyvern entered the game.
But have fun farming moas.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Legendary weapons generally have the highest amount of account bound mats needed, its pretty much impossible for tp traders to craft them.
And the trading post is an integral part of tyria, its been said many times, just because you have no skill in it, doesnt mean that Anet should remove it.
And the TP isnt the best way to make money.
The median player makes 15% loss.
There still hasnt been any evidence given that playing the tp give the best rewards on average and that those rewards, if they are there, have any negative impact on the game or other players.
Except jealousy and thats a human fallacy, nothing Anet can do about it.

How do you measure it?
I guess you must have a pretty good idea about it somewhere hidden in your head, that you just failed to tell us yet, on how to define profits form the tp, if your intend is to nerf it or tax players more, who make more profit.
I would say profit would be the amount of gold you receive as the result of a transaction. If you list, and sell an item for 10g, you would currently pocket 8.5g from that sale. That would be your profit. That would be the amount used to calculate what added income tax, if necessary, would be needed. It would be calculated at the point the purchase is completed, and removed from the amount you receive when you cash out at the TP.
Now, you might come back with “but I have my own costs, I had to buy those items for 7g, so I actually only made 1.5g on the transaction,” well that’s your own business. If the progressive tax adds up to more than that 1.5g, making that transaction unprofitable to you, then that’s probably not a transaction you should be making.
Aha, so you basically want to penalize people with a higher tax, if they pick up more gold from the tp than a certain amount per day you deem to be too much.
I will tell you why this will completely fail its purpose:
Because it doesnt only penalyze your target group but also the very players you are trying to protect.
Lets say this daily limit is 50g, if i sell stuff on the tp for more than that between 2 daily resets, i have to pay an additional fee.
First of all, it would penalize players, who get a lucky drop that is worth more than 50g, just because they got lucky.
Then there is average joe, who logs in for an your or two every, does some map completion, a meta event, maybe some festival content or some fractals. He doesnt get much loot but whatever he gets and doesnt need, he lists at lowest listing price. But for two weeks, he seemed to have terrible luck. He doesnt know why because he doesnt bother to research the market but somehow all the stuff he lists, seems to constantly lose value. But after two weeks, he gets lucky, something to do with a new patch from Anet or so, he gets told. He doesnt really understands it but he doesnt care. He is happy because out of a sudden all the loot he listed and didnt sell, is being sold within a day.
Boom, 100g in the tp. But unfortunately, he gets penalized for it.
The next day, a great new item goes into the gem store, which he wants to buy gems with gold for, so he checks his material storage for stuff he doesnt need to raise some funds. He sells it on the tp for a value of 150g and again has to pay extra fees, just because he wants to use the trading post.
And it wont diminish my profits in the long run either.
If i buy an item for 20g and would normally sell it once the price is at 60g, i would just wait until it is at 65g, to pay the extra fee.
You also fail to see that all the gold i earn and reinvest into new buy orders, is directly redistributed to other players.
If i put in a lower buy order because my profits are less, someone will get less gold for his loot.
I dont see how this helps anybody or contributes to a more balanced economy in general.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Hence why people work hard all day to relax and not do the same in their spare time.
There is nothing wrong with relaxing, if you want to and can afford it.
But there is something wrong when you demand to be rewarded for relaxing at the same rate as someone who is working.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
First and foremost, it’s a strawman argument. The issue we’re pointing out is that stripping comments of their posters muddles the conversation, regardless of which thread one is trying to follow, and your response is to call us “self-absorbed”? That’s just fallacious, and it’s particularly galling since you’ve been quick to point out strawmen arguments when used against you.
I’m not “stripping” anything from anything, I’m just not typing in poster data when I copy/paste.
Its not only common netiquette but also common courtesy in real life, sometimes even legally required, to provide a source, when you quote someone.
It simply takes statements other people made out of context and prohibits readers of your post to double check the source.
Its disrespectful and doesnt really help you to get your points across.
You dont have to type in poster data, you can just copy/paste it along with the quote.
Its very simple and your reluctance to do so makes it look like you dont want to provide context on purpose.

The visual change for the sake of so-called “reducing the visual noise” probably generated the most united and biggest backlash since the NPE, rarely did I see any criticism that has virtually no-one standing on the ders’ side, except for their own forum bots. In case you don’t know, alot of skill visuals got nerf to the ground, fireball of elem comes to mind, or their auras. The nerf itself wouldn’t cause such outrage if it were individual’s option, but instead enforced down on all of us. You know, Anet, if i got kittenty graphic and refuse to tune it down on my own, then that would be my OWN problem, NOT YOURS. My mom hasn’t died yet and left you to decide for me what is best. I have over 400k items still listed on the TP, worth more than 55k gold, that havent sold yet. Many of them have been there for longer than 2 years also, closing in on 3 years.
You are a far more patient person than I. I would’ve relisted them after maybe a week.
Which illustrates another reason why i probably have more gold than you.
You relist it, so you pay 20% in fees and taxes instead of 15% and you probably already spent whatever gold you got out of it, while mine is still on the tp and i didnt spent the gold.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Its basic math, just multiply the current value of your loot on the tp by 2 or 3, list it at that price and wait until it sells. Thats all there is to it.
Boom, you make as much as a trader. And if it never sells because you gambled at a price that never gets reached? I do have at least a few orders on the TP that I’ve let ride for a year or more. Not everyone has the disposable income to tie up significant amounts for months on end without returns.
You only see the benefits of a perceived high reward that traders seem to get in your opinion and want it for your playstyle as well.
You completely disregard the risks involved.
Once other reward structures get similar penalties applied to them, we can talk about buffing rewards. There are certainly ways to greatly reduce risk from the sort of “yolo” tactic you suggest. There are much safer bets to make with plenty strong returns, so long as you take the time to research and have the tools available to do so. If typical gameplay doesn’t involve enough “risk” to justify the sort of rewards the TP offers, I’d be fine with some sort of “self gambling” system, where a player could bet a certain amount of gold that he could complete an encounter without dying, or with only a fixed number of lives, and only if he beats the spread does he take home the prize. I don’t know that I’d want to gamble on the performance of others, there already enough of that just in time wasted when an event wipes.
It’s not like normal play is entirely without risk. Sure, you aren’t gambling money, you aren’t putting gold up front that you stand to lose, but you are always gambling time, and time is money. There are relatively low risk activities, so you can calculate a “baby slopes” income rate, but if you choose to do something with a higher chance of failure, like raiding or TD meta, or even Auric meta, then you’re chancing that the time you invest in the effort will not be rewarded as the event might fail, in which case you would be out those potential returns.
Your argument that its too hard for the average player to list it at a higher value and expect it to sell at a certain time is completely moot because the trader has to take the same risk.
Yes, but WITH BETTER ODDS. Do you watch John Oliver? He did a piece a couple weeks back on that online sports gambling thing, where they advertise that players make millions of dollars a week at it. And some do. But the ones that do are the ones with massive spreadsheets and algorithms that track player performance, weather, etc., allowing them to lose some, but win many more and come out ahead. Sure, a random guy can just “yolo” it and maybe his picks win and he makes money, but his chances of success are way lower.
Anyone can try, very few will succeed on a regular basis. A player that just “yolos” the TP might make more money on a very small percentage of his sales, but he will tie up the majority of his items in TP-purgatory, never moving, because he will not know which items might move at a higher price under the right conditions, and which never will. Best case he eats the listing fee and relists it, worst case it’s just him out the listing fee AND the potential profit of the item forever.
A player that knows what he’s doing isn’t taking much risk at all, really. Oh, he might take a risk on a few transactions, and lose on them, but he’d win on more than he loses and come out ahead. Would you ever really gamble so much of your wealth on a risky move that it would actually wipe you out? Or do you just make high risk plays with a tiny fraction of your net worth, and mostly make plays that you’re fairly certain will pay out?
That does not mean that those who do succeed deserve to make boatloads of coin off it though. They deserve to have some reward advantage, because they have some superior skill, but it should not be as extreme as in the actual game, it should be maybe a 5% advantage, perhaps even 10%, not a 600% advantage.
Honestly, i dont care, if they award 10g liquid gold for a dungeon or a dynamic event.
Because my personal profits that i will be able to make then on the tp will rise proportionally and i will always be ahead of you with personal profits from the tp compared to your personal rewards from Anet.Right, which is why I don’t think increasing the rewards from other activities, at least not alone, would be a good idea. The solution would be more in reducing the profit potential of high volume TP trading. Progressive tax rates, diminishing returns. The more profit you take in, the more it’s taxed. You would always make more from profiting more, just less and less of it each time, until you’d eventually be making only 1% of your usual profit margins.
You can claim as much as you want that profits on the tp are basically the same than rewards from Anet. They arent.
I acknowledge the same difference that you acknowledge, that is not the difference between our positions. The difference is that I also understand that you acquiring gold, wherever you acquire it from, is still you acquiring gold, and it’s ANet’s responsibility to keep those systems in balance with all others. If they allow players to earn gold by taking it from other players, then it is their responsibility to make sure that this method is in balance with the other methods of a player acquiring gold.
Do you think just because i am a good trader that my listings sell faster than yours?
I have over 400k items still listed on the TP, worth more than 55k gold, that havent sold yet. Many of them have been there for longer than 2 years also, closing in on 3 years.
So how are my odds better than everybody elses?
You are always talking about rewards/profits from the tp and you basically have no idea what you are talking about.
You claim they are too high and you cant even give a proper definition of what profits generated on the tp really are.

Its basic math, just multiply the current value of your loot on the tp by 2 or 3, list it at that price and wait until it sells. Thats all there is to it.
Boom, you make as much as a trader. The only issue I have really is…because of all this increasing prices on the TP.. and everyone trying to make the most amount of gold, eventually EVERYTHING is going to be way over priced and out of the hands of the poor and middle class players.
For example: Anton’s Boot Blade is valued (worth) 2s 64c by Anet (wiki) and is currently selling on the TP for more than 34 gold. That is way overpriced and for some players this could be out of reach.
Once you get into precursor and legendary weapons…that are selling at astronomical prices all because people are trying to make money off the TP. Not necessarily to buy something pricey, but because they wish to amass gold in the game.
So basically the “poor” will never acquire anything pricey, because by the time they make 100g, the price will have moved up to be 300g. Which I find rather sad.
The vendor value Anet sets has very little to do with the value the players set for the item.
The increased prices on the tp are due to additional demand, as the player base as a whole is destroying alot of mats atm to craft stuff or upgrade guild halls, etc.
Its actually positive for poor and middle class players, if basic mats rise in price becasue they can easily farm them and therefore get more value for their loot.
In addition to that, most valuable items that have been traded for over 100g before hot and have no function as a requirement to gain other items, have fallen in value since HoT.

Because my personal profits that i will be able to make then on the tp will rise proportionally and i will always be ahead of you with personal profits from the tp compared to your personal rewards from Anet.
Why?
Because i get my profits from other players and you dont.
If other players get more gold rewards, i get more gold from them.
You can claim as much as you want that profits on the tp are basically the same than rewards from Anet. They arent.
If you want to limit my profits compared to content rewards, you have to change the player behaviour and how they interact with the tp, not buff content rewards.
The sooner you accept this and change your own behaviour of interacting with the tp, the sooner your problem will be solved.

totally the point. and you probably haven’t played much in those 9k hours. or in the very least, you didn’t wvw.
but please, do keep bringing up random kitten answers to questions that weren’t asked.
Rank 2200 i think.
I was mostly talking about the rangers of enemy servers.
Played alot against Deso, for example.

So when are we getting Australian servers mr dev? I was in contact with an A-Net staff member as I had a ticket up and he told me to post on here about Aus servers… So I did… Even your own boys and gals are keen for some bogan aussie action m9. thx xx
He told you to post on here because its not Customer Supports job to find out for you, if Anet plans on opening servers in AUS.
They already mentioned that they dont plan any new servers in new regions.

ranger with a bow and try attacking while running forward.
9k hours in game and i never seen a ranger run forward while shooting his bow, only backwards.

It is 100% a violation of the Terms of Service.
That said, if you hand your friend $25 dollars in cash and he then mails you 500 gold, there’s no way for ANet to tell that that transaction was illicit, so you’d be in the clear. Unless, of course, they take this thread as an admission of guilt, in which case you pretty much kittened yourself.
Basically, they could ban you too because you are obviously helping them to set up a transaction of real currency for in game items.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
I was wondering if its punishable to buy gold from 3rd party sites.Because in my head if i give my friend 25 bucks for 500 gold is the same as if i give some random site 25 bucks for 500 gold. Can they close my account for that?
You are the reason there are so much bugs in this game.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
And the difference is TP gold benefits the economy while liquid gold doesn’t, TP transaction sink gold and deflates gold to gem exchange rate which is beneficial to players, while liquid gold deflates gold making gold to gem exchange rate higher therefore needless to say is not good foe players. The fact is gold is easier to farm than before if you knows how.
Please never dedicate yourself to economy. You’ve no idea what you’re talking about.
I doubt that you have, if you agree with OP in any way.

For an item you’re supposed to cherish for multiple YEARS, 62 days ain’t that long. But the real bottom line here is you can either put in the effort or stand around being jealous of the people who do.
You know what you need to do. Do you want it ENOUGH? Simple as that.
I think what you’re missing is that there’s not a lot of effort involved and lots of enforced “standing around.”
Is this really something that’s difficult to understand? I’d ask you, Nike, and others posting here… what are you not understanding?
Do any of you have experience with time gated crafting? I’ve not see a lot of that experience on display here. I see a lot of “it took me a long time to make my legendary.” Well, bully for you! That long time is gathering the gold and mats — actively working towards the completion of the item.
This isn’t “working towards” the completion of the item. It’s clicking a Craft button once a day for 62 days, and doing no other work whatsoever towards the final reward.
Do you, Nike, and the others posting here, do you feel that clicking a “Craft” button once a day for 62 days is a challenge worthy of your time investment? Do you feel that this is a “legendary” adventure? This clicking the “Craft” button once a day for 62 days? (Well, I suppose if you’re looking for extra “challenge” you can click it 87 times!)
Do you feel, in that moment, when you click that button, that you’re partaking in an epic quest to forge the ultimate weapon? What do you feel during the wait until you can click it again? Is there a building sense of anticipation, eagerness perhaps, to click the button again?
Timegates werent implemented to feel legendary but to make you log in on a regular basis.
The timegate on asc mats has several other reasons. One is to give a profit to crafters, they explicitly stated that in the blog post before asc crafting got introduced.
Another is to protect some markets. They daily production of asc mats is capped by 1 per account per day. If people could craft more than that, they would, especially in times of additional demand, just like now. This would lead to even bigger price spikes than we already had.
The asc timegate can be negated anyways by just buying it from the tp and Charged quartz can also be obtained via different means, if you are willing to pay a premium for it.

Only God know’s how many of those gold and item sellers is actually Arena Net…
Arena Net knows too.

This relies on the assumption that players have plenty of money to poor into ToT bags, which does not apply to the majority of players. Since the return comes from a select few rare items, investing lower amounts of gold to even obtain only a few Charged Crystals is likely to net you no return.
I just got 1000 bags for 70g, opened them, sold loot for 90g and got 2 charged crystals.
Then i put in buy orders for 4 more stacks.
On some batches of 1000 bags, you might not get close to 70g back but whenever you get a more valuable drop, like the poly upgrades or an endless potion, you get ahead again.
In the end you might end up losing a couple of gold per stack but its nowhere near 100-50% of the initial investment that you claim.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
…It took me 3 years to do a legendary. 62 days is not that long, I think the first legendary weapons didn’t start to show up in the core game till 3 months after launch…
You (and others) are missing one important point, and that is that upon release everyone started out at 0. No one had any characters, no one had any materials and no one had any gold. Now, 3 years down the line, a lot of players have accumulated wealth and thus have a headstart on the new legendaries. Of course the second generation legendaries are going to appear much faster, the same would have been the case if players had played for 3 years before the release of the first generation legendaries.
New players who are starting as of this moment wont have a legendary in 62 days. This is solely the minimum time requirement players have to wait. The game has changed a lot over the last 3 years, and making a comparison between time requirements for the 2 different generations of legendaries therefor doesn’t make any sense.
Yeah, charged quartz can be bought with ToT bags, so no idea what this fuzz is about
According to the drop rate from ToT bags on wiki (which is most likely not accurate but gives a decent estimation), it would take ~1k bags to receive a single Charged Quartz. Now at the current price of about 7s per bag, that would statistically take 70g per Charged Quartz, and thus ~3.8k gold to obtain all 55 Charged Quartz required. Unless you are a rich player, such as yourself, this is definitely not an option. Thus the large majority of players who have all materials at hand (in the form of Quartz Crystals) will still have to wait a predefined amount of time, just for the sake of waiting.

The gem->gold->gem conversion is an artificial fallacy. The gem store is essentially printing new money and I don’t care what anyone says, there is WAY more gold coming in to the economy via the gem store than is going in to the gem store. In game gold is just worth too much for most people to waste it like that. 142g for just 800 gems…OUCH!!!
Since release, i bought more than 100k gems with gold.

i still wonder what this 62 day timegate is…..
Up to 87 days, according to the link in the OP’s post. I would have thought that you could do more than one collection at a time or buy ToT bags to get charged Quartz, but I haven’t studied it so I could be wrong.
Collection 1 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Astralaria_I:_The_Device
Zinn’s studyguide: 12 days_
Collection 2 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Astralaria_II:_The_Apparatus
25 deldrimor steel: 25 days_
Collection 3 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Astralaria_III:_The_Mechanism
10 ultra hot sphere’s (assuming you can buy/fill the required items more than once a day)
Quartz vial aka 50 Charged Quartz crystals: 50 days! (assuming you don’t get lucky on the home instance node)
I realize some people have religiously made their charged quartz each day or did some prior preperation. But for those starting out fresh this means at least 87 (62 if you buy your deldrimor) days from start to finish.
Yeah, charged quartz can be bought with ToT bags, so no idea what this fuzz is about

Bolts of embroidered silk are being traded on the tp, so someone already figured out how to acquire them.
Just because the way to acquire it isnt served to you on a silver platter somewhere on the internet, doesnt mean the item doesnt exist or it is bugged.
Back in the day, when you played an rpg, you had to find out everything for yourself or rely on clues given in game because the internet didnt exist.
If you dont know how to acquire the item, you simply are not a skilled enough scribe or player.
Happy crafting.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
It’s not on the trading post when you de-select available items only.. does that mean it would be account bound on acquire?
I was guessing it might be more like Infinite Light, perhaps with 250x Orichalcum Staff heads instead? Or throwing in some sun beads?
Or even more likely, using the Exalted Staff Core from the Auric Staff recipe: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exalted_Staff_Core
and/or the Oiled Ancient Staff Head/Shaft?
If its not on the trading post, it doesnt mean that its not tradeable.
I think it only shows up, once someone crafts or obtains it.
The info on the wiki and skin probably comes from the wardrobe or datamining.
And good luck crafting orichalcum staff heads.
The staff heads i used to craft are made out of wood, not ore.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.

Good question, i dont see any timegates that are avoidable.
