Thread should be sticky so GW2 forum member can easy share what Anet post on reddit.

Making a sticky doesnt really mean its more visible. Most forum members dont really check stickies because they think they already checked them out.
A good example are the frequent threads about the common in game mail scam from account hackers. A thread about this pops up every other week with someone wanting to warn others, even though there is a sticky about it.

^ I’m not getting into all this with you, here (or anywhere, ATM).

I’ve had too many discussions about all this, already, elsewhere and this is, after all, a topic about in-game economy on a games forum.

I’d be interested to see who, here, has actually said they “hate” capitalism?

Seems to me, that no one has said that and that all the name-calling, of that nature, has come entirely from the other side.

Also, to accuse anyone, who can see the flaws in unfettered capitalism, of being ignorant, or a terrorist, is incredibly offensive.

But, I assume that was intended.

Also guys, please try to remember that you are not your economic system.

We are all human beings, first and foremost.

Economic systems are supposed to work for us; not the other way around.

nobody called anybody a terrorist, you were the first one to use that term

You’re right, he didn’t say terrorist, he said potential “dictator” and/or someone who wants to conduct “mass genocide”, which is also an incredibly ignorant, offensive and utterly inaccurate thing to say.

As you well know.

In fact, it’s even worse than accusing someone of being a terrorist.

If you’re going to correct someone, at least be gracious enough to add an admission that the thing they got slightly wrong, was less bad than the thing that was actually said…

2. People who understand economics, know that capitalism is the best system we’ve ever created, but rail against it in order to draw in support from the people in group 1 so that they can engage in mass genocide or set themselves up as a dictator once the existing government is overthrown by the angry mob they’ve whipped up into a frenzy with their dangerous rhetoric.

Quite honestly, I was so utterly shocked and appalled by reading this, here, that I used the wrong word.

This is a games forum.

Hateful, prejudiced posts like this have no place here (or anywhere).

I agree with you that the OP was out of line, thats why i reported it.
I just replied to your post because it aggrevated the issue and threw the next generalisation around.
I think terrorism these days is mostly motivated by political and religious views and not capitalistic ones.
Most terror cells have a very sophisticated and capitalistic way of raising funds these days.

Can you maybe write down those profit control suggestions you are talking about in a standalone post without replies to other posts? Because the only suggestion i can think of that you made here is taxing players that pick up more gold than a certain daily threshold from the tp. And that wouldnt be profit control, that would just be limiting trading volume in general, nothing more.
It would also have a kinds of side effects for the general price equilibrium and volatility.
Maybe i missed some other suggestions that you made because i only skim your posts for replies you made to my personal points.

I have a profit control suggestion. Here it is:

“More people should learn to barter.”

Many of the in-game merchants seem to agree since they offer this suggestion whenever someone speaks to them. The “problem” of flippers can be easily solved by more flippers, right? Given enough flippers, at some point there are essentially no more profit margins. This is already the case for many goods like ectos. With enough flippers, all of these “evil” profits get spread out among all the players instead of accumulating into the bank of a select few. Players like Ohoni who object to all of this TP profiteering should start flipping themselves for the greater good. A good start is to make all purchases via buy orders and all sales via sell orders. Don’t curse the darkness. Light a candle and make Tyria a better world for all.

Exactly. Profit on the tp comes 100% from other players, not Anet, that why its futile to ask Anet to balance or limit profits on the tp. As long players are willing to pay a premium for instant gratification, i will make profits. As Anet based its business model on instant gratification through micro transactions, i can be relatively sure that that mindset wont change.

Well to be fair there was this tid bit:

People who hate capitalism fall into one of two groups:
1. People who don’t understand economics, see something they don’t like being done by some individuals, and blame the entire system.

Basically saying someone may either not understand economics OR be some genocidal maniac if they do……well you can see how that might translate into calling someone a terrorist

tl;dr genocidal maniac=terrorist

So he put the label on it, thats what i said.

why the new Holiday themed Snowflake Glider cannot be gifted?!
My best friends account had been suspended for buying their own Gem’s from the Trading Post. So instead of her risking another account suspension I figured I would simply gift them to her since I had a spare 800 Gems on my account.

Seriously not joking, their accounts were suspended for 72 hours for using the Trading Post to buy Gem too much. Can’t believe this is a thing but it is and now they rarely spend money for Gems anymore lol.

Hey Just: Did your friend submit a ticket about that suspension? It sounds really odd to me. However, I know that there are certain protections in place to protect us (and victims of identity theft) from the abuse of stolen credit cards. For example, if someone was “hacked” and his/her card numbers became known by a scammer, that person could purchase 100 upgrades and distribute them across 100 accounts before the credit card was officially flagged as stolen. So some delays are there to protect the card holder (and us) from invalid/bogus transactions.

But a legitimate buyer is always welcome to submit a ticket to ask for assistance and it’s usually given very promptly. We greatly appreciate the support that the player is wanting to give us, and we want that person to be able to get what he/she desires!

Unfortunately forum ban appeals arent handled that promptly. Whenever i appealed at 2 day ban, i usually got an answer a couple of days after the ban ran out.
Wether the appeal is granted or not at that point doesnt really make a difference, except getting your infraction point removed.

I didn’t say that it was silly to have exclusive items to specific game modes, I said it was silly for people to believe that owning these items somehow conveys “prestige.” If people want to do that, then that’s fine, but it shouldn’t be used as an excuse to exclude desirable skins from those players who might want them.

If you dont exclude somebody from getting that reward, its by definition not exclusive anymore.

so the chest of the slayer, the head of the cook the boots of the pirate… wtv.

…so basically skin packs without transmutation charge. Basically what i suggested way back when…

If you don’t know difference between outfits and skins, well then, so be it.

Pretty sure Wanze was referring to these 3 skins, available in game (outside of the gemstore) :

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightfury_Skin
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shackles_of_Madness_Skin
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Karka_Helm_Skin

Interesting to point out that once again, these armour pieces are just head, shoulders and gloves. Like Wanze said, chest and legs are a clip-fest waiting to happen. I can think of a few gem-store armour sets that have been just head, shoulders and gloves (and in one case, feet). Lawless, shadow of the dragon, Scarlet’s, Toxic… perhaps there are more.

Also, head, shoulders and gloves are pretty gender-netural (and apart from gloves, race-neutral too). Chest and leg pieces probably take the longest to design because there need to be multiple different designs to accomodate both male and female forms. I would imagine that there would be some altering (or lengthy design process) to ensure that a chest piece looks good on both the skinniest sylvari and the burliest norn.

What Wanze said in his previous posts (regarding clipping) is also very true. Outfits are far easier to make than full armour sets. My guess is that they also sell better because they’re slightly cheaper and any armour class can use them. Outfits appear as regularly as they do because they’re easier to make. You certainly can’t expect to see 3 armour skins in-game (one for each weight) in the same time you can expect to see one new outfit.

PS: To quote somebody, you hit the “quote user” button (looks like an arrow on the bottom right of the person’s post). You then get led to a proper reply box page (instead of the quick reply box you see at the bottom of the thread page). You can then write whatever you want underneath the text that’s already there. You don’t need to have the quote and your response in separate posts.

EDIT: Looks like you got your responses and learnt how to quote properly in the time it took me to write my response. Oh well. :P

For quoting, that’s what i did in the end for proper replying to stop exchanging meaningless provoking. And for armour… come on it’s been over 3 years. They could have added at least 1 or 2 armour skins. I just felt like they are becoming lazier compared to very first season. If they’ve decided not make skins anymore, it cannot be helped but just like I’ve said few clippings do not matter as they are unavoidable.

3 new armor skins and 4 new weapon skins earned in game during halloween was quite an improvement compared to earlier festivals.

Oh and as far as I know, there are no other Halloween skins beside weapons and separate shoulder skins which of course are not whole armour sets that I was referring to.

You dont need whole armor sets, if you want to mix and match.

Suggestion: Luck Eater

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

We have got an eater of bloodstone dust, Empyreal, and Dragonite. What about an Eater of luck? Maybe what it is, is a bad tempered or bad luck monster that eats luck and you have a chance (like all the others) at something good within.

It’s been suggested before (there have been some productive and some, let’s say less constructive threads recently). It’s tricky for ANet because they created Luck with the idea that (most) people would take years and years to max Magic Find and they never wanted to make people feel forced to do that. So the rewards can’t be too valuable or even include the chance at “something good”.

On the other hand, there are increasing numbers of people who are at max (or near max), for a variety of reasons and it’s never good to leave people feeling that the only alternatives are hoarding or deleting.

So what sort of uses fit these two requirements:

  • Alternative use that has some value to those with max MF (via luck).
  • Should not increase the incentive to max MF, i.e. should not pressure people to grind.

One idea I’ve had (for using XP after maxing masteries) is to convert it to small amounts of unrefined ascended mats. Nearly everyone has too many dragonite, bloodstone, or empyreal, but lots of people are short on one of the three, because they spend less time in the parts of the game that generate that mat. What if you could convert excess luck (or XP)? It would have some utility, but at 16-20s/stack using one of the eaters, it’s not something that will make people feel forced to max out luck (or masteries).

Swim boosters.

And if they were intended to add new armours as part of expansion, not cash-grabbing merchandise, they should have added more variations. So far, I see four (Bladed set, Leystone set, guild set and finally mistward set). For my opinion, bladed set looks freaking ridiculous.
It doesn’t look authentic at all. I haven’t seen anyone equipping full set. Leystone? Yeah I would take only for helmet. The problem with these two sets are that they are excessively inclined to specific thematic area (bladed, rocky look) that it is really hard to mix-match with other styles. The only armour set I highly would recommend to have is Mistward armours. New guild armours look authentic though, yet it is guild armours, which becomes meaningless if player is not in a guild and prefer the solo play. New elite specialization armours? Oh yes, some of them look amazing such as Herald’s Shoulderplate and Reaper’s hood. They look kitten but as a warrior who chose berserker elite specialization, what do i get? A freaking skull helmet that look like a low-level bandit gear? Man you’ve got to be kidding!

If you expect to like every new armor skin they introduce, you are being even more naive.

Man, this is the time when Anet really should reflect players’ demands.

They dont do this out of spite, they do it because outfits are easier to design because they dont have as much clipping issues as mix and match armor skins.
If they release armor skins in game, its usually single skins and mostly gloves, helmets or shoulders and weapons.
Chest pieces and pants generate too much clipping issues.

Wanze, I thought they did it because players asked them not to sell armors in the gemstore? I’ve heard that repeatedly. Is it not true? And, assuming for the moment that it is, knowing that they are a company that exists to make money, anyone who thought we would then see more armor skins via in-game means was being naive.

i dont think they really released more armor skins in the gem store than they released in game. I think its 6 for each armor class in the store and probably about the same in game, if not more.
Im not too big on style but single armor skins are probably pretty even as well or in favor of in game skins by now.

But everyone who thought we would get new armor sets in game at the same pace as outfits in the gem store, is being naive, yes.

League PvP made me hate PvP

in PvP

Posted by: Wanze.8410

Wanze.8410

They’re legendary pvp wings, you have to do pvp for it. What’s so illogical about it?

The problem is that they are “legendary PvP wings” only because that’s the label ANet arbitrarily chose to slap on them. They could have instead slapped on “Legendary Gem Store Wings,” or “Legendary Collection Quest Wings,” or “Legendary ‘On Golden Wings’ Addventure Wings” if they wanted and it would have been equally as appropriate.

Because they decided to make them “PvP wings,” that means that players who enjoy PvP and do it a lot can get them with little to no effort outside the time they were already going to be spending PvPing over the league season, while players who do not enjoy PvP will end up having to do a ton of PvPing, and possibly not get the wings at all, whether they want them or not. This presents a less than ideal scenario no matter how it plays out.

The better solution is to offer multiple paths, some more efficient than others, but all leading to the same goal. The Specialization weapons are a good example of this. Someone in a reddit thread was complaining that they required high amounts of HoT map currencies, and that they really hated a certain map. But there are safetynets for this. There is a device which on a daily basic can convert 25 of one currency into 10 of another. It’s inefficient, but you could potentially farm just the one map and earn enough currency to convert into all the other types. It would take you longer, but if you enjoy the process, then the option is available.

I’d like alternatives like that to the Ascension path, something that might take longer overall, might involve more actual effort, but over other areas of the game, areas you might prefer more.

There is a fractal backpiece you can only get by doing fractals.

There is, and I’ve been consistently in favor of broadening it’s requirements as well, including allowing you to advance part, if not all of it in PvP if you so chose.

If you cannot make efffort to get it, well then you don’t deserve it anyways.

True, and nobody’s suggesting otherwise, but why should that effort have to be spent confined to a single activity, whether you enjoy that activity or not?

There is no gold grind. I earn lots of it while playing my favourite content, the trading post.

For you. But to a player who does not find the trading post to be their favorite, it is a grind, and it’s a grind that is far out of balance with other potential activities. That’s why there should be a multitude of options, and they should be in balance with each other, not identical, that would be impossible, but at least within some form of parity, as the various classes are in PvP matches.

its fair because its balanced by the players and not Anet

It’s not balanced at all because ANet chooses not to enforce any balance. You could as easily claim that a PvP system would be balanced even if some classes absolutely destroy any other and some are absolutely destroyed by any other, simply because players could choose to pick the “good” classes and avoid the “bad” ones. Classically, that situation would not meet the definition of a well balanced PvP system, just so you know.

A grind is something where you have to perform a certain task or kill a single enemy continously in order to get a reward.
Gold is earned in a wide variety of ways, so players can choose which path they take.
Grind doesnt equal effort.

Many players asked for exclusive rewards that display their achievements in certain content. Thats what Anet delivered.

I think maybe it is because I am newer to this game. But none of this surprises me. The game is F2P. They have to make money somehow. These people don’t work for free. The astronomical costs of items in games is by design. Why pretend otherwise? They NEED you to pull out your credit card and buy gems or the game goes away. Purchases of the game will only go so far. To keep it running there needs to be a revenue stream.

I can understand why people are upset. To be honest I would rather have no gem store, pay a subscription and have everything earn able in game. But that isn’t happening.

This doesn’t excuse the the obvious problems stated in many other posts. I am just saying, I understand why they do this. Not just why, but why the have to do it.

Basically, a number of people are abnormally mad at anything Gem Store related because they are tee’d off about the general direction of the game, HoT (the expansion), and, in some cases, more recent Gem Store practices (such as stuffing desirable items inside of “packs” and making them only purchasable through those packs with a bunch of assorted crap that no one wants, or releasing gliders as a new feature and then making 1% of the glider skins available through actual gameplay and 99% Gem Store purchase).

In other words, people are looking for more reasons to hate on the Gem Store because they’re already mad at it and the game. It’s understandable frankly. It’s not entirely logical half the time, but it’s understandable.

So here I’m going to put some logic in it.
Your character gets like 2 new skin sets by playing HoT. The rest is through the gemstore. Every week, we get to see new outfits going through the gemstore, while not seeing any new skin unlockable by playing the expansion.
There’s a clear overwhelming balance issue here.

Now people are going with a “but it’s f2p” as an argument. The thing is, this expansion is sold the same price as the core game when it came out. But the core game came with a lot more skins than this. The core game came with a lot more maps than this.

Yeah, you’ll come back by saying, “the expansion provides whole new mechanism which is a lot of work etc”. Well I agree. But they could at least provide at least a satisfying amount of new gear set so we could further customize our character.

And then you’ll say “They didn’t have time to create many new gear skins because they focused on providing actual gameplay”… well they have time to create those outfits every week.
“But it’s f2p” uuuuuhh…

Outfits aren’t skins, end of argument. Outfits can’t be mixed and matched. They’re inferior to skins.

Yet we have those outfits that can even dye the animation part like flame, with some of them looking way better than armor skins.

They’re not inferior, they’re just easier to make.

And they dont cost transmutation charges.

Just make the wings tradeable on the tp, so he can farm his pve and buy it for a couple of thousand gold.
Would only take a few weeks of flipping items on the tp and youre done.

I’m on record as saying that bad options are preferable to no options, but good options are better still. Being able to buy them on the TP would be a bad solution, with all sorts of problems of its own, but it would at least be better than ONLY being able to get them via PvP, if only by a slight margin.

It’s still important to go for the best solution though, one that provides multiple genuine paths of progression that involve genuine effort within the game world, not just gold grind or pip grind.

There is no gold grind. I earn lots of it while playing my favourite content, the trading post. Its not repetitive because i can trade in a new market every day, its fair because its balanced by the players and not Anet and it is dynamic because with every content patch or bug fix, Anet shakes up the meta.

Armor skins take a whole lot more effort than outfits and weapons skins because those have way less clipping issues.

Wintersday will introduce new skins.

I have the perfect solution for OP.
Just make the wings tradeable on the tp, so he can farm his pve and buy it for a couple of thousand gold.
Would only take a few weeks of flipping items on the tp and youre done.

Players as gold eaters arent good for me because i can only send 500g per week, thats only ~25k gold per year i can get rid of that way. And everybody who offered me this, couldnt keep up their end of the bargain because when i told them to send me account bound mats and tokens in return, they didnt.

Slaves defeat their purpose of existance, if they can simply refuse to do what they are told.

You could always just buy stacks of the very expensive materials like ascended stuff and send them in the mailings instead. XD

OK, will do, once you figured out how to send me the account bound mats.

On the value of "luxury" rewards

Wanze.8410

No, I didn’t miss his point and I am certainly not envious.

That was the point I was making and keep trying to make.

This isn’t about envy.

As a non-envious/jealous type of person (I’m probably the least envious/jealous person you could ever meet, in fact), I find it offensive that people keep accusing anyone, who can see there is a problem here, of being envious.

Not only that, but in terms of rewards, in this game, I have very little to be envious about anyway.

As I have almost everything I need and/or want.

I don’t have legendaries, as I feel they are overly expensive and so, made a conscious decision to not buy them with real money, as I feel it would be unfair on others to do so.

Not to mention, it would amount to overpaying for the game; especially, considering it’s not the best game it could be, frankly.

I have bought lots of skins, however, as they are “just” skins and I do have a couple of ascended weaps and some armour, from drops.

I can’t guarantee no one else is envious, obviously, but the point is that not everyone is and there is far more to this situation than just (potential) envy.

All I can assume is that all of you saying this are very envious personality types yourselves – which is, probably what motivates you to play the TP so much, to get stuff – and you are just projecting that onto others.

Really, there is no other explanation, other than possible trolling, or repeating what you hear from other (envious personablity type) people, parrot fashion.

This made me really laugh out loud – what problem is there?
I can tell you what a problem was for me: Not being able to get a bow for my level in wow as the TP was controlled by 2 persons max. I had enough gold but no bow had been offered. You can get anything in this game without the TP, so I don’t really understand what “the problem” is.

The problem, lest we all forget at this advanced point in the proceedings, is the one described by Ohoni, in his OP.

That people have a tendency to become demotivated and/or disinterested and/or depressed, if the disparity between the rich and the poor is too great, or if one person receives a windfall that makes them disproportionately more wealthy than the average person in their community.

The “community”, in this case, being the players of the game.

As opposed to the, largely mistaken, common belief (especially in very capitalistic countries, like the US) that witnessing other people’s success/wealth/fortune motivates people to work harder.

The problem here, is that people might decide to just give up and leave the game, if they feel their only viable option to make a reasonable amount of gold, is to play the TP.

…and yes, we could all choose to say that what other people make shouldn’t affect people negatively.

However, the findings of the study, mentioned in the OP, would suggest otherwise.

That should be of interest to Anet, if they want to retain players.

Basically, i own as much as everybody else in game: Absolutely nothing.
Because everything we accumulated in game (bar gems paid for with real money that havent been spent on gold or gem store items yet) is legally owned by Anet. They just allow us to use it.

And if Anet wouldnt create a desperation for more wealth in game for the player base, there would be no incentive to do micro transactions. You might get happy customers but hungry employees.

No, Wanze, that is not the problem here and you know it.

You’re just feigning admiration for that post, because it happens to suit your cause to do so.

Obviously, if no one wants any of the rewards (or to accumulate gold) in a game, none of this matters; but the truth is that most people do want some, or all, of them.

Assuming that is, inevitably, going to be the case (and just as well, for Anet’s bank balance, that it is), the problem is that one, niche, way of playing the game is FAR better than others at achieving them.

The “choice” in a game should, pretty obviously, not be “Play the TP, be rich IRL, or become a Buddhist.”.

Much as I admire Buddhists…

I think you missed the point MadRabbit was making.

His point was:

- he plays the parts of GW2 he enjoys
- he doesn’t care about others getting shinies before him
- playing the content he enjoys provides him with enough gold to aquire the amount of ascended/legendarys to his liking

And that’s just the case. You could even only pvp all day, and eventually you’d get enough gold to deckout in ascendedIf you stoped worrying about how much others are making but instead focused on ejoying the game, you’d greatly improve your gaming experience in GW2.

This has nothing to do with “not wanting rewards”. It has to do with “you’ll get them eventually while having fun”. Maybe stop trying to race down everything but instead enjoy the game.

It would also free you of the envy against others who can spend more time, spend more money, are better organised, are better skilled, etc.

Oh and you’d have a lot more longterm goals and enjoyment too.

No, I didn’t miss his point and I am certainly not envious.

That was the point I was making and keep trying to make.

You gotta live with it.
I get constantly accused of opposing suggestions because i want to protect my wealth, current investments and future profit margins, even though i have a proven track record of giving quality trading advice and sharing my knowledge.

If i oppose suggestions from other players concerning trading or the economy, i do so because I honestly think they are a bad idea and wont benefit the game or the general player base.

In three years of discussing about this stuff, i havent seen any suggestion that would bring my potential profits more in line with average rewards for average players, except banning me from trading. And even that wouldnt be beneficial for the player base because I am basically only paid for providing a service to other players, which they are willing to pay and i bring prices more in equilibrium.
That goes for flipping and investing.

On that note, your link provides an english site for me.

Probably because i am not located in russia.
But i am curious?
Does it give a purchase offer in rubel or EUR/USD?

3500 Rubles. 70 R per 1$. Not cheap.

Ah, thanks. I dont want this to become a political discussion and I cant say that i am particularly well informed about the sanctions from both sides but I wouldnt be surprised, if US companies werent allowed to sell goods and services inside the russian federation for foreign currency anymore.
And thats why Anet decided to offer it for Rubles.

Anyways, there were plenty of posts from devs that they dont plan any new localisations for several reasons.

It doesnt only include text translation of the in game text, but also Customer Support and Official Forums in Russian. Voice Over is another expensive thing to do and you would have to translate every official blogpost and stuff into russian too.

Now can you tell me how to make gold while being active in the events and world around me ?

No…okay. I see how this is, GPH > FUN & REWARDING CONTENT.

Might as well get in touch with the real game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL7n5mEmXJo

shiny baubles are a nice extra 30s, if they keep piling up.
Completing map meta events are generally a great way to make use of that.

One of my favourite meta event has always been the assault on the centaur camps in harathi hinterlands. Apart from the shiny baubles, you get some nice t3-4 mats from ressource nodes and plenty of mob kills during the defense events, plus a world boss at the end.
The chain has 10 events and you need 40 to max out your map rewards, which yields you 44 baubles or 13.2g, thats 3.3g extra liquid gold rewards now that you make, if you do that chain 4 times a week compared to before HoT.

There are a couple of other meta event chains on other maps that include 10+ events and decent loot along the way.

The best ones imho are the 3 event chains in straits of devastation for the assault on balthazar temple. Lots of mobs spawning and apart from shiny baubles, there is also other loot during different weeks that is quite decent. t6 claws nearly trade for 30s and t6 blood for 60s.
That meta event isnt done frequently though because its hard. But i think its a great dynamic event chain you can do with a guild.

The other two orr maps also have great map rewards, especially if you have charged lodes or giant eyes in the rotation.
But is more like a farm fest.

gw2efficiency has gathering maps for rich metal nodes and other node clusters… I don’t think you could make 500+g in about 2 days from that though, even with the watchwork pick. How much time did you spend per day?

Yes you are right, I made about 30g per hour (from gathering only) but I made 27 deldrimor steels from those materials, is like 3g more per.

the problem is that you cant make 27 deldrimor in 2 days, unless you already owned 25 timegated lumbs of mithrillium before.
However, 30g per hour is probably possible and still way more than most people make with other farms.
And i appreciate you trying to help out others and share your knowledge, just thought i point the fallacy out.

Hey, I’d be willing to let them buy achievements with gold in a heartbeat, if it meant implementing the sort of profit-controls I’ve been suggesting. They can have all the achievements they want.

Also this is not an “Adventure game” – I have never seen it marketed as such. This is an MMORPG. MMORPG have economies built into them.

Look at any official marketing material for this game, what do you see? You see people swinging swords and shooting spells, fighting monsters. That is the primary selling point of this game. Do they show people standing around in LA with their TP UI’s open? No they do not. It is something you can do, but it should be incidental to the game experience. Even if you want to insist, against all reason, that it should be considered a co-equal element of the game to, say, dungeon running, then it would STILL be beholden to being balanced against those activities, with equivalent levels of of reward, no higher.

Here is a quote from a blog post released on August 23rd 2012, so before launch:

Guild Wars 2 has an incredible virtual economy—one of the largest ever created.

Doesnt sound to me like an advertisement for an adventure game.

If it was considerably cheaper, everybody would just buy deldrimor ingots form the tp and sell the dusk they get until deldrimor got so expensive and dusk so cheap that it isnt profitable anymore.

It was implemented as a long term goal and more than a third of the crafting cost goes towards circumnavigating the daily timegate on deldrimor.
If you craft them yourself for the next 3 months, you only pay 633g, if you get all mats on current buy orders.

Are you sure this auction was from Anet and not an unofficial 3rd party side?
