In my opinion your tankyness is overkill. I use against VG a normal dps mes, just with Knight trinkets:
Got no problems at all with that build.
And yes TFFF (I call you that now “TheFrighteningFrenchFry”), they fixed iAvenger along with banners and (frost) spirits. They now favor players in your squad > players > minions.

I used to beleve MI is weak too, yet it’s totally fine in pvp, and in pve it’s just not our job to also give a very long stealth. Yet it’s still fine for granting 15 sec stealth tough.
The only thing that could be buffed IF you want to see it buffed is a lower cd.

Short: The shield gives quickness and alacrity. A damage phantasm only gives you like 2.5k dps. If you are the only mes in your group I highly recommend to rather boost the dps of your allies than your own. You should see what an ele or engi can do with alacrity, it’s insane. Ofc those peps also have to be capable of handling it ^^ So again, different builds for different allies.

Yea my rotation is always 3 phants → T(F5)W → all the wells → ToT → F5 → ToT → WoR → all the wells → what’s off cd → repeat.
I’d say scholar is only good if you are not tanking, so far only good for Sabetha. At veil guardian and gorsy it’s most likely you that should tank. At veil they are never good, since the aura just keeps you below 90% most of the time. Gorsy would be ok if you wouldn’t tank, tough.
Our guild always stays stacked behind gorseval, while the tank (mes) stays infront of him and all the wells and ToT’s gonna hit my allies. The first link’s gorseval vid is exactly what I meant wish “scared chickens”. Too much movement that isn’t required, unless you’re running 10% food, yet then it’s just bad positioning.
About 4x ToT:
CS has 46 sec CD, yet I want to cast WoR 2 times so the CD will rather be 48, +quickness cast time, 51 in reality. In that 51 sec I can cast ToT exactly 4 times:
-> 12 + 18 + 18 = 48 sec, now just say 3 full sec cast time with quickness (I’d be rather 2 tough) and you’re fine, I don’t see the problem.

In a real fight with my guild, everyone stays where they have to stay. They don’t just run around like scared chickens or stay whereever they want. :P This may be completly different with pugs so I totally agree with you that different mesmer builds and runes are optimal, according to your allies. But for my guild, I do expect everyone to stay in nearly every well and catch nearly every ToT.
So how do you get 58 sec? I cast 1x TW (22s), 3x WoA (18s) and 4x ToT (24s). This means 64s quickness every 51s. With that indeed might miss one or two skills and keep it up. That’s why I said “nearly every well / ToT”.
There is currently no place where you would miss your team with ToT in raids, if done correctly. SoI is not required to keep up quickness for your sub squad, you don’t need more than ToT, WoA and TW.
You don’t need soi at all, it just deals 0 damage and spreads a boon that is already there. With leadership and a rev, your party has 100% quickness uptime and since the shield’s quickness is the only one that affects all 10 peps in the party, is better to have more boon duration than to share your own quickness to 5 allies. So leadership is indeed better than chrono in raids, yet not in fractals or that other content noone talks about anymore … :P
Same goes for alacrity: You have 100% uptime already with 4 wells and just one avenger and if you take mimic over calamity, you extrend your CD of your F5 since you have to wait for mimic to get off cd for like 10 rl sec. Calamity can be cast so often between 2 F5 that this and the more often casted F5 and it’s benefits will surely outdamage a 3rd damage phantasm wich is shattered sometime anyway.
If you take illusions instead of duelling wich I highly recommend, mimic has no place in your utilities. Neither does soi because of the reasons above and this gives you the sexy 12sec cd well wich huge damage spikes and great defensive abilities for ads like at sabby or gorsy – calamity.
Air has been stealth nerfed and the wiki is wrong atm. With 3000 power it deals about 1000 damage every (in practice) 4 sec wich is like 250 dps increase, wich is laughtable.

I then calculated the accuracy sigils dps (in the beginning for other professions) and since Chronomancer itself average dps isn’t as low as it used to be, mainly because of calamity and F1 and the constant 9% damage modifier (illusions won’t die anymore), I’d say the sigils are about even, just that accuracy helps with reflection whereas air doesn’t help you. Same goes for aoe damage, since accuracy is for every attack and air only one target. For every other profession tough, air is a no go at the current state.
DNT made a terrible mistake by recommending air, but since they did it multiple times already I bet my 50 cent that they bought tons of air sigils and now they sell them. I mean comon, I can’t be the only one who noticed they increased in price from 3 to 7 gold … Accuracy probably was just too commonly used to be manipulated.
However, Xyonon’s build wouldn’t work for me in my regular Raid group. Namely, I would be well over 100% in critical strike chance if I changed nothing. In which case I might opt for something like Air Sigil. Pricing is also something that may be a make-break deal for some players.
67.81% crit chance in my build.

stop using runes of force/accuracy they don’t affect illusions
Any suggestions to replace force for raid environment.

worst advice ever … air is better than accuracy when you have less than 9000 dps, and fire is even worse. Mesmer damage in raids does not come from phantasms, it comes from your attacks, your wells, your shatter and everything else is passive damage from alacrity and quickness.
Force and accuracy are the best sigils on ALL dps professions. Only healers go for different sigils.
This is you endgoal you want to aim for for raids. If you got questions, go ahead, I’ll check this thread to answer you

I actually think it is fine right now, maybe slightly higher crit chance would be nice. Currently it seems to be critting around 20% of the times, critting for about 4.5K.
I’ve tested this in the mists quite a bit, and mine didnt crit nearly as much. I’m not sure Anet even wants this to crit, but if they do, then yes the chance needs to reflect the scrappers own precision.

I tested it again, at 80% crit chance it critted 1 out of 20 hits.it has been stated by someone from Anet already that gyros do not get stats from players , except Power for blast gyro and healing power for medi gyro
Power from blast gyro? That’s a lie. The number shown in the tooltip is the “power from engi”. If you see the uncritted damage and then use bomb1 uncrittet and compare the damage you’ll notice – NO this is NOT the engis power transfered to the gyro.
This gyro is atm only for cc, heal, superspeed. Damge is always almost zero, especially in parties where it doesn’ have might …
you did Not Mention the MUST REPLACE trait: DECISIVE RENOWN it has to go it is useless all around and you cant kill and revive your own allies on purpose fr this trait to even be a thing
It’s completly useless in pve, agreed. Yet in pvp it’s pretty strong. It’d be nice if it would have an additional effect like “granting superspeed grants fury for 2 sec”.
The damage number is also higher than the actual damage, same goes for blast gyro. It’s your power SHOWING the damage, yet the gyro has it’s own stats, wich means he deals like 20 damage instead of 80. And he barely crits :<
I also have NO idea what those 10% are, where this gyro should be useful :< This skill is completly useless at the moment. But I do not blame the gyro itself, I blame the useless whirl finishers wich need a rework. Imagine a water field whirl wich would pulse healing around it? 300ø, Or fire → aoe burn. Stuff like that. Those projectiles are the problem, not the gyro.
Final Salvo weak? With superspeed heal this trait gives all gyros a 3k heal, wich is everything else than weak … Also lightning field -> hammer 3 -> 240 radius aoe daze for 2.5 sec~
But I agree that stabilization core is very weak. I wouldn’t merge them tho, I’d rather buff the stabilization core to work with every gyro, so you could make use of it, when you need stability, simple summon bulwark or purge etc. That’d be a great change for this trait. Yet for ressing and finishing :/ A pure pvp trait, but even there, protection on healskill is WAY better.
About your suggested trait, why would you use that? o.O I mean they are cced, unless they use a stunbreak this trait is useless :|
For pve he’s awesome, you just have to know when to move and when to wait for him. Like when you spawn him run 1 sec, wait 1 sec and then gooooooo
But I agree, gyros in general need to be able to go up and down small cliffs. Like if they are further away than their radius in range they should follow you like they were on a leash.
Or just up the damage on it to a reasonable level, say, the same pulse damage as Acid Bomb or Thunderclap(that might be too much since it can hit 12 times, but the damage definitely needs a massive upgrade). The skill is worthless right now but it has the potential to be amazing, they could even change it so the gyro moves towards your targeted enemy(would remain stationary if no enemy is targeted).
i think they need to rework Whirl finishers as a whole so that they lock onto nearest targets instead of spewing randomly
^this → i’d say too that the whirl finishers are the problem, not the gyro. Altough it’s toolbelt could use some buffs :/ Like a 10 sec field that spreads conditions OR dazes or cc to all enemies within. Something like that’d be cool.
What the title says – I tried and tried and tried but I cannot find a SERIOUS way to use this skill, neither in pve nor in pvp. Has anyone any good ideas to share? :/ Right now it feels completly useless … sadly :/

Only the tooltip is bugged, it still works fine. → 0.04 for swiftness and 0.16 for super speed.

Condi engi for current fotm post lv50 and for first raid boss. Everywhere else and past decemper patch, the power zerk engi > condi. Open world aka the jungle depends on what you’re fighting ofc. High toughness favors condi, high movement favors power f.ex. But overall power is better in the jungle too.

There are subgroups. They get favorized, so yea, they are indeed the same persons I hit with my wells.

Just have a rev in your subgroup. Mes shouldn’t be alone, the mes is in the power team.
If you really are tryhard, you want 2 revs, one in group 1 and one in group 2. Then you as mesmer shall move yourself in combat after each CS.
I agree they are flawed, but obviously you hate them and don’t want to give them a chance. You don’t want to learn how to use them. If you understand them you can use them, they aren’t so bad as you state it.
Also it heals you up to 3k hp
Use napalm @ breakbar moments, trait nades, use scrapper isntead of tools and you’ll be fine.
Skills with 5 targets max affect the ones nearest the center frist. But it favorizes the ones in your squad team ofc. Nothing there is “random”. So sharing 100% quickness to 10 ppl is only possible with shield 5# or with impossible positionings. In reality, it’s not possible.
…well you could move youself in your squad team 1 to 2 and back to 1 after each roation

Also use shield 5 in the end and immediately close the split by pressing f5 and throw another one, so you can catch two shields with cdr
Well the AI thing would be amazing really. It’d look much better and let us expirience a cooler gameplay. Yet the problem is the AI is lacking. AI in general isn’t something bad if it’s good AI ofc :P

The problem with it having it’s own stats are beyond than making it “viable” for condis.
If the gyro does not inherit our stats, the crit chance is terrible, (4% like every minion), and wich is much more important → unaffected by the might banners and buffs WE have.
Condi engi couldn’t really use this gyro anyway, but I see your point there. Therefore I suggest another change:
This would make it an ok condi option if cc is needed, aswell finally a great power skill. Yet those would again just work IF THEY INHERIT OUR POWER AND CONDI DAMAGE.
ANet you really have to adress this issue with that skill. Is so insanly CLOSE to be a great skill. But it’s on the edge of “useless” … -ness … or something :<

Power scrapper is extremly strong in pve. People overestimate condi engi at this point due DnT dps sheets that say “condi is 22k, power is 20k dps”. Yet some things have changed since then.
Open World and Dungeons
In open world and dungeons, everything that is downscaled, the power scrapper is better than the condi engi, since viper means expertice and that gets downscaled too compared to sinister. Also the new maps barely have mobs that stand still in napalm or fire bombs, especially chak just run away from aoes.
Fractals
In fractals right now condi engi is probably superior past 50ties. Low level the power scrapper is much better due low toughness. At 50~ the condi will have slightly better damage in long fights, but against all the trash the power scrapper is better. For skips etc, sneak gyro, for utility all the new reflection stuff and aoe etc – overall the scrapper with power is a much more powerful ally in fotm than a pure dps 0 utility condi engi. After december, condi engi is probably dead for fotm.
Raids
In raids the bosses have LOW toughness wich favours the power professions. All the dps calculations are against MEDIUM toughness enemies. The condi engis are rare, and needed for VG, but after the 3 condi engis, every additional engi should be a power scrapper due to superior dps, cc, break bar destruction and utility in general.
Btw condi engi at VG? No thank you. The condi scrapper with traits 112 and medic gyro instead of HT is superior in terms of mobility due super speed, protection in damage phases where you don’t want to interrupt or green fields in danger zones and more heal for scrapper fellows at red wenn you want to save cc but seekers are near.
The old condi engi, has barely a place in the game right now. Yet people have to realize it first. It’s a mass of sheeps out there who encourage themselves with what they are doing, but barely one of them looks beyond the horizon and tries to kill their darlings to improve.

93% boon duration is sadly 1% not enough for max quickness. I’d say just forget about the bountiful stones and use the nourishment then. The game only translates 0.25 sec at minimum, wich means there’s no difference between 94-100% boon duration.
1 sec → 1.94 = 2 sec
1.5 sec → 2.91 = 3 sec
2 sec → 3.88 = 4 sec
… I know “it’s a minion, minions have their own stats, phantasms are an exception” etc etc. But it just makes no sense for a skill like the blast gyro to behave like this! It makes sense for actual minions like pets and necro summons or elementals, but not for onehitwonders wich are basicly just fancy animations for a “projectile”.
I suggest those things to give the blast gyro the “thing” to make it actually useful:
It would also be great if the daze of the gyros would work with expert examination, the trait that appleis vuln and weakness on daze and stun …

Someone here made a fantastic suggestion once: Max range. If there’s a 240 range between you and your gyro, he will be pulled to you if you move away, like if you have him on a 240 range leash.
Right now you can’t use gyros at places like the harpy fractal either, they’re stuck on platforms and can’t leave them. Gyros really need some movement improvements.
Also they need to act faster, that “push” animation of the medic and purge gyro are useless and force them to stop moving …
Necromancer.
IDuellist ist the strongest phantasm (except for zerker warlock @8+ condis) dps wise if played with viper stats. You can have 3 of them and still aa with sword for a good hybrid dmg. Yet the mesmer lacks of a condi aa that deals good damage, staff is weak and scepeter even worse.
About that condi necro, that’s an illusion ppl somehow came up with. Except for epidemic clear the orbs at Gorseval, the condi necro damage is pathetic and completly useless for like the red part of VG.
If you want to play a serious condi profession, the gods are engi and warrior, the ok ones are ele and ranger and then there are the “just for fun condi” professions.
I think some here overestimate the boon duration for quickness. Or rather underestimate the heral. Chrono will always be in the pt with heral and gain his 50% boon duration. The quickness uptime then is already enough, you can stick to scholar or chronomancer runes to deal some actual dps. Mesmer no longer is that pathetic weakling he used to be. Boss fights take longer, illusions don’t die anymore, skills deal damage and we gained good modifiers.
I’m really fine with traited nades, rifle and mokittenunno what they are lacking, maybe it’s just you :|

I find our scrapper specialization major adept traits a bit too weak. They have so little impact and you often don’t feel even a difference between them. I’d like to see some minor changes for them:

Right now this trait is amazing, but only due a bug; it has no intern CD. Yet with that icd you’d be unable to proc it at will / you’d be unable to time it for when you really need it wich would make it rather useless. Since super speed doesn’t stack, the 10 sec icd is just too much.
I suggest to remove the icd of this trait.
Stabilization Core

This trait has no use if noone gets downed.
I suggest to reduce the stability stack from 2 to 1, but to let it proc on every gyro use. This way we could use timed gyros to prevent cc, also would it gain a great synergy with the other trait that grants might on stability.

This trait seems only to work well with the medic gyro, since it’s instant cast. With other heal skills it feels only like a tiny addon without real impact. I would go in a slightly different direction with that trait.
I suggest to reduce the duration from 5 to 3 seconds yet to let it proc on every heal skill, leap and blast finisher in a water field. This way you could have some cooler plays with this trait and be very tanky.
Another idea would be to give this trait aegis for 5 seconds upon activating a heal skill. If you do not block an attack within the next 5 seconds, you are healed for a small amount.
Those are my suggestions for those traits. Please let me know what you guys think about it!

Too bad most professions who are strong in raids need alacrity more than quickness…
I use chronomancer since imo content where I stay at 90% hp forever is not content hard enough to worry about. Also for raids nothing beats recall and sometimes precognition. 4 times the same well is overkill since mimic cd is too long. I suggest chrono > scholar nowdays.

Third leap states it makes a combo finisher in combo fields yet yields no effect for doing so.
The finisher happens at the beginning of each jump, not in the end, wich might lead to confusion.It works fine.
How did you do confusion? add one attack? or just the passive tics? Anyway, thank you for that list, it’s probably the best one out there. I always hated ppl underestimating poison nades.

I’ve always played this one but since the scrapper and vale guardian I modified it a bit to this:
I like the old build more for damage, but you know what they say: Kill your darlings! So even if it wouldn’t be better in the end, I suggest to play it just for the expirience, yet atm I’m pretty happy with it.

I think the pistol aa feels a bit too weak even tough I know our AA’s aren’t supposed to be insanely strong, but it feels even weaker than weak. Instead of buffing it into eternity I’d like to see it to be an explosion so it could benefit from traits.

Viper deals a bit more damage than sinister, yet sinister is still totally fine as an equip itself. It’s even better for downscaled dungeons than viper, since now condi dura gets downscaled aswell (since it became an actual stat).
An engi running sinister instead of viper is like someone running sigil of force instead of night in a night dungeon – it’s totally fine, don’t worry too much about it.

Seriously, before it was just annoying but noone cared about the event. But now, it’s part of a legendary collection and I find it both frustrating and pathetic that this even after 3 years still is bugged!
