Distortion should last 2s

You can make sound every idea bad if you act like this …

They could buff it to 2 sec + 1 sec per illusion and give the distortion share trait 2 sec too.

I personally don’t think that distortion is in urge need of a buff, altough it wouldn’t be op and it would increase the usage of the distortion share trait, since 1 sec is reaaaally short.

Make Flame Blast ground-targeted skill

I’ve lived with the issues, tried to prevent them as good as I could and I just accepted it the way it is. Your idea sounds just awesome – the change you request would surely be a huge QoL buff.

I can only see it to be worse when you change your mind about when to blow it up while it’s midair or when you want to hit somone in midair or max range on a higher layer. Any other situation, your change makes the skill better.

I greatly support this idea, it’s pretty great!

Please make invigorating speed also proc with super speed. It’s very hard to get swiftness with the scrapper without streamlined kits and heavy armor exploit, only once in a while with a lightning field and a finisher.

The Mesmer’s DPS is higher but its burst is not. Since Mesmer DPS was one of the lowest out of all professions that isn’t a problem.

The Elephant in the Room... Healing Turret

It’s not that HT is too strong. It’s that the alternatives are too weak. I agree that it is a strong skill overall, but that doesn’t mean it deserves a nerf. There are many good skills out there. If we’d nerf every good one we’d just have tons of same healing skills with different animations.

TL;DR: HT is fine, leave it alone, buff the alternatives.

Hammer damage

You’re missing the point. It’s not about that any kits #1 should be better than hammer #1. But any damage oriented #2-#5 should be remarkable better than any #1 skill.

Yet grenades auto attack completely blows everything you are saying right out of the water.

If you beleve that’s true, you sure have a lot to learn …

Afaik Stabilization Core didn’t work … ?

Stabilization Core only affects Function Gyro when you try to revive/stomp. It has no effect on the other Gyros.

Oh … I read the tooltip wrong then. But how lame is that!? I mean I’d consider to take it if it would work with all gyros, but like this? No thank you… This trait therefore needs improvement.

Invigorating Speed, Swiftness and Super Speed

Then lets set a super speed limit at lets say 2-3 stacks. It won’t be op as long as you can’t stack it for like 10 sec.

Anyway, I don’t think the scrapper traitline should be a tradeoff. It should synergize with current traits to become a part of a whole build. Traits / traitlines shouldn’t block each other.

I’ll keep it short:

Make invigorating speed also proc with super speed. It’s kitten hard to get swiftness with the scrapper without streamlined kits and heavy armor exploit, only once in a while with a lightning field and a finisher.

I also suggest to make super speed a boon for counterplay’s sake.

  • Blast gyro can’t crit – well he can, like any minion with a 4% chance … just give it our crit chance.
  • Gyro AI; blast gyro misses target and explodes somewhere in nowhere, stealth gyro tries to attack enemies, heal and cleansing gyro are completly confused where to go.

Not everyone beleves the aa is too weak. I’m not alone being happy engi won’t turn in another aa profession. It’s nice to keep the “don’t stay on your weapon too long” thing the engi is famous for.

Afaik, I’ve tested this and I blocked stuff behind me aswell. But tbh I’d be ok if it would only block attacks 180° in front of me but then give it a small buff in terms of dps or duration. It’s pretty weird to put the hammer up in the air in front of me and block attacks from behind …

I really hope the aa stays as it is. Engi shall never become another aa > rest class. I enjoy getting rewarder for NOT using the aa. Hammer should be the strongest weapon aa, but still be weaker than the aa of damaging kits.

It feels weird but I guess it’s correct this way. I mean, we are engineers – we NEVER had no swiftness while using that skill. So ofc it seems shorter. But maybe because of the fact that this skill was balanced WITH the swiftness, it should get some range by default? Hm …

So after reading all 7 pages plus giving my own feedback at page 5, I see that everyone overall agrees with this:

  • hammer is great, but we would enjoy a blast somewhere
  • traits are ok, but some of them are no solid picks or just “ok”
  • gyros have their true strength in roleplay action – other gamemodes, we still pick a kit

BWE3 Chronomancer Feedback Thread

This is to add along with my previous feedback – which includes iAvenger phantasm reverting back to range attacker (and its BWE2 sound effect) + AoE on target hit, fully fix Tides of Time return, and make wells usable underwater like Necromancer wells/Time Warp.

iAvenger was changed from ranged attacked to the current iteration in BW3 because it suffered the flaw of ranged attacker. Going back removes the current problem and accepts the previous. This isnt a solution. The solution lays in moving forward.

Ranged phantasms (iMage, iAvenger) with bouncing attacks and effects need new functionality.

You skipped his post after “reverting back to range attacker”, didn’t you? AoE on target hit doesn’t automaticly mean bounce. I’m preeeetty sure he meant an aoe like a lava font or something.

Imagine iAvenger, iMage and iDisenchanter have the ability to cast a none projectile aoe field! Lets ignore iMage and iDisenchanter for the sake of the BWE3 and chronomancer – so the iAvenger would do some sort of animation at about 600-900 range and then spawn a butterfly pooping aoe field with 240ø at the targets location. WHAT is wrong with this idea?



Back to topic, here’s my feedback:
Overall the Chronomancer is in a very good spot now, I’m impressed how much ANet did according to the forum feedbacks! Only few thing I’d like to see changed. The things I do not mention are in my opinion, great skills and solid picks and don’t need any changes.


Well of Precognition
It’s a huge downer that this well no longer grants the “unblockable” buff. With a 45 sec CD, and no significant “well ends”-effect, this skill has lost a bit of it’s glory. The problem with the endurance regain is that you don’t have to dodge for the last 3 seconds anyway. So you might get nothing from the final pulse.


Well of Recall
Still seems a bit weak. For PvE the damage is too low and for PvP the chill is nice, but mesmer are doomed to pick survival skills over skills like these. Maybe a bit more damage and less cd, idk :/ It’s just a bit … “meh”.


Well of Action
I think this well would be good enough even without the damage. Shift the damage to the Well of Recall and / or Well of Calamity. There is nothing wrong with a pure support skill imo.


Gravity Well
For PvE, nothing’s gonna replace time warp anyway. But I see potential for PvP. But for that to happen, it needs something more. I wouldn’t dare to buff the CC any further, neither the damage. But I’d increase the radius to 360, since it’s the elite well and should create a danger zone, not just a “danger spot”.


Echo of Memory / Deja Vu
The block and it’s duration are both fine imo. Ppl just have to get used to that the mesmer has a block (again).
However the phantasm is weak. It’s nice that the phantasm now grants aoe alacrity and single target slow, but pared with the fact that he’s now melee and attacks once every ~8 second with a very VERY low damage output makes this phantasm extremly underwhelming. I understand that you can summon 2 of them right away, but the illusion limit is still just 3…
How about NOT let you summon a 2nd phantasm and just reenable the block again? With that change you can buff the phantasm to cast his skill at a 600-900 range (WITHOUT a projectile), while also lower the attack cooldown from those ~8 to 4 seconds.

ANet we ALL here just want to have some sort of range attacking phantasm with an aoe skill. IAvenger, IDisenchanter and IMage all suffer greatly from the (original) bounce mechanic and the desire to be ranged and aoe. There is no better time than now to change those phantasms together. Please make up your mind.


Tides of Time
This skill should bounce back from walls to grant us the cooldown reduction right? Problem / truth is: It doesn’t work. It works like 20% of the time, only on specific walls. Also when the tides of time gets casted in direction of a cliff, it has no chance to return to us.
Instead of trying to fix such complicated mechanics, just give as a manually seconds activation to let the tides of time return to us. This way you fixed walls and cliffs, by giving us a bit more to do, to say – more to play with. There is more depth in this skill with a manually second activation. Please consider this option.

Also consider to add this option or at least the option of a wall-backbounce for other profession skills, like engineer shield 5#, ranger axe 4#, warrior gs 4#, they all also suffer from this mechanic.


As for all the skills, that’s it for now Thank you for reading forums to improve this profession!

Traits


Function Gyro
Can’t complain about this one. Pretty great, but a bit slow finisher.


Shocking Speed
Pretty ok I guess. It would be nice tough, if the super speed duration would be increased a bit or even better -> make super speed a buff that is stripable, yet also stackable. This would help this trait greatly with hammer #3 + lightning field.

Stabilization Core
Uhh somehow I never got this one to work. Never gained any stability from it. ._.‘’ So I pretend it worked and then it would be quite nice. Pretty good trait, IF the gyros get fixed. Right now it’s useless since I won’t be using ANY of the gyros. So: good gyros = I use 1-2 of them = good trait. Otherwise = bad trait.

Recovery Matrix
Well … it’s something I guess? It would be nice if it would do anything else, just … well just something MORE than just granting you protection. How about it also gives your heal skill the ability to ignore heal reductions like from poison. Yet not from regeneration or other skills, only your heal skill.


Decisive Renown
Veeeery situational and probably not much worth. You cannot not take it, but if I could, I wouldn’t. The super speed duration could be longer. Also give it the common “increased revive speed” like other similar traits have too.


Rapid Regeneration
Cool trait, just perfectly fine! Still – make superspeed a boon. Right now there is no supporting, nor counterplay super speed.

Expert Examination
This one is pretty cool too. Just don’t touch it and it’ll be fine and a solid pick!

Mass Momentum
Again, pretty cool. Good and a solid pick!


Impact Savant
Hmmm … now this one is tricky. It looks to me that all scrapper skills just could have had a 25% longer stun / daze duration by default and replacing this trait with something useful instead. It maybe should affect knockback / -down aswell and give a +10% damage modifier to stunned, dazed, knockbacked, knockdowned and floating targets. The whole scrapper traitline misses some general damage modifiers anyway, don’t ya think?


Adaptive Armor
Again, pretty cool. Good and a solid pick!

Final Salvo
Again a tricky one. Probably pretty good if you ask me, especially when you trait for heal on superspeed and super speed on finishers in lightning fields. Fine with it.

Perfectly Weighted
Pretty cool. Good and a solid pick!


So that’s it from my side. Up until now I’ve read all comments and some ideas are really good!I guess with all our inputs and ANets will to change the scrapper for the better, we might get this profession to be really useful, good and fun to play!
Right now, the biggest flaws are the gyros, their AI, behaveor and range. I trust ANet to do a good job, like they did with the chronomancer! I hope this post won’t just get skipped and ANet will make some changes according to this!

Gyros
Overall gyro CD still bugs me a bit. You want them to be dead as fast as possible to reuse them again. Just let the CD start at summon, not dead. Increase elite gyro CD a bit.
Another flaw, AI and cliffs. I’ll go into that later.
Also let them be blast finishers when they die or explode via skill. This will not be stronger as turrets already are blasts. It’s just something engineers are used to.


Medic Gyro
The AI is lackluster. The gyro does not know where to go and pulses often when noone is around. I’d rather blow him up immediately for 200 heal per sec instead of the most unlikely achievable 250 heal per sec when he ALWAYS heals you. The gyro is also never ever as good as the alternatives.
I suggest to increase the radius of the gyro to 240-300 and make him STICK to you. No flying behind you, just make him STICK to you. Let him ignore cliffs like a miniature, flying to you, not around edges. Also make the pulse every second, lower the initial heal and increase the overall heal. Lower the cd by ~5 sec. This way you can use him like a healing aura.

The toolbelt skill is aweseom though, pretty strong with the hammer and protection / water field is aweseom aswell. Great skill.


Bulwark Gyro
This skill is perfectly fine, you know why? Because of the big aoe it affects. You won’t run away from it. It’s toolbelt is awesome aswell, I really like the whole kit, great work!
Just make him follow you over cliffs aswell please …


Purge Gyro
I can’t think of any situation where you could use this garbage can and it’s garbage friend toolbelt skill. The gyro itself has the same issues as the medic gyro: can’t find a target, struggles with AI, won’t follow over cliffs, slow reaction for cleanses.
I suggest to give the purge gyro the ability to absorb ALL conditions from 5 allies around him aslong as it lives. When you blow it up the conditions are spread to up to 5 targets.

As for the insanely weak toolbelt ability, You might want to add weakness, vulnerbility, condi cleanse, damage, duration, stacks or anything like that. It’s extremly weak at the moment. Oh maybe a stunbreak?


Blast Gyro
First of all, it misses. It goes beyond the target, turns around, explodes out of range. Second HUGE issue: It can’t crit. It’s damage comes from the gyro itself wich has a 4% crit chance like every minion does.

Suggestions: let it inherit the crit chance of the owner. Also make it NOT explode by itself. Let it just chase a target, let it stick close to it. Then, when you press the button again, you let it explode manually with the current automatic explosion effect. This gives the skill some depth and it’s not too much apm required, engineers are use to stuff like this. Also lower the CD 5-10 sec. You lose a whole kit for this, so a damage gyro needs to be good to compete with like a big old bom, grenade barrage, mine field, acid bomb …

About it’s toolbelt, just remove the cast time and maybe add a stunbreak to make it less underwhelming.


Shredder Gyro
This – is the worst. Nearly 0 power damage and the only thing it does is to be a whirl finisher and as we all know, those are soooooo strong. Heh – no they aren’t. Let this one fly ABOVE you, untargetable and stick to you. Let it last about 8sec and the effect shall be a passive whirl finisher on your spot, like an aura. Also – what does the word “shred” remind you of? Exactly – armor shred, aka vulnerability. Give it 1 stack vuln every 0.5 sec + low power damage.

The toolbelt looks pretty cool but it’s again pretty weak. It’d be nice if you could throw this about 600 range and then it puleses only twice with a longer pause between, let both impacts daze and increase the overall damage a bit.


Sneak Gyro
This one is almost perfect. The only issue is it’s AI again. It can’t keep up with you, so let him have the ability to STICK to you. Let him have the ability to go down cliffs so he can follow you. And let it’s explosion when he dies not reveal you. Those will make this gyro very viable! Nice one! Toolbelt is fine aswell!
Also this gyro despritly tries to tackle enemies I attacked, yet it does absolutely nothing but never follow me again until it or the mob dies. Fix this one… :P

So finally, here I go with my feedback!
I wanted to play the scrapper long enogh before giving a review, that’s why it took some time. I’ve put a lot of effort into it, so I’d appreciate some feedback, especially from ANet.


Hammer

The auto attack is perfectly fine as it is. Weaker than the burst skills, but still good enough to stack a bit might or vulnerability or to just cover some time until other skills are ready again. No need for buffs imo, I don’t want the scrapper / engi to become an aa class.

Good damage and effect, but the reflect should be up faster, at least as fast as the flame thrower. You can’t really react to most attacks with this skill wich makes it just a spammer. But overall a good skill.

Nice skill, but useless on small platforms, but I’m fine with that. Yet I noticed that the second attack of the chain often misses. Maybe a small pathfinding issue but overall nothing too bad. Good skill.

Strange but good skill. I wonder why I can block attacks from behind with it but I also wouldn’t complain about that. The animation looks a bit “meh” but, a great skill.

Aweseome skill, but it would be nice if it would also be a blast finisher on impact. So on it’s own it would be a lightning + blast, but you also could use it in already existing fields as another blast due to the blast finisher / field order. Would give this skill some depth.

You people are talking as if mimic feedback is all that great when Guardian’s Wall of Reflection traited last as long as two back to back Feedbacks with mimic.

I prefer to trait feedback thank you very much. It’s also much more reliable than a wall will ever be.

This weekend you’ll be able to test out a lot of the theorycrafting (some of which had my eyes widening – in a good way) that you’ve been doing and offer even more awesome feedback.

Things you’ve brought up, like the Scrapper’s lack of a stunbreak on either their utilities or traits is getting acted on, as well as a few more changes to core Engineer and bugfixes.

That would totally not happen.

  • Due to popular demand, we changed the Gyros so that their CD starts as soon as they are summoned. Congratulations Scrappers, you now have Perma Stealth with a well over 30s Duration on a 30s Cooldown.

…from a visible gyro with no use in pve since it gets nuked by trash and more than enough counterplay in pvp. Also we just rised it’s cd to 45, but I think the other gyros still are fine.

29/9 Patch : What is the new Staff meta ?

How could you not already have used signet of fire … sigh … The old meta was frost bow, signet of fire and glyph of storms.

The frost bow will still stay in the meta just for the freeze and skill 3, big targets still greatly suffer from a 30k dps frostbow 4, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s rather the pure frustration that makes you want to replace the frost bow instead of thinking first how strong it actually was and still is.

If you really face a target that doesn’t need to be freezed and is a small target aswell, you might aswell use arcane wave for a blast and some dmg, or the lava axe for you and person X to cause a blast finisher with high damage and then throw it away. If this person even is a mesmer or someone with low dps, you can even passive increase his / her damage with that.

I beg your pardon? The Mesmer has never ever been stronger than these days!

As for pvp, since the 23. july the whole gamemode became a bit … imbalanced. But the true balance there will most likely start with HoT. Even tough, in pvp the Mesmer became much stronger within the last few months.

And pve, oh boy, we even deal acceptable dps now. All our mantras have become AoE, mimic is an acutal useful skill and our traits no longer cripple us like when we were forced to trait into the vita / healing power traitline and missing all the offensive stats.

Mesmer finally became a strong on pair class and is no longer a pure portal and time warp [female dog].

Vitality from armor scales up Illusions HP

I doubt we will keep those stats. I beleve with HoT we get all the stat combinations we need to make build where we can focus on what we want to.

Why would I as mesmer, dealing “meh” dmg and “yay” support in a dangerous area like the raids or the jungle keep using glass cannon gear? To increase my damage from very low to low? I pretty much beleve that (especially IF the phantasms will inherit vita / toughness) we will gear up to either vitality, toughtness or healingpower instead of power. Our reflects still benefit from precision and ferocity, while being able to full support our allies in hardcore content.

Or, what also might be, they announce us a hardcore engame like they once did with fotm wich will be hard in the beginning and after a year we all are in the zerker meta again

Mimic CD to long?

90 is insane yes. I would be happy for a 60 sec cd ofc, since it’s 30 less seconds. But it’s still not balanced. Why should mimic always have the same CD? Does mimic deserve the same CD for mimicing a portal and an idefender? Where does that make sense?

Why not give mimic the same CD as the skill you used it on? Or maybe a modifier like 1.5x CD of mimed skill. Probably would make more sense.

Also it would be nice if mantras wouldn’t screw mimic up :P

IMO, the “bug” is that only armour affects Phantasm health and not other sources of Vitality.

Yup that too. MDF will become worth it when:

  • increased radius
  • heals allies for the ammount you should have healed (it would still work when at 100% health)
  • trigger off Backpack regen

Also SD should indeed be buffed radius too, and IMO also better hp scaling (about 0,5 at least)

those are some great ideas, especially the backpack one!

I was so happy about the change and wanted to test it right away, but happyness left me fast when I noticed that I barely could heal anyone but in a stacked corner in a dungeon …

240 ø is what it still cripples the trait. That’s extremly small for a support skill that wants to reach many allies in a wide area. All shouts or heal skills like soothing mist etc have so much more range. Drop a fire bomb and you see what I mean (same range), you have to stay too close to your target.

I suggest to increase the ø from 240 to 360.

I always found this skill insanely stupid … It only prevents one from stealth but it would be much more interesting if sic em would autoamticly reveal all stealthed targets around the pet ~360ø. Why should my doggie not smell an invisible target!?

Med Blaster still hits 3 targets per pulse.
It’s skill fact says: Number of targets: 5

my theory: they couldn’t handle the bug with the op heal, so they revertet the medkit to pre patch and just adjustet the heal again while forgetting to change the targets from 3 to 5

Med Kit Issues

Medkit can’t be fixed by adjusting numbers. It doesn’t matter if it’s getting a bugfix or not, neither if it gets buffed or nerfed into oblivion. The whole skill set is just unusable and not viable in any gamemodes in the slightest ways.
